Savannah Callahan-Williams may have been blindsided when her husband chose to abandon their marriage, but she knew it wasn’t going to be the end of her story. Theodore Smith-Harrington knows firsthand that money can’t buy you happiness. As a single dad, Theo has been focused on being the best for his young daughter, and he has never met anyone that was worth the risk of falling in love—until Savannah Callahan-Williams walked into his family’s law firm and stole his heart.
Just as Savannah and Theo think they are free to explore their intense connection, someone else is threatening to steal their happily ever after. They want to keep Savannah for themselves, and they are willing to do anything necessary—no matter the cost.

LIKES: There are so many characters to love in this book. And one of the biggest feelings I have after finishing it is wishing that I had a family like Savannah's - not the connections or money, but how tight-knit and loyal they all are
I was also sucked into the story at the beginning, because who doesn't love a scorned and vengeful FMC? Amidst all of the divorce drama, the sprinkles of tension between Savannah and Theo were perfect
DISLIKES: It killed me, because once the divorce was finalized, I started to lose interest in the story :( if it wasn't for the suspense over Savannah's stalker, I might have DNFd
And while the characters are all loveable and entertaining, some of the dialogue felt tacky. And with Theo, he's a dreamboat, but his compliments and words of affirmation often felt like they were laid on thick, making those moments with Savannah feel forced and unrealistic

Really enjoyable story the FMC Savannah gets hit in the face with a divorce, by finding papers to a $5 million penthouse that her soon to be ex-husband bought in preparation to leave her! The MMC Theo is a lawyer that is arch enemies with her student to be ex, and when Savannah hires his sister to be her lawyer these to meet…
A very enjoyable couple with great banter, in a divorce case that does not make me want to peel my eyes out (court room stuff in books isn’t usually my thing, however, in this book it worked and it worked well). At first, when I realize the second book was about the second daughter in the Callahan family I was surprised however this book definitely met my expectations and exceeded them. I love the melding of families, The FMC has three daughters and the MMC has one daughter. I still love and cannot wait for all the brothers books and I wonder who the author will put with Willa (a female, single mother character) who we met in the first book who is part of the friend group who I just have a gut feeling is going to be the FMC and one of the brothers books however I’m not sure which brother…
I love the suspense aspect in her books. I love the thought in detail that goes into each occurrence and how this is the second book where what happens is both a mix of shock and disbelief in a captivating way? I am usually good at making guesses and making predictions but these books in this series have shocked me. I definitely recommend reading this whole series, it’s for fans of Catherine Cowles, or Claire Kingsley mixed with Nora Roberts! A must pick up for small town suspense!!
I read Liz’s debut novel and enjoyed it very much. So much so, I was so excited to continue with the series of the Callahan’s. I absolutely LOVE this second book, Soaring Free. The way I absolutely love the Callahan’s with their family dynamic and the found family warms my heart but also has me in a fit of laughter, it really does give me life!
This second book gives off major romantic suspense vibes, mystery, a bit of thriller mixed with the comedic relief through the sibling text banter, with a sweet sweet and beautiful love story.
Soaring Free follows Savannah Callahan-Williams, a newly single mama going through a very nasty divorce who seeks a lawyer to help her navigate the demands of the divorce and to get what she deserves. Theodore (Theo) Smith-Harrington a single dad and well known attorney, partners with his sister to represent Savannah, as he finds joy in going up against his nemesis Shane Williams also known as Savannah’s soon to be ex-husband.
From the start of the story you are drawn into Savannah’s world that is crumbling before her eyes, fighting for her and her girl's life, and the last thing she expected was falling for her lawyer. The way I loved seeing Savannah and Theo together and their relationship blossom and grow into a beautiful romance, had me swooning. But what you don’t expect is all the danger that is beneath the surface, following Savannah along the way, providing a numerous amount of twists and turns that had me on edge while reading through to the end of the book! Liz did amazing at writing the mystery, keeping me engaged and totally invested in knowing what was coming next and who it was, and NO, I did not even in the least expect the BAD GUY.
This book totally gave me Catherine Cowels vibes with the suspense and keeping me on edge and not knowing the bad guy. Liz did such an amazing job and I am so excited to continue this series.
I liked the book, I really wanted to put 3.5 stars but Goodreads doesn't have that option (which is stupid but wtv) so I had to content myself with 3 stars. It was good, the suspense was good and the characters were good but there were two things that just sealed the fate of the book for me. One was him calling her queen. I'm sorry, some people probably like that nickname but I just think it's cringe. Everytime he said, I died a little inside. I was so scared she was going to call him king, thank God that didn't happen. And the second was the fact that Savannah didn't take anything that happened seriously. She had young children at home and everytime anything happened she just assumed it was her ex husband. Like what? Ask him. But did she? No. But even if it was him doing all those things, where is the concern and urgency to have him looked at? The only time she did anything, she was so vague. Anyone could have answered anything. It just irritated me, she should had been careful and observant and she wasn't. But like I said, I did like the book. I finished it just because I really wanted to know who the stalker was. I liked Theo, the way he adored Savannah warmed my heart. He included her and her girls so fast in his life and his daughter's and I loved that. I liked Savannah and the way she was herself. Her daughters were her priority and that's how it should be. She was a fantastic mother and a really good person. Loved them together and the big happy family they created put a big smile on my face
I was given another opportunity to an e-ARC for the second installment in the Callahans series, "Soaring Free". Theo and Savannah's story releases Sept 28th and let me tell you, for a slow burn the suspense and angst was top notch by Liz Colbert.
"Soaring Free" starts off with flashbacks in the past leading up to the present of the book being written and it builds a plot from the start of Savannah's story and as heart breaking as it but in typical fashion of this series; her family is right by her side giving her all she needs to navigate the new chapter in her life and que in how she meets Theo. That man is awe struct and Liz wrote it BEAUTIFULLY.
The character development the first half of the book really brings you to the edge of your seat and what they go through together and brings the mystery of what is actually happening inwhich you do read an unbelievable third act that you didn’t see coming so prepare yourself for not putting the book down. I read this in almost two days and I didn’t want it to end.
Theo's backstory tells us he will do whatever it takes not only for his daughter but for those important in his life and que in Savannah and her girls. He is yearning for her and we all know me, a man and yearning is how you draw me into a story.
Prepare yourselves for how Liz writes these character's because that third act, I really thought I knew who was behind everything but I was terribly wrong and threw my kindle down when Savannah was kidnapped. As the "Calvary" does in true fashion makes this a happy ever after.
✨ Romantic Suspense ✨ Small Town Romance ✨ Forced Proximity ✨ Slow Burn ✨ Playful yet protective MMC ✨ Kitten with Claws FMC ✨ Single Dad x Newly Single Mom ✨ He Falls First—and Harder ✨ Curvy FMC ✨ Tight-knit Family ✨ No Third Act Break Up
Savannah and Theo's story is not a conventional one. Sav or Savannah when we meet her is going through a divorce from her husband of.. what 13 years? Which is a long time and they have kids.
Liz does an excellent job of layering this story. There is a lot going on but each element is important to get to Theo and Sav having their HEA with their children (from previous relationships). There is also an element of kidnapping and some SA (does not actually happen on page) so.. lots going on folks.
Seeing our FMC have a support system through her family and the law firm chosen to get the divorce is something that a lot of people don't have.. so to see the support for our FMC is amazing. Fighting for her kids and for her to keep the home that she built for her kids and soon to be ex husband.
Soaring Free is the perfect title for this book because once Sav is free and clear of Shane she starts living her life for herself. Her and Theo take things slow and I really love how their story unfolds.
Thank you to the author & Love Notes PR for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Soaring Free, the second book in The Callahans series, delves into the topics of self-worth, family dynamics, and second chances. The story revolves around Theodore (Theo) Smith-Harrington, a well-known lawyer and single father, and Savannah Callahan-Williams, a recently single mother going through the challenging divorce proceedings.
I adored Savannah and Theo's characters because they serve as role models for all single parents who prioritise their kids' well-being. Being a parent is tough, particularly if you're doing it by yourself. However, in spite of the challenges, I admired these two because of the love, support, and fortitude they showed for their children. Their relatives and siblings were also extremely supportive in helping them. One more thing that contributed to my appreciation of this book.
Savannah's status at the start of the book kept their chemistry from building up quickly. To get Savannah to fall in love with him, Theo worked really hard. And all the charming and delightful things he does to win her over? Swoon! Throughout the story, their blossoming connection was wonderful to witness, and Theo's protective nature made it all sexy and hot. Savannah's siblings' witty teasing and entertaining group discussions also brought an element of humour and pleasure to the story. On the other hand, Theo's sister gives Savannah the girl power vibes she needs to feel empowered.
Even though the plot is based on known tropes, it is executed with an appropriate proportion of romance and suspense, as well as enough twists and turns to keep the reader curious and challenged. Knowing who is hiding in the shadows and posing a threat to Savannah puts you on the edge of your seat as you go through each chapter.
This is the author's first book that I have read. Despite the novel's potential, I can't help but notice the writing style employed. Although the plot has an excellent start, the scenes and dialogues become excessively lengthy as soon as Savannah leaves the proceedings. It seemed that rather than giving us a little more of the couple's intimate and sexy moments, the author invested more in these fillers to lengthen the plot. In each romance novel I read, I look forward to experiencing enthusiasm and shivers from the chemistry-rich connections. But for some reason, this book didn't. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to this series' next instalment.
All things considered, Soaring Free is a gentle, quietly uplifting story about resiliency, optimism, the value of familial ties, and the strength of love. This delightful book is sure to appeal to those who enjoy character-driven storytelling with a dash of realism and suspense.
Receiving a gratis Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book was an honour, and I'm presenting my candid opinion based on my own experience. I am eternally grateful to Liz Colbert and Love Notes PR for entrusting me with reading this book beforehand.
I received this as an ARC. I read the first one before getting into this one and dare I say this one is even better... and I loved the first one! Can't wait to see which of the Callahans is next!
4.5 stars - I loved the first book, so I was very excited to read an early copy of this one, and it did not disappoint! I appreciated the slow burn and healthy approach to building a relationship (particularly with children involved and following a messy divorce). I loved that there was a solid plot throughout, and the suspense element kept me hooked.
Mostly, I love all the characters in this series and enjoy living in their world. The group text chats with all the siblings give me life!
”Who is this man and why do I feel like I kind of want to keep him?”
A cosy, feel-good slow burn and suspenseful romance in small town of Forest Falls with refreshing, mature characters (for once). Thanks so much Liz Colbert and Lovenotespr for the ARC!
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Newly divorcee and mother to three girls, Savanna, meets her ex husbands nemesis and single father to one daughter, Theo, and chooses his firm to represent her in the divorce proceedings. During the divorce, Theo becomes somewhat of a friend who is biding his time and taking the patient route before exploring their undeniable chemistry. But with their daughters, resentful ex husband, and mysterious happenings in Savannah’s household, there’s a lot a baggage to work through.
The romance was slow, and he falls for her first and hard. Normally I’m not an instant love fan but as a maturer man in his late forties with a daughter he has no time to waste so that rings true. Their blossoming relationship was realistic, and true to how older couples would navigate new relationships with kids to think of. It was refreshing! Savanna and Theo and their daughters were all so loveable. Savanna especially with her claws and fierceness, though also sweet and vulnerable at times. Also the curvy girl representation we love!
The strong family dynamic was evident throughout, with her brothers and younger sisters constant characters throughout. They all had each others backs and were more than just side characters in this. Their banter, understanding and love for each other is unmatched from any other book I’ve read. Personally, I want to be in the Callahan Calvary!
“ “You call and the Cavalry shows up,” “Without question.” “And without hesitation.”
Yep, I think I joined a cult.”
I will say that I found there to be chapters that were mostly filler and the action / plot came a bit late in the book. I also feel some inner monologues were repetitive and a little too cheesy for me but I think I may just be the wrong demographic for this book. Some of the incidents that happened I would have preferred to read in real-time rather than them discussing what happened in past tense, however I understand that there is some sensitivity around the correct process of law and topics mentioned. This is just based on my personal preferences and in no way takes away from this book!
All in all, I enjoyed this book and that the romance was realistic and HEALTHY and I definitely want to read more about the brothers. Some of the brothers are still a mystery 👀
What’s included: 💐 Mature relationship 💜 Single Dad x Single Mom 💐 Slow Burn 💜 Romantic Suspense 💐 Protective MMC 💜 Strong Family Dynamic 💐 He Falls First 💜 Curvy FMC
I so loved Liz's debut novel that I couldn't wait for the next installment in The Callahans series. Because its a romantic suspense done right with a dash of thriller and a lot of witty banter, big family gatherings and girls gang shenanigans. Because that girlfriends group is loyal and hilarious, funny and trustworthy. Anyway you want them in your corner. I so loved Savannah from Viv's story and thought that something wasn't right in her world. And she deserved a better partner than her husband. And that sneak peak was so telling that a big change is on its way. Wasn't surprised that her husband suddenly wanted a divorce. Was just surprised at the way all went down. But them there's that blessing in disguise. When changing her lawyer Savannah met Theo . And that was quite a meet cute. And Theo was so right for Savannah. He was so supportive and sensible about her situation . He was so straightforward with his intentions but he was first Savannah's lawyer and friend and took his time to get to know her. He was quite a gentleman and so right for Savannah and her girls. Savannah was fierce and smart and sassy. And what bothered her husband in her character was a major turn on for Theo. And Theo was the strong alpha male that was a great person and managed career and single parenthood with ease. And that's the difference between him and Savannah's ex . Loved it that their relationship evolved slowly from friends to lovers and they meshed their families so well. And at the same time all the little thrilling pieces of the story fall into place seamlessly that you could miss the point where you start your suspects list . At one point everything seams to go right in Savannah's life. And that triggers a chain reaction that levels up the suspense big time with an explosive conclusion. And again I didn't see that coming. Now more than ever I'm curious about Liam's story. Loved it that Savannah, Theo and their girls got their happily ever after. And this time Savannah is with the right person. It's good that there's a little happy ending for Shane, Savannah's ex . That epilogue was so good and tied up all loose ends . But that bonus chapter got me so excited and I can't wait for Jack's story.
Thanks to the author and The Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.
What do you do when you stumble upon a piece of news that is going to change life as you know it forever? What do you do when the peaceable route proves to no longer be an option? You pull out the big guns. That’s what you do, and that’s exactly what Savannah Callhan-Williams did. Enter her soon to be ex-husband’s rival & the brother to her new lawyer, Theo Smith-Harrington.
Welcome back to Forrest Falls, friends! The whole crew is back and let me tell you The Calvary does not disappoint in showing up in the most incredible ways for our girl Savannah. Where do I put my application in to join their group chats?
When I tell you that not a single detail was left out of this book; it’s not even the slightest bit of an exaggeration.
Savannah’s life is spiraling out of control. She’s been married almost 14 years & her life just got flipped on its axis all while trying to keep life for her 3 girls as normal as possible. When she walks into her new lawyers office and realizes her brother suggested her ex’s rival’s sister the games begin. Savannah is such a fierce FMC who can be ice cold when she needs to be, and sweet and loving the next. When her claws come out, watch out! I absolutely adore the growth she goes through. It’s hard and heartbreaking, but so beautiful at the same time.
Theo, oh.my.dear.heavens. This man is perfection. From the way he works with his sister, Pippa, to help ruffle his rivals feathers, to how he is instantly drawn to & protection of Savannah, to how he is the PERFECT girl dad… 🫠 The interactions Theo has with his daughter (and later Sav’s daughters) will leave you in a puddle!! Done. He wins the award for best girl dad. Period.
Also, can we talk about the plot twist!? HOLY SMOKES! Not for a single second did I see that coming. Liz has such a talent with weaving in suspense and emotion into each part of her books and this book did not disappoint. Every detail was so intricately placed that I felt like I was right there in the midst of all of the action! This book left me kicking my feet, gasping & peeking through my fingers, and just wanting to hug the main characters. There are even side characters I can’t help but hope we see in later books. I completely devoured this book!
The Callahan Family is something special and I’m itching for the rest of the family to come out! This is an interconnected standalone but I do recommend reading Letting Go first to get the full grasp of the characters. It’s so worth it!
This is my first book by Liz Colbert and she had definitely moved up the line to be a favorite! I cannot wait to go back and read book 1 and i’m EAGER to read book two (i’m hoping it’ll be a Liam/Cami story 😉)!
I am quickly realizing that the suspenseful romances are giving everything i need and more! I absolutely loved the light being shown on divorce. As much as it’s a hard topic for so many, it’s real and happens every single day and divorced women finding love in new partners should be celebrated and read / written about as well. The author handled the topic with care while also adding to the suspensefulness of the book!
Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, we turned a corner and i was dead wrong. I was actually SHOOOOOK at the conclusion IYKYK 😉
I loved the mesh of the perfect about of healing from divorce, handling divorce, romance with her new partner and the suspense aspect. I felt on the edge of my seat, while also being pissed as hell, while also being giddy and kicking my feet!
This is book 2 in the series, but can absolutely be read as a standalone (i did this, in fact)!
IMMEDIATELY go read this! it gives everything + more.
The vibes: -Romantic Suspense -Meddling (in the best way) sibling group -Protective as HECK MMC -Small Town Romance -Curvy FMC -NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP 🎉 -Single Dad x Newly Single Mom -Dual POV -Forced Proximity -He Falls First
Soaring Free was everything I hoped for in the second installment of the Callahans series—emotional, layered, and impossible to put down.
Savannah’s journey is raw and heartfelt as she faces the aftermath of a long marriage ending, all while raising her children and figuring out how to move forward. Enter Theo—a protective, devoted single dad whose own backstory adds so much depth and tenderness to the story. The way Liz Colbert builds their connection, slow burn yet filled with angst, had me completely hooked. Their chemistry, paired with the weight of real-life struggles, made this romance feel both powerful and authentic.
I loved the strong family presence woven throughout—Savannah’s support system is unwavering, and it was refreshing to see that love and loyalty play such a huge role in her healing. The suspense element was brilliantly done too. Just when I thought I had the mystery figured out, Liz pulled the rug out from under me with a twist that had me gasping.
This book is a perfect mix of romance, suspense, and second chances. It’s about resilience, family, and the kind of love that feels worth fighting for. I devoured it in two sittings and already can’t wait for the next Callahan story.
✨ Tropes you’ll find: – Romantic Suspense – Small Town Romance – Slow Burn, Forced Proximity – Single Dad x Single Mom – Protective MMC, Curvy FMC – Tight-Knit Family – No Third Act Break-Up 🙌
If you love your romance with depth, heart, and just the right touch of danger, this one’s for you.
I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of Soaring Free by Liz Colbert, and I’m so glad I did. This story is beautifully written, emotionally layered, and filled with characters that are easy to care about. From the very first chapters, I was drawn in by the quiet intensity and the strong sense of connection between the characters.
The romance is a true slow burn — the kind that simmers for a while but builds with purpose. It never feels rushed or forced, and when the emotional payoff comes, it’s deeply satisfying. The sibling dynamics really stood out for me. There’s something so authentic and heartfelt about how the family bonds are portrayed, especially with the Cavalry. Their loyalty and history add a rich depth to the story that makes the stakes feel even more personal.
Beyond the romance, there’s a compelling mystery woven through the plot involving a stalker. It adds just the right amount of suspense and danger, and it’s crafted in a way that keeps you guessing without overshadowing the emotional journey of the main characters.
Overall, Soaring Free is a wonderfully written, emotionally resonant novel that delivers both heart and intrigue. Fans of slow burn romance with a touch of suspense and strong family connections will definitely want this one on their radar.
OMG, I want a Callahan in my life. This book has it all, romance, intrigue, a sweet love story and a horde of overprotective brothers.
Right from the beginning you are drawn into the story. Savannah's life is falling apart but she knows that she has to fight for her girls and then Theodore Smith-Harrington walks into her lawyer's office. Of course she knows who he is, her soon to be ex's nemisis but that doesn't detract from his attractiveness.
This slow burn, low spice romance is a perfect read. You ache for both Savannah and Theo to find a way to be together. All the while, there is something not quite right in Savannah's life. The mystery ties in beautifully to the budding romance beween our two MC's and we see both plotlines play out simultaneously. The mystery is well written and you become totally invested in working out who is doing it all. Yes, this story is full of a lit of big characters, but they don't detract from each other and you never get lost amongst them. They are so beautifully written that you just want to know more about all of them.
Savannah's family are there for her and it doesn't take long for Theo to realise that he wants to be part of her family as well. Luckily for him, Sav is more than happy for him to be in hers and her daughter's lives. However, there is still a big obstacle in their way.
Well done Liz for bringing the world of Forest Falls and the Callahans to life. I look forward to reading more about this family and their friends in the future. Grab this book when it comes out on September 29th. 5 star all the way.
It was so great to be back in Forrest Falls with the Calvary 🥹 Theo and Savannah were such a joy to read, and unique as they were both single parents😍 There were so many beautiful moments between Sav and her kids, her own siblings (those group chats are always so fun😍) and of course with Theo ❤️
Shane is a mega douche canoe lol thank god Sav upgraded to Theo’s Queen standards because he knows how to treat her like she deserves! 🥹 The addition of the crumbs left for the romantic suspense component was well done as well!
The loss of stars for me was there were scenes that were over descriptive, making the story on the longer side, and that other scenes such as the more intimate and smut ones, were lacking more info. I want to feel that heat and passion through the pages, so I needed a bit more info for that!
Overall a truly enjoyable read yet again by Liz, and I can’t wait to read about the other siblings in the cavalry especially Jack and Liam!!!!! Thank you Liz and Love notes PR for my ARC! ❤️
The mystery part and how it was built up from the start, those little clues and then turning into something disastrous from those small, tiny details, how the plot weaves, it was amazing. Like a missing thing turning into something horrendous. The mystery plot was definitely something that I was hooked on.
Now, speaking about the characters, I love what they have, I love everything. I like the Cavalry, I liked the supporting characters, but apart from that, I just feel that they were all above 30 years of age and yet they act so childish. They act kinda like… it felt cringe while reading them. Sometimes being too boastful, sometimes such a show-off, and sometimes their talks, it sounded so childish that I couldn’t help but wonder whether they are people above 30 years of age or still stuck in their teenage phase. It was that bad.
Speaking about the Cavalry, I like that concept. The way they have their own sibling gang, and they protect each other. The way they have each other's back and can literally do anything for each other. It was so great seeing them.
I liked the book, and I was so hooked on it till the divorce part, and after that, I started to feel disconnected. The reason I was only reading the book was because of the mystery plot. I knew who the person could be; I had two guesses, and my guess turned out right. Till the divorce part, it was going great, it was going so good, but after that, I guess it started to lose its charm.
I liked how they formed a family him with his daughter and her with her daughters, and together they formed a small family of their own. I liked it, but something felt off. I can’t pinpoint it, but it always felt so off. It felt forceful. The author tried to make it feel natural, but it kind of felt forced, in my opinion.
Thank you for the ARC, and that’s my honest review.

I read this book in one day, and enjoyed the read very much. Ms. Savannah Callahan-Williams is a young women with three delightful little girls. Her husband of 13 years decides he never wanted a suburban life, and that includes her. She is devastated, and worries how it will affect the lives of her children. She quickly finds out….Shane (husband) convinces her to use his firm for a mediator to keep the divorce fair and equitable. His first action, because she doesn’t sign some documents soon enough, he freezes her bank accounts, which leaves her essentially broke. But that’s when Savannah and her family have had enough! She is very close to her family sometimes know as the Callahan Cavalry. She has four brothers with mysterious jobs that make them wealthy. Her sister Vivi (Letting Go) lives in the carriage house on her property and recently became engaged to an FBI agent. The cavalry is activated and she is no longer alone. With recommendations from her brother she hires a lawyer, Pippa Lawrence, who is a tiger in disguise. The firm also contains Pippa’s brother Theo, who Shane hates, and the feeling is mutual. Sav and Theo are immediately attracted to each other. Simple things start disappearing in her home, and she receives flowers from an unknown source. She feels she is being watched and fears for her children.
Due to her fears, Savannah and Theo become closer romantically. It is a slow burn, which adds more suspense to the direction the story is heading. The characters are wonderful, their family text streams are hysterical, and I would love to read more about them. I hope this series includes a story for Jack, Liam, Ryan, and Finn. The twists and turns are exciting and there is an amazing twist I never expected. Thank you to Love Notes for this very entertaining ARC.
✨ A newly single mom fighting for a fresh start ⚖️ meets a protective single dad who falls first 💘—but just when love begins to heal her heart, danger steps out of the shadows. 🔥🕵🏻♀️
✨ What I loved: ✔️ The slow burn with deep emotional connection — Theo’s quiet yearning and steady presence were swoon-worthy ✔️ Savannah’s strength as a fierce mother balancing heartbreak, healing, and hope ✔️ The Callahan family dynamic — loyal, funny, supportive, and always showing up like true cavalry 💪 ✔️ The perfect blend of romance, suspense, and mystery twists that kept me hooked till the last page
💭 What I wished for: 👉🏻 Some pacing moments felt a little drawn out — a tighter middle could’ve kept the suspense sharper 👉🏻 A few repetitive inner thoughts, though the emotional depth made up for it
I was so lucky to be selected as an ARC reader by Love Notes PR to give this book a read for free in exchange for an honest review. I read Letting Go first, as they are stand alones but better if read in order - and yes you should absolutely read these in order.
Savannah’s story is gripping, navigating a contentious divorce, raising 3 girls alone essentially and finding love again - throw in some absolutely mind blowing drama to tie it off made this story very hard to put down.
I love how this was a romance, but Savannah had chapters that didn’t include Theo at all as she focused on her friends, kids and family. It wasn’t all encompassing. Very well done.
Theo was everything Savannah needed in a man and I loved their story.
Beware - you’ll fall in love with the Callahan’s and won’t be able to wait for the next book to release if you dive into this series.
I signed up to be an ARC reader for this book before I’d even read the first Callahans book, because I loved the tropes!
I love the togetherness of this family, it makes you want to keep reading the entire series because we need to know what’s in store for every one of ‘The Calvary’
Savannah and Theo are meant to be from the second they meet, you can feel the chemistry as you read and although it is a slow burn you’re really really rooting for them and can appreciate the approach taken as to why they move so slowly (pending divorce, 4 kids), their love is inevitable!
The storyline keeps you guessing throughout and I had no idea who the ‘villain’ was until you actually find out so I really enjoyed that it kept me guessing!
This is a perfect small town romance/suspense and is a 4⭐️ read for me. I can’t wait for book 3!
Savannah is a mom to three little girls whose husband asks her for a divorce because he doesn’t want the small town life anymore. She goes to a law firm in town and meets her lawyer Pippa. Pippa’s brother Theo was an enemy of her ex husband but the two of them are immediately taken with each other. Theo tells Savannah she is a queen and once the divorce is finalized the two of them go on their first date. Things move quickly and heat up between them.
From the start of the story, you can’t help but root for Savannah. She is a fighter for her girls and her family. The Callahan Calvary is immediately there for her in each moment of the divorce and her new relationship. Theo is a man she can rely on. He will protect her and stand at her side or wherever she wants him. The suspense part of the story will keep you guessing until the very end and I had to stay up until 2am to find out what happened. This series is quickly becoming some of my favorite books and I can’t wait for the next one to see which of the siblings is next.
-Slowburn -Small town romance -Single mum -He falls fast
This was my first book by Liz and it was really good introduction into her world of books that she writes
The story follows Savannah and Theo , Savannah is just going through a divorce after her ex just leave so very suddenly and there was no buildup to it so she is dealing with that, so she hires Theo’s sister to be her divorce lawyer and that’s how she meet Theo and they build a connection
Theo actually has some history with Savannah‘s ex-husband as they are both lawyers
This was a really good slow burn romance and there were definitely a few twist and turns like I did not get the bad person was gonna be in this book like that I was Literally so shocked.
I will definitely be going through the backlist of Liz and definitely reading book one of this series as well
Thank you lizcolbertauthor and lovenotes.pr for an arc copy of this book. I really do appreciate it.
Thanks to the author and Love Notes PR for sending the eARC of this book✨
Wow, that was a roller coaster of emotions!! This is the first book I read by the author but I’m already looking forward to read the first one because I loved Savannah and Theo sooo much and I’m sure I’ll love Viv and Walker too 🙂↔️
I loved this story, I really enjoyed the romanced and the angsty sub plot with Savannah being watched (I’m not going to spoil anything else about this 👀🙈) and I also loved their dynamics with Savannah’s family and Theo’s family ✨ it was very cute reading about their girls and the found family they both have now ❤️
This was a very nice surprise for me and now I’m going to pretend I’ll have the patience enough to wait for next book 🙂↔️✨
**ARC Reader Review** A romantic Suspense thriller was new to me but this was definitely something I enjoyed! I am such a mood reader and this checked all the boxes for me, suspense, romance, family drama. I truly enjoyed this novel as a stand alone although I would love to go back and read book one to learn some of the other character arcs that were established when I joined the Callahan family. The way the cavalry comes to save our girl this whole novel has me SWOONY. I am not so secretly hoping we get interconnected novels with all these brothers!
This one was so good. When I got my early copy, I pretty much screamed. I really enjoyed Theo & Savannah. The way he was instantly down bad for her had me grinning almost the whole book.
I cam tell you I did not see that plot twist coming and that made me love it so much more! The way Liz drops her little breadcrumbs was so good. It kept me engaged the whole story.
And I loved the family dynamic & how close Savannah and her siblings were. Looking forward to the next in the series!
Thank you to Love Notes PR for an ARC of Soaring Free.
Soaring Free is a suspenseful tale of finding love again after heartbreak. I really enjoyed the suspense element of the story, which helped keep me hooked. I loved the found family, the blended families and Savannah's resilience. I thought the plot flowed well and enjoyed the chapters that jumped back. Without giving away spoilers I would have liked a different ending, as I found that although I was surprised initially, I found it harder to believe. Overall, a good read!
