Mothers (Book One) taught us that, even though no one can see us, we are all superheroes. The choices we make every day matter and sometimes, those choices save lives.
I'll be the first to admit that the author gave me the book in exchange for my honest review.
I never actually reviewed the first book because I was at a bit of a loss. I'm not a mom. I don't have any children and I'm not married. But, I loved the book and I loved the twists on "mother's intuition" but I wasn't sure if the book really was for me. But then, it got interesting. And I knew there would be a sequel.
So, I sit here, having read the sequel in just a few hours. Michelle Read writes in a way that is very easy to read. I honestly thought that Erin's personal thoughts were a little too much, maybe in this book. But overall, the book was very fun to read and did have some moments of darkness as one would expect to when you're dealing with a creepy villain. I will say I loved the book but honesty makes me say that there wasn't enough attention applied to the conclusion of the book. It's almost as if, almost, like the author didn't want to deal with the darkness that I felt was required for the end of the book. But, I think that overall the books are intended to be a little light, mostly happy and very much about the women. Even if, in this book, their partners got powers.
But, I suppose I shouldn't be calling Michelle Read "the author" considering that we've had conversations via email. So, to that end, to another author that I am emailing, thank you for the book, I enjoyed it.
In my experience, the 2nd book in a trilogy is either the best or the worst. I haven't read the third one yet, but I think this will be the best of the three.
Disclaimer - I received a free copy in return for a review.
I like the plot and the ideas, without giving too much away, the husbands and partners also receive powers this time and they all fight the bad guys. While the premise is fine, I think a bit more information and breadth to the story would improve this book. I had to go back and re read the part where the guys get the powers as I just wasn't sure what was going on. Some part so the book are described well, and others it feels like the author is rushing us through a scene, and it's not always clear. However I suppose these books are meant to short and sweet, and I whipped through it in a few hours.
I'll read the next one, because the author has done a good job ending on a great hook.
