PART THREE (of Four) Melanie's future hinges on her meeting with Tristan's sister, Arabella. The dragonwoman suffered at the hands of a group of dragon hunters a decade ago, and she hates humans even more than Tristan. Can Melanie find a way to break through the female dragon-shifter's barriers? And even if she does, will it be enough to convince Tristan to give her a chance?
Sacrificed to the Dragon: Part Three is 15,300 words of dragon-shifter/BBW romance. It is the third entry in the Sacrificed serial, chronicling Melanie Hall's efforts to fulfill her contract and conceive a dragon-shifter child. The story contains strong sexual themes and language, and is not intended for readers under the age of 18. These stories are meant to be read in order. Thank you!

Jessie Donovan has sold over half a million books, has given away hundreds of thousands more to readers for free, and has even hit the NY Times and USA Today bestseller lists. She is best known for her dragon-shifter series, but also writes about magic users, aliens, and even has a crazy romantic comedy series set in Scotland. When not reading a book, attempting to tame her yard, or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, she can often be found interacting with her readers on Facebook. She lives near Seattle, where, yes, it rains a lot but it also makes everything green.
*Review for all 4 parts of “Sacrificed to the Dragon”...2.5 STARS* I started this little shifter serial on an impulse recommendation. The whole “dragon-shifter” aspect had me piqued. I went in with low expectations as it IS a serial-which I’m prone to not liking-and because…hello it’s about DRAGON-SHIFTERS! Cool? YES…also the makings for some weirdness….
I’m reviewing this as a whole rather than piece by piece, but I WILL tell you, if you are reading them individually be prepared as they END abruptly….
The whole SHIFTER world that the author created is really interesting and what really drew me to the story….how humans cohabitate with the shifters in a very segregated ignorant way, but we also have this crazy ass “sacrificing” barter system to make babies for healing blood? YEAH.
The “Clans” aspect was cool…the story is a very strong stubborn female meets alpha asshole and within a short time they break each other down and fall in love. It’s a classic HEA with all the erotic steaminess thrown in for good measure.
One thing I couldn’t decide if I LOVED or HATED was that the “dragon half” of the shifter was almost it’s own being…so it would converse internally with the “human half”…..very instinctual beings hmmn? Sometimes funny…sometimes…weird. I don’t even know.
I would definitely be curios to keep going with the series and see what happens to the other characters, over all it wasn’t BAD just a good zone out read.
Sacrificed to the Dragon: Part Three is really where this story begins to shine. Jessie Donovan finally introduces her engaging writing skills in a few short chapters, and I am now more than ready for part 4 of Tristan and Melanie's story.
One aspect I am enjoying very much is the splendid cast of secondary characters here. From Bram, the dragon clan leader, to Tristan's sister Ara and even Mel's friend, Samira. They all have distinct personalities, and I would love to get Bram and Ara's books sometime in the future. They are full of intrigue, and I simply want to know more.
As for Tristan and Mel, their relationship is finally starting to pick up, and its so very nice to see Tristan finally opening up to Mel and getting rid of his hatred towards humans. The sexual chemistry is ever present, and when it finally does explode...its sooo worth the wait. HOT!
Surprisingly, the ending of this book didn't leave me frustrated, rather the opposite. It leaves off with a intriguing cliffhanger with just the right amount of apprehension added to keep me glued to the pages, and leave me wondering what's going to happen next.
Part Three is a definite step-up from the first two parts for which I am very glad! On to the last part! :)
By this point in the serial Donovan has set up the scenery in the dragon sanctuary perfectly. It’s very easy to picture. I loved the closer look at the inner workings of dragon-shifter society that we now get. It was enlightening and very entertaining. On top of that, the story remains as intriguingly insightful as the rest of the series, building on what came before it. Donovan’s emotional writing brings everything to a poignant head with the unmistakable, yet oh-so-tantalizing cliff-hanger that she leaves us with.
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the main characters better in this instalment. They become even more real than they were in previous instalments. They’re also more rounded. Tristan’s newfound knowledge of himself and his true beliefs were quite enlightening.
This was a phenomenal addition to Donovan’s Sacrificed to the Dragon serial. I love the new outlook she takes on the genre without completely dismissing it. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys the paranormal (but would suggest reading it in order).
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
This series of short books is really not letting me go, and this instalment in the series was lulling me into a false sense of security which was absolutely crushed in the last three lines making me want to read the next book instantaneously.
The main characters are Tristan and Melanie, Tristan is an overpowering dragon and Melanie a stubborn mother to be. Melanie has been taken in by another two dragons after Tristan decided he was still fighting against his dragons wants. While Tristan is slowly starting to get his head around the idea of having Melanie around; the two characters are perfect together although they are struggling to see it.
There are a lot of secondary characters but I didn’t feel that they were in this book for enough to give me an impression that I can review.
The pacing of the book is great for a book so short and it did keep me on my toes and guessing until the very last minute then gave me an ending that drew me straight back in to these characters. The storyline is similar to other books I’ve read but I enjoyed it none the less and will be reading the next book shortly.
I never thought the day I hated the word "fuck" would come. Well this book, did that for me. I used the word "fuck" on a regular basis, and never gave it much thought as I did reading Sacrificed to the Dragon. It was just plain awful.
Wetness rushed between her legs in the thought of Tristan wanting her so badly that he'd rip off her clothes just so he could fuck her.
And, of course, fucking the shit out of her tight, perfect pussy.
Really?
I don't know if is just me, but that was a major turn off for me. Without counting, Donovan probably used the word "fuck" about only a few pages long. Her vocabulary choices seems to be limited and just gross. There are a countless of ways to describe sex. Is not just, fucking. If reading the word fuck over and over was supposed to make me feel hot all over then this was a complete fail.
The cover is beautiful :) I love it, and it definitely grabs my attention to pick it up. Very steamy :)
I’m not feeling very well this weekend, and I decided last night to read in bed. I can’t believe how quickly I was at the end. Things you may want to know, this is a serial novella series. What does this mean? This means you must read them in order or you will be lost. Also this episode is only about 50 pages. I have read several serials now, and Jessie does a fantastic job of meshing them together and stopping at place that makes sense and feels right. You don’t feel like someone slammed the door in your face so to speak.
Okay Tristan is starting to grow on me, and I didn’t want to slap him once in this episode :) Melanie is of course awesome. I love her fighting spirit, but she is also caring and kind. She is the type of female lead I love to read about :) I’m very curious about Arabella, but I haven’t made any decisions yet about what I think about her.
I highly recommend this series to all my shifter friends who love dragons. This serial is complete now, so please don’t let that stop you from enjoying a wonderful story :) I’m off to read part 4 :)
Meeting Tristan’s sister, Arabella may help Melanie convince Tristan to give her chance, especially if she can find a way to break through the dragon females barriers in this mesmerizing novella.
The third part of the story continues to enthrall readers with drama and excitement as Melanie and Tristan try to reach a compromise in their relationship. The story comes to life with well written scenes and details and strong compelling characters.
Melanie wants things to work out between her Tristan even if they could just be friends for the sake of their child, of course the attraction that continues to sizzle between them leads to some hot and steamy sex and Tristan’s dragon is putting pressure on Tristan as well.
Melanie’s visit with Arabella adds emotional depth to the story not only because of Arabella traumatic past but also because it pushes some issues between Tristan and Melanie and the reader can’t help but get emotionally caught up in her story which ensures they want to know more about her as well as Melanie and Tristan’s romance and I can’t wait to read the next novella.
Complete book one of the stonefire clan series. I think this book was originally published in separate parts then in a complete boxset/book. Makes it confusing when you trying to put in in your reading shelf on GR. Mel brother has survived cancer and gone into remission but because his brother dy is week he now has a antibiotics resistant infection and will die without dragon blood that can cure him. Mel decides to become a sacrifice for the dragons which means agreeing to be a mate to a male dragon and part of the contract states she must bear his baby then can decide to leave or stay. Tristan has hate humans ever since they attack and captured his mother killing her and brutality hurting his younger sister. When Bram his clan leader pulls him into his office saying it's time he take a human sacrifice Tristan is not happy but can't say no. Really loved this world JD has created. Really loved that Mel and Tristan didn't get on and they had to develop their relationship almost all the way through book. Loved ending and HEA.
This part of the book mainly stems of Melanie getting to know some of the community, mostly the children. Bram, the head dragon, has offered her the job of teaching the young ones about humans. Her direct approach of handling their questions with honest answers quickly wins over the children as well as the teachers but her biggest challenge is yet to come. Can she win over Arabella, Tristan’s sister that was attacked by dragon hunters and watched her mother die at their hands?
This was a another quick read since the book is done in parts rather than a whole. While Tristen seems to be coming around there is a quite the cliff hanger that happens at the end that could cause him to go back to his old human hating ways but I have a feeling that is dragon will him check because he’s already head over heels for her and isn’t’ going to give her up without a fight. The fourth book and final book in the series has already been released.
I like the story, but hate that it was given out in parts. One story chopped into parts, not a big overall story continued over 4 or 5 book with each book having a small sub story (or couple) completed. It's like taking a paperback and tearing it into 3 or 4 parts and giving you one portion at a time.
I won't even think of the next "book" until all the parts have been released.
I like the characters. This one is about Melanie & Tristan. He hates humans, and she wants to save her brother & is curious about the dragons. She's spunky, he's cranky. Good bunch of characters.
For the entire story I'd give it 3 - 4 stars, but for being chopped into pieces I'd give it 1 star. It was disruptive to read it in pieces.
I liked how Christian dragon kept telling him that Mel was there's and should g to her,and the more he saw her the more he agreed with his dragon, and when he took her to meet his sister she held her own really well, because she didn't like humans and they a little mouth battle, then he realized his sister still had a part of the dragon inside of her and he now knew she needed help,so he called Bram to come and help her, then Thurston and Mel left him cause he decided he wanted to take her home he didn't want her to live anywhere except with him,and he wanted to make love to her so bad he couldn't hold it to geather much longer,it is a really good story it is a must read cause I couldn't tell you every thing that goes on so it is a must read
This review is for all 4 parts of this series. This is a series about a different kind of world. A world where shape-shifting dragons live in England and need human females to bear their young. It was kind of a little out there but surprisingly a good read. In this book, Melanie is desperate to save her brothers life and the only thing that will do it is blood of a dragon. Howver, there is a catch she has to pretty much live with a dragon and have his kids. I have read books with something like this concept before and haven't love them. However, this was actually a good read. The characters were fun and the story was fast paced and still had a good mix of steam thrown in. If you are looking for a good shapeshifting book give this a shot.
I loved Tristan's Dragon side, I loved seeing his thoughts, "she shook her head against his chest. “For some reason, your scent calms my stomach.” His inner dragon hummed. Our scent helps her. She will want us always by her side." I'm falling in love with this new Tristan that we're seeing, “all three, little human.” He moved his hand to her arse and took a possessive grip on her right, squishy cheek. “You belong to me, and I want the entire clan to know it.” I'm so excited to see how Tristan's story ends.
I absolutely loved this story as much as I did part 1&2 in this awesome series. Love the storyline and the characters....who doesn't love a strong dominant alpha male and his strong-willed mate! Cannot wait for part 4!!!
Merged review:
OMG it was awesome! You just have to love Tristan, all possessive alpha male and Melanie, strong, outspoken and compassionate. I love the way the story is heading and I'm so looking forward to reading part 4!
So far i have read the three separate parts, i dont want to give the story away by posting a spoiler, so all ill say is ...... These books are fabulous, completely different from any other dragon shifter books ive read, and i love them, really hoping for more books in the same series after part 4.
Jessie has other Shifter books too, i highly recommend the author, and the books, fabulous storyline, love the characters, if you havent read them yet, please do, you wont be disappointed xxx
Melanie and Tristan are getting closer...Close enough for her to meet the family? Apparently so which leads to the meeting of Arabella, aka "Ms. I Hate Humans". Finally a female dragon!! Albeit brief, Melanie's meeting with Arabella does improve her relationship with Tristan. There has not really been any danger to the dragons thus far but it is lurking on the horizon. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 3 stars.
Melanie meets with Tristan's sister who witnessed their mother murdered and was abused and tortured by anti dragon extremists. She tries to help her break through her fear of leaving the cottage. Tristan realizes what a great "human" he has and vows to protect her. I liked this part of the book. We get to see a little more of the leader Bram. Tristan seems to catch up on his feelings for Melanie, feelings his dragon half already has. Look forward to Part 4 to see what happens.
Getting hopeful I love this 3rd installment to the series. Some wonderful things are starting to happen. Well written and very entertaining to read. Getting hopeful that Melanie and Tristan just might work out yet. Melanie is starting to see another side of Tristan that’s not an A**hole. I bought this book from All Romance site. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Dragons. I have always had an attraction to dragons. Melanie and Tristan have more than stubbornness in common, but the importance of family is what will keep them together. Arabella,Tristan's sister will have to have her own story, Jessie. But everything had been going along to well; when Tristan's phone rang.
Part 3. We get 6 chapters in this one. More sex, but it's still pretty raunchy. I like the general story though. Tristan is overcoming his "assholery" (Mel's word). He's starting to treat Mel better. He's also trying to help his sister, Arabella to get over her trauma. Mel is pregnant & starting to have feelings for Tristan (when he's not acting like an asshole).
Don't know how Jessie Donovan does it but I'm really loving this dragon guy more and more. I like the way she makes feel what the characters feel. It's also nice to learn that Tristan is coming around and really caring for his "little human". Book is good...good enough to make me want to read the next in series!
This series is wonderfully detailed and has really captured my attention I would recommend if you love shifter books to grab them all or the box set(wish I'd found this out earlier) and just read the story as one book. I'm enjoying the storyline but find myself frustrated that it ends at a really great point and them I need to get the next one. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
Melaine has begun to make head way with Tristan by helping to begin the healing process of his sister Arabella. Tristan begins to see Melaine in a new light and he and his dragon are finally starting to think as one. Will this new thought process survive when challenges occur that are out of Melanie's control?
This installment is a turning point for Tristan. The author does a very nice job of slowly evolving his character from one who is full of hatred to one who is able to see past his hurt. Melanie is a key factor to his change of heart which makes the story all the more delicious.
I am anxious to read what's in store for this unlikely dragon-human couple next.
