Zhui Ning Chang is a queer Malaysian editor, writer, translator and theatre maker based in London, UK.

They are editor-in-chief at khōréō, a Hugo-nominated and IGNYTE-winning magazine of speculative fiction and migration. Additional editorial credits include co-editing The Best of Malaysian Short Fiction in English 2010-2020, co-editing Latin American Plays in Translation, assistant editing SFWA’s Publishing Taught Me essay series, and freelance book editing.

Zhui Ning’s writing includes the time travel adventure Asian Pirate Musical and queer romcom Seashore Yuanfen, as well as short stories, translations, and articles published with PEN Malaysia, This is Southeast Asia, Science Fiction Studies, Strange Horizons, The BSFA Review, and more.

Currently, Zhui Ning is pursuing a PhD at Birkbeck, University of London, researching race, decoloniality, and the publishing economy via Southeast Asian speculative fiction.

This issue of khōréō had 6 stories. My favorite was probably "The Last Flesh Figure Skaters" by Claire Jia-Wen, though Cindy Phan's "The Universe & Miss Debbie" was fun, too.
