The series continues and my love hate relationship with the books continues. They are perfect when life is busy as I don't feel the need the cancel life to see what's going to happen next. I just find them really amateur and unrealistic. Well, I hope they are unrealistic as if there are police officers like this out there, there really is no hope!

Two stars.

At time of posting this series is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Book 9 in the Justice series. Wow so much has happened and changed since book 1. This is one of those series that one day you know you just have to start all over again and re read them all.

In Tortured Justice - Lorne is back and still working for the met, she's now been back 12 month. And is a Detective Sergeant , along with her partner Detective Inspector Katy Foster they have a new case to solve, A man has been found dead outside a local hospital.
Before to long more bodies start to turn up, and we are soon thinking this is the same killer, and if it is Why. When reading the book, you know the who and why, but you need to know how Lorne and Katy are going to figure things out, can they piece things together and find out why these men are being murdered?

Along side working for the met, Lorne is still interfering in the day to day running of her dog rescue center which is now run by Lorne's Husband Tony, a former MI6 officer, and Lorne's daughter Charlie. We also see a return of Carol, her character I just can't help but like. I also felt like I really knew some of the new characters and could really put faces to their names. Amazing. (anyone who is friends with Mel on Facebook, or follows any of her groups, will know what i mean)
The story, like all other stories written by Mel Comley is just a fantastic enjoyable read. I can't believe how excited I get when I know the new book is out, and again, i am eagerly awaiting the next one... (No pressure, hey Mel)

In Mel Comley's latest Justice series instalment, 'Tortured Justice', our beloved heroin DS Lorne Warner and her partner DI Katy Foster are faced with a very bizarre case.

First a man is found dead in the street, his cause of death unknown. His body displays very unusual injuries. Murder weapon unknown. After a few days, in the vicinity of the murder, two men - brothers - disappear without trace after leaving their working place. CCTV footage of the scene yields more questions than answers. Are these crimes linked?

When more men start to disappear off the face of the earth, Lorne knows that she's on a race against time to solve this riddle. What's happening to these men? Where are they? Are they being randomly selected or is there some motive? Are they being held captive or are they being murdered? Who is behind this?

From the outset, the reader knows who's the mind and what's the reason behind these crimes, but it certainly won't be easy for Lorne, Katy and their team to find all the pieces to solve the puzzle.

Apart from solving these disappearances and the murder, Lorne finds herself desperately helping a dog and her pups in distress and on the hunt for the heartless individual who abandoned them.

Like the rest of the Justice series, this was a very satisfying read that kept my interest piqued at all times. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves to read good suspensful mysteries.

I haven't a clue how this book escaped me. Suffice to say I've now read & devoured, and what a cracker of a book it is. You can see the author's love of waifs & stray animals shining through the pages which immediately draws me into the storyline. I shudder to think what the main villain would have done to a four-legged friend if she'd been given the opportunity. Thank goodness she wasn't!! Lorne & the team at their superb best. An interesting plot which deviates from the norm in this series but a fantastic read all the same.

Tortured Justice is the ninth book in the Lorne Simpkins series and boy what a book!

The author has really excelled herself this time with the storyline for this book. I absolutely loved it!

With two crimes very different to each other, Lorne as usual has her work cut out for. One crime being the abuse of poor Onyx and her pups that she has rescued, which Lorne makes it her mission to find the monster who has treated the dog so badly. There is also something very wrong in her work life when a dead man turns up who is killed with an unusual object, then another two men disappear which leave Lorne and Katy at a bit of a loss as to who and why these crimes are being carried out.

As usual the author has created another gripping story that just goes by to quick as I know once I have picked it up I am unable to put it down until I finish it.

I love the usual characters in the series as they feel very much like my family over the nine books now that I have read. I have to say I especially love Carol and I am sure that while she is around, life will certainly be interesting.

Another great read in the series!

What an interesting change of pace for the Justice Series when we find out there's some role reversal in the killings - revenge at its best.

For me, Tortured Justice was a real 'at home' book with Lorne. We're really invited into the character further with her love for dogs, family and friends. Which is great. It reminds me how far the series has come since the first one.

I love it when Tony gets involved with the cases, I definitely hope there's so more of this in the series...

A really interesting book, looking at the weird and strange things that go on behind closed doors. It's also good to have a shake-up and know who the murderer is and why they're doing it. Feels like I'm on the side-line then cheering Lorne and Katy on in finding the clues!

Carol saves the day.

Tony & Charlie are running the rescue ,whilst Lorne continues as a DS in the Met.The
The latest rescue pup is a female boxer suffering from demodectic mange & her four puppies. She was found tied up and her pups were bound in a black rubbish bag.
Lorne contacts the local tv station and Lorne's rescue, Omux and her pups are featured along with a request to the public to notify the rescue of anyone is aware of the owner who has so badly treated these dogs.
The name Gary Metcalfe comes up a few times, when Lorne gets home the next day all dogs, boarders and rescues alike have deliberately let out and Onyx & pups are missing.
Metcalfe is responsible & Tony & Lorne recover Onyx and her babies after that night.
The main storyline is the disappearance of men from their home or workplace, without trace.
Take a psycho woman with deluded ideas of her own 'powers ', who has somehow converted abused women her local book club, to vengeful people who want payback, and she is just the one to do it.
The location for this torture ,which she seems appropriate ,is the cellar of her deceased parents house. To which she has had a builder make alterations, she feels in keeping with her ambitions & desires.
With her disciples in tow, she sets out on stage one of her plan, which doesn't go her way.
There are some screwed up people in this world, and Lorne attracts them like flies.

Fantastic!

Another great book in this series! And original! Though we knew who the suspects were from the beginning, the suspense was on! Although, the suspects all would have said their victims were the real criminals. It was fast paced and twisty turny in all the right places. The subplot was almost heartbreaking, but in the end, there will be only love, and lots of it!! Just like it should be in that situation! Looking forward to the next book in the serie!!!

Bizarre case of a man’s death. When two brothers turn up missing. Then finding a dog with her pups, looking starved, and now a big vet bill, but who dump them. Tony has some input on a case, which is nice added touch. Lorne been back working for 12 months, and is in her eliminate figuring out the murders. Another case this one being two cases to figure out.

Love love love these books!! I’ll be sad when they’re done. There’s just so much action and suspense with a few twists and turns and a little romance. Love the characters.

Again M.A. Comley has managed to weave different store lines involving Lorne's daughter, husband & her friend Carol along with her police family. I must say the main choice of 'torture' used that Lorne & Katie discover are both unique, surprising & OMG...you cannot put down this book down.

The Justice Series is one that I can always count on to keep me entertained and up reading late into the night, even when I need my sleep! Tortured Justice, book #9, is no exception. Lorne Warner, DS, and Katy Foster, DI, are teamed up again to find the cause of the death of a man dumped at the front of a hospital. At first it seems like an attack gone wrong, but as more men turn up missing, strange evidence comes to light (along with some psychic information from friend, Carol) that leads the investigators to wonder if these mean are in fact being kidnapped, held and maybe tortured by a group of women. Will these two be able to find the missing men before there is more death? And will they be able to stop the women before one of their own ends up being tortured too?

Another running theme in the Justice books is the peek we get into the private life of Lorne. Comley always has a background story of Lorne's family life playing out alongside the main plot. In this book Lorne and her family find an abused dog and her puppies and bring them to their rescue shelter run by Charlie and Tony (Lorne's daughter and husband) to nurse back to health and hopefully find a new family for the dogs. Lorne's good deed ends up taking a turn for the worse when the former owner of the dog decides to take revenge. Lorne, Charlie and Tony all play a part in this side plot as well, working to solve the mystery of the horrible animal abuser and trying to bring him to justice. We also see that Tony is getting restless being a caretaker at the dog shelter, wanting more of the action he had as an M1 Agent. It's fun to see Tony get more of his backbone back after playing doggy daycare worker for so long. He's a tough guy who needed more of some tough situations to handle.

This is a fast-paced book that grabs you from page 1, not for the squeamish, and as always Comley gives us a wonderful thriller that will keep you gasping and worried for our favorite heroins until the very last page. Another winner in the Justice Series! Can't wait for the next, but with Comley, you know it won't be long before Justice #10 is in our hands.

I somehow managed to read book 10 before this book. That didn't impact on my enjoyment, though. In fact, I would say that this book is probably my favourite book so far in the series! So much happened in this book and I found it impossible to put down (I told myself I would read a few chapters before bed and ended up staying up until 2am finishing it!). I loved seeing all my favourite characters again and, without giving anything away, I absolutely loved the ending!

Loved it!

In this book, Katy and Lorne investigate the death of one man and the disappearance of several more. Though I prefer the stories where Lorne was the DI in charge of investigations, I love seeing Katy also in charge. I have one more book to read in the Justice series and I think I will cry when I read the last page. I desperately hope there will be another book coming out soon!

Where do those other people get off giving this book four stars? The author should have shredded this book before she sent it to the publishers! First of all, there is the disturbing thing about a person torturing a dog. M A Comley isn't the first person to include this--how disgusting! THen, we have a group of women plotting to kill their husbands or exhusbands for mistreating them. Get real. Get so much settlement in a divorce that he has to scrub toilets for a living!

Lorne has her feet firmly under the table back at the Met now and is called upon to investigate the case of some missing men. Have they really been abducted as it appears or have they gone of their own accord?

Lorne and her family are also trying to keep the kennels afloat particularly when they acquire a new dog and her pups who are in need of vet care.

Another fast paced story which I would whole heartedly recommend.
