I did not receive a review copy of this book. I participated in a kickstarter campaign. There are still number issues in this one. Three million becomes two million when dealing with the earth system evacuations, but that seems to be a trend in this series, so I'll just let that slide. Otherwise though, for the most part, I thought the story flowed well, even if there were parts that seemed unnecessary. There were two chapters cut from the book that would have explained a little better where some of the characters came from, but I do understand why they were cut, even if I think it would have been better to include at least one of them. I'm also not sure if I like the ending, where the main character, and the ship departed for parts unknownafter everything else was dealt with on the human world. But other than those minor quibles, I found the story to be enjoyable, even if I did think some of the battles could have been avoided, and hwo some of the other issues were dealt with didn't always make sense, it's still a pretty good story, and one I think most readers of the series will find acceptable, if not entirely adequate. Perhaps there will be other books in a similar series to continue the storyline from the point where this trilogy ended. If so, I'd be happy to read them. Now, off to find something else to read.
We all know that Life simply is.... indeterminable. Sometimes good, sometimes not and sometimes simply...okay. For the human race, having been conquered by the Ornu, life turned dismal as slaves to aliens...and Earth destroyed. Until Bill Henderson encountered an ancient spaceship now called Omega. In Infinite Warship became a vessel to escape the Ornu and the hope of getting humanity to a new planet all of their own. But Life is Life is Life. There is no way the Ornu will allow the humans to escape. And life happens to become more deadly.... The plot of Infinite Warship is brilliantly compiled to have the reader experience life on the run for the humans with ever increasing deadly war skirmishes, doubt, trying to survive against all odds. And added to this is the introduction of yet a darker and more dangerous creature and his name is Teraphim. Infinite Warship is quite a tome succeeding well in keeping the reader immersed in a rare and convuluted space war page by page as reality outside this book becomes surprisingly ...vague. For hours. Enjoy
What a fantastic story to read. Captain Bill Henderson and his crew are on the Omega. There is so much going on with the civilians on board wanting to get to a permanent home. Bill wants to satisfy that, but first, there are other humans out there who are vassals of the Ornu. They find who they can, including the Floating Colonies where Earthlings have been for decades, then prepare for war with the Ornu. The Ornu leadership is in trouble when the Emperor is murdered and his son, Decimus, takes over, but he is but a child in an adult body. And there are the voidlings who can tear through ships and must eat flesh continuously. So much to look out for. Thank you, Scott Bartlett, for bringing another story to light. Easy to feel like you're there with the wonderfully descriptive way you tell your story. Looking forward to the next book/series you write.
In the third book in the Starship Omega series the crew has been trying to save as many humans as possible by raiding outposts known to have prisoners. This initially worked, however they now seem to always be landing in traps. Bill Henderson takes the ship back to Earth and finds there are survivors, even though Earth has been destroyed. New allies are introduced.
There has been a change in the leadership of the Ornu. They are now led by a more ruthless Ornu and who himself is following a darker being. The search for Omega intensifies and leads them to a system that has the world they were looking for but also has humans with a connection to the Hendersons. The story continues to be interesting and moves at a good pace. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I don't know why, I have read previous books by Scott and Joshua and thoroughly enjoyed them. This series was OK but just didn't hold me like their previous books. I cannot say if it was the characters, the story line, the Ornu and or other species but I couldn't get into it as I usually do with their stories. It could just have been me being over reading and jaded. Just hope it was a temporary thing as I am an ardent reader. Hope.other people enjoy it more than I did.
These two super story tellers have combined worlds, aliens, science and pure human fortitude….hmmmm flat out stubbornness to never ever just go away, into a thoroughly enjoyable deep dive ie (binge read) series of memorable characters full of life. Thanks.
I really enjoyed the scope and detail of this story. I was disappointed at the guilt of the crew at times but that is probably how some people feel. The ending makes me think there will not be another direct book in this story line but did leave possibility for related stories.
I have to admit it took me awhile to get into the book but once I did the series flowed quite freely. I'm not sure how much military experience the authors have but being prior military there were a few things that I found that were questionable but not much. Overall I thought it was a book well worth reading
Have read and thoroughly enjoyed the final chapter in this series of books, characters and storyline excellent and the book keeps your interest to the very satisfactory ending. I can recommend this book very highly . Buy and enjoy.
Scott and Joshua did a great job on this series. Well written and executed. Enough twists and turns to keep you guess along with a great storyline that keeps you from putting these books down. Thank you Scott and Joshua!
Entire series is a good story, but one battle after another is a bit tiresom
Good story in all three books of this series. Reading all 3 books became hard work because it was one battle after another with very little in between.
I loved this 3rd and final book in the Starship Omega series. It was amazing! A great ending, and I really loved the epilogue, too! I may listen to this series again, and part of that is because Mark Boyett is one of my favorite narrators.
