ARC Review 🖍️ for Evermore by Vyk Peters

It would be weird if I didn’t write this review…

Because Evermore gave me chaotic giggles, emotional warmth, and a very real urge to teleport myself straight into the High Tea & Co café. Shelby and Corbin?. Bipolar opposites in the most deliciously satisfying way like black coffee and overly sweet rainbow sprinkles, and somehow it just works.

I’ll admit… I had to Google nearly every crayon colour mentioned because I had NO idea what half of them looked like. Vyk, I’m convinced you raided a Crayola factory and said “YES, let’s describe life through colour metaphors and leave everyone laughing at the names” And honestly? Iconic. The way you describe things? It had me giggling and awe-ing in the same paragraph.

And can we TALK about Blake? That little chaotic menace of a brother lit up every scene like a walking gremlin with a heart of gold. I want to wrap him in bubble wrap and also give him a reality show. ( does he get his own book?)

But the real kicker? The visits to the places their mums once loved my cold dead heart warmed up like a microwave burrito. Such a gorgeous tribute to memory and love, and I felt it in my soul, okay?!

10/10. Sweet, short, chaotic, heartwarming. I inhaled it like a cup of tea on a rainy day and now I just wanna go vibe at a fictional café and Google more crayon colours.

Two childhood best friends have babies at the same time, secretly hoping their kids will grow up to be just as close—or maybe even fall in love. Sounds like a bit of a cliché, right?

But Vyk brings something truly heartfelt to this story. Corbin and Shelby’s bond is beautifully written. Even after Shelby’s family moved back to Canada, they stayed connected over the years. It’s not until Shelby returns to Australia to sort out some unfinished business that they’re finally reunited.

Watching their friendship spark back to life was such a joy. They describe their days in crayon colours—something so simple, yet deeply meaningful. You can really feel how much they mean to each other.

I was only 19% in when I found myself tearing up. The emotions felt so honest and real.

I read the whole book in one sitting. It was the kind of sweet, comforting love story that completely pulls you in—definitely a shift from my usual reads, but one I adored.

Vyk has such a way with words. If you love best friends-to-lovers, open and honest communication, and a road trip full of shared memories, this book is for you.

Men written by women = 10/10.
Men written by Vyk Peters = ♾️/10.

Wow. I had to take the entire afternoon just to gather myself after finishing this book. What a love story!

Evermore is soft and tender, wild and passionate, at exactly the right moments. A romantic tale for the ages, full of sweetness, spice, and spontaneity. Shelby & Corbin’s journey had me laughing, crying, cringing and blushing from cover to cover.

Vyk Peters doesn’t just write romance, she crafts it. Her ability to balance emotion, tension and heat is next-level. You feel everything her characters go through and you root for them with your whole heart.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves heartfelt romance with a touch of fire. 🔥

Thank you to Vyk for selecting me as an ARC reader, this was a masterpiece. Evermore releases August 1st! 🩵

Evermore is such a beautiful reminder that the time we have on this earth and the people we share it with, is so much more important than the daily grind of work and pleasing managers and coworkers who mean nothing to you in the grand scheme of things.

We start the book with Shelby who lands in Australia from Canada with her mums old diary, a plan to road trip to all the places her mum had visited in her early life, a carefree attitude and her parents ashes. She's met at the airport by her childhood best friend who she's been in constant contact with but hasn't seen since she left almost 18 years previous. And immediately the sparks fly.

Corbin is the stoic, dependable and fun MMC we all want to meet irl, and he is instantly smitten with the touchy girl of his youth (who he's harboured feelings for, his entire life). Used to his own company and not having many meaningful connections, he is carried away with her energy and zest for life.

We then follow them on an up and down road trip across Australia as Shelby releases ashes and her own grief while the two become entwined on more than one level.

I related to Shelby in so many ways, though I wish I could be more free sprited, but the loss of both parents can weigh heavily, making you feel alone and unmoored and I found myself crying happy (and sad) tears at some of the scenes and memories Shelby held dear of her lost loved ones. Vyk has handled this incredibly tough topic with grace and a humour I resonated with.

So if you love:

- friends to lovers
- grief acceptance
- dealing with loss
- dual POV
- free spirit FMC
- stoic, cinnamon roll MMC
- he falls first
- road trip
- overcoming fears

Then please read this incredible book and fall in love with Shelby and Corbin as much as I did. I read this one prior to the official publication date.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — A Sensual, Sweet, and Soulful Read

As a reader, there’s nothing more satisfying to me than an author who can write the hell out of descriptive writing—and Vyk Peters absolutely delivers. When it's done right, it’s more than just words on a page. You feel it. You see it. The scenes come alive, especially the spicy ones, where it shifts from heat to something deeply sensual. Vyk has this incredible gift for weaving chemistry and intimacy into every single interaction, and Evermore is a masterclass in that.

Shelby and Corbin? Perfection. The slow burn, the tension, the longing—I was eating it up like it was my last damn meal. That first scene? The tickling scene? And when Corbin whispered, “I’ve got you”? I MELTED. Like an actual puddle.

This opposites attract romance hit me right in the heart. It reminded me so much of my own relationship—Shelby being bubbly, bright, and completely unfiltered, while Corbin is the shy, quiet storm. Their dynamic was electric, every look and lingering touch charged with a chemistry that sizzled off the page. I found myself holding my breath just waiting for one of them to finally take the leap.

I also loved the subtle nod to the Hearts footy team—a little treat for those of us who adore Vyk’s other series. It was the perfect blend of familiarity and something fresh. Evermore is such a sweet, tender, childhood best friends-to-lovers story that owned my heart from beginning to end. It felt like wrapping a gift and tying it with the most beautiful bow.

I adored this book and cannot wait for the next installment in the Love In The Valley series. The way Vyk set up the characters toward the end? She knows what she’s doing, and I am all in.

“And I think you’ve always been mine — always and in all ways.” 💞
Cue me gently sobbing into my metaphorical mitten.

Evermore is a transnational holiday romance where the scenery isn’t just background filler, it’s practically the third lead character. Think: coastlines, sleepy towns, and cafés that smell like new love brewing softly.

Shelby and Corbin are the kind of characters you don’t read so much as recognise. The all aching glances and unspoken history, stitched together with the slow burn tension of a friend-to-lovers trope (my forever fav). Toss in a generous dash of Vyk Peters’ signature sensual spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️, and you’ve got a recipe for a romance that doesn’t just simmer — it smoulders.

But what really makes this story sing? The language of crayon colours. Yes, crayon colours. Shelby and Corbin don’t just talk about feelings — they shade them in.

Bittersweet: the hue of longing and knowing you’re late, but maybe not too late.

Blush: shy, hopeful, skin-on-skin kind of affection, soft as a secret kept too long.

Sunglow: joy that catches you by surprise, like the golden hour when you realise you’re safe with someone that has always been in your life.

This book made me want to pack a bag, cue up a nostalgic playlist, and drive off toward unresolved feelings and scenic emotional closure.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4 stars — because sometimes love speaks in soft colours and says everything without needing to shout

Omg Vyk. You’ve done it again. Thank you for allowing me to read this as an ARC

You have this magical way with words that turns me into the sappiest romance girlie, and I’m absolutely here for it. Evermore tugged so hard on my heartstrings—I even shed a tear or two. The themes of love, loss, and the enduring pull of family are woven so beautifully throughout the story.

Shelby’s journey hit me right in the feels. After losing her mum, she decides to honour her by recreating the iconic road trip her mum once took across Australia. It’s not just about the stops along the way (though I adored the diary entries and how they brought her mum’s voice back to life)—it’s about the healing, the reconnection, and the quiet strength in moving forward while holding onto the past.

The little details made this book sparkle—references to crayons and playdough, the Hearts AFL team from the Kings series (if you haven’t read that yet, you need to), and of course, the swoony romance that crept up on me in the best way.

I’m once again left lost for words. Just pure magic.
Where do I find myself a road trip companion like Corbin?

Thank you so much Vyk for this arc! I had a wonderful time reading Shelby and Corbin's love story!

Release date: 1st August

Check trigger warnings for this one!

We've got friends to lovers, holiday romance, road trip around Australia, spicy scenes🤭, and love and banter!
It's always the quiet ones you need to look out for and that is the definition of Corbin😉
Shelby was so funny! She spoke her mind and wasn't afraid to have some fun! She's also the type to look after everyone first before herself but later realises that it's okay to choose love and let go, to chase after what she wants, knowing everything will be okay!

Shelby and Corbin are childhood best friends, after being separated for years, Shelby returns home to relive a road trip her and his mother went on when they were younger. Corbin is taking time off work and decides to join Shelby on her trip...after some time, the lines between friends to lovers blur and they start to realise maybe there's more between them, then they initially thought🥰

I almost misjudged this entire book because of those first few chapters. That prologue? Straight-up criminal. Corbin came across like a constipated freak in a button-up, and I was this close to writing him off forever. Thank god I didn’t—because once the real story started, this man flipped the switch and I ended up falling hard for him.

This isn’t your classic friends-to-lovers. They’ve known each other forever, sure, but what we really get is two adults reconnecting after years apart and finally realizing they’ve always been each other’s safe place. Yes, there’s grief. Yes, there’s a little travel-guide energy in the beginning that had me skimming. But once the focus shifted back to just Shelby and Corbin, it was pure Vyk Peters magic.

The steam? Delicious. From the shower to the truck to the late-night touches, the chemistry built slow and steady and then knocked me sideways when they finally gave in. And the best part? Even in the final chapters, we’re still blessed with smut—because romance doesn’t just stop at “I love you.”

Was it a little predictable? Sure. Did I care? Not even a little. By the end, I was charmed, swooning, and in love with these two idiots who can’t keep their hands off each other. Comfortable, sexy, emotional—the perfect balance.

And knowing Blake’s story is up next? Based on that banter in the beginning, I am READY.

This is the cutest book I’ve ever read!!!
Evermore was a step away from Vyk Peters sports series and her first book in her new contemporary romance and she delivered.
Corbin - oh my. He’s the sensitive new age guys us women are dreaming about.
What started as a sweet, long distance friendship turns into a feeling of lust and love. Lucky Shelby.

I loved reading how Shelby’s inner weirdo brought Corbin to life and I loved how he grounded Shelby. Total opposites but a prefect pair.
This book made me all the feels. I wish I’d had a guy best friend growing up🤣
If you’re looking for a feel good romance with great spicy scenes (one of the first moments at the swimming hole - not spicy but you could feel the tension) then read this…NOW!
On a side note - the mentioning of The Hearts football club was a nice little touch too.

5⭐️ from me…I’d give it 6 if there could have been more😉
Bring on book 2!

This sweet friends to lovers romance is fantastic. I love how the friendship goes way back and how they stayed in touch.!

Riddled with sadness of losing her mum, Shelby returns to Australia to return her mums ashes to places she loved following diary entries.

With her is her old school friend Corbin. The chemistry is there from the start and I love how you find out about them as you go. The love story has been going on for decades, even across continents.

The writing is poetic, and feels as if I am experiencing the travel across Australia myself. It describes our landscapes so well that I felt as if I were right there with them.

When the spice hits, boy does it hit!!

This was such a sweet book!

I really liked both the MMC and FMC.
Overall the premise of the book was really beautiful. It delves into the loss of a parent, and life after loss.
I do wish we could have seen more of the travels across Australia - because I really enjoyed that. I could have easily read another 50-100 pages on this, while exploring the relationship between the MCs.

Overall for a shorter book it was quite enjoyable. But I do love to explore the deeper feelings and connections between MCs, and maybe a bit more yearning.

Corbin was also such a green flag 🥰

The bond between Shelby and Corbin was so sweet! Childhood friends to lovers is just too cute! Shelby could fill any silence with her hilarious rambling or her unique planning skills 😂

This was a sweet slow burn romance with a bonus road trip in the story.

Vyk Peters has a beautiful way of delving deep into the story with her vivid and descriptive writing—it makes the characters and setting come alive.

I’m already looking forward to book two and learning more about Blake's character.

Shelby & Corbin are two childhood friends who made long distance work from a young age and through their most difficult years (adolensence, parental deaths etc), their transnational bond and slow burn romance caused for a heartfelt, emotional journey around Australia and Canada, that is aptly described through all the colours of the rainbow.

Vyk has managed to write a book with open communication and easy flow between the main characters that there didn't need to be a lot of minor characters to create the narrative.

How many of us have fantasised about dropping everything to retrace our parents' epic adventures? Because Shelby? She actually does it. Rocks up in Australia with her mom's old diary and her parents' ashes (heavy, but stick with me), ready to relive those picture-perfect memories. What she doesn't expect? Childhood BFF Corbin—now all grown up and stupidly hot in that quiet, "I have spreadsheets for my spreadsheets" kind of way, inserting himself into her journey.

Their dynamic is everything. Free-spirit Shelby, versus Corbin, who probably alphabetises his spice rack. But here's where it gets delicious: they're secretly each other's perfect counterbalance. When Shelby freezes up at the thought of going in the ocean, Corbin distracts her in the best possible and spicy way. And when Corbin has to get on a plane? Shelby distracts him in a delicious but painful way. Wink Wink.

The mishap at the bakery might be my Favourite scene though.. It's the perfect mix of hilarious and tender that makes you want to reach into the book and hug them.

This isn't just some fluffy rom-com (though the banter is top-tier). There's real depth here, grief, second chances, and that heart-stopping moment when you realise the person you can't live without has a life waiting on the other side of the world. That last third had me in shambles—like, "my dog was concerned about me" levels of emotional damage.

Why You'll Devour This:
• Opposites-attract perfection with actual emotional growth (facing fears!! life-changing kisses!)
• Slow-burn romance that makes you believe in soulmates
• Friends to Lovers, follow you anywhere energy

Firstly thank you to the wonderful Vyk for the opportinity to read her book Evermore which is the first book in the Love In The Valley trilogy. From the moment i opened this one i was in love. I really enjoyed every special moment.

Evermore follows Corbin and Shelby. These two have been friends since childhood. Their mothers were besties. It doesn’t matter how much time goes by or the fact they live so far apart. They still have that kinda friendship that will last a lifetime. But what happens when one day they take a road trip. The feelings they both have finally come bubbling to the top and they act on them. Will it make them or break it? Stay tuned.. This is one road trip you will want to follow.

I loved how they had their mums diary and their road trip was following in the footsteps of their mums. It was super special.

These two have such a strong connection, there chemistry is off the charts, great banter, i loved there communication via colours, these two grew as their story went on, it was emotional, waiting for these two to take the plunge had me on the edge of my seat but once they did it was everything and more. Corbin had me swooning. The spice was 🔥🔥

Vyk, girl you know anything you write i will eat it up and this was no different. But my question is: Can i please have Blakes book? That man has me so dang intrigued 🤭

Guys make sure you grab your copy 01 August or add it to your tbr.

❄️ ARC REVIEW ❄️

Evermore by @vykpeters

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶🌶🌶

This was absolutely the sweetest and most perfect romance story 🥰. I have loved each book Vyk Peters has written and would pick up anything by her.

This story is about Shelby and Corbin, who are childhood besties but haven't seen each other in years since Shelby moved to Canada. Shelby decides to take a trip to Australia, but the unexpected happens when they both go on a road trip together.

Shelby discovered her late mother's diary about her mother and Corbin's mother, who travelled around Australia. Shelby decided this was the perfect way to spread her parents' ashes in spots that her mother and Aunty Ash visited in the diary she found.

This is where Shelby and Corbin go on a road trip and spend alot of time together where feelings start to spark to life between them, while retracting those memories and also making new memories that turned a little spicy.

This book gave me the feels from smiling, laughing, and making your toes curl to crying. This was such a heartfelt book that was beautifully written to showcase the final moments Shelby went through with her mother.

Please read the trigger warnings before you start, as it does include some warnings.

Shelby and Corbin completely stole my heart. They were the sweetest pairing, opposites in so many ways yet perfectly balanced together. Childhood friends who reconnect nearly twenty years later, they set out on a road trip mirroring the one their parents once took. That journey becomes so much more than miles on the road, it is a beautiful rollercoaster of emotions. One moment you’ll find yourself with silent tears slipping down your cheeks, and the next you’re laughing out loud. Tender, intimate moments are woven seamlessly with playful banter and hilarious scenarios, creating the perfect balance.

What stood out most for me was the unwavering support Shelby and Corbin gave one another, along with their unique version of “I dare you,” which was such a sweet touch that added depth to their bond. The way Peters used crayon colours to represent and explore emotions was nothing short of brilliant. I even found myself looking up the shades, which made the reading experience feel even more vivid and immersive.

Evermore is a heartfelt reminder that the moments we’re given, and the people we choose to share them with, are far more meaningful than chasing deadlines or trying to impress those who don’t truly matter. I devoured this book in one sitting and now I’m counting the days until the next in the series.

4.5 / 5 ⭐️
5 / 5 🍬 oh so sweet
3 / 5 🌶️ but sexy too
Method: KU 👩🏼‍💻

🩵 This is a beautiful story 🩵

Shelby & Corbin’s story starts in Australia as childhood neighbours and best friends. Their mums were also best friends.

They were each other’s first kiss.

But then, Shelby & her family move to Canada.

After 18 years apart, both still important in each other’s lives, they are brought back together to retrace a road trip that their mums took years ago, after the recent loss of Shelby’s Mum.

The friendship is still there so many years later, but now, they are all grown up. The boundaries of ‘just friends’ are being blurred and now best friends are realising that maybe they are becoming so much more. Soul mates, perhaps? 🫠

There’s banter, there’s flirting, there’s heat, there’s an accidental consumption of ‘organic green matter’ 🌿 will funny repercussions and even the final debate of which country has the better coffee! Pssttt… it is us! Australia!!!

Such a beautiful story and cannot wait for the rest of the series 🥰

A beautiful story of love and friendship across generations!
I would love to have a friendship like Talia and Ash had which was so strong and unwavering that it crossed oceans and time and even death cant separate them!

They passed that friendship to their children who turned out to be exactly what they had been searching for without knowing it for each other.

The roadtrip across the country made me nostalgic for trips we took as kids. (Mine were not so eventful I promise) I will never look at a hot spring quite the same way ever again.

There was just enough longing and angst to keep you enthralled and there were moments when I yelled at the kindle and put it in timeout because the characters werent listening to me.

I wish there was more of their story, watching them draw different elements out of each others characters was a lovely journey to be a witness to!

Soul-healing adventures under starlit skies

Vyk, how you can elicit such emotion from your stories is incredible. Shelby & Corbin will forevermore hold a special place in my heart. Their story reminded me of my own in so many ways, and it flooded me with so many emotions that I would have to choose all the colours.

To have such a beautiful friendship that is never broken no matter the distance, to it being a soul deep love that carries across the ocean, is a bond that will last in this life and the next.

Shelby & Corbin's adventures start out when Shelby comes back to the place where it all started. To fulfil a wish and find adventure by exploring the place's her mum and aunt had explored. There will be highs, fun, laughter, salacious shenanigans under the stars and some lows. But in the end, these two learn so much about themselves that the realisation is a stunning to witness as it unfolds.

It is beautiful, adventurous, soul healing and swoon-worthy.

This was a welcome refreshment after a succession of darker reads. A sweet and light bubbly to spark up those happy vibes.

The two main characters balance each other out really well. Shelby brings colour to Corbin's otherwise regimented lifestyle and Corbin is an anchor of stability and steadiness to Shelby's more carefree nature.
Shelby's habit of speaking before thinking is a relatable quirk, yet it serves to add light heartedness and humour to the story, rather than backfire. It's nice to see the inclusion of certain personality traits that actually highlight a character in a positive way.

I loved watching the romance between these two childhood best friends unfurl. As they explored Australia they also explored each other....Corbin soon became familiar with Shelby's Nibs.

The High Tea & Co was an unexpected treat - what a joy it was to find something a bit naughty like this inside.

This was such a beautiful story. I can’t actually put into words how much I loved this book and how much I adored the main characters Corbin and Shelby. I read this book ages ago (arc reader & then reread it recently), I still can’t express properly how much I loved it. Shelby & Corbin’s chemistry and banter during their road trip visiting places their mother’s had been to when they were younger was just perfection and so cleverly written.

This story had it all and I was completely invested right from the start. I laughed and cried and couldn’t put it down. Corbin is such a gorgeous, swoony MMC and I loved how he was always there for Shelby.

I don’t want to give away spoilers because YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!

But . . . the epilogue was also brilliant and I really can’t wait for the next book now 💙

Please read ASAP, you won’t regret it!
