Billionaire Unforgiven ~ Cole (Montana Billionaire's #4)

Rate this book
Could there really be more to the grumpy billionaire with heavy bad boy vibes and a seriously bad attitude?

Cole Remington was the kind of man a woman like me avoided as much as possible.

The arrogant billionaire wasn’t just gruff.

He was rude, abrupt, and had no problem saying whatever popped into his head without a filter.

I had no problem keeping my distance from a guy like him.

What female in her right mind would actually want to spend more time than necessary in his company, even if was the hottest guy on the planet?

Or maybe I should say that I kept my distance until the day that I just…couldn’t.

Cole and I were forced into each other’s company, and to my surprise, I discovered a guy who was actually likable.

Even more surprising? We were ridiculously attracted to each other.

I never could have imagined that Cole Remington would take me on a sensual journey that would completely blow my mind.

Suddenly, I felt myself falling for the Cole that was buried beneath his facade of indifference.

Until my entire world gets turned upside down.

Was I strong enough to fight for the man I loved, or would it be better if I just turned and walked away?

This book is part of the Montana sub-series of The Billionaire’s Obsession. For maximum reading pleasure it’s better to reading the Montana books in order starting with Kaleb’s book.

Wow! I think it’s been a year? Maybe a year and a half and now this next story is finally available! I had to read it immediately. The funny part is it was like I never forgot what happened. The recounting of what happened in the last book helped though and then it all came back to me. Essentially it’s the aftermath of Cole saving Reese from something happening to her which ended up having him get shot himself. I couldn’t remember Lauren though but based on how close she is to the Remington’s she probably was very present in the last 3 books. I just couldn’t remember how she was. Anyway, my only complaints about the book was that there were some reactions Lauren had that annoyed me which had me giving this a 4, but also Asher’s attitude that both Cole and Lauren pick up on as well as the slow burn between them. When I thought about it, these were the only things that I didn’t like about the book but also at the same time the book wasn’t enough to blow me away and push me to that point in giving this a 5 but definitely a solid 4. I went through this book pretty quickly or as fast as it has been for me this year so far which is knocking it out in 2-3 days rather than 1-2 days because of life. Why was I being a bit petty about this book you ask? Well it’s simple, but not really at the same time. I think the author wrote Lauren as overly sensitive and having a bit too much empathy which made her reactions more dramatic when Cole nor Asher didn’t feel it was necessary. She cried about things that weren’t a big deal and kept feeling sorry for Asher and Cole but they didn’t need or ask for it. They had already moved past what happened and tell her many times but she still didn’t let it go. I love how caring she was but this was just too much. They both even got over the fact that the town blames them for what happened to their father and didn’t care what was being said about them. Instead, they cared on what would happen if the town finds out the truth about her brother and family and how that could impact her, a much healthier way of thinking about things. I mention Asher because while this was a story about Cole and Lauren’s romance, he plays a big part of this book because we not only find out the reason Cole and Asher move back to Montana but the truth about what really happened with their father and mother. This was a big deal in the last 3 books before Cole and Asher even moved back. There was already speculation about them and this book sets all of that straight and clears the gossip of what the townspeople think and goes straight to the point though the truth never gets fed to the town in order to protect Lauren and her brother. The book ends with both Cole and maybe Asher finding peace with the truth and getting the closure they need about their parents. To go back to Asher though, this book shows concern Cole and Lauren have about him being isolated and distanced from people, society and their family. There is even a chapter that has Cole confronting him about this and his urge to have him be with family or at least be around town. This was admirable from Cole because he used to be the same way and I loved how Lauren was able to regain his confidence and become less distanced from people. Plus, I think it helped him as he slowly makes his way out in society to realize that not everyone sees him and Asher as the enemies. I love how Lauren brought him out of his shell and was able to get him to trust more easier this time around. The whole premise of the book I really enjoyed, from the beginning of Lauren and Cole’s relationship, all the way to finding out the truth about Cole and Asher’s parents and the way Lauren chips at Cole’s hard exterior and opens his heart. As each chapter progresses, you see Cole loosen up more and open up, becoming less hostile and not afraid to let people in but Lauren was the one who got his true self and it was a beautiful reveal. In doing so, you get some pretty heated, passionate and emotional encounters and a wonderful love that comes out of it. The spice was there and while there wasn’t a ton of swoon factors, Cole showed his romantic side in different ways that were simple but yet meaningful. There wasn’t a ton of flash or use of his wealth, but enough to know that the sky was the limit for him and he would happily show Lauren what it all would be like. It’s funny, when you first get a glimpse of Cole, you would never think that he would be capable of doing things like this, much less open his heart up to love with just how guarded he was in the beginning. The book really showcases that anyone is capable of opening up and showing emotions if the right person comes along to prove that trust is still possible and not broken or completely gone, you just have to be careful who you open this up to and Lauren was that for Cole. She showed him many times he can trust her and she’s been on his side this whole time, even before they got together. It will be interesting and fascinating to see how this gets expressed with Asher, as he’s going to be a bit more difficult to crack open. I think theres trauma there for him and a darkness that I’m sure goes back to before Cole was born. It will be nice to uncover that and see what made him the way he is and to watch the walls on him crash down from whoever the heroine turns out to be, my bet goes to his new housekeeper Sierra.

This is the 23rd book in the Billionaire’s Obsession series and the 4th book in the Montanna Billionaires series: Billionaire Unforgiven. It can be read as a standalone book, but Cole and Asher are related to the leads in the first three books as cousins.

Asher and Cole recently sold off a major business that they built and are trying to slow down and be more hands off with their remaining holdings, while still looking for new investments. They moved back to their old hometown, but town gossip has not given up on the rumor that they killed their drunk and abusive father before they left town. None of the family believes it to be true. They are concerned, prior to his death, their father may have killed their mother and claimed she ran off with another man. They are back in town to investigate that and see if they can find any truths.

As a result of their cool reception by their little town, both of them keep to themselves and come off as standoff and grouchy individuals. Cole gets very sick and his Aunt, who is leaving town, sends some soup and cold medicines with her "adopted" daughter. Lauren doesn't believe the rumors about Cole, but she has met him and doesn't like him very much either. When she shows up with the care package, Cole is so sick and feverish he can't even get out of bed. Lauren stays the weekend to take care of him until he can care for himself. During that time, they start to get to know each other and find a mutual attraction neither expected or welcomes. Lauren wants to protect her heart from someone she feels isn't looking for a serious relationship. Cole has major trust issues, no surprise, with the only exception being his older brother, Asher. As usual in her books, J.S. Scott pulls the alpha hero into the light, and we slowly find him both attractive and redeemable. The heroine is intelligent, friendly, and relatable and the kind of woman you would like to get to know better. Will they be able to find a way to open up to each other and share their desires both physical and emotional? If their budding friendship and relationship has major hardships to overcome, can they manage it? Enjoy Cole and Lauren's spicy and enjoyable story as it unfolds!

A true love-hate romance at first. Cole Remington was the cousin of the Remingtons that readers know well and love. Cole and his brother, Asher, just came back and were determined to make Crystal Fork their home regardless of the gossip. Their dad died under mysterious circumstances that were never solved. The easiest choice was to blame it on his sons. Their dad had been abusive and it was known throughout the town how he treated his sons after their mother left. It made sense. Most people in the town did not believe it, but there were a few people that took the opportunity to needle Asher and Cole about it. The Remingtons did not believe it and wanted Cole and Asher to get to know them. Cole opened up first. Of course, it was Millie Remington that opened the door and refused to let it close. Asher is another story. He remained reclusive and only came out of land to help Millie when she needed it. They were both self-made billionaires. Remingtons don’t make any slouches. They succeed.

Lauren Collier had been adopted by the Remingtons when she was a child. She moved back to Crystal Fork and the family embraced her again like she never left. Lauren is a part of wives' group and participates in family activities. The Remingtons want to bring Cole and Asher into the fold, but they are not ready. Millie is persistent. She will wear them down. Millie started the process of wearing Cole down by sending Lauren over to his house when he had the flu. She brought soup and medicine. When Lauren arrived, a snowstorm arrived with her forcing her to stay overnight at Cole's house.

Lauren is a certified genius. She has not had any prospects in the relationship department. Lauren has convinced herself that it was because she was unattractive. Now that Cole knows how she feels, he is determined to make her see herself differently. What Lauren dubbed as unattractiveness was really men being intimidated by her. The men were too afraid to approach her. Cole wasn't but Cole wasn't interest, right? He just wanted to improve her self-esteem and pay her back for being there for him when he was sick. At least that is what he kept telling himself while spending more and more time with her. Will Cole drop the façade and realize his feelings for Lauren are real?

As always, Ms. Scott knows how to write a love story. It is never just a love story and this book is no different. Cole and Lauren were both outsiders in some ways. I love how their relationship started as a friendship and developed into something more. Readers of this series get some insight about why Cole and Asher have been so reclusive. I can't wait to read Asher's story.

The Montana billionaires have been great and I loved that we finally got Cole’s story. “Billionaire Unforgiven” is a swoony, heartfelt and romantic strangers-ish to lovers, small town billionaire romance that was a great addition to the series.

Cole Remington is grumpy and closed off to the world with the exception of his brothers. Especially with the memory of the things his father did back when he was younger. And when he’s sick, the last person he was expecting to be snowed in with is Lauren Collier. Lauren had moved back to Crystal Fork after college and established her career in the fast paced business world of Boston. Cole and Lauren had never really gotten along but as they spent time together when it snowed in, it’s clear that there is an attraction between them. But there’s information from Lauren’s past that could affect the relationship that they are building.

I love a closed off, grumpy guy and Cole was just that. But once we got to the reason why, I didn’t blame him for keeping to himself. But he’s also a great guy and once you peel back that layer, he cares deeply. Lauren is genuine, smart and also cares deeply for anyone in her life. She helped out a friend by checking on Cole and I’m so glad she did that. And since it’s Montana, them getting snowed in was the perfect way for them to start their new friendship. Lauren had some body issues and how she saw herself but Cole never made her feel less than. Their friendship evolved perfectly into a relationship and I loved them as a couple. The plot twist of how things went down with Cole’s father had me gasping, I truly didn’t see it coming. The ending to their story was so sweet and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Billionaire Unforgiven - Cole is the 4th book in the Montana Billionaires series. Every book I've read in this series, I say this is my favorite one, well, Cole Reminton's book is my favorite!

Cole is a different character from his Remington cousins; he's reclusive, arrogant, and sometimes rude. He's tried to distance himself from his Remington family, his aunt and cousins, especially Lauren, who is a close friend of his aunt and his cousins' wives. But he soon discovers that it is not an easy thing to do.

When Lauren first meets Cole, she doesn't really know how to feel about him. She thought he was gruff and just said what he thought. She thought he was a jerk, a very sexy HOT jerk! She tried to keep her distance, but that became even harder when Cole got sick. She decided to take care of him during a blizzard. That made things a lot more complicated for both of them.

This book is more than romance; it's a mystery when Cole and Lauren try to discover what really happened to Cole's parents. It's something neither of them was prepared for. Lauren tries to start
Chipping away at Cole's walls, she finds a man who has been in pain and suffering because of his childhood, but also discovers secrets about his family and hers.

The spice level is extra spicy. Cole shows Lauren what sensuality really means. This book has everything for the reader who's looking for romance, mystery, spice, and a happy ending.

In Billionaire Unforgiven – Cole, J.S. Scott delivers an emotionally layered romance that blends vulnerability, family loyalty, and undeniable chemistry into a compelling love story.

When Cole becomes ill, his formidable independence is challenged in a way he never anticipated. Sent by his caring Aunt Millie to check in on the broody billionaire, Lauren can’t walk away from Cole, even when his guarded nature and sharp edges try to push her out. And Cole, used to controlling every aspect of his life, finds himself disarmed by her warmth and quiet strength.

The beauty of this story lies in its emotional depth. Both Cole and Lauren, burdens from their pasts that have shaped their fears and their defenses. Rather than tearing them apart, these truths become the very catalysts that set them free. Scott does an excellent job portraying how love isn’t just about passion—it’s about facing the parts of yourself that haunt you the most.

The chemistry between Cole and Lauren is electric yet tender. The “spice” in their relationship doesn’t feel like a fleeting spark or a fluke encounter—it feels earned. Their connection builds naturally through vulnerability, trust, and emotional honesty. Readers will find themselves rooting for them not just to give in to attraction, but to truly open their hearts.

We have another winner, JS Scott has never failed to disappoint.

Loved Cole and Lauren's story from the start.
Lauren has been an honoury member of the Remmington family since she lost her brother in her teens.
Cole Remmington has just moved back to Crystal Forks with his brother Asher after selling their business and wanting a quieter life, they keep themselves to their self, as rumours still circulate about them killing the our father.

Lauren helps out Aunt Millie by taking a care package to Coles as he is sick with the flu, planning to drop off and leave but when she gets there he is really ill and ends up staying to make sure he is on the mend.
Lauren invites Cole to a get together with family at the local, he agrees but wants to take Lauren to dinner before to thank her for her help.

Cole & Lauren start getting to know each over and become friends, Lauren ends up crashing through Coles walls as they spend more time together and next thing they can not stay away from each other.  Cole & Lauren are great together and I think there has always been something there between them over the years, but when Lauren finds out something from the past can they move forward and start their lives together.

I have been waiting for Cole & Ashers story's and Coles did not disappoint, it had me gripped from the start.
Looking forward to reading about Asher next 😍

An emotionally poignant and deeply satisfying story.

Cole Remington trusts no one except his brother, Asher. Too many betrayals by the very people who should have protected him have left him solitary and reclusive. Lauren returns to Crystal Fork after building a successful career in Boston’s finance world. She’s intelligent, capable, and yet still sweet at heart. When she braves a snowstorm to deliver medicine for Cole’s aunt, she ends up stranded with him for several days. I loved the slow, natural progression of their relationship. From strangers, to tentative friends, to something so much more. Their emotional build-up felt natural, and I couldn’t step away from the book.

J. S. Scott always creates characters that immediately captivate me. She has a gift for writing emotions that will keep me invested to the last page, and then I wish there were more. Cole had so many layers of pain and vulnerability beneath his gruff exterior that I couldn’t help but root for him and Lauren to have their HEA. The twists in the climax were unexpected and surprising, adding just the right amount of friction that sped me to the conclusion. Now Asher is the only one left in the Montana Billionaires series, and I can’t wait to see who finally gives him the love he needs to return to his family.

Bring on all the grumpy billionaires!

This author always delivers great characters, drama, and steam and Cole and Lauren provided all of that and more. Cole and his brother made it big, earned a lot of money, so he felt more comfortable going home and re-establishing roots. Even though his childhood was he**, it was home. Though comfort is a relative thing. Rumors had swirled when they left and some people just wouldn’t let it go, even years later. They had family here that had their back – even if he and Asher resisted their efforts. And that included an aunt who accidentally (maybe?) played matchmaker…

Lauren was instantly drawn to Cole and the feeling was mutual. The chemistry between them was real and hard to resist as Cole found himself drawn to her in a way he’d never felt. Was Lauren wary? Of course, but that didn’t stop either of them from exploring their growing feelings for each other. Despite the family drama that continued to swirl around them…

Their story was suspenseful and full of the all the (good) drama and heated steam I could have asked for. I loved this latest addition to the billionaire line-up and am on tender-hooks waiting for Asher’s story – he deserves his own HEA!

*I happily reviewed this story

Who doesn't love a grumpy billionaire with a heart of gold? And for the record J.S . Scott writes the best. Cole and Lauren have a connection that we find out goes way beyond what anyone knows. When Cole and Asher left town years ago amidst rumors they made it big , earned lots of money and only trusted each other. When they come back to town successful yet still standoffish their cousins and aunt want a relationship. The brothers only depend on and trust each other. When Lauren shows up to bring Cole a care basket from his aunt, she can't leave him in his condition. Despite his protest she stayed and they slowly form a relationship. Lauren needed someone to see her brilliance and beauty since she didn't think she was attractive, Cole sure thought so . Little did they know their connection was much deeper and more complicated. This was an interesting twist that I didn't see coming until it landed in Lauren's lap. Having such a close community when everyone knows everyone's business can certainly cause issues in any relationship. Add murder and things really get complicated. I'm so excited to read how Asher will fall, I love when the tough ones fall!

This is definitely a love heals all wounds story. Cole and Lauren both have experienced hardships and loss in their lives but both deal with it differently.

Cole Remington, is a grumpy bad boy billionaire who is somewhat of a recluse or very anti social. Cole and his brother Asher have recently moved back to Crystal Fork from Austin, Texas after selling their tech company. Cole rarely leaves his ranch wanting to avoid small town gossip that refuses to die. It doesn't bother him anymore that people think either him or his brother killed his father.

Lauren Collier moved back to Crystal Fork from Boston after college and establishing her career, her reputation in her field makes her a very desirable. Lauren lost her family so being back in the town she grew up in helps her feel not so alone. Lauren is very close to the Remington family so when Millie asked her for a favor she couldn't refuse, she really didn't want to see Cole Remington again but apparently he was sick so she was dropping off a care package for him didn't sound to bad.

Lauren is all sunshine and positivity, Cole is all dark and broody but when they come together they compliment each other.

Once again, another fantastic release from J.S. Scott.

Cole Remington and his brother Asher have remained isolated since returning to their childhood home in Crystal Fork. Billionaires of their own making the brothers shy away from the town where some still acuse them of their fathers murder, they quietly rebuild their future lives on their split property, shunning family events also.

Doing a good deed for her friend and Cole's aunt Millie, Lauren drops off a care package to him only to find him really unwell and stays overnight to look after him.

To repay the good deed Cole agrees to a family night with his cousins and suggests dinner before hand. Defending Cole when a drunk townsperson mentions his fathers murder, the two become friends.

Getting to know each other as friends, Lauen can see through the grumpy Cole's walls, and both find more than friends in their relationship.

While reading her brothers journals, Lauren discovers a secret that could derail her whole future.

Can a decade old secret ruin her future life with Cole?

I absolutely loved Lauren and Cole. Cole is not what he seems, yeah intimidating, gruff, but deep down he just wants what everyone else wants, he just didn’t realize it until Lauren invaded his sanctuary to help out when he was sick. Cole and his brother Asher have dealt with so much growing up, being estranged from the family, accused of murdering their father and just trying to adjust to being surrounded by family. Lauren is a breath of fresh air and Cole doesn’t know what to do. He’s broken in ways he thinks he will never be whole again, but never underestimate the love of a good woman. Their story is emotional, sexy, fun and when Cole gets a taste there’s no turning back. I love all of the cousins and their significant others making efforts to show they have each other's backs. I did not see the twist coming that could change everything or in the end will it make a difference? Such a great read!

Billionaire Unforgiven is grumpy Cole Remington and ray of sunshine Lauren Collier’s entertaining and engaging story. It’s book four in the Montana Billionaires Series and even though this is my first book in this series I still loved everything about this book.
Cole loves his solitude especially after what his father did when he was younger but after selling his tech company he built with his brother he is back on their family property in Crystal Fork.
Lauren has also moved back and when she is asked to drop some meds off to him because he has the flu she doesn’t hesitate but what she didn’t expect was to find herself snowed in with the grumpy billionaire who obviously prefers his own company or does he……..
This is a beautifully written love story with characters I fell hard and fast for. It’s heartwarming and entertaining and I loved watching this couple go from strangers to friends to lovers. A great small town romance.

This is the fourth book in the Montana Billionaires series and I absolutely loved finally getting to read Cole's story. Cole is grump on the exterior, but inside, he is just a man who, once he let his guard down, is kind, caring, and has so much love to give. Insert Luren, a woman who is sunshine in spirit. She comes to Cole's aid when he comes down with the flu and of course, Lauren gets stuck with Cole when she is stranded due to a snowstorm. While Cole's standoffishness and gruffness is intimidating, Lauren slowly breaks down Cole's barriers and the love story that develops between them is sweet and allows Cole to begin trusting someone outside his family.

Each time I think I fall for one of J.S. Scott's characters, she comes back with another that makes it so hard to choose a favorite. I really loved this book so much and want to say thank you to the author and her team for an opportunity to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

We’re back in Montana, and it’s time to learn more about the Remington cousins! When we first met Lauren in previous stories, I was instantly curious about her and hoped she’d get her happily ever after. Cole hasn’t had an easy life, but he’s always had the support of his brother. Now, Cole and Asher have returned to confront their past, and Cole has no intention of letting anyone get close to him—especially not Lauren. I loved how Lauren refused to let Cole hide behind his gruff exterior, and watching his walls slowly come down was truly heartwarming. I absolutely adore everything JS Scott writes; her stories always draw me in, and the strong family bonds make them even more special. This book delivers all of that, and I loved seeing Cole open up to his family as well. I’m thoroughly enjoying our time in Montana with this family and can’t wait to dive into Asher’s story next!

What starts out as doing a good deed ends up being so much more. Cole Remington is a grumpy, semi-recluse billionaire cousin to Tanner, Kaleb and Devon Remington. Lauren Collier is a brilliant, successful and well established business owner who sees herself as ordinary, nothing special to look at and a bit too curvy. She just wants to befriend Cole but he's got other ideas. This romance is deeply emotional with a dark cloud of suspicion shading everyday behaviors of some of Crystal Fork's population as well as Cole and Lauren. It's about atonement, forgiveness, acceptance ancd moving foward. The love that these two have for one another will captivate you. Long time questions are finally answered with shocking revelations. You'll get to know Cole's brother, Asher, just enough to be intrigued and looking forward to his story. JS Scott has another winner in Billionaire Unforgiven- Cole.

They may have been gone for years, but the suspicions and scandal surrounding Cole and his brother Asher still remain. Cole doesn’t care for the town gossip and thought he was content to stay secluded in his own little bubble. When flu strikes him down, Lauren comes to the rescue. It should have been just a medication drop but she couldn’t leave him in his weakened state. She becomes the angel he never knew he wanted. His intention was to keep his distance but its clear Lauren needs him just as much as he needs her. They’ll lift each other up, support each other, fall in love and become inseparable. However there are still skeletons in the closet. How will it impact their relationship when the truth comes out? Join Lauren, Cole, Asher and Cole’s family in this engaging story of love, acceptance, family and closure.

Let me start with this… a J.S. Scott romance never misses the mark. Regardless of the characters, the location, the genre, there is going to be angst and an over the top, alpha male. But, there is always a female who is stronger than she thinks.

That’s exactly what Cole Remington and Lauren Collier are to each other. While he has been nothing but grumpy towards Lauren since her return to Montana, when she shows up to deliver a care package and stays to nurse him back to health, their dynamic changes. Lauren sees beyond his grumpy persona and Cole develops real feelings for a woman for the first time in his life.

Loved the plot twist surrounding Cole’s parents, which brought a different depth to the cousins series. And yet takes nothing away from the love Cole and Lauren share.

As usual, I cannot wait for the next installment in the series.

Here is the next installment of the Billionaire's Obsession (Montana Billionaire's) series. I have read all 23 books so far and each one deals with obsessive billionaires but each story is different. Cole is part of the Remington family, but unlike the other family members he tends to keep to myself. He can be rude and standoffish until he meets Lauren. Lauren didn't like Cole when she first meet him but is attracted to him. They become close after Lauren takes care of a sick Cole during a blizzard. Together they try to find out what truly happened to Cole's parents and to get back what he felt was his. Cole started off as an unlikable character but you soon find out why he is the way he is. J.S. knows how to draw her reader's into her stories and you just want to know what happens next. I love her stories.

I received a copy of this book for a honest review.

Lauren and Cole are unexpectedly friends and share a somewhat similar background. Cole is grumpy with bad boy vibes but is truly a soft hearted man, especially when it comes to Lauren, especially after she nurses him back to health when he is sick. Cole and his brother Asher have returned to their hometown but keep themselves apart from their cousins and aunt as well as the locals. Lauren likewise has returned home to the only family she has and that is the found family of Cole’s relatives. There are some unexpected revelations that could tear Cole and Lauren apart rather than bring them closer but love wins out in the end. I do hope Asher gets a story soon too. I really enjoyed this romance story.

Cole’s past has made him grumpy, semi-recluse and is struggling to reconnect with his cousins Tanner, Kaleb and Devon Remington. Lauren maybe a brilliant, successful business owner. Even with all her smarts she never sees herself as anything as nerdy. Why would any man look twice at her curves and what she believes is plain and ordinary woman. Lets sat when these first two meet it not that pretty. Lauren’s heart is as big as her brain and when Cole becomes ill it is Lauren who looks after him.
Oh these two, have so much in common pain from their own childhoods. Lonely, loss of loved ones. Pain of abuse. Trust is not something Cole knows how to give. The gorgeous, curvy Lauren slowly breaks down walls and family, friends start to feel like home. Oh secrets are revealed and past is put aside.
Loved how these two bounce off each other and find strength. Oh the chemistry is hot and so is the steam. When misunderstanding happens and the past knocks on the door, trust and love is what is needed.

Cole Remington is an ornery, closed‑off man due to painful memories of his father. When he gets sick and ends up snowed in with Lauren Collier—someone he’s never really liked—, but tolerated, they slowly grow closer. Lauren, who returned home to Crystal Fork after college, is kind, smart, and struggles with body image, but Cole always makes her feel valued. Their forced time together leads to a genuine friendship and then as the walls come down, a romantic relationship. A shocking twist involving Cole’s father adds tension. Will Lauren fight for what she believes in or will she protect herself? Their story is one that kept me turning the pages and also leaving excitement for the next book in the series, possibly with Asher.... Another great story by J. S. Scott.

Seems like we waited a while for this one to finally come out. It was worth the wait! Cole Remington is the cousin of the Remingtons we have already read about. He is a recluse, but seems to be cut from the same cloth as his cousins - handsome, smart and under his bluster, a heart of gold. Lauren is a very smart and accomplished but somewhat insecure Remington family friend. These two have chemistry that can’t be denied. Cole works through his general distrust of everyone and his personal dark history. Lauren has to overcome her feelings of personal inadequacy for these two souls to truly connect. I love the way Ms Scott writes her characters. It is so easy to make a connection with them on a gut level. Excellent read!

I was so excited to get more Remington Family! Cole is your typical grumpy man who refused to interact with others. He and his brother Asher had a horrible family life growing up and are now back in Crystal Springs to slow down some. Sadly, the gossip in small towns still have him and his brother guilty of killing their father which is so far from the truth.

Lauren Collier just moved back to Crystal Springs and is enjoying her life back home after establishing her career. Helping Millie drop off supplies to a sick Cole is not something she wants to do but will help Millie out. Who would have thought that this would be the start of something amazing for both of them.

I loved this story and can’t wait for Asher’s book!

Lauren wasn’t too taken with Cole’s gruff demeanour to start, with but she always knew there was something about him that drew her attention. Then when he was sick & she was the one in the right place at right time to take care of him, she got to meet the man behind the gruff.

And he got to realise that gruff isn’t always necessary.

A long family history and small town gossip make the path a bit bumpier for these two, but I loved how it all intertwined to keep me wanting to keep turning the pages. I would have read it all in one go if I hadn’t fallen asleep while reading at 2am! I really enjoyed Cole & Lauren’s story.

And the teasers for Asher’s story have me very impatient for the next instalment!

Thank you to JS Scott for my copy of this ebook. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed Cole and Lauren’s story. Even though each time that Lauren saw Cole and he was always cold and abrupt with her and everyone else, she thought that he really didn’t like her. When she was stranded at his house during a huge snowstorm, she found that what she thought was his dislike of her was really his growing attraction to her. As they got to know each other better, they realized that they had more in common than they thought. With the mystery of the disappearance of Cole and Asher’s mother and of who murdered their father solved, will that be the catalyst for their happily ever after?

I’ve really been looking forward to Cole and Asher’s stories and Cole’s story does not disappoint. I fell in love with Lauren and Cole right away. Asher was a pretty great character in his own grumpy way. I loved the story but it was so sad what these brothers had gone through in their lives. The story has a good plot, a bit of sexy, fun with our couple and the secondary characters via the Remington cousins and their mom adds so much to the story. Billionaire Unforgiven, Cole is a great addition to all the billionaire stories this author is so famous for. I highly recommend Cole and Lauren’s story and can’t wait for Asher’s!

Beautiful heartwarming story

I love J S Scott’s books. Just the right length, lots of emotions and great steamy scenes, no unnecessary angst and well described characters and places.
I have really enjoyed all 23 books so far. I love getting a glimpse into what is happening in previous characters lives and getting to know a little bit about characters in the next book. Really looking forward to Asher’s story.
This book is about Cole and Lauren. Both had experienced difficult childhoods. Cole never thought he could get close to anyone until Lauren came along!
I won’t spoil the plot but I really recommend this book, you won’t be disappointed ❤️
