I’m not a big fan of multiple partner romances but I was intrigued by this one. Unfortunately for me, while the first part was interesting as soon as they were all together, it became a sexfest.

The scenes were dragged out and repetitive and I started skimming them just to be able to finish the book. This is probably a case of its just me.

I will say the epilogue was really nice and I enjoyed how everything worked out.

4/5🌶️

I had the pleasure to be accepted for this early copy of Claudia's latest book. Thank you so much for this opportunity Claudia and team!

Halsey, Santos and Dustin were three kids who found solace in each other's lives. They were best friends first but something else was blossoming in their hearts. Something which was forbidden, something which could blow apart everything they had together. Unfortunately, what they were most afraid of indeed happened and their paths have separated for a while.

Years have passed and these three were about to be together again. After Santos had a serious injury during a hockey game, Dustin did everything to get Hasley involved in his recovery. That was the only solution to bring her back to them. But how will everything unfold after all those years? Will they now be able to really enjoy the love they have for one another or the constant criticism will break them apart again?

I must say from the start that this book was preeettyy spicy, so you must be prepared for that before diving into this story. Also, it had a trio lovers story, where one girl and two men are in love with each other. But their love might not be enough when everyone outside their bubble was against them. This was a fight for a love which was unconventional but when the heart knows what it wants nothing else matters besides the ones who care about you. It focused on the their rediscovery of one another after all the time apart and on rekindling things. That of course resulted in many hot scenes, some which really got the temperatures high🔥🥵.

The audiobook has offered a complete experience of this story, feeling even deeply that angst and longing. I loved the narrators, who brought to surface the personalities of these characters so well. I only knew Sean Masters from previous audiobooks I listened, so it was nice to discover the style of Erin Mallon and Oscar Reyes.

Overall it was a pretty interesting read about fighting for what you believe in and a love wrapped up with a really spicy bow 🤭. I recommend for you to check the list of triggers before reading this book.

Dustin, Santos, and Halsey's story had me feeling as if I was coming home again. My journey with Claudia's books started long ago, back in 2016, with UNCUT, a menage romance which has since been rewritten and is now a duet, Perfect Everlasting, which I did read in 2023. There is just something about the way she writes stories that will absolutely destroy you, and by the end, you're not only put back together, but you're hopeful that love will always win.

Their story begins when they are kids, and we see how their friendship turns into more, only for them to be ripped apart. Fast forward about a decade, and we have a Famous Musician, Dustin, a Professional Hockey Player, Santos, and a Surgeon, Hallsey. Would I say any of them are happy, not really. Yes, they are all thriving in their chosen career paths, but that doesn't fill one's heart now, does it?

Before We Break Again by Claudia Burgoa is an emotional, deeply human love story told in first person through three points of view — Halsey (a doctor), Dustin (a musician), and Santos (a hockey player). 🎸🏒🩺

Set in a small, close-minded country town, this story explores what happens when three teenagers fall in love in a way that challenges everything their world believes love should be. It’s a powerful and tender look at acceptance, heartbreak, and the courage to love freely, even when society says you shouldn’t. 💔

Torn apart and told their love is wrong, they’re forced to go their separate ways, but fate, as always, has other plans. I loved the way these characters love, the honesty, the vulnerability, the deep emotional connection that binds them. This was my first thruple (MMF) romance, and honestly, I only signed up because I saw “hockey player” and couldn’t resist. 😂 But I’m so glad I did! It surprised me in the best way.

The chemistry between Halsey, Dustin, and Santos felt real and raw. While some parts were a little repetitive or over-explained, the emotional depth more than made up for it. There’s a good balance of story and spice, about half and half, keeping the narrative heartfelt and sensual.

This book opened my eyes to a different kind of love story, and I’m glad it did. If you enjoy emotionally charged romances that challenge norms and celebrate love in all its forms, this one’s worth picking up.

Claudia delivers a soul-shattering MMF romance with friendship turned to all-consuming love.

In Before We Break Again we meet Dustin, Santos, and Halsey.

Right from the very beginning you felt like you were there with them and part of their story BUT then again something about Claudia’s writing always makes me feel like that. She has that magic!

These three fell in love as teenagers, were torn apart by stupidity, and have lived most of their adult lives one day at a time.

That is until Santos hurt while playing hockey. Dustin steps in to do what needs to be done for Santos to heel. That means hiring the best doctor, Halsey. Now, all he has to do is talk her in to taking on Santos case.

I loved seeing the three of them unite. Facing everything in their past and present is hard and full of test and trials, so will their bond be strong enough to make it through or will it break them.

I loved this book, their ending and the epilogues. I would highly recommend this book.

Best friends Halsey, Santos, and Dustin, three kids who were inseparable, until they are torn brutally apart by their parents, leaving them with scarred hearts and destroyed trust. Now as adults fate destinies them to cross paths again, and they are now a hockey player, a rock-star, and a doctor, the connection and love between them is still there, but with outside difficulties and complications have them fighting hard for each other.
This is a well written emotional roller coaster, with family dynamics, friendships, heartbreak, twists, and turns, sorrow, secrets, trust, communication, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, and soul shattering, small town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Dustin, Santos, and Halsey fell in love when they were younger. Torn apart because their parents didn’t believe in or agree with the three of them being together. They were torn apart and their lives ripped from them and they lost touch over the years. Dustin and Santos still remain together, but in secret because Santos’ father doesn’t agree with him being bisexual. After Santos gets hurt on the ice, Dustin seeks out Halsey and brings her back to help heal him. But whew, what a journey these three must go on. It is not all sunshine and rainbows for them. It’s an emotional rollercoaster of a ride. Dustin is battling his inner demons and his addiction. Santos is trying to heal from his injury and Halsey is coming to terms from seeing the boys she once loved when she was younger. Their love is fierce, intense, raw, and powerful. You can’t help but feel the heartbreaks that they all go through and then feel the joy and love also. And then the spicy scenes, whew there is passion and there is fire and steam. The chemistry between these characters is there, you can’t deny it at all.

And the audio narration…perfection! Erin, Oscar and Sean did such an amazing job giving these characters a voice and bringing their voices to life. I felt every emotion and was right there along the way throughout their journey.

Before We Break again

This story was an awesome read. For one touches on subject that may not always be open for all but it is and can be a beautiful thing when accepted. Touches the hearts of others and opens the hearts of many, but also shows sadly how misguided some people can be. Those people will forever be set in their own ways and unable to understand what they are missing out on. This is a beautifully written story, loved how they were able to come back together and become a family.

Not more than three stars because I think that the story haven't kept her intensity constant, in some point It became redundant. Furthermore the timing of the differential part of story are imbalanced, the end arrive too soon. Said this, I have find the three protagonists lovely, their chemistry to the stars...and the sex scenes very hot.

I have to say, this book piqued my curiosity because, like Claudia Burgoa's last book, it's a mmf, and I thought it would be impossible not to compare them. BUT the truth is, they're completely different, and I loved getting to know Halsey, Santos & Dustin. I really enjoyed the way the author told their story, the little glimpses she gave me of their childhood together, and the friendship that started it all. I also loved that the whole book follows the three of them on their journey to confront their demons, heal, and finally be together.

I think Halsey was the character I felt most deeply for. The way her family treats her broke my heart, made me incredibly angry, and I ended up hating them so much, the most painful part was reading how nothing this character does is ever enough for them and how they constantly remind her of "her mistakes," although it was also one of my favorite things about the book because of the realistic conclusion Claudia gave to this part of the story. It was also difficult to read how she bore the brunt of the judgment from those around her for being in love with Santos and Dustin, the complexity of her feelings for both of them, and how she feels about the relationship they've maintained over the years, but at the same time, I like it because it makes it much more obvious when Halsey finally begins to confront her fears and doubts and decides to open her heart again.

Dustin decided to cope with his broken heart in a much more self-destructive way, and although the author doesn't show this in the book, both he and the character of Santos paint a perfect picture of Dustin's decisions. One of the things I liked most was reading him accepting his reality, acknowledging his problems, and deciding to change for himself so he could start over with the people he loves. I also loved reading him as the protector of the relationship, the one who is always willing to make Halsey & Santos happy and keep them safe from their families.

Santos was my favorite. I really liked that he was the reason the main characters' lives came together again and that he was just as willing as Dustin to start over. Her relationship with her parents is just as complicated as Halsey's, and it was very sad to discover the things he had to go through as a teenager, his thoughts about the sport he loves, and how this relates to his feelings for his dad (a part of her storyline that has an unexpected ending but that I really enjoyed discovering). I think the only thing that would have made me love this character more would have been seeing her connect a little more with her roots and speak more Spanish.

🩺Narrators: Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes & Sean Masters
🏒Narration: 5/5

I think Claudia Burgoa couldn't have chosen better narrators for this story, because all three of them made me connect with their characters in a special way, conveyed all the emotions of the plot, and gave me what I expected from them when I read the ebook.

Erin Mallon is always fabulous, and I was so happy she was chosen to bring Halsey to life, especially during her character's most complicated moments and when she finally decides to fight for what she wants—it was beautiful.

Sean Masters is becoming one of my favorite narrators when it comes to Claudia Burgoa's stories, and Dustin was no exception! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him with this deeply emotional, complicated, dominant, and flirtatious character who undergoes tremendous growth throughout the story.

Oscar Reyes was a new narrator for me, and I loved him. At first, his voice sounded identical to Noah B. Perez's, BUT almost immediately I began to notice the different style and timbre, and I think he's largely responsible for how much I loved this character. I really liked that this narrator gave Santos that sweet, tender, and innocent touch that the character gave me while I was reading, that he also had his sexy side, and that he conveyed that feeling to me during the character's painful moments.

🩺Narradores: Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes & Sean Masters

Santos and Halsey opened up their loving arms to the new guy, Dustin, and they all fell in love. And it was glorious in the way young love is...for awhile at least. Until their parents decided that their love wasn't acceptable and separated them in a brutal way. They've been apart for years when something brings them back together and makes them face their demons, individually and as a group. That love is still there - now they just have to figure out how to let themselves be in love again.

These three had me on a rollercoaster of emotion. The highest of highs, the lowest of lows, and absolutely every emotion in between. Throughout they were working on themselves and I wanted to hug them each time they had to relive their old pain and experienced new pain. Their love saw them through, though, and by the end I was tearing up more than a little, as they finally figured everything out, and officially let it be known their love had withstood everything their families threw at them and came out on the other side stronger than ever, and that they were forever. I honestly cannot remember the last time a trio made me love them so hard, tore my heart apart, then healed it all in one fell swoop and had me smiling by the end. I'm not sure if Claudia plans on writing more of Santos, Halsey and Dustin but damn do I hope she does.

This book caught my eye the moment it was first posted about! I've been wanting to pick it up ever since. I always look so forward to getting into more of this author's work. I really enjoyed this story so much!

Halsey, Dustin, and Santos's journey pulled me in! These three best friends had something truly special until it all ended in heartbreak. Now Halsey is a doctor, Santos is a hockey player, and Dustin is a rockstar. As life brings Santos, Dustin, and Halsey together once again, can they and their hearts move forward, together?

Santos, Halsey, and Dustin got my heart and I right into their story! I so enjoyed the fact that the three of them had history and getting to see them be brought back into each other's lives. Dustin, Halsey, and Santos had all been through a lot in their lives and you really get to dig deeper with these three. I didn't know how they'd take on their past, the present, personal battles, and everything still between them.

I went through so many emotions throughout with Dustin, Santos, and Halsey. It wasn't an easy journey for these three and I truly felt for them. The realness that poured from them got me right in the chest. The chemistry and connection between these three was so great. Santos, Dustin, and Halsey never left each other's hearts and that shined throughout!

With Before We Break Again, Ms.Burgoa has created such a moving MMF romance that brought second chance angst, depth and love, doctor x hockey player x rockstar, so many moments that got to me, heart and spice, and a lot of feels! This author always knows how to bring all kinds of emotions and did she ever with Santos, Halsey, and Dustin's story! 💜🩺🏒🎸

A Trifecta of a Romance❤️‍🔥Amazing Story & Narration🎧

Before We Break Again
By: Claudia Burgoa
Narrated by: Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes, Sean Masters

Wow, Claudia Burgoa takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride with her newest standalone novel, “Before We Break Again,” a beautifully heartfelt second chance romance that grabs your attention and holds it captive the entire time. Younger Dustin, Santos and Halsey fell in love, a love that was torn apart and did not survive the pressure forced upon them, mainly their controlling bigoted parents. All three went their own ways, though they never stopped thinking of each other, and one even looked out for the others from afar. They did well for themselves career wise, Dustin became a rockstar, Santos became a hockey player, and Halsey became a doctor, but each had their issues. Dustin battles his addictions and inner demons, and Santos’ controlling parents are his demons, and Halsey, who could never please her parents and chooses to just settle. When Santos injures himself on the ice, an injury that could end his career, Dustin steps in, and then steps up because he knows Santos’ father’s intention for his son. Dustin’s plan includes bringing Halsey on board, reluctant at first, but she knows it is the right thing to do. The chemistry between them never fizzled out, but they need to face the demons of their past and those who wronged them too. Holy moly, Burgoa put these three through the wringer, and their back stories are heartbreaking. This beautifully written and plotted story has emotions pouring off the pages and straight to your heart and has you rooting for them the entire time. The love between them is incredible, and so is the heat, sizzling scenes and hot loving that singes the pages and your earbuds. Besides all the drama, emotions and heat we get cameos of characters from past series, it is always great and hear about past characters, another reason to love Claudia Burgoa books and the worlds she creates. Claudia Burgoa, thank you for another amazing love story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes and Sean Masters, a trifecta of a cast, did an amazing job voicing these characters to life, humanizing them with their personalities and emotions. They became the characters, embodying their characters completely, with Mallon nailing it as Halsey, Reyes as Santos and Masters Dustin, all were naturals in their roles, delivering a moving performance. These three make a fantastic team, with voices and talent that complement each other and a performance that elevates the story to another level and keeps you glued to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

This book was good. I didn’t love it because there were way too many conveniences, but I did enjoy it overall. And the spice was great! Dustin, a rock star, enlists Halsey, a doctor, to help their former love Santos, a hockey player, after he gets injured on the ice. Inseparable until their (really terrible) parents forced them to move apart when they were found to be part of a throuple as teenagers, they’ve all endured the pain of hiding their sexualities away from the world and attempting to fit themselves in the small boxes carved out for them as adults. Given a second chance to be together now, they decide to risk it all and finally start living their truths.

There was a lot of repetition in the book that irked me. I lost count of how many times they said they were ripped apart in the past by their parents and just didn’t know if they could be together now. But in reality, the only thing stopping them was their own hang-ups and insecurities and attempts to please their aforementioned really terrible parents.

Dustin was a self-proclaimed addict, but he only had one night of withdrawal and then was….completely fine? It was never mentioned again, as if starting a relationship and talking to a therapist cures a drug addiction. I would’ve liked to see more of his struggle and how Halsey and Santos would support him through it.

Halsey was such a people pleaser, even to her mother when she was being berated and called a slut. I just wanted her to stand up for herself even one time. But I did appreciate that she went all-in for the guys when she made the decision to be with them.

Similar to Dustin’s miraculous addiction recovery, Santos’s devastating injury was weirdly swept under the rug after he came home from the hospital. It was mentioned that he was doing physical therapy, but we never actually saw him working through his recovery, despite that being the catalyst for Halsey coming back into his life. Also, his dad was such an asshole for his entire life, but within a day of standing up to him finally about his sexuality, his dad was totally accepting and not bigoted anymore? It was bizarre to have such a pretty bow put on a person who didn’t deserve it.

The spice was spicing. It included MM, MF, and MMF scenes, and all of them had me fanning myself.

The audiobook narration by Erin Mallon, Sean Masters, and Oscar Reyes was well done. Erin and Sean did a slightly better job with the other two voices than Oscar did, but I still liked Oscar’s parts too. There were a few times I could hear that a sentence had been spliced in, but they didn’t take away from the great production as a whole.

Thank you to the author, Claudia Burgoa, and Bookcase Media for the audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Before We Break Again: A Soul-Shattering MMF Masterpiece!

Claudia Burgoa delivers an absolute powerhouse of an MMF romance that is as "sexy hot" as it is emotionally devastating. Before We Break Again is a story of three hearts tangled together by fate, scarred by a small town, and fighting for a love that was always meant to be—even when the world tried its best to shatter it.

Three Hearts, One Sacred Bond
This isn't just a romance; it’s an all-consuming exploration of friendship turned into something bigger. The dynamic between the three leads is electric and deeply moving:

The Hockey Player: A man denying the boy he used to be and the love he’s always carried.

The Rockstar: A tortured soul clinging to his music while addiction claws at his heels.

The Doctor: A woman who can stitch wounds but struggles to fix the fractured trust of the men she loves.

They were inseparable as kids, and as adults, they are forced to decide if rebuilding their "everything" love is worth the risk of destroying themselves all over again. The chemistry is spicy, intense, and incredibly raw.

One of the most refreshing aspects of this story is the absence of a third-act breakup. Instead of the typical forced separation, Burgoa allows the characters to face the "small-town drama" and their internal demons together. This creates a sense of found family and unity that makes the resolution feel earned and profoundly satisfying. It’s a "soul-shattering" journey where the "last hope" actually feels like a victory.

Friends-to-Lovers-to-Something Bigger: The history between these three makes every touch and every confession carry massive weight.

Deep Emotional Stakes: Battling addiction and hiding one's true self are heavy themes handled with grace and intensity.

All-Consuming Love: This isn't a "big" love—as the book says, it's everything. You will feel every heartbeat and every fracture.

Found Family: The bond they share transcends traditional labels, proving that love really can survive the things meant to destroy it.

My Final Verdict
Before We Break Again is a beautiful, spicy, and intense emotional rollercoaster. Claudia Burgoa has crafted a story that is perfect for readers who want more—more heat, more heart, and more depth. If you love a "pull-no-punches" tale of second chances and a love that defies all odds, this MMF romance is an absolute must-read!

The narration for Before We Break Again is an absolute game-changer, utilizing a three-person cast to bring every "sexy hot" and soul-shattering moment to life. With this trio, the chemistry isn't just described—it’s felt in every heartbeat.

Erin Mallon (Amazing): As always, Erin is a powerhouse. She perfectly captures the Doctor’s internal struggle—that mix of professional strength and the raw, maternal-like need to fix the men she loves. Her performance is the emotional anchor of the story.

Oscar Reyes (1st Time): What a debut! For a first-time listen, Oscar delivers an incredible performance. He steps into the role with an intensity that matches the "all-consuming love" of the plot, making him a narrator to watch in the future.

Sean Masters (Outstanding): Sean brings his signature alpha energy and deep, resonant voice to the table. He expertly navigates the duality of his character—the tough athlete/musician on the outside and the "boy he used to be" on the inside.

This triple-cast narration makes the MMF dynamic feel intimate and cinematic. If you thought the book was intense, the audio is a five-star listening experience that will leave you wanting more!

BEFORE WE BREAK AGAIN, is a second chance romance book. What can I say. Yes, I expected a sexually predictable idyll of a story, but this is so much more. Not only do you get to experience a threesome romance story with two sexy men, you also get an MMF cast, heartbreaking story, and raw emotions that it is unputdownable. Not all of its surprises are pleasant ones, but there is a certain satisfaction in experiencing a thread that is so obstinately unexpected. I was totally captivated when reading/listening 🎧 to this addictive page-turning story. This is Halsey, Santos, and Dustin’s story.

Dustin’s parents died in a car accident, and he had to live with his grandparents. In the small town, he met Halsey and Santos. These three fell in love and became inseparable, but Santos and Halsey’s parents had other plans to separate them. As they got older, they each went their separate ways. Dustin became a famous rock star even though he was fighting his addiction, Halsey became a sports doctor, and Santos became a professional hockey player. When Santos incurred an injury during a hockey game, Dustin helps Santos by asking Halsey to come and treat him as well as standing up to Santos’ parents. As their relationship slowly mends, the frayed threads holding the remnants of their love together can only get stronger before irrecoverable damage is done by the parents. Their journey made me feel the heartbreak, hope, and sadness because they are three damaged people trying to find acquiescence within themselves and with one another. This is a powerful tale of three people who have a lot to discover about themselves and a love they feel is undeniable. The question is, will their burgeoning love survive beneath a shroud of uncertainty and despair? What happens next? Well, read this amazing story and find out—you won’t regret it! Claudia Burgoa writes a dynamic story about love, forgiveness, acceptance, and family. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

The narrators were awesome!! Erin Mallon as Halsey, Oscar Reyes as Santos, and Sean Masters as Dustin. I love hearing how each narrator performed their part making the story seem more realistic. All of the narrator’s performances were outstanding. This audiobook is worth listening too!

Before We Break Again is an unputdownable story about three people who share an undeniable connection. This captivating and addicting story is full of secrets, longing, heartache, and unconditional love. Dustin, Santos and Halsey were best friends as kids, and their connection became much more in their teens. But being a throuple was not what their parents could handle, so they tore them apart. For years they all struggled, becoming successful in their careers but never feeling complete or happy. Now they are back together after Santos has a possible career ending injury and Dustin convinces Halsey that she is the only one who can fix him, and them. Halsey is afraid to open her heart to them again, but she can't turn her back on them either. Can these broken people find a way to be together and whole again, or will this be what breaks their hearts apart for good? I was so completely captivated by this emotional love story. I loved Dustin, Santos and Halsey so much, and the direction and journey their story took me on was so touching and beautiful. My heart broke for what they each endured, but soared as each of their connections and relationships grew stronger. Their complex journey isn't easy, and their unconventional union is a rollercoaster ride that is at times, raw and painful, but fun, hopeful and passionate as well. This story proves that love has no limits and bounds but is beautiful and pure in all its manifest glory.
The narration by Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes, and Sean Masters was so captivating. They took on these complex characters so intimately with their voice, tone, and disposition, making them so clear to me. They are such masterful storytellers, sweeping me along, and making me feel every emotion, like I was right there with Halsey, Santos, and Dustin. I always love these narrators and they really were so perfectly cast here.
Burgoa really delivers all the feels in this all consuming journey of friendship, forgiveness, trust, and love, and I loved every moment!

Before We Break Again is a second chance romance, featuring Halsey, Santos and Dustin. After Dustin's parents perished in a car accident, he was sent to live with his grandparents. That is where he met Halsey and Dustin, and the three fell in love. When Halsey's parents found out, they reacted poorly and dragged her away, not even allowing her time to say goodbye. Santos and Dustin found comfort in each other, but the duo always longed for the missing piece of their throuple.

Dustin grew up to be a rockstar forever battling his addictions and the trauma of his past. Santos followed in his father's footsteps and became a famous hockey player. His controlling father sent him to conversion therapy, trying to keep him on the "straight and narrow". Halsey, forever trying to please her bigoted parents, became a sports medicine doctor.

When Santos incurs an injury during a hockey game, Dustin sneaks in to see him and the two end up sharing a passionate embrace. Santos' father intends to send his son to conversion therapy again but Dustin steps in and changes the future for all three of their never-forgotten throuple. Having kept tabs on Halsey from afar, Dustin surprises her and shows up at her door after years apart. He convinces her to quit her job and come with him to help treat Santos' injuries, and their hearts.

This is another beautifully written love story by Burgoa. While the chemistry never fizzled between the members of this throuple, they still have a lot of work to do on themselves as well as with their partners to be able to restore the relationship they once shared.

The audiobook is narrated by Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes and Sean Masters, who brought Halsey, Santos and Dustin to life, respectively. These incredibly talented voice actors did an amazing job individually and as a collective. Their performances were incredible; the characters' pain and pleasure was palpable.

From beginning to the end, I was absolutely captivated. The characters, the story, and the storytelling were wonderful. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Emotional second chance story

I was caught up in the story from beginning to end. This is a beautiful, emotional, angsty, story of love and friendship. Dustin, Santos, and Halsey were best friends as kids and developed into a young, reckless love later. When that love is discovered, they are separated and kept apart for years. Dustin is now a famous rockstar, Santos is an all-star professional hockey player, and Halsey is an orthopedic surgeon feeling underappreciated at work and dreams of opening her own practice. These three are reunited when Santos suffers a potentially career ending injury on the ice.

These are three broken individuals all struggling. They all have some sort of parental issue that bonds them, but all have their own demons they continue to fight. I loved watching these three mend their friendships and develop into more. There are some emotional full circle moments as they explore each other as partners and a trio, all while their past threatens their future.

Dual narration by Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes, and Sean Masters and it was exceptional. These three were cast perfectly. Erin portrayed Halsey’s strength to stand up to these two men and their big personalities. You also felt her insecurities and fears in trusting again. Oscar as Santos is amazing. He embodied the adult that still struggles under the control of his overbearing father and the natural loving soul he is. Sean Masters brought the angsty rockstar, Dustin to life. You felt all his vulnerabilities as he grapples with addiction and his constant fear of people leaving him. He carries the world on his shoulders and doesn’t see his own worth. Bottom line, these three brought an already fantastic story up to another level and I couldn’t stop listening.

The story is told with a series of flashbacks from all POVs. It helps you understand their history and feel the impact it had on their future selves. This left me feeling happy and hopeful by the end of the story. I loved every bit of the ride with these three.

🏒 Hockey Why Choose 🏒

Before We Break Again by the ever talented Claudia Burgoa has finally arrived. This slow burn, hockey, why choose romance will thrill the hockey loving readers and spark their minds. If you're not into why choose, this book won’t be for you. No major trigger warnings.

Santos, Dustin and Halsey were once scared children clinging to each other, best friends who found love in one another. But as the world likes to remind us, bad things always happen and they are forced apart by their parents. Santos and Dustin are able to remain together, but Halsey is left with no one hole in her heart, but two. Now years later they are together again. Santos now down from a horrible injury, threatening his hockey career turns Dustin who acts as a band-aid, but does all he can to bring Dr. Halsey is to assist Santos in the healing process. Dustin too is dealing with his own troubles and isn’t the same carefree boy he once was.

Wow! What a heckin 'journey this one was. It’s not all gooey love scenes, it's raw emotion and brutal truth, three people that found each other young and had the world telling them it was wrong. Santos, Dustin and Halsey have been through the ringer, and it's not done with them yet. After Santos’ injury, and Halsey’s return, there is much to unpack with all three of them and that really gets to the meat of the story. Santos is healing, but Dustin is also dealing with his addiction, not to mention Halsey coming to terms with seeing them both again. There is angst, there is spice, there is drama, there is passion, there is character growth and there is love. I really hope to see more from this world!

21+. Beautifully Broken and Brave

ALC Review: Before We Break Again by Claudia Burgoa

Before We Break Again by Claudia Burgoa is a powerful and deeply emotional love story, unfolding through the alternating first-person perspectives of three characters: Halsey, a doctor; Dustin, a musician; and Santos, a hockey player.

Halsey and Santos have been inseparable since childhood, growing up together in a small town. Dustin enters their lives after moving from L.A. to live with his grandparents, his world recently turned upside down. What starts as a friendship between three kids slowly grows into something powerful and life-changing.

As teenagers, they fall in love in a way that no one around them can understand. The adults in their lives will do anything to keep them apart. What follows is a tender, heart-wrenching exploration of love, acceptance, and the courage to be true to yourself, even when the world says you shouldn’t.

Torn apart by forces beyond their control, they drift in different directions—only to be drawn back together by the gravity of a love that never faded. Their story spans years of truth, fragility, and an unshakable connection

The chemistry between Halsey, Dustin, and Santos feels raw and genuine. While some sections are slightly repetitive or over-explained, the emotional depth more than makes up for it. The balance between story and spice roughly half and half keeps the narrative both heartfelt and sensual.

The audiobook narration, performed by Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes, and Sean Masters, was beautifully done. Their voices complemented one another perfectly and added an extra layer of emotion to an already moving story. Each performance captured the heart of the characters and elevated the entire listening experience

✨Audiobook Review✨

Claudia Burgoa always hits your emotions and makes your heart melt at the same time. This audiobook had me from the very beginning. These characters have a lot of emotional trauma they will have to go through over time. I felt so bad for these three characters but I knew that even though we were going to go through some tough moments we were going to have something beautiful in the end.

The narrators were Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes and Sean Masters. They told this story together so well! I love these narrators individually and together they were amazing! I love that their voices make you feel what the characters are feeling and going through. I was entertained and they held my attention through the entire book.

Dustin, Santos and Halsey were best friends and then they fell in love with each other. But then their families tore them apart. For years they tried to move on but then after an injury causes these three to come back together, they decide it's their time to make their own choices.

These three have a lot of healing to do and to learn about each other but over time these three will learn to connect again. This story was very emotional because if you put yourself in their shoes it will truly break your heart and sole. NO ONE should tell you what you can and can't do with your own life! This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster, had me BLUSHING (WOW Claudia..LOL), swooning and in the end made me smile from the beauty of everything coming together. I HIGHLY recommend this audiobook!

Thank you Claudia Burgoa for allowing me to listen to this ALC for my honest opinion.

Before We Break Again
By: Claudia Burgoa
Narrated by: Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes, Sean Masters

WOW! What a story. From childhood taboo to adults this story is full of love, heartbreak and hope. Dustin, Santos and Halsey fell in love in high school. The feelings were real, but when Halsey's parents found out, they packed her and their family up and moved away. This destroyed all three of them, and now as adults, the results of this break are evident. Santos is a hockey player with a possible career ending injury, and Dustin comes to his rescue. He convinces Halsey, an orthopedic surgeon, to move and help Santos with his rehab. But where does that leave the three of them? Can they pick up where they left off years ago? Will their families let it go and move with what makes their children happy? Will the three of them still be in love with their adult selves? This is packed with so many feelings, I didn't know what to do with my heart. Each one has their own issues, and back then together they fit to make them whole. I loved how Claudia Burgoa shifts back and forth from past to present as I got to know each one of them and how their bond is impossible to break. Spicy and true soulmates, these three wormed their way into my heart.

Sean Masters, Oscar Reyes and Erin Mallon are the story tellers for this story and together they brought this story alive. Dual narration gave each one the chance to tell both the past and present of their character and made it easy to understand. Plus the chemistry between them emulated through their voices creating the magic Dustin, Santos and Halsey had. This is a gem and should not be missed!

This is a standalone book and it is Halsey, Santos and Dustin’s story and omg it is definitely a must read but get the tissues ready because you are definitely going to need them. Halsey, Santos and Dustin were best friends and always together and there for each other in every single way possible but soon feelings started to grow between them all which was forbidden so they kept everything a secret until everything between them was blown apart leaving them all devastated. Years later and they all reconnect and the attraction, chemistry, connection and love between them all was still as strong and intense as ever but with there situation being complicated it caused problems and they had outside difficulties and they will have to fight so hard to get what they want and not what others feel about their unconventional relationship because if they want to be together they need to communicate and push other people’s thoughts away while getting on with their own lives which is more important than anything else. There are many ups and downs along with great characters, hot scenes, heartbreak, reconnecting, hope, dreams and a love that stood the test of time. There are many twists and turns along with emotional situations that will break your heart but as usual Claudia will put you back together in the most beautiful way possible just like she always does. I definitely recommend you read this book and others by Claudia Burgoa who is a amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her readers not only addicted to her books but she will also keep your attention throughout her books and you will definitely not be disappointed.

“Promise me something?”
“What?”
“If we ever have to leave each other, we’ll always find our way back.”

“We weren’t a mistake...Loving is never a mistake."

There’s beauty in the mess we’ve become. We’re not perfect, but maybe that’s okay. Maybe we’re meant to love each other in the imperfections, to find our way through the cracks."

The passionate second chance Before We Break Again, by romance author Claudia Burgoa, is written with such emotional impact that it leaves you with an open heart for all kinds of love.

Halsey (a doctor), Santos (a hockey player) and Dustin (a famous singer) were childhood besties until high school, when romantic feelings changed their lives. Their parents, and society, believe their love is a sin so they are separated by thousands of miles.

But Halsey doesn't know that Dustin has paid for medical school with "scholarships" and that he and Santos are still together hidden from the press. When Santos suffers a career ending injury Dustin knows only Halsey can save him physically...and mentally.

Voice actress Erin Mallon breaks your heart with her fears of allowing the only two men she has ever loved back in her life, knowing it will destroy her family. Voice actors Oscar Reyes as Santos and Sean Masters as Dustin are endearing as lovers but bring the heat in all their steamy moments.

Before We Break Again is an MMF love story. It's a story of compassion, consideration and found family. It's also a sexy romance about taking a chance before their hearts break again.

I received free copies of this book/audiobook from the author for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was my first throuple trope written by this author, and I was completely swept away. The story centers on a three wonderful characters—Santos, Halsey, and Dustin—and their journey toward healing, reconnection, and second chances. I found myself rooting for them from start to finish, aching for their reunion and the love they so clearly deserved.

The stakes were high: Santos faced a potentially career-ending injury while battling the suffocating control of his bigoted father, who tried to force him into conversion therapy and separate him from the people he loved most. The emotional tension was palpable, and I was on edge hoping Santos would find the strength to resist.

Each member of the throuple carried deep wounds:

• Halsey, torn from her loves by disapproving parents, tried to lock away her heart and earn their approval—only to be met with constant criticism.
• Dustin, the rockstar, spiraled into addiction and self-doubt, believing he wasn’t worthy of love or life.
• Santos, under his father’s thumb, poured himself into hockey, suppressing his true self to survive.

Their reunion was raw and powerful, set against a backdrop of crisis and emotional reckoning. Santos’ injury, Dustin’s despair, and Halsey’s breaking point with her mother’s relentless judgment all converged in a moment that demanded truth, vulnerability, and courage.

I’ll admit—I was impatient! I wanted them back together immediately. But the author wisely gave space for each character to confront their past and grow before reuniting. That slow burn made their eventual reconnection all the more satisfying.

This story was a deeply emotional, beautifully crafted read. I’m so glad to read it!

This was my first Burgoa book, and I can see why so many readers love her writing. She gives us a deeply emotional story with a blend of heartbreak, healing, and hope. The book follows three characters who were torn apart in their teens. When Santos experiences a potential career-ending injury, the only person who can help him heal is orthopaedic surgeon and one of his first loves, Halsey. The only one who can get her to him is his other first love, Dustin. The trio had an inseparable childhood bond, but it was destroyed when their families didn’t understand their love. Now they have a second chance to explore their love on their own terms.

Burgoa’s writing is heartfelt and introspective. She has a gift for exploring emotions and family dynamics. There are three families involved here, and seeing the different ways they dealt with this relationship was key to this story.

I loved Halsey, Santos, and Dustin together, watching them develop their relationships both among them and individually. They had incredible chemistry that was poignant, messy, and real. There were times when the angst overshadowed the connections between the characters, but these angst-filled moments helped them work through raw and genuine emotions. I found myself rooting for them throughout.

As a first-time reader, I was impressed with Burgoa’s layered storytelling and heartfelt writing. This is a story about how love can hurt, heal, and ultimately make you stronger.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 by Claudia Burgoa is an MMF, polyamorous, second-chance romance for Dustin, Santos, and Halsey. They were a trio of childhood best friends who found a profound, soul-deep love as teenagers, ripped apart by rigid family expectations and judgmental attitudes. When a horrific hockey injury, sidelines Santos, famous rocker Dustin is determined to convince Halsey, the successful doctor to help Santos heal and maybe piece them all back together while she’s at it. No one writes gut-wrenching emotion and angst like Claudia Burgoa, and these three characters captured my attention and my heart so quickly. They each had their own unique demons to slay, whether it was family related in some way or even addiction, it was a beautifully power journey of learning to find their strength as individuals and as a unit. You cannot deny their connections, their fiery chemistry and passion, or their love.

The audio narrated by Erin Mallon, Oscar Reyes, and Sean Masters elevated an already fantastic book to a whole new level of phenomenal! I was mesmerized by their flawless performances, as they conveyed all the raw and gritty emotion, the pain of bigotry, the tension, as well as the unbridled passion, the inspiring love, the soulmate bonds, and the beauty of true healing and even forgiveness. This was a real masterclass in narration. I can’t wait to see what this author has up her sleeve next, and which amazing narrators she snags for it!😉

I received an ARC/ALC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
