Anisa never expected a night out with her girls to flip her entire world upside down. Independent, driven, and focused on her daughter, love wasn’t on her radar—until Alan walked in, fine as hell and smooth with his words. What started as flirty banter turned into late-night conversations, undeniable chemistry, and the kind of intimacy that awakens the soul.
But loving a man like Alan comes with complications. A secret entanglement from his past threatens everything they’re building. As trust is tested and hearts are on the line, Anisa must decide if passion is enough to withstand the storm—or if love means walking away.
Full of steamy moments, real-life struggles, and fierce emotional depth, I’m Yours to Be is a romance that explores healing, honesty, and what happens when two imperfect people choose each other anyway.
Good debut novel from Nicole. I really enjoyed reading about Alan & Anisa. The plot was great. From friends to lovers 🥰 Their conversations, the chemistry was whewwwww! 🤤🔥
The only thing I can nit pick about is the spacing of the sentences. After every sentence or couple sentences it would break into another sentence instead of it being a full paragraph. I hope I'm making sense lol
I am looking forward to reading Reign and Neil's book next.
2.75 ⭐️ I love finding new authors to support, and when I read the blurb for this one, I was intrigued. I’m all for working through messy situations, but sis… not only was she the side chick—she got stabbed by his girl and still stuck around? I don’t know what kind of demon dique this man had, but baby, it’s not worth your safety! And doing all this because her dad was investing in his business—without him performing no background check or anything? WILD. Now, as for the writing itself, the formatting definitely needs some work. It’s set up like a rough draft, and the constant POV switches without chapter breaks make it jarring and confusing to follow. It’s also a bit too wordy, leaning more on telling than showing, and the random time jumps pull you out of the story instead of drawing you in. For a debut,—there’s potential here—but I do hope the author tightens up the structure and pacing in future projects.
Anisa is his peace. Alan is her chaos. The relationship that grows after the initial encounter is far more than she bargained for. It’s alright, because she welcomes the change he brings.
Now I won’t lie, I was side-eyeing Alan from the start. It’s great Anisa could get past his relationship with Shantel, because what the helly lol? What you mean she won’t leave 👀? Chile, it’s a mess.
I rarely give men the benefit of the doubt, but I’ll try. In the months leading up to a climactic point in the novel, Alan has been using all his resources to gather all the intel he needs to make his transition towards complete ownership of a company. This is responsible of him and all but, I was pissed for my girl Anisa. She wouldn’t have been wrong to be done with this situationship, but I digress.
Anisa’s steadfastness in the literal face of opposition works in her favor. I can say after the dust settles the two are able to enjoy their bond without the threats of the past lurking. It was exciting to see them flourish.
I’m always gonna enjoy someone being loved beyond what they thought was possible.
I loved the concept of man meets woman and they work through their respective baggage to be together. The problem was in the execution. I think this is a beautiful job for Nicole's book but some things can be updated, even after the book has been published. Both characters lack full development and the story reads more conversational. Reading it feels like my homegirl is telling me about her man, which would be great for listening to my friend but lacks depth when reading a book. There is great dialogue but the amount of dialogue leads to the issue of telling more than showing. I think there is great potential with this book, there are just some technical things that need to be refined.
I think overall this book is super cute. The characters were relatable and easy to root for throughout the story. However, I do think there are a lot of holes in the plot (ex: the BD, where was Delilah, the girlfriend situation-was that her father or not) and the ending felt rushed and thrown together. Even still, I will definitely give the next book a chance.
This book is the perfect combination of pure innocent romance and hot and steamy romance. The chemistry Nicole showed us between Alan and Anisa was palpable. This book left me wanting more and kept me on the edge of my seat. I’m filled with anticipation for book 2 and can’t wait for its release.
This is my first read by this author. It started off good. Loved the chemistry with Alan and Anisa. I also enjoyed the plot twist. I felt like the last couple of chapters were just fillers and rushed. I also felt like Anisa's daughter was an afterthought once Anise and Alan finally got back together.
Alan and Anisa love story was great. I was happy how Alan fought the woman he wanted. He made sure nothing stood in his way. Anisa was young but had to grow up early and learn not to let anything stand in her way. They have to go through upa and downs, but in the end, love won.
Well, August 2026 has unintentionally & unofficially been✨”Debut”✨ month 👀🤩🤭‼️ Meanwhile, another ✨Debut Novel, Series & Author✨by Author Nicole Monroe - “I’m Yours To Be (The Love Series)” - Book 1 which was interesting & entertaining. However, who are you⁉️The characters & plot development was juvenile & had minimal context & depth beyond intimate proclivities. More so, unfortunately, there were numerous squandered opportunities to capitalize, explore & or expound on implied urban elements/events of various characters (specifically MMC) & or their storylines. Yet, we still don't know the crew nor the concise circumstances etc.🤷🏾♀️‼️Hopefully, with time Author Monroe literary journey will mature.
You talk about love finding it's One. These two, total strangers, both with their own stories, both missing that real love. Fate would bring them where they needed and show up and out about them. Anisa not only found the man to love her unconditionally but he loved Deliah as his own. He built Anisa to where she was comfortable to be open to all Alan offered. Alan, stuck with the wrong woman. Not only the wrong one but his entanglement with the woman who refuses to leave, and holding devastating secrets, threatens to keep them apart. Beyond the many spicy moments, can they heal to live with true happiness. Read and see
Ms. Monroe, yes ma’am! This book was so good. I felt giddy like I was floating on a damn cloud lol. I love books with minimal drama. My heart can’t take it. The romance, the respect, the love, the big group of smart, intelligent, driven, good black men pairing with the big group of intelligent, sexy, funny, strong black women was everything to me! This was a beautiful story and I enjoyed every page!
I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I loved it! Alan and Anisa met in a club and there was an attraction on site however Alan had a loose end at home aka a girlfriend/relationship that he was trying to rid himself of. I normally don't care for stories with intentional cheating however once everything came out it made sense and explained why Alan was moving the way he did. I love a good age gap romance and the 10o year age gape between Alan and Anisa was just that! They went through some things as a couple but thankfully Alan got his crap together! I'm looking forward to more of Nicole's work and seeing her grow as an author.
No much to say. If you enjoy spice you will enjoy it. It’s sad to see why some women/girls think they need to put their hands on women or anyone for that matter. If he doesn’t want you simply leave. My opinion 😥
I enjoyed reading this. This was cute and no back and forth. The drama was there. I love that, Anisa got her second chance with love with Alan. I kinda wanted to know why Alan first marriage didn't work out. Overall I enjoyed this.
