The Rules Regarding Gray

Rate this book
Gracelynn is drowning in an existence that fails to fulfill her. A ballerina by trade, she’s devoted her life to the stage, sacrificing adventure for discipline. When her boyfriend gives her permission to want what she’s not supposed to want, can she walk away? Or will she leap?

Jasper isn’t a man with many boundaries, and “sharing” a woman with his best friend is hardly a new endeavor. But the moment he meets Gracelynn he realizes she’s different. She leaves him feeling alive in a way he’s not used to, and for the first time in his life, he understands what it means to be wanted… Cherished… And he needs more…

But there are rules—rules that forbid Jasper from truly having her. As forbidden desire spirals out of control, Jasper has to decide if he’s willing to fight for something that doesn’t truly belong to him. His best friend doesn’t deserve her, but is Jasper strong enough to believe he does?

★★★★1/2 Rules Regarding Gray (stand-alone). Two people fight their attraction after a ménage that left them both wanting more…!

“I want you to fuck Jas. Ian’s words were so casual.”

Rules Regarding Gray (stand-alone) follows principal ballerina Gracelynn Ellis, Gray. At age 27 years she has enjoyed a good career at the Ballet Austin Academy and for the last several months she has been dating the perfect man, CFO Ian.

One day Ian brings his best friend bar owner Jasper Drees, Jas to her ballet practice. Unbeknownst to her, he has plans to spruce up their sex life by bringing Jasper into their bedroom. This is something these two renowned bachelors have done many times before, but never with an actual girlfriend.

“You wanna try her?”

Jasper initially balks at the offer but Ian presses on. After the shock settles and for reasons that will unfold with story Jasper and Gray accept the offer. Ian lays down the ground rules regarding their ménage and the three of them enjoy a sexy evening together fuck-fest with everything from sex to voyeurism to anal.

Somewhere along the line a friendship has formed between Jasper and Gray and following their ménage both feel an insane sexual attraction and connection, but they are bound by the rules regarding Gray and so the story goes on to follow then in the aftermath as they fight their attraction.

It’s evident for an early stage, thanks to blurb and their dual POVs that this is very much Jasper and Gray’s story.

Gray is everything Jasper refuses to want. Jasper awakes every insecurity in Gray, plus of course there is Ian…. And they both have pain and hurt in their past that needs to be dealt with. Soon developments in both Gray and Jasper’s lives set them at a fork in the road if you will. With a relationship and a lifelong friendship at stake how will they handle their budding romance?

“No, Gray. Intense is fucking you. This is just plain pathetic.”

Seven words to describe Gracelynn Ellis, Gray: Innocent, unassuming, sweet, timid, caring, loyal and insecure.

 photo RRGH2xBSbysb_zps6f1ebe98.gif

Seven words to describe Jasper Drees, Jas: Reflective, damaged, focused, blunt, smart, conflicted and attentive.

 photo RRGH1xBSbysb_zps846fa0a8.gif

Seven words to describe Ian: Debauched, blunt, smart, charming, entitled, jaded and blasé.

Rules Regarding Gray is very much a journey of self-reflection and growth and dealing with consequences of one’s choices. Though I struggle with the angst aspect of triangles in general I felt this story had a feel-good aspect and it has the perfect ending! Loved where it took them!

Sizzling sex scenes! Excellent story-telling! Angst-filled yet hopeful plot! I very enjoyable read!

“She is so special I rewrote my entire existence for her.”

The Rules Regarding Gray is an emotional, sensual, and passionate story thats full of angst. The exact type of book that Elizabeth Finn writes perfectly. It’s a painfully beautiful romance that I devoured in one day. Could not put this one down! Is it a love triangle? Is there cheating? Well… it’s complicated. To me- small love triangle and no on the cheating. But I feel like it’s one of those stories that will be subjective to who ever is reading.

Our story begins with the beautiful ballerina named Gray-short-for-Gracelynn-but-never-Grace. Gray has spent most of her teen/adult life dancing. It is a strict profession. You have to dedicate so much of your time, energy and life to your craft. Because of that, she hasn’t dated much. She now has a boyfriend named Ian. A boyfriend who is interested in… sharing her with his best friend. At first, Gray is completely shocked and appalled. But Ian’s best friend Jasper is someone she is attracted to. And Gray’s life has been so structured and predictable… maybe this one time she wants to do something different, something risky and new.

 photo b3540610-7cea-45f4-90e3-7deb187a3724_zpsfd7e891f.jpg

What she didn’t expect is for Jasper to be so much more. To have any real feelings for him.

Jas is a much different man than his best friend Ian. Sure, he’s shared women with him before, but he knows Gray is different. She’s not a random girl, she’s Ian’s girlfriend. And as much as he wants her, he’s not sure if it’s something he’s comfortable with. So when Ian first asks him, he doesn’t jump at the opportunity. But the more time he spends with Gray and the more he gets to know her, the more he begins to want her, no matter who she belongs to. Jas and Gray actually have conversations, and it becomes more than just sex.

 photo 5199c236-523b-4e0c-8f1b-9f8f95035703_zps2500f68e.jpg

He wasn’t supposed to want her this much. He was supposed to want to play with her and nothing else, but every time he looked at her all he could think about was the word more. More. He needed more of her.

One night between the three of them will change everything between Gray and Jas. The connection they share is something so much deeper than anything either has felt before. It puts the both of them in a confusing situation. They both want more from each other, but where do they go from here?

 photo 8b449891-4aff-4a5c-a5e8-4e4037e7b8d0_zps0b8e401d.jpg

Jasper knows Ian doesn’t deserve a girl like Gray, but he’s not sure he does either. It’s disconcerting to him. She makes him feel different. Better. Makes him feel much more than he’s ever felt before with anyone. And he doesn’t know how to handle those feelings.
He didn’t know anything about what he was feeling- nothing at all. It was at once painful and intoxicating, addicting and liberating. He felt so human and weak with her, and yet, he was more comfortable in his vulnerability than he ever imagined he could be. Why did she make him feel so many things?

Gray and Jas attempt to stay friends after their time together- to stay in each others lives. When given ‘permission’ to go farther with just the two of them, is it something that they will be able to handle? A night without rules and regulations… will their feelings get even stronger, more confusing, or both? It’s something that will complicate everything even more. That’s for sure.

 photo 9cb24a41-8fca-4f22-9fe9-fc21cc36aa65_zpsdf88dc1e.jpg

I loved Jasper and Gray together and the relationship they had. And lets get one thing straight… I HATED IAN. Now that it’s out of the way, that is why this love triangle didn’t bother me. Because one of the people in it was a complete and utter manipulative tool. What Gray and Jas did never once felt like cheating to me.

Gray and Jas were both conflicted about their feelings, their actions, wants, needs and desires. I feel like that showed a lot of character. A lot of people don’t care enough to feel like they were doing something wrong in that situation but they did.

Jasper was a beautiful man inside and out. He had strong character, he was domineering and alpha, but also emotional and beautifully broken. As much as I loved Gray, Jasper stole the show for me. I loved the way he saw Gray- the way he made her see herself. And the way she showed him that he was worthy. They really complimented each other.

 photo 9c893595-2744-4ade-b3b2-c2cffb7f3750_zpsb476f1aa.jpg

This is a story about choices- deciding to follow your head, or follow your heart. Following your head and sense of loyalty, or taking a leap and doing what your heart desires. It’s a struggle when your head and heart don’t match up. Gray and Jas both dealt with that struggle and it was heartbreaking to watch.

This author writes the best sensual and passionate romances. The steam was off the charts, but that wasn’t even the best part. I loved the growth that both main characters exhibited. I loved that they brought out the best in each other. Their connection was palpable. You could feel the strength in their bond. Elizabeth’s writing is fluid and flawless. I love the way she tells her stories.

If you’re looking for a beautiful romance that is emotionally charged, full of angst and will keep you on the edge of your seat, pick up The Rules Regarding Gray. It was an addictive read that captivated me from the start. Even though I was anxious while reading, the end left me completely blissed out. This is a book that comes highly recommended by me. A full 5 stars.

4.5--Rules Are Meant To Be Broken--Stars!!!

If you're like me, read the blurb and promptly went...

Think again! I'm a big Elizabeth Finn fan so, of course, I still wanted to read this book. But that blurb just screams (a) love triangle and (b) cheating...two things I am not a fan of.

And while technically, it is a love triangle and there is kind of-sort of cheating...

I didn't even care about that...because I loved this one.

Gray-short-for-Gracelynn-but-never-Grace is a ballerina with the Ballet Austin Academy. She's dating Ian--the biggest douchebag on the planet. Don't even get me started on Ian.

Gray has spent her whole life dancing. She gave up her childhood and partying and dating in favor of dance. And now she's looking for more.

“Ian … excites me. He doesn’t play by the rules, and more than that, he doesn’t give a shit about them. And I feel a little less dull when I’m with him.”

Jasper is Ian's best friend. And upon Jasper meeting Gray, Ian proposes that they share Gray for the night. But there are rules. And while both Gray and Jasper are initially against the idea, the more they talk and get to know each other, the more they want the chance to be with each other.

“I guess… I want to do something I’m not supposed to do. I want to want something I’m not supposed to want. I want to make the mistake I’m not supposed to make.”

One night isn't going to be enough for Gray and Jasper.

Gray makes Jasper feel alive. She makes him feel good. She doesn't care about who is he, where he come from, what his past was like.

They know they can't be together. Jasper doesn't do relationships, Gray does. And the truth of the matter is, Gray is still in a relationship with Ian. But that doesn't change the amount of sexual chemistry and tension between Jasper and Gray.

No matter how hard Gray and Jasper try to stay away from each other they want more. They try to follow the rules that Ian set.

"You can’t imagine how much I want your pussy. I want it wet for me. I want to feel it against me, around me, squeezing me, and suffocating the hell out of my cock.”

They try not to cross that line. They try being just friends. But it's never enough.

I loved how blunt Jasper was. How honest he was about how he felt about Gray. And how honest Gray was about her feelings for Jasper.

The thing that I hate about love triangles, is someone has to lose. Often, I don't want to have to choose someone. I don't want someone to lose. In this case, I wanted Ian to die a slow painful death from the very beginning.

He would not go away. He was always there, lingering in the back ground trying to cause problems.

Gray and Jasper have to trust what they feel for each other.

“I love your eyes, I love your lips, I love your tits, I love your pussy, and your bottom, and your belly. I love to look at you. I get hard just thinking about the way you look, smell, taste, feel. I think you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”

They have to fight for what and who they want. They have to let their fears go and believe in what they share.

This was a really excellent read! It was enthralling, it was captivating, it was sexy, it was angsty. It was everything I could hope for in a book.

Before I go on to my review, let me tell you about my feelings about love triangle and cheating:

So when I read the blurb I immediately said

So I approached this book with a healthy of dose of caution and a little bit of this
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And a lot of this.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Fortunately, my friends, I enjoyed this one very, very much. Besides, this book DOESN'T really HAVE the dreaded love triangle or cheating. It's kinda hard to explain without spoiling everything, so you really just have to trust me on this.

Yes, Gray does have a boyfriend when she and Jasper fell in love BUT I can confidently say it's not cheating or an LT because they were given permission by Ian. And Ian, Gray's "boyfriend" is a total douche bag. He's like the king of all douche bags.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

In fact, he takes douche-baggery to a whole new level that I cheered when Jasper and Gray finally gave in to their feelings. I felt no remorse or guilt. None whatsoever.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Jasper and Gray on the other hand felt guilty and conflicted especially Jasper because he and Ian have been friends for a long time. Still, guilty sex is hot sex. I'm not even sure that makes sense but the way, Elizabeth Finn write those sexy scenes were just erotically sublime. She brings a lot of emotion into her sexy scenes that they never read clinical to me. Most of the time I tend to skim a lot of sex scenes because after the first two, it kinda feels the same to me. But not with EF's books. I always read them because they are always emotionally nuanced.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So why not 5?
Well, there's one scene where I wasn't entirely sure the purpose of it was. I get that they wanted to get back at Ian. Hell, I would, too. But the way they went about it was kind of lame and left me feeling disappointed a little bit with the revenge part.

Other than that little hiccup, this book was hot and emotionally on point.

For me, reading this book took some balls. Angst, love triangle, cheating…did I scare you yet? ;) As a reader who loathes all three, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I did enjoy the book. It has a very interesting book premise and for the most part the story was sensual, erotic, and at times, deeply emotional. But at the same time, this book also didn’t work for me. I think the combination of high angst, extremely damaged and flawed characters, and a meddlesome, needs-to-die-already ‘best friend’ all together messed with my emotions in a bad way. For every positive I can come up with, there’s a negative to counter so that leaves me with the middle-number rating.

***************************

Gracelynn Ellis ‘Gray’ is a ballerina and has been dating the seemingly perfect guy – Ian – for the past 4 months. Her past experiences have left her with an extremely insecure and timid side, and so Gray accepts much of Ian’s verbal abuse without defense. On one of her rehearsal days, Ian brings his best friend and bar owner Jasper Drees over to meet Gray in hopes of spicing up their sex life by sharing her, something these two rakes have done many times in the past. What started out as an outright refusal turns into a tentative agreement as Gray is interested in exploring her sexuality and breaking out of her shell.

description

Though Ian has set up rules that serve as boundaries to how intimate Gray and Jasper can be, the heart knows no boundaries and Gray and Jasper connect on a deep and emotional level neither of them have ever had before with anyone else. The story then portrays them fighting and giving into their attraction along with their inner turmoil, guilt, lust and about a dozen other emotions.

***************************

It’s pretty obvious that the book is a romance between Jasper and Gray so the whole ‘love triangle’ aspect isn’t too bad. I think the author did a good job with showing how crucial it was that these two characters had to be together, whether it be through the explosive sex scenes or emotional moments. Without that kind of desperation and deep feelings, it would’ve been hard to convince me of the strength of their bond. I still thought the author threw their attraction in the reader’s faces too soon, almost bordering on insta-love but at the same time I understood. With a shitty boyfriend like Ian, Jasper’s sensitivity and attentiveness is definitely more appealing. I have to admit, I wasn’t too keen about their relationship in the beginning but once I saw how much they were willing to go through for each other, they won me over. I rooted for them, even when I wanted to slap them senseless. As unstable, dysfunctional, and lost these characters were, they belonged together. They were better people by being together, and helped each other fill the void in their hearts. That much is undeniable.

description

This book could’ve gotten at least 4 stars from me if it weren’t for the fact I had to suspend disbelief in order to somewhat enjoy the story. The crux of the issue is why didn’t Gray just break up with Ian already so she and Jasper could be together?? Honest to God, there is not a single reason provided why she couldn’t just break up with him. Ian’s no saint – calling him rude, abrasive, and a douchenugget is being nice. But hey, if she did break up him early on in the book, then there wouldn’t be this ‘forbidden’ aspect, which means no push-pull dynamic and high angst. Moral of this little paragraph is to not question the logistics of their relationship because it would be futile. Oh and while I’m on the topic of their relationship, I thought it was a bad move on the author’s part to add in a little revenge scene near the end of the book. While I did like the sentiment behind the idea, the actual execution was very childish and completely trivialized Gray and Jasper’s entire emotional journey, making it like a game of ‘who got the girl in the end.’ Not cool.

In the end, maybe I’m just not cut out for these kinds of stories. It’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy this book at all because I did. I lived and craved for some of the one-on-one emotional scenes Jasper and Gray had where they actually worked out their problems and not let indecisiveness and insecurity take over. If you’re a fan of high and somewhat unnecessary angst, sizzling hot sex scenes with ménage, and a hard-earned, hard-fought, rewarding ending, this is the book for you.

I want to do something I'm not supposed to do. I want to want something I'm not supposed to want. I want to make the mistake I'm not supposed to make.

I'll be the first to admit that the second I even get a whiff of a love triangle in a book

So when I first read the blurb here, I was a little scared. I don't do love triangles...well aside from a very few exceptions. And if you're anything like me? You'll want to read this book. While a love triangle is implied with the "sharing", it's not really one. Gray's boyfriend is a douchebag of epic proportions from the very first page, so there's never really any doubt about who to root for. It's very clear they're not meant to be together. Now usually my biggest pet peeve when 3 people are involved is the heroine dilly dallying with a decision; stringing one along because she just can't make up her mind while having an angst fest with the other man. I didn't find that to be the case here either. Grace was clear about what she's going to do fairly quick, and I understood why it took her the time that it did...though not always liking it. There were a few certain circumstances that prevent her from cutting Ian loose right away, and while I wish it happened quicker, I didn't mind the pacing of it.

Gracelynn is a prima ballerina that's devoted her life to her career and making sure she lives her life on the straight and narrow; disciplined. She's been dating Ian for a few months, and things seem to be going well...until he makes a proposal that changes everything.
I want you to fuck Jas.

Yes, Ian is nothing if not eloquent.
How does a girl turn a proposal like that down? Well, easily actually. Gray is obviously insulted by it at first, as is Jasper. But neither can deny their uncontrollable attraction to one another, even though Gray is nothing like Jasper's usual type. Deciding to finally let go of her tightly held rules, Gray decides to take the risk if only to know what it may be like and to experience the undercurrent of passion that seems to run between her and Jas. But of course the ever eloquent Ian also has some rules.
You don't touch her. Not her tits, not her face, certainly not her pussy. You keep your mouth off her and your fingers out of her. And she will not be sucking your cock either. I'm reserving every part of her for myself except for one very small, tight hole.

He's a real peach, isn't he? See what I mean about this not really a being a love triangle since you'll pretty much want to jock punch him from the very first chapter?

After one night of forbidden pleasure, it soon becomes clear that there's something beyond just lust between Gray and Jas. But their guilt of betraying Jasper's best friend and Gray's boyfriend, Ian, is a constant presence between them.

Jasper truly stole the show for me with this book. He was such an incredibly endearing character, I just couldn't get enough of him. I loved how Elizabeth portrayed him as a strong yet ultimately broken man, and allowed him to let his emotions through while keeping him as alpha as it gets.
Say yes."
"Yes", she breathed out.
"Say you understand exactly what we're doing. No rules, Gray. That means I'm going to fuck you however the hell I want and tell your boyfriend to eat shit while I'm stretching that sweet pussy of yours."

This was an erotic and emotional read that will tug at your heart strings and make you fall for Jasper just as hard as I did. Gray, while I can't say was my favorite heroine, was still a great one. If you're concerned there may be cheating, don't be. Ian pretty much gives the the go ahead, though Jas and Gray do still suffer from a healthy amount of guilt about it. I understood Gray's struggle even though I did wish she would become a little more assertive with Ian. I did love how supportive she was of Jasper and I absolutely loved the two of them together.
I guess real closeness comes when you find that person that can...break the hold your darkness sometimes has on you. They can liberate you.

My one complaint? The way that Gray and Jasper chose to "handle" Ian at the end. Their "revenge" read more like a juvenile prank more so than what two grown adults would decide to do. I would almost rather they did nothing than what they did. It felt a little random and a lot childish to me. But hey, that may just be me. I wanted to castrate Ian after the 2nd chapter, and I suppose that may have been a touch too excessive for this book LOL. I hope that Ian continues to be surrounded in pussy....really....

Of the furry and feline variety that is. Lawd but I hated him. I wasn't sure who I hated more in this book, Ian or Jasper's dad. Both were strong contenders for douchebag of the year. But I digress...

If you're a fan of Elizabeth Finn, this is a book you're not going to want to miss. It was emotional, erotic, at times a little painful to read, but ultimately a beautiful love story that began as a bit of forbidden fruit. I also adored the epilogue, the perfect way to end things with a glimpse into their future...

Gracelyn is a ballerina that, unfortunately, ended up in a relationship with an asshole for whom she believes have fallen in love.
One day he has the brilliant idea of sharing her with his best friend, Jasper. (Yes, sexually and yes, that is exactly what will happen.)
The problem for him? Jasper is the opposite of Ian and he’s amazing… and Gray can see it too.
So when they both start to have feelings for the other they know they’re breaking every rule. Jasper knows he loves her… but how do you love someone who’s committed to your best friend?

Rating: 4 Stars.
Storyline: I normally run from love triangles like I would run from the plague. Excepting only one book (Yes, Kellan Kyle. I’m talking about you!), I hate, HATE, love triangles. So as you expect, I hesitate A LOT before reading this. I’ve got to say that I found myself liking it (except for the triangle part, obviously) and the story is brilliantly constructed. I didn’t like how long it took to solve said triangle, and it’s definitely not a book I would read again, but for you people who don’t mind this issue, you’ll probably love this book, because in the end it’s a really beauty love story.
Writing Style: Third person, dual POV. Sexy and addictive.
Character Development: Gracelyn, or Gray, but never Grace was sweet and strong. I didn’t like how much it took her to leave Ian because he was an asshole, but it was understandable why she did it. Jasper was amazing, he was beautifully broken and I loved him. Ian was a f*cking asshole and deserved everything that came in his way. Stupid asshat.

About the story
____________________________________________

Gracelynn, is a principal dancer for a small ballet company. She has everything should possibly want, a handsome and successful boyfriend, Ian, who has so far been very attentive. After a rehearsal, Ian introduces Gray to his best friend, Jasper. Gray is intrigued by Jasper, he's unconventional, his huge and rough looking. Certainly no the type of man she would normally be attracted to. Jasper is a self proclaimed bachelor, he doesn't do relationships. But for some reason when Ian introduces him to Gray, he finds himself feeling something he never thought he would. Jealousy, he's jealous that Ian has Gray because he'd rather she were his.

And then Ian, gives Jasper the opportunity to have what he shouldn't. Ian will share share Gray with Jasper, but there are a set of rules he has to follow. Jasper sees this as a chance to fulfill the desire he has for Gray, a chance to have her and be done with it. But things don't go as planned, when Jasper realises he wants more, that he'd rather not share Gray with her boyfriend. That he wants more than just Gray's body.

____________________________________________

My Thoughts
____________________________________________

Ian, is a dick. He only sees Gray as a sort of trophy to wave in front of Jasper. He's basically telling Jasper. "Lookey here, look what I have. If you're nice to me, I might share."

Gray, is a passionate woman, who hasn't had the opportunity to explore her sexuality. What she likes, what she doesn't. Ian is the first man she's been with that has pushed her sexual experiences, which is probably why she's ignoring his douchebaggery until Jasper comes along. Jasper's character is intense, and aloof. But when it comes to Gray, he feels at home, he wants to be honest with her and tell her everything about himself.

While very enjoyable, because I do love to feel intensely when reading a book, The Rules Regarding Gray was incredibly angsty, well for me at least. Jaspers and Gray's characters are so guilt ridden about their feelings for each other that they are intent on making themselves miserable. They also don't see the weasel that Ian is, because he is just that good at manipulating people.

And even when they do realise how deceitful Ian is, their conscious always kicks in. I actually really loved Gray and Jasper, they were honest about their feelings even though they continuously tortured themselves because of it. The Rules Regarding Gray appealed to me because it is a forbidden romance, but not in the cheating sense because not once did I feel as if Jasper and Gray were cheating. Jasper had a difficult childhood, he was always judged because of his appearance and his background. Although Gray had a wonderful upbringing she had some moments that she wasn't very proud of. The story proves that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

So what's with the 3.75 stars? Why not just 4? Click the spoiler it's not a biggy, biggy.

Other than that a highly enjoyable read, with smoking hot sexual tension and panty melting sex scenes... and a wonderful story.

2 NOT MY CUPPA STARS ★★

"I want to do something I'm not supposed to do. I want to want something I'm not supposed to want. I want to make the mistake I'm not supposed to make."

The first thing that went through my mind after putting down the book was:

And let me tell you, I do not mean it in an entirely good way.

********

Gracelynn aka Gray is a ballerina who is at the peak of her career and has been dating her current boyfriend, Ian for 4 months. On one of her rehearsal days, Ian's introduces his best friend, Jasper to Gray and subsequently led to Ian proposing a threesome (and also hinted that it's a common thing between those two in the past). Initially refusing the idea from both Gray & Jasper, a dinner between the trio has made Gray realised that she needed to let loose a little and eventually agreed to the idea.

********

Okay so here’s the thing. Prior to picking up the book, I’ve already read enough reviews to know what this book has to offer. Yes it’s not technically a love triangle book because one of them was a complete twat & that said twat allowed the other two to play hanky-panky with each other. But then the curious side of me was dying to read this one, so I went into this with only three expectations in mind.

1. To see how much of a douchebag can Ian be.
2. To see how long it takes for Gray to dump said douchebag above.
3. To see how irresistible Jasper is.

Expectation 1

And without a doubt, the award for the King of Douchebags goes to Ian.

On a scale of 1-10 of “the worst boyfriend ever existed” meter, he’s at 100. Rating him any less would be a complete understatement. Calling him a rude, condescending prick and an arsehole is being very nice. Seriously, there were zero redeeming qualities about him. I found his little rules to be rather pointless

Expectation 2

The official breakup was done at like . I can’t for the life of me understand how it didn’t cross her mind to dump Ian sooner. I’m appalled that any woman would subject themselves to such degradation from their boyfriend .

I probably get it that the author went overboard with Ian’s douchebaggery to cure the love triangle situation and not dumping him earlier would only escalate the angst and the “forbidden love” factor in this story. But I would have appreciated it more if the author took the time to executed it better. I love me some good angst, but this one didn't appeal to me at all.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against douchebags, I just have issues with heroines who lack any sense of dignity.

However, before anyone starts throwing objects at me, I understand that this is a work of fiction. And that it's totally okay to date douchebags & not dump them at their soonest. And the fact that not everything has to make sense in a fictional world.

Lesson learnt: Suspension of disbelief will save your tortured soul in this read. Toss all logic aside and enjoy the ride.

Expectation 3:

Well I've finally made it to the redeeming part of the book for me. Lo and behold the incredible smutfest!

Brought to you by Jasper who is the complete opposite of Ian. Besides the obvious fact that he is one amazing sex on legs (and a dirty talker mmhmm), he was completely endearing and affectionate towards Gray. I won’t lie, the chemistry between Jas and Gray was undeniable and they shared some great emotional moments together.

You can’t help but root for this couple throughout the book and you probably won’t even remember that Ian doucheface still existed. And remind me, what rules again?

********

Overall, I was probably not made to love these kind of stories. Well yeah, I did enjoy the smut and some of the emotional scenes but that was just about it for me. I need my angst to be well-substantiated and for my heroine to have a better backbone. And that little juvenile part at the end? Definitely not well-played at all.

However, this is my very honest personal opinion of the book and while I didn't love it, please do not let it stop you from trying out the book :) I have a lot of buddies who really enjoyed this one and personally, you should give it a shot and you may find it to be at your liking ;)

“You wanna try her?”

And she is hooked, she being me of course. I read this line in a friends review and I was sold!

Gray short for Gracelynn never short for Grace, is a principle ballerina, and has been dating Ian for 4 months. Ian is the perfect guy on paper: great job, sexy, donates to her ballet company. In my opinion, the best thing he brings to the table is his best friend, Jasper.

Jasper is the opposite of Ian. Jasper wasn’t raised wealthy, he had an addict for a mother and an abusive father. He dropped out of high school, but ended up making something of himself. He is a successful bar owner and now wealthy based on his own merit.

Jas and Gray gradually start getting to know each other. Ian likes to think he is above everyone else, Gray and Jas begin to develop a connection: by phone and then during dinner with Ian.

“I guess real closeness comes when you find that person that can break the hold on your darkness sometimes has on you. They liberate you. I don’t know if that makes sense.”

Once Jasper is offered the lewd proposal he is offended for Gray, but still can’t stop thinking of the very tempting offer.

Gray is upset with Ian for suggesting it and is even upset with Jas for not telling her, but she can’t get why she even cares about Jas. Gray, Jas and Ian end up having their one night together, but Ian develops rules for Gray and Jas. Since they have rules regarding how much they can touch each other, they explore their options and this skirting the edge of their rules is so hot!

Ian is Gray’s boyfriend and Jas’s best friend, even if they wanted to how could they make this work?

This story is off the charts hot and yes it is a little crude, but hey I loved it all. I loved the hot almost sex, the actual sex, and the connection between Gray and Jas.

I loved how these two people who are the complete opposite of each other's type, found each other. While things start off as a desire too hot to tame. The connection turns into a beautiful love story.

I read this story in one sitting…which involved me staying up until 1:30 am. Then I went to work and recommended to one my coworkers. Afterwards I thought, Oh shit, this might be too much for her. I look to my bestie, who sits beside me, and I said "Oh fuck, that book has threeways and a little sodomy” (eek face) My bestie says, "you should warn her, but tell me again, what’s it called?” So long story short that was Tuesday morning, both have finished and loved it.

Moral of the story: if you are okay with hot threeways, a little ass play, and great romantic connection this is the book for you

RULES! Rules are something that guides our lives and sets boundaries for what is appropriate and what is not. But what happens when your best friend offers his girlfriend to you?

“You wanna try her?”

How do you answer that question without making things complicated? In the past Ian and Jas have shared girls but this one is different. She is Ian’s girlfriend and she's unlike the other girls they've shared. Gracelynn “Gray” is sweet and wholesome. Not wanting to disrespect her by doing lewd things to her with his best friend, Jas agonizes over his feelings about Gray and the offer.

Where Ian is arrogant and self-centered … Jas is kind and thoughtful. These polar opposite friends have been friends since childhood. Now as adults their lives are extremely different... Ian is a suit and tie guy while Jas is jeans and t-shirts.

Ballet is what drives Gray. Her whole life revolves around her ballet career. The dedication she has for her art is a testament to the type of person she has become.

description

When the relationship between her and Jas goes from being simple to complicated, things begin to spiral downward. Lines become blurred the more time Jas and Gray spend together. Being busy all the time and worrying only about himself Ian opens the door for Jas to be there for Gray. Jas and Gray's relationship develops into a deep friendship.

Elizabeth Finn has created a story about finding a love that is worth fighting for. Finding someone who is worthy of your love and admiration. And as Gray said, "Everyone deserves happiness.”

"So how do you see this thing playing out?"

description

This was one angsty, hot, entertaining read that held my attention, made me blush and had my jaw hitting the floor.

Gray (short for GraceLynn) is a ballet dancer dating an accomplished businessman named Ian. Ian is best friends with Jasper and he invites him to the ballet to check out his girlfriend and then he drops the bomb…

”Want to try her?”

Well, the story takes one crazy ride from this point. Gray has dedicated so much of her life to her dance career and just wants more.

“I guess… I want to do something I’m not supposed to do. I want to want something I’m not supposed to want. I want to make the mistake I’m not supposed to make.”

The three do in fact get together and like the title states Ian sets up some rules for Jas’ involvement with his girl. Gray and Jas’ friendship/attraction/bond develops...

”I like you more than him.”

“I like you more than him too,” he whispered. “And it is exceptionally confusing.”

Jasper was one HOT, dirty talking, broken Samoan.

description

"You can’t imagine how much I want your pussy. I want it wet for me. I want to feel it against me, around me, squeezing me, and suffocating the hell out of my cock.”

description

Jas does have family troubles, self-worth issues and is truly taken with Gray both sexually and emotionally.

”He wanted more than her body. He wanted that part of her that seemed to lock onto him whenever they were around one another.

This is a love triangle written in a way that a reader will despise one of the guys. Although I think a confession made later in the story was a lie and he was saving face, still the best and only man for Gray gets the girl.

"She's so special I rewrote my entire existence for her."

My only issue was the word ‘hummed’ was used entirely too much but other than that, it was a good crazy time.

“Someone gave you the chance to experience something new. You took it. You chose adventure over monotony. We make these decisions sometimes.”

This is the story of Gray, a ballerina who's in a relationship with Ian for four months. Jasper is Ian's old best friend and when he gets to meet Gray, Ian drops the bomb..

“You wanna try her?”

They all talk about it and finally they agree to do this three-way-relationship, but with certain rules, that Ian had set beforehand. The thing is, Ian seems indifferent, so he lets them play alone without him and at the same time Jasper comes close with Gray, while Ian is an ignorant douchebag.

They come close after specific events that take place and we can see their struggle, as they try to stick to the rules, trying to figure out what to do with this insane situation. Ian doesn't seem like a good boyfriend material, but on the other hand Jasper isn't the relationship type of guy either.

“Heartbreak is part of life.
Don’t be afraid of it,
because it can kick you in the ass
whether you fear it or embrace it.”

I'm not sure how to rate this one. When I heard the blurb, I have to admit that I got excited. But, while reading this, there were many eye-roll moments and I got bored. I just wanted this to end and that's something that rarely happens to me :/

I really wished I had liked this one, but we can't love everything, right? Maybe this is a case of "This is not you, it's me". I liked the side characters, like G and Anna. And I also enjoyed the last 10% of the book. I wish Gray had sort things out earlier in the book. I believe if she had acted differently, there wouldn't be so much drama that could be escaped. Overall, it was a 'meh' read for me.

Last, but not least, I wish authors used some sense in their books. Honestly, Gray having unprotected sex with Jasper? The guy wasn't even her boyfriend! They weren't dating exclusively. He could be fucking others at the same time! He had a bar and she knew that he and Ian were having threesomes with other women before her..Where's the logic in that? It's not just having a baby, it's also getting HIV and other STDs. This is something that makes me VERY.ANGRY.

Review
So again, I’m fangirling with Elizabeth Finn and her newest book which will be released shortly.  When I first read the blurb, I was a bit hesitant to agree to read this because it sounded like a triangle along with cheating.  Those types of books have a tendency to turn me off, and I was worried I would have to give this a bad rating. If you know me well, you also know that writing a bad review gives me anxiety attacks and multiply that by 100 because this is Elizabeth…my sweet, lovable author.  It would KILL me to have to give her a negative review.

THANK GOD…..the blurb left out a very important fact that I can’t reveal here but it made the story work in the right way….the triangle worked – the cheating worked – it just all fell together and worked like an intricate set of motors and gears – seamless.

Have I mentioned that Ms. Finn knows how to put two words together perfectly?  She has this ability to transport the reader right into the scene with her display of describing the environment, the emotions, and the overall gist of the chapter.  Oh, and I can’t forget about the sex scenes….holy shit…these blew me away – Ms. Finn added the right amount of nasty to sensual that equaled out to STEAMY!!

Now, to explain why I took away a ½ of a star….it had to do with toward the end and what Gracelynn and Jasper did that seemed a bit childish and immature.

Re-Cap
There really isn’t much I can write about the re-cap without giving the story away.  Gracelynn is a ballerina who is dating Ian.  Ian on the outside is suave but underneath he is one big conniving manipulator who degrades Gray and is getting bored of their relationship.

That which doesn’t kill us makes us weaker,
but it is the overcoming weakness that shows our true strength.
Weakness is a given.
It’s just what we do with it that truly makes us shine.

In comes Jasper, best friends with Ian, to be used as a decoy by Ian for Gray.  Ian proposes to share Gray with Jasper (even though she isn’t his normal type) but there are rules which must be followed.  Very specific rules.  The more Jasper and Gray spend together, the more they both realize how perfect they are for each other and a deeper relationship starts to form.

But what do they do now?  Do they continue to follow the rules?  Does Gray end the relationship with Ian?  And where is Ian when Gray needs him the most?

Wrap-Up
I think this is where I am going to have to leave you hanging…this book is definitely a book of “feels” and you won’t be disappointed.

I’ll end with the original post I left as soon as I finished this book.

My heart is light...my heart is happy

My loins are tight and feeling a bit sappy

Elizabeth Finn does it again and deserves a clappy
 (not the STD kind)

Yeah, I never admitted to being a poet....bwahahahahaa

This book is about complicated relationships even though it tries to be totally casual. Gray wants something more out of her relationship with Ian but she doesn't know what. Ian just wants more...anything more and Jasper only thinks he wants casual. Like I said...complicated. But let me explain.

Gracelynn (or Gray-short-for-Gracelynn-but-never-Grace) is a ballerina and has wanted to be one almost her whole life. Meaning...she's given up about everything else and now she needs more. We don't get too much about her relationship with Ian before but we do know that she finds the things he does exciting. And when the big question comes up, she can hardly say no.

description

Jasper (aka Jas) and Ian have been best friends for years. Ian's helped him through some rough times but we don't get to see that Ian. And Jasper and Ian have also had their share of wild times, apart and together. But Jasper's a better person now...he just has to accept that.

Ian, Ian, Ian...he's certainly a charmer but who knows why he does the things he does? We don't get to know that Ian and it was hard because his was the only POV we didn't get.

So let me address the two main issues...love triangle and cheating: not really and "it's complicated". Plain and simple...sort of. No cheating between the threesome because Ian is the one who wants to share Gray and gives his permission but complicated because of other things. And love triangle...well, that's a little more complicated...and spoilerish but really it boils down to some good ol' male competitiveness.

One of the best parts is the steam...and I'm not talking about the threesome, which I did find lacking. But I think it's really hot because some things are forbidden but greatly desired so it really ramps things up.

description

However, I just gotta mention all the "humming" going on that was mainly done by Jas but all together totals forty-seven times and that's not counting all the groaning (33) and moaning (39). And don't even get me started on the dripping and the hemorrhaging...yes, hemorrhaging!!! I know, I know, I'm being picky but come on, humming is just weird. But dancing? That was a-mazing!!

And then my favorite part is the love, the drama and the angst. EF did a good job mixing it all up with guilt, lies and feelings of inadequacy. Seeing if two people can make something out of this mess was very intriguing.

Can't leave out mentioning Gray's best friend, Anna. She was a wonderful and I loved how she gave Ian and Jasper hell. She really pulled no punches! And yay for being sleuthy!

There's a little plot at the end that was awkward...I think something better could've been done. But I guess there was no going back at that point.

The ending...and epilogue was wonderful. I was happy with the way things worked out. Definitely a story I would recommend!

This book was definitely NOT about a love triangle at all.
The synopsis may lead you to believe that it is, but once you meet the main characters, you'll realize it's simply about two people missing that special someone in their lives that makes them feel complete.

Gray is a ballerina for the Ballet Austin Company. Ballet has been her whole world since she was a young girl. Gray missed out on many things growing up, because of her dedication to her dancing. She has been dating Ian for the past few months. He's a gorgeous businessman who beings some excitement to her life.

Ian introduces Gray to his childhood friend Jasper. Jas is exotically gorgeous and has a bad boy image about himself. He's got a troubled past and has never had a long term relationship with a woman. Ian and Jas have shared many women in the past sexually. Ian feels his relationship with Gray is getting a bit dull and suggests that they have a threesome. Gray is shocked and appalled at first, and Jas actually is intrigued but at the same time feeling a bit uncomfortable about the situation. There's something about Gray that is drawing him to her and he doesn't see her as a plaything like the women he and Ian have shared in the past.

Gray changes her mind after a little time has passed. She definitely feels a connection with Jas and thinks maybe she needs to try something new and thrilling.

I have to say if I were Gray, I'd want a shot at Jas but I would have kicked Ian to the curb almost as soon as I met Jas. Ian was a complete DOUCHE NOZZLE!! I don't understand why she stayed in a relationship so long with him and why Jas felt like he owed him any loyalty whatsoever.

The first time the three of them have sex, Ian has rules for Jas to follow when it concerns where and how he can touch Gray. I really felt bad for her because that HAD to hurt!! I can't even imagine how painful that was!!

As Jas and Gray start spending time together, they develop deep feelings and the lines of friendship and loyalty begin to blur. Honestly, like I said, Ian didn't deserve any of their concern or loyalty. Finally when the rules are thrown out the window, the sex gets even more STEAMY! This story had some of the most incredibly HOT sex scenes ever and Jas definitely has very little inhibitions!!!

 photo bea6195e5bf132a13a60477f6432cb17_zps20f8366f.jpg

Not only was Jas one hell of a sexual being, but he had an incredible tenderness to him. For a man who was only ever shown love from his grandma his whole life, he had so much love inside of him to give to the woman who captured his heart.

If you're in the mood for a steamy read, I highly recommend this one.
Do not be fooled by the synopsis because it truly wasn't a love triangle. You'll never once feel bad for Ian. I kind of wish it was explained why he was such a douche. I guess some people are just born that way!! LOL

Grace aka Gray is dating Ian. But when Ian suggest a threesome with his best friend Jasper, can Jasper and Gray stick to his rules?

I liked the overall idea behind the story and I'm glad that the writing had more dialogue than her previous works. Ian was a I found there was just a few too many sex scenes. I actually skimmed some.

In the end I did believe in the couple's connection. I love EF books and I love steamy books but I guess my mood wasn't quite there for this one. But it was still an OK decent read.

What you see here is me after reading the blurb:

Gray, a ballerina, who agrees to be shared by her boyfriend Ian and his best friend Jasper. Also the blurb makes sure that they wont have a 3-way-romance relationship.

I wondered a few things before starting this book.
First of all: Will I survive this? The answer is: Yes, obviously.

I wondered if the love-triangle will bother me. My answer after reading:

Because it wasn't really one. Most of the time The entire book I wanted Ian to

Unlike Jasper, who I wanted to

What about the cheating? Will that bother me?

Its not cheating for me when her douchebag boyfriend allows it. So, Your loss Ian.

Will I love Jasper? My final answer is:

He was sex on legs

but also pretty swoon-worthy

Of course this book wasn't perfect.
The fact that Gray needed a little too long to break up with Ian bothered me.
They weren't in a serious relationship anyway. But I still wanted the official break up sooner. The revenge part in the end felt a little meh to me. It didn't ruin for me the book but wasn't necessary either. Overall I enjoyed it a LOT.

Gray has a boyfriend named Ian. They've been in a relationship for 4 months. Ian works in the corporate world, and is a straight laced, successful suit wearing kind of guy, but at the same time there is something about him that excites Gray. He doesn't play by the rules, & Gray thinks he helps her step out of the box a little.

Gray is a relationship kind of girl always living an unfulfilling life. She feels she's missed out on adventures & life while devoting all her time to her ballet career.

One evening Ian brings his best friend Jasper Drees aka Jas with him to watch Gray dance. Ian & Jas grew up together in San Diego. Jas owns a bar called Graystone, & is a bachelor, who doesn't do relationships. Gray meets Jas and is instantly attracted to him. He is dark, mysterious, & intriguing. He is the opposite of what she would normally be attracted to with his long hair & bad boy looks. She finds him charming & extremely hot. She tries to hide her reaction to him, but Ian notices.

Gray see's Jas a few more times while with Ian & finds him easy to talk to. Even though he's blunt, they really get along great. One evening her boyfriend offers her the forbidden, & something she views as wrong. Turns out these friends are into sharing. Gray initially refuses, & is very offended & confused by Ian's proposition. After she thinks it over she decides she has never been reckless a day in her life, & she decides to take a walk on the wild side & give in to her desires! ;))

As Gray moves forward being involved with Ian & Jas she explores her sexuality, & begins to have stronger feelings for one of the men. One of them makes her feel alive & cherished & she falls in love. She shares an intimacy like nothing she's ever experienced. One man is infatuated with Gray, & fights to have her for himself. This man is kind, thoughtful & swoon worthy, while the other is a huge jerk! As Gray decides she can't lose one of these men we get a fabulous love story & an amazing epilogue! :D

Sometimes it takes being with the wrong person to find the right one…

Gray is a seasoned Ballerina who is currently the principal in her dance company. Her life has always been about dancing, so you can say that she's missed out in a lot of things in life. She's dating a handsome business man, who she doesn't have a lot in common with, other that great sex. Gray is too busy or too scared to notice about all the things missing in her life, until one day her boyfriend invites his best friend to one of her dance rehearsals and after one look at this exotic estranger her life will get very complicated. Ian and Jasper are complete opposites but they have been best friends since childhood. Ian is your typical Wall Street guy, all american looks, successful and cocky; Jasper is exotic and dangerous looking, he's had to fight hard to earn every single thing in his life. These two friends are used to sharing everything, including their women, so when Ian starts to feel like his relationship with Gray is getting a little boring and predictable he propositions her to have a threesome with Jasper. At first she's completely insulted by her boyfriend's suggestion, but she can't deny that she's attracted to the mysterious Jasper and she wants to experience something out of character, for once in her life, so she accepts. Ian is the one calling the shots, and he establish some ground rules for everyone to follow, but the thing about rules is that, they are meant to be broken...

I was a little nervous before starting this book because I'm not one to enjoy love triangles, but if thats also your concern, do not fear, because even though theres three characters involve, there's no love triangle, at least it didn't feel like one to me. I was very impressed by this author's writing style, it was completely captivating and highly erotic, I will definitely be checking out more of her books. Fantastic read, I highly recommend this book, two thumbs up!!!!

Gray is a principal ballerina at the peak of her career, she is dating Ian who is a complete douche and treats people quite poorly. However, she finds him exciting because her whole life has been about dancing and she wants to start living out of her comfort zone.

When Ian suggest a threesome with his best friend Jasper, Gray is horrified but soon comes round when she meets Jas and find herself attracted to him on both a physical and emotional level.

I don't know what it was that I didn't love, but I didn't really feel much whilst reading this book. Ian was an idiot from the very beginning so the budding relationship between Gray and Jasper didn't feel very forbidden to me. I also thought the rules were completely unreasonable and wondered why Gray didn't feel like she had any say in the matter.

There was a scene at the end which bothered me and I felt it completely ruined the book - Gray and Jasper really lowered themselves which was ironic because throughout the book Gray taught Jasper that he was a good person who deserves to be loved and was a better man than Ian.

I enjoyed reading the growing relationship between them and there was some great steamy scenes but I am rating it a 3 because it was just an OK read for me.

3.5 Stars!!

An Angst filled sexy story with a cast of characters I sometimes didn't know whether to slap or kiss at any given moment..

and plenty of times where alcohol was necessary... ;)

OK.. so I'm not a big fan of triangles and I know plenty of you are not either! So let me start of saying.. don't let your fear of triangles scare you off from this book.. one of the pieces in this triangle is a total douche. Said douche goes by the name of Ian. But hence forward...he will just be known as the douche.. kay? The fact that Ian was such a douche and a few other things.. really made this not so triangleish.. ( I know that's not a word..but work with me here)

So the douche is dating Gray.. what on earth Gray see's in the douche I just don't know. She is a Principal Ballerina in Austin, TX. She's sweet, witty, beautiful.. she has a graceful dancers body. But the douche pretty much insults her about how small her tits are or out womanly curvaceous she is. He's a business type guy and he is just full of himself for really no reason. Gray could do much better. MUCH

Gray

And by better.. I mean Jasper. Jasper has been the douche's friend for many years.. Jasper has some mixed Samoan blood in him so as a kid, the neighborhood looked down on him. The fact that is dad was and epic douche himself, helped cement him further in the "outcast" dept..

One day, the douche decides to bring Jasper to meet his girlfriend.. he and Gray have been together about 4 months. He looks at her as kind of a trophy.. He takes Jasper to her dance co and as Jasper watches her dance from afar.. he doesn't see anything to striking about her. Until she gets up close. The spark is there between them immediately. You could feel in sizzle. Once Gray gets back to dancing.. the douche its Jasper with a suggestion... asking Jasper if he wants to try her out. Jasper is floored.. sure, he and Ian have shared girls in the past but it was always a girl neither had a relationship with.. just some chic they would bang together. Jasper gives it a big fat no. Later, the douche decides to bring it up to Ian again.. by bringing the suggestion up to Gray in front of him! To say that Gray was totally caught off guard is an understatement ..

OK.. so I don't want to spoil to much and go into great detail about what happens next.. but Gray does end up thinking about it and eventually she goes thought with it an the 3 of them have a little 3 way that involves sucking, anal, and straight up. It was pretty hot.. but Ian kind of ruined it. could have been hotter if Ian wasn't such a douche canoe.

ANYWAY.... things happen.. Gray and Jasper get closer and there feelngs grow stronger. They are there for each other and the closer they get, the guiltier they feel. Why they did feel any guilt at all is beyond me.. but they did. And they shouldn't have. Because in case you don't understand.. Ian is a douche. And he's not the all " sexy, jerk of my dreams" kind of douche. He's straight up kick a fucker in his nuts kind of douchey. The absence of Ian would have made this easily a 4 star book.. but parts of the story were a little hard for me to connect with.. him being such a shithead. But Jasper.. Jasper made things better..

Elizabeth Finn never fails to write a story that sucks you in.. and I was sucked in to this one.. and I really enjoyed Gray and Jasper. It was Ian that put a bit of a damper on this story for me... He was such a completely unlikeable character.. but, aside from douchey Ian, the story was good, the chemistry between Jas and Gray was electric and the angst.. OMG the angst at times had me white knuckling my Kindle!

So like I said in the beginning.. don't let the fact that this involves a bit of a triangle deter you at all! I was able to over look all that once I got to know all the characters. And the journey I went through watching Gray and Jasper fall for each other was what put a smile on my face.

Gracelynn (Gray) has had one focus her entire life. Ballet. The discipline needed to succeed ensured that she didn’t live an adventurous life. But all of that is about to change when her boyfriend, Ian invites his best friend Jasper into their bed. For Gray, the attraction to Jasper isn’t really instant, but there is something about him that has captured her attention and although her first instinct is to say no, she wants to experience this. Him.

Jasper hasn’t had an easy life. He grew up with his Grandmother after being abandoned by his parents. He never thought he’d want a girl like Gray, but he can’t seem to stop thinking about her. Although his first instinct is to say no, part of him wants her so badly that he’d do anything just to get a taste. Even if that means following the rules that Ian puts in place.

When Ian invites Jasper into their bed and he sets the rules, no one imagined that the desire for more would be so strong. But for Gray and Jasper, fighting their attraction and trying to play by the rules seems impossible. The more Jasper gets to know Gray, the more he realizes that Ian doesn’t deserve to have her and he realizes just how much he wants her for himself.

The Rules Regarding Gray was my first read from Elizabeth Finn. I saw a few friends mention this title and read the blurb for the book and thought... Three way relationships? Yes please. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get just a hot ménage read or something that morphed into a love triangle... so this was pretty much a going in blind, sort of thing.

I enjoyed Gray. I think she was just the right amount of innocent and sensual. Her reluctance at first made her character endearing coupled with the way her and Jasper interacted (friend-wise), I instantly liked her. I did find fault with her judgment when it came to Ian, but understood her reluctance given what she imagined she might lose.

Let me just get Ian out of the way. Douche. Asshole. Fucking prick. Pretty much sums him up. I didn’t like him at any point of this story. In fact the moment he opened his mouth, I hated him.

Now on to the star of the show. Jasper. Holy shit. Loved him. Like a lot. In a sort of unhealthy, cause he’s not really real sort of way. Super sexy & sensual, aggressive & demanding, but so broken. Pure damaged goods with one helluva cock between his legs. Toss in the dirty talk and all was right in the world. Birds were singing, the sun was shining and this reader was picking out monogramed towel sets.

I loved the dynamic of this story. I loved that it didn’t quite fit into a particular category. Love triangle? Not really, Ménage romance? Er-No, sort of. I went in with one idea planted in my head as to what to expect and came out with something completely different.

Jasper and Gray were just so damn good together. He was swoony perfection all wrapped up in a hard body. A little bit of the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, but with Gray he treated her like she was precious to him.

I think this is a story that most would enjoy. Some may find Gray lacking in a sense, especially when it comes to her actions about Ian and their relationship... but I think the author did a great job of explaining that as the story developed. I’d have to say this is one that should be read.

Another great angsty read from Elizabeth Finn. She never fails to get the heart racing with smoldering hot sex scenes, stomach clenching, tears shedding from the dramatic stories she portrays. She's an auto-buy and I've yet to be disappointed in her work. But I digress...

Gray is a ballerina dating a successful, clean-cut CFO Ian when she meets his best friend Jasper. Jasper is polar opposite Ian...long hair-a rough around the edges bar owner. He's had a shit childhood, emotional scars, and the eternal bachelor. But something clicks between these two. From the time she picks up Ian's phone and they chat about anything and everything. She's not his "type" at all but he's attracted to her sweet innocence. She's entirely too good for Ian.

When Ian proposes a ménage a trios between them, they both initially scoff at the idea. But time passes, their friendship and chemistry builds, Gray begins to rethink it. She knows it's a mistake to do it but, for once, she's going to take a chance. They all agree...but with Ian's strict rules regarding Gray.

I have to say, I HATED Ian. The man is the definition of an arrogant asshole. God, I loathed him.

Manipulative, conniving, arrogant prick. Yup, I'm still on Ian.

Jas, on the other hand, was FUCKHOT. Ms. Finn does not fail to give her readers a dirty talking, sometimes crude, alpha male specimen. Holy cow, the things he'd say...things he wanted to do, and DID to Gray. Wow. I'll take a tall glass of him...

She seriously writes some of the BEST sex scenes. Sizzling. When you read hundreds of books a year, they tend to all blend together, but her scenes are set apart from most others in the erotica genre.

There was one point in the book I wanted to throw my kindle. I thought it was needless drama but it ended up being a big focus to the story so I guess I'm over it. But at the time...grr.

So, if you're looking for a story filled with a hero you'll love, a heroine that's tough yet sweet, and a third shoe you want to smash like a bug, this book is for you. With Ms Finn, it's a rocky emotional ride, but she always leaves her reader with a heartwarming HEA. And I thank her for that...

Gray-short for Gracelynn-but never Grace is a twenty something year old ballerina who lives in Austin, TX.

Her boyfriend Ian has in the past shared women with his best friend Jasper. He offers this to Gray and She decides to be adventurous and take him up on the offer.

And boy does she enjoy it...

The problem starts when Gray begins falling for Jasper.

Doesn't help that Ian is a douchebag.

But Jasper doesn't want to hurt his friend...Ian and him have been friends since they were kids.

The truth is i love Elizabeth Finn! Her books are amazing and she has a distinguish way of writing i always enjoy. Maybe i was a little hesitant with this book due to the theme, threesomes are not my thing, but even so, she made me love this story.

Gray is a beautiful ballerina, in a relationship with Ian -i will bash him in a while- and she decides after her boyfriend's crude propositions to try something different with his best friend Jasper.

Oh Jas! The arousingly honest, scary and mysterious best friend! I liked him right away and his chemistry with Gray was instantaneous. Their escapades are extemely hot, so hot you need to stop reading for a while and take a few cleansing breaths, before continuing with the turbulent story.

As for Ian, he is an unbelievably huge ass. At first i thought he was an interesting character but after a while it's plainly visible what a vile personality he has.

The whole book is beautifully written, filled with romance, passion, sexual tension and hidden feelings.. I loved it!!!

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- Anna was an amazing friend.
- I loved his grandma.
- Mainly Double Pov.
- The arc was very intersting.
- I have to admite the threesome was well executed..

- The sex was out of charts hot.
- Very real and emotional.

ARC provided by the author in exchange of an honest review. Thank you!

3...Triangles

I just didn't love this like a lot of my friends did. I don't know if was because of the hype of it being all over my GR news feed or if my expectations were simply too high, but I just thought this was kind of a middle of the road read...meaning I liked it well enough, but I probably won't be thinking about it tomorrow.

I think a lot of it had to do with the love triangle aspect. I loathe love triangles. LOATHE them; but, I read in some reviews that this was not a true "triangle."

description

While I grant that this story may not have included a "classic" love triangle, you still have one girl...and two guys.

So while it may not be a right triangle, story I dub thee "Isosceles."

description

I found myself getting frustrated with Gray and her lack of backbone. .

Also, I love me some sex, but there was so much in this that I actually found myself skimming through some of the scenes toward the end.

Otherwise, the ending was cute. I liked the pool scene.

Really not what I expected in a very good surprise kind of way! Gray is a ballerina dancer that didn’t date much because of her schedule and drive to be the best. She starts dating Ian, but when she’s introduced to his best friend Jas, the sparks fly and Ian offers her a deal. The spicy scenes were hot and there were quite a few, which I expected. I didn’t expect the plot to be so sussed out and my emotions to be flopped this way and that. There is a definite front runner to this triangle and it’s apparent quickly who has her needs in mind, but it was a fun ride to the HEA.
