Hunter

Three years ago I thought my world had completely fallen apart. I’ve been living day to day for my daughter, never really focusing on myself.

The day that I walked into that room and saw Kali was the day my life changed. She completely tipped my world upside down and I’m just not sure if my heart can take it.

She was unexpected and it scared the living daylights out of me.

Kali

I thought I had gotten out.

I was wrong.

When he came for me i thought my life was over. I never considered him coming back would change my life forever. I never dreamed what he did to me would lead me towards a man who would cherish and love me for me.

When you think your life is over and you don’t see a future, all you can do is live day by day, only to hope that one day the unexpected will come and make it all right.

Hunter was my unexpected.

Can Hunter and Kali push forward after their pasts have consumed them for so long?

Or will the unexpected be too much for them to bare?

Will they get their Unexpected Forever?

This book has completely left we with a smile on my face...I loved this feel good second chance romance. I love the characters. The Kaydee's writing was amazing.

Can Kali and Hunter not be the most amazing couple ever..I loved loved loved them...OMG...Alyssa was absolutely adorable. Her character could not have been better.

I loved watching these two come from pain full past and lean on each other to heal...I loved how the entire family supported and stood by this couple... Love the sense of family in this book.. It was nice to read a book where the family is one united front.

"Just because you've both had a horrible past doesn't mean your future can not be amazing."

This book is definitely a little jewel..SO good, so heart warming, and I am in love with this book.

Can't wait for the next book.

A really sweet romance about love finding two lost souls. The H is raising his daughter after the love of his life died during childbirth. The h is recovering both mentally and physically from a very abusive marriage. While the h finds solace in her growing attraction to the H, unfortunately the H is having a very hard time not feeling disloyal to his now dead wife and it really is his struggle that is the major obstacle to the H/h finding happiness. A very nice read, cute kid and caring friends and family.

If you're looking for a good story about two people having a second chance at finding love, this is it! I just finished reading Hunter and Kal's story and I really enjoyed it. I loved Hunter and the relationship he has with his daughter. I was already in tears just reading the prologue and seeing what Hunter went through. Now it has been 3 years and he is celebrating his daughters 3rd birthday and the 3 year anniversary of his wife's death. Hunter is still in love with his wife and is not ready to move on. He has always been in love with Jana and never thought he would be without her. The last thing he expected was to meet someone that would change his life forever on the same day he lost his wife.

When Kali first met her husband she thought she would be in love with him forever. Then little by little he starts to change and becomes abusive. When Kali decides enough is enough, she ask her family to help her pack up her stuff so that she can leave her husband while he is away. What she didn't plan for was that he would come and find her to show her that she wasn't getting out without a fight. The last thing she expected was that her life would forever be changed when she wakes up in a hospital while hearing the sweetest voice.

Hunter and Kali meet under unexpected circumstances. Right away they have a connection that no one understands and did not see coming. What I liked about them was that even though they had a strong connection right from the beginning, their relationship starts as a friendship. I often read books where the two main character's intimate relationship starts just a few minutes after meeting each other and they are instantly in love. I understand at times there is a strong connection between two people and that they have an attraction to each other, but to be in love after just meeting them 5 minutes ago is a bit much for me! LOL. However, I did love that that was not the case in this story. Hunter is there for Kali as she is getting better and is moving on from her past. Their friendship is sweet and I loved that Kali was open minded and created a friendship with Alyssa, Hunters daughter. As they grew closer as friends and they both start to realize they want more then friendship, Hunter starts to struggle knowing he will have to get over his late wife, Jana. To be honest, I was struggling too! I just felt so sad for him with all the emotions he was going through about letting go and moving on. At times the way he described how he felt about Kali made me feel like he didn't have that connection with his wife. I know he probably did, but during those moments, I was struggling for him to move on as well! After awhile I got over myself and I did like the relationship between Hunter and Kali. I know that they were good for each other and were what they both needed to move on and have the happily ever after life they both deserved...

"I love you, Kali, with all my heart and all my being. If I never would've met you, I'd still be wondering around lost in this world."

"I love you too, Hunter. You saved me from everything, even myself."

I will say that I am looking forward to reading more from Kaydee Maverick and I am hoping to see a book about Hunter's brother and his wife. I would also love a book about Kali's best friend Dylan!! He seems like he would have a good story since he is in the military and I love military romances!

OMG...what grade is the author in? No, seriously...this read like a 7th graders' diary. Overall, this book was HORRIBLE! Where oh where to begin with all of the things wrong with this hot mess:
--Juvenile writing akin to a story submitted by someone in junior high. Storyline could have been decent had the general writing style not been so crappy
--Very little physical description of characters and when there was some description, IT'S AT 70%!!!
--The mixture of verb tenses in one sentence..GAHH! Either write in the past or the present but for goodness sake...DON'T MIX VERB TENSES IN THE SAME SENTENCE!!
--No background on where the characters lived--again, mentioned almost a third or more into the darn book
--HORRIFIC editing with grammatical errors for DAYS
--Hunter went back and forth more than a tennis ball at Wimbledon with his "come hither, go away" feelings for Kali
--Total overuse of "Hunt" and "Kal"
--Could not keep up with all of the parents' names, totally confusing.
--Pretty sure someone who suffered from broken ribs would not have enjoyed a 3 year old jumping on them as much as Alyssa did.
--What was up with all of the cursing in front of Alyssa?
--Details that didn't match such as Hunter and Heath being referred to initially as cops, then detectives, and then police officers. Ok, really?? And how realistic would it be for them to have that much time off? Also, why wasn't Kali's father charged with murder? Or at least brought to the police station for questioning? And, how was it that the dance studio was going to be opening "in a few weeks" on one page and then a few paragraphs later, it was opening the next day?
--The phrase is "look over AT" not "look over to"...grrr!!
--Where does not equal were; too differs from to; routed and rooted are not synonymous; AND FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY....THE CAR IS AN INFINITY NOT AN INFINITE!!

I could go on for days. I just wish I could get the time back that I spent reading this piece of crap.

After reading the blurb to an Unexpected Forever I was instantly hooked. The teasers alone that I have seen on Facebook had me intrigued. When Kaydee messaged my blog asking if I would like to review it I jumped on the chance to read it.

I was immediately pulled in the story from the very beginning. My heart broke for Hunter. I want to sink down to my knees while he cried on the floor and hold him until his pain went away. How would you feel if the only person you ever loved was yanked from you in the blink of an eye? Completely and totally decimated. Hunter did what he had to do and lived his life for his daughter Alyssa (don’t even get me started on Alyssa. She was absolutely adorable.).

With the help of his brother and his fiance Peyton he managed to move forward in his life, never forgetting his wife. Until one day one horrible even brought Peyton’s friend Kali into his life. Her past hadn’t been pleasant. In fact in was utter hell. The circumstance that brought her into Hunter’s life broke my heart.

From the start the connection and sparks between Hunter and Kali was intense but they both fought their attraction, neither thinking they were ready to even think about being in a relationship again. It seemed they were both in such denial that they were blind to their own feelings but everyone else seen them quite clear.

Hunter’s inner struggles to let go of his dead wife broke my heart. I can imagine how hard it would be to lose a significant other. Kali had her own struggles. She had to fight the memories of her abusive husband.

Their story is one of patience, kindness, strength and second chance loves. In the end an Unexpected Forever will make you sad, make you smile and give you hope that even if your previous relationships ended badly you can still find your happily ever after.

An Unexpected Forever is the first book in the series. It is one of those books that will have you hooked right from the beginning. One minute you will be crying and feeling Kali and Hunter's pain and the next minute you will be laughing. Kali is a sweet girl who ends up having feelings for a guy who starts out nice but then ends up turning into quite the prick. She had finally thought that she had gotten away from her abusive man only to find out that he had found her. She thought that her life was over but fortunately she survived. Now she just wants to move on from the horror of it all and live her life. In comes Hunter who she has feelings for but she does not want to push him as he has had problems in his life as well.

Hunter has tragically lost his wife but he has not had the proper amount of time to grieve for her because he has had a child to raise. He is not at all ready to date or even consider getting into another relationship but he finds that that all changes when he meets Kali who has unexpectedly caused to him to open up his heart yet again. He wants to help and protect kali and to help her to move on from her tragic past but he yet he finds her doing the same for him. Neither of them wants to face their feelings for each other.

I personally, fell in absolute love with Kali and Hunter as they are both such loving individuals. At first for me it hooked me but then it got a little slow going. I also felt like maybe it was a predictable story line for me. There needed to be a twist or two in there. However I would still give this book five stars!!! It is a must read.

I received this book as a gift from the author in exchange for an honest review…

I fell in love with the characters from the beginning. All the emotions are there, sorrow, love, anger, and happiness. Kaydee did an amazing job of pulling on my heart strings and leave me wanting more.
Hunter is a kind, good hearted man, and an amazing father who lost the love of his life on what should’ve been one of the happiest days of their lives. If it hadn’t been for his brother, Heath and his fiancé Peyton he wouldn’t have survived the hand he was dealt.

Kali’s life didn’t turn out as she had planned it at all. The man who was supposed to love and protect her was her greatest fear. When she took the step to get away and begin a new life she lived through another nightmare. Kali is brought solace by a sweet little motherless child and her family and best friend Peyton by her side.
Hunter and Kali both know there is something more between them than just friendship, they both feel more, but are too afraid to move forward from their past.
Is it possible for these two to find their forever with each other or will they hold on to their fears?

Ughh. I wanted to love this book so badly. In fact, it has so many things that I usually do love. I mean, hello!! Second chance romances are my favorites. BUT... The angsty, dramatic bullshit in this book was ridiculous. Kali and Hunter both acted like teenagers with their 'I don't know what to do, does he/she like me,' BS! If either of them would have simply opened their mouth and communicated their feelings with each other, this would have been much more enjoyable.

I usually hate bringing up editing errors, but this book was filled with them. Also, the overuse of abbreviated names (Kal, Hunt, Pey, Dyl, etc.) drove me nuts! I usually find it sweet, but with EVERY SINGLE character's name it was overkill. I know I'm just being nitpicky now.

The last 25% of the book was great. Kali and Hunter finally gave into their ridiculously intense sexual chemistry. And it had a sweet happy ending. Overall, the story itself was good, but my issues lie with the writing as it just didn't do it for me. This is the author's first novel and I see great potential in her future books! Hopefully we'll see a book about Heath and Peyton's story.

I have just a couple words for this book....FREAKING OUTSTANDING!!! I immediately fell in love with these characters and their stories. The author did an amazing job giving us love, sorrow, and a whole slew of emotions to go with it. Kali and Hunter are two characters that absolutely deserve nothing but happiness and I was so happy to have the opportunity to go on their journey with them. Throw in a few secondary characters that includes Alyssa, Hunter's charming and beautiful 3 year old daughter and I was hooked. I can not wait to find out what is next on this author's list because I really believe anything she puts out will be equally amazing. I am a forever fan Ms. Mavericks!! I sat down with this gem and finished it in one setting. I could not put it down until I reached "the end." This is one story you do not want to miss!! This earns every bit 5+++ AMAZEBALLS stars from me!! A copy was gifted in exchange of an honest review.

This was a really sweet story about second chances. I enjoyed how Hunter and Kali took things slow even with the instant connection. I loved Hunter, Heath, and Peyton's bond. Alyssa definitely stole the show, how adorable was she! I really hope that Heath and Peyton will get a book because there is definitely a story there. The one thing I could not get over was the editing. It was pretty bad. Missing words, wrong names, extra words, completely wrong grammar, etc... It just took something away from totally enjoying this story 100%.

Love the story

I love the story!! So sweet!!
I like the POV writing.

What I didn't like (and why I gave it 4 stars) are the noticeable spelling errors! You are is you're NOT your!! And then when Hunter told about Jana's parents moving to a nearby town (away from the home they raised Jana in) then a few pages later he has trouble going to their house because of his memory their WITH Jana. It didn't ruin the story but kinda bothered me. Especially when the wrong spelling was used so much.

It was still a good read that I would recommend.

I'm a reader of all different types. And, sometimes, I just love a simple, happy love story... Especially when it's JUST that- a story. This book was easy to read and enjoyable. Yes, it's predictable. No, I'm not any smarter when I'm finished. But... A lot of the time, that's exactly what I'm looking for... A story that makes me feel good about love and joy again! Well done for a first book- I hope we see more!

An Unexpected Forever is about a second chance. It is about finding love after love it lost. It is about connecting with someone on such a deep level when you simply look at them, they touch not only your heart but your very soul.

Hunter lost his wife giving birth to their daughter Alyssa. After 3 years, Hunter has never truly grieved his loss. He knows that he has to stay strong for his little girl. With the help of his brother Heath and Peyton, they are his support system, the rock that he leans on during the tough times.

Kali has alienated everyone that she was once close to. In a abusive marriage, she finally finds the strength to get out and starts reconnecting with her friends, her family. When her abusive ex almost kills her and leaves her in the hospital, her family and Peyton rush to her side.

When Hunter and Kali meet, the sparks are instant. There is some invisible force that keeps pulling them together. To say that these two are both a little gun shy would be an understatement, but they can't seem to away from each other. As they spend time together, the walls that they have built up to protect their hearts start to crumble, and the love so unexpected shines brightly.

I was truly touched by the characters in this book. The family and friends that surround these character are so supportive and loving. Hunter and Kali are truly and inspiration. The things that they have had to endure only make they stronger and allow them to be a soft place for the other to land when they need it. Both give as much to the other and they receive.

For a first time author, Kaydee Mavericks hit the ball out of the park with this story and I can't wait to read more from this very talented author.

HEA:

Some thoughts:

This book was amazing and had me hooked from begging to end. I have always been a fan of second chance love stories and this books is one I added to my favorites list!
Hunter and Kali have both had it rough when it comes to love.
Hunter lost his wife 3 yard ago and Kali is just getting out of a marriage with a husband that was abusive to her.
When the 2 of them meet there is a spark right away but with everything that happened in there past neither of them wanted to admit to there feelings.
Hunter is afraid to fall for anyone after loosing his wife. He has a big heart but fears he will loose the memory of what him and his wife had.
Kali is afraid to get close to any man after the abuse she went through with her ex husband. She fears that she could never trust another man after the abuse her ex caused.
The big question is how do Hunter and Kali admit there feelings and ignite the spark that is clearly there to give them both the forever they both deserve?
The journey to your answer is one worth reading and I promise it is one that will touch your heart and stay with you forever!

This book starts out with a lot of potential and it doesn't fall short. It is a sweet book that you know going in with have a hea. This is a story of second chances and finding your forever. What I really enjoyed was the dual pov, I think it adds to a book when you know what is going on in the mind of both characters. The book is slow pace but enjoyably enough to pass the time. One thing I wished is that there would have been more suspense or drama, angst and more of a back story on the characters, that way I could have felt more attached to them. Overall I'd say It is definitely a heartwarming story for anyone who is looking for an easy read. I think this author will only get better over time as she continues to write.

Good plot but a little slow.

This book wasn't terrible but it could've been better. I felt the story didn't move very fast and that Hunter was very fickle with his feelings. I understand that he lost his wife and it hurt but after he met Kali it just got tiresome with the hot and cold crap with Kali.
I loved Alyssa she was so cute and breath of fresh air!! The relationship she had with Kali was sweet! I think the story plot was really good but poorly executed, Hunter went from unsure to in love and ready for a baby practically over night! I just felt that was a bit of a stretch but it did end with a happily ever after!!

Hunter and Kali

This is such a heartbreaking and heartwarming story that will leave you wanting more. Winter's wife died while giving birth to their daughter. Three years later, he meets his brother's fiance 's best friend. Kali has been abused by her husband and with the final attack, she is in the hospital. This is where they meet.

The author does a good job with the character development and storyline. I can't wait to read more.

If anyone questions my ratings, all I need to do is make visible a few of my notes and highlights and no one would question the rating! The editing was about the worst I’ve seen however my rating isn’t based on that alone. The male character (I refuse to call him a Hero) was awful! The constant pulling her in, then pushing her away was to the point of being ridiculous! I don’t think anyone would put up with that and if they did, it’s not someone I want to read about.

I think the story line held promise but with all the errors in word usage, grammar etc., it was hard to overlook and enjoy the story. Overall, I did read the whole book, I did like the story but it fell short. The author can definitely build on this story and should have someone else proofread her work.

Good storyline but it needs editing to correct grammatical errors and content errors. Kinda spoils the story when your and you're are used interchangeably. And she was bar dancing only 3 weeks after a big incident. There's more but not going to give spoilers.
There are good points. The little girl was adorable. And there was an HEA.

An Unexpected Forever was a sweet story about getting a second chance at love, and come on, who doesn't love a story about second chances at love?

The story line itself was good, and I liked both the H and h. Although I did spot a few grammatical errors, considering this was the author's debut novel, it wasn't really a big deal. I also really loved the bond between the H and his brother Heath and his girlfriend Peyton. They really had a sweet relationship. I actually wouldn't mind a Forever 0.5 which tells Heath and Peyton's story because I adored both of them. And little Alyssa was just darling!

The main drawback for me was that it felt quite rushed - and I know that is probably to be expected considering the word count. It would have been nice if the story was fleshed out a bit more and sometimes the conversations felt a bit forced and awkward.

Overall I liked it and I would definitely read another book by this author.

This was a very cute, sweet, quick read. I found the writing a bit elementary, but seeing as how this is the author's debut novel I expect her writing will grow the more she writes. What was very difficult to overlook was the horrible editing! Grammatical errors, wrong word forms being used, spelling errors - the list goes on. I will happily beta read/edit any future books for mistakes. I'm ok with one mistake here and there - I understand that it happens, especially with self-published and new authors who don't have a publishing company combing through every word to make sure it's perfect, but this was several throughout the whole book, (and even in the acknowledgements at the end.)

I LOVED the synopsis of this book. The actual book on the other hand was a little more questionable. I had to work really hard to keep going. There were a lot of editing issues as well. I felt like everything was incredibly rushed and unrealistic (I know it's fiction but this was a bit beyond the normal). I really wanted to like this book and there were parts I liked and parts that were harder to push through. I would definitely read this author again given that this book was published a couple of years ago and I'm all about giving second chances.
