Aside from being blind to the fact his best friend, Maxx Hughes, is madly in love with him, Logan 'Unbreakable' Kellar has it made. He's the best amateur fighter at TKO, has a buffet line of women desperate to be taken by him, and three friends that are his family. However, when Maxx crosses over from Logan's blind spot on the side lines to the dead center of his vision, he realizes that he can't stay blind to the fact this girl, is the girl.
Slut shame from heroine and friends, manwhore hero who parades his conquests in front of heroine when he knows she’s in love with him, pathetic heroine who wants to be like the “sluts” (yes, the same she slut shame) to be noticed by the hero, etc. etc. etc.
Not BLIND, just STUBBORN. He loves her but has commitment issues. She LOVES him but cant make him commit. She changes strategies but he still keeps running...and fucking airheads while she keeps her nights open so he can spend time with her before and after his fights.
Okay, this was like the funnest read EVER. Loved the POVs from both characters and how they were both so believable. And colorful! Maxx is really great and open-minded and understanding. Which took some getting used to at first, but the more I came to understand her and Logan's dynamic and history, it did make a lot more sense. And was pretty dang refreshing, I might add. Which served to avert a lot of anger and jealous vibes that are uncomfortable enough as it is for me to read. And Logan is just such a tough cookie with such a soft inside. And not the roll-your-eyes kind of mushy, or even the oh-lord-not-another-victim mushy, but a true human struggling with legitimate fears mushy. But he's trying and she's trying, both in their own touching right, and I loved that. But I also really loved their amusing, honest-as-hell and endearing internal convos with the reader. Very fun and very unique and I just ate up every single page. Side characters were fantastic, too, I might add. By the end of the first book, an appeasing amount of progress had been made, enough to lure me easily into the next installment. Which I am already thoroughly enjoying, by the way. Off I go, to read more heart-happy yumminess that is Maxx and Logan. Great job, Xavier, on the kick off to a very promising series!
Holy shit! This was the funniest piece I've read lately. apart from the steamy sex and high voltage intensity and temptation between the main characters - Maxx "oh-but-so-temptatious-book-nerd" and "God's-given-gift-to-women-broken-man-whore" of a fighter Logan - the neverending story of two friends fighting the impulse, the attraction towards each other on the path to become lovers.
The game of cat and mouse, of play and tease, of win and lose game where you're actually not sure which happens when is all nicely packed in the turmoil of their inner thoughts and they are presented to the reader...the funniest dialogues...
something like this: “Goddamn it Logan. Fucking humor me.” The word fucking coming out of her mouth causes my cock to try to rise again. Great. Just what this conversation needed. A third opinion.
God I love her. Shit. Did I just say that? I didn’t just say that. You? You heard nothing.
or something like this: The recall of her outfit has my dick threatening to rise. I swear you greedy son of a bitch, if you pop up now, no reward for a fight well done.
this was such a pleasant surprise...and I want more...I'm headed towards the 2nd part... since I already got myself BLIND, I might as well go DEAF or maybe lose all of my senses... LOL
This is the first New Adult novel from Xavier Neal and she did and outstanding job with it. She has a writing style that I haven't come across in my years of reading and I'm not sure what to even call it. It bothered me the first few pages, but after I got the hang of it I was cracking up. The characters are almost arguing with, or chiding the reader and it was great!
On the surface Logan Kellar is a douche bag to the max (pun intended). He is a gorgeous amateur MMA fighter that all the ladies love which he takes full advantage of. He's young, dumb and full of you know what. He lives with his best friends Luke, Erin and Maxx. When he isn't fighting or being a manwhore, he's actually a pretty normal guy-on the outside anyway. Logan fights to keep his demons at bay. He had an awful childhood that even his closest friends don't know all of the details about, including Maxx. There is a reason Logan acts the way he does. A reason you just want to smack him around about and tell him to give life a try!
Maxx is an ordinary girl in an ordinary world. Sure her best friend is the hot Logan Keller, but that's all they are-friends. Or so she keeps telling herself. Maxx isn't over the top and she certain isn't like the plastic chicks Logan is constantly bringing home. She is a book and gamer girl. Pizza and video games are a perfect night in for her, which she gets from Logan if it isn't Fight Night. Those nights are a totally different story, one she wants no details from.
Maxx and Logan go way back, saving each other from their childhoods if you will. They come from broken homes and have learned to lean on each other quite a bit. Even if one of them doesn't realize it yet. Ahem Logan. After Erin gets Maxx a job at the bar where Logan fights, all bets are off and the friend zone Maxx has been in with Logan is compromised. Big time.
While this is the story of Logan and Maxx, we are drawn into the life of siblings as well as roommates, Erin and Luke. The story is chock full of humor, not to mention some steamy sexy scenes. Logan has a lot of past to put behind him and I am eager to see if he will ever let Maxx help with that or just stay blind to her love. Great start to the series, funny as hell!!
This was a 4.5 star read for me. I 110% loved this story, I loved Logan, but Maxx was a breath of fresh air for me in particular. I read various sub-genres of romance and because I am a person of color who doesn't discriminate when it comes to romance one of those sub-genres happens to be interracial romance. One thing that I often find myself smh at or feeling could be done better is how people from different cultures relate to one another in these types of books. I think that where one grows up, and whom they are surrounded by influences your personal culture greatly. If you grow up with a mixture of people around you some white, black, Spanish, Asian, etc. from various levels of economic standing some very poor all the way up to upper middle class you have a much more diverse worldview and way of looking at things. Where others from more segregated or sheltered circles may feel out of place someone who grows up in a mixing bowl environment may not... I say all of this to say that this book does not focus on the fact that Maxx is not white or on the fact that she has a circle of mixed ethnicity friends... it focuses on the story... and for that I LOVED IT!!!!
Maxx met Logan, and their mutual best friends Erin and Luke as a teenager and through the trials of each of their lives they have grown into their own little family. Logan and Maxx come from not such great circumstances which is the initial spark to them forming a bond. Over the years Logan has become an emotionally distant player who fights for a living and to keep himself sane in many ways. Maxx is still struggling to find herself and dealing with one massive attraction to Logan while standing on the friend zone sidelines. When someone else enters Maxx's life as a potential suitor and Logan is forced to re-evaluate his own feelings for her things get really interesting...... and HOT!!!
This book definitely has a cliffy style ending and the next book is out on October 3rd, and titled Deaf. I'm sure it too will be one that I read from start to finish in one to two sittings!!! So yeah, READ IT!!!!
Honestly, the writing style wasn't for me at all. There is constant inner monologues that talk directly to the reader as if you're in the room with them, and while I kinda understand it, I don't like it. The protagonists were so infuriating I was constantly just staring at the screen trying to compute. He likes to sleep around and the way he talks about it legit made me feel ill. He's gods gift to earth and knows his bestie is in love with him but selfishly keeps her at an arms length and marches his conquests past her constantly never really caring if he's upsetting her. She's constantly calling the women around her sluts even when she's saying she wants to be just like them and get some quick time on his dick. Honestly she said slut so many times, and her and her friends ridiculed these women they don't know (calling them dumb or making jabs at them) so much that I was disgusted in them. She's always giggling, especially when her so cool friends say something she finds mean, like that the bartender her friend hates is a cow because she's a heavy person and just other stupid shit. I mean come on! Why was EVERYONE so snarky? And why is this girl pining over a guy she ALREADY got rejected by? And why are her friends ENCOURAGING her to pursue him? I legit thought she'd move out and that's how he'd see he needs her, nope, her friends say pursue him but don't fuck him and that'll make him come around! In fact, he's only REALLY interested in her once she puts some 'effort in' to her appearance. He thinks she was always gorgeous but now she's wearing short clothes, or as she says, dressing like a slut (so like the girls she sees him with?) instead of in yoga pants (in no way frumpy so I'm super confused lol) and 'nerdy' tshirts.
Seriously it was just all too much. BUT. I gave it a .5 because by the very end I was into their drama because I'm a drama queen. Wasn't expecting it to be a cliffy for the next book and definitely deflated my enjoyment all together and I won't be reading book two, KU or not.
Sorry but No. Blind didn't work for me at all. While a man whore or the women that love them usually never bothers me, everything with this one bothered me so much that if it wasn't so short it would have been shelved as a DNF. So first we have Maxx doormat, BFF whose madly in love with Logan and he totally knows it which was a complete turn off. Now we have Logan the man whore who guess what also loves Maxx but is no good for her, WOW never read that before. Oh yeah and they're roommates with their two other friends. So being such a great BFF to Maxx what does Logan do, he parades an endless amount of females through his revolving door of a bedroom. But he is such a gentlemen he choose a room with a bathroom so Maxx wouldn't have to share a bathroom with his conquest. To make matters worse Maxx doesn't date and hasn't had sex in years. In one of his endless monologues he states how he's chased of a couple of guys away from her. He's just a big jerk. The writing didn't work for me either. This one also ends with a cliffhanger but I have no interest in reading anymore. Unfortunately their friends didn't interest me either.
A serial is a whole story broken into installments. Or a story written/published in installments, the point is that they don't have a concrete ending.
A series relates to a set of books that are connected. And in romancelandia,They have HEA's dammit!
So calling this book 1 in the senses series ( which is how it's sold on amazon, B&N, etc) is very very misleading, because it's a freaking serial...*sigh* so now, I'm not only pissed because I read a serial ( which I freaking hate) , but I'm also feeling gypped, because IMO this was mislabeled.
Oh also neither character is all that great, the H is an asshole, screwing anything that moves, while keeping his BFF, who he knows is in love with him nearby...so she hears, and occasionally sees all his antics.
The heroine wasn't so hot either, first because she puts up with said antics, and also because she leads on another guy while trying to win the heart of the hero...now the other guy was pretty cool, so it bugs me even more that neither the h, nor any of her friends saw anything wrong with what she was doing.
Despite my dislike of both MC's though, Xavier Neal has a pretty engaging writing style, and I was just starting to get into the story, - i thought the mc's assholery was over and done with- when the book ended. Which sucks more, because 1 ( in case you missed it), I hate serials, and 2) if for some reason I decide to torture myself with the next installment, ( which I'm guessing also wouldn't have a HEA) I feel like either one or both mc's would've regressed and turned back into douches...so yeah, No.
So what can I say to get you to read this book, because seriously, it's amazing.
Sexy MMA Fighter - Check Hot Nerd girl - Check Some hot sexy time - Check Laugh Out Loud moments - Check
If that's not enough to get you interested, how about this.
Xavier has an amazing ability to connect you to the characters from page one. They speak to you in away that no other character has ;) Read the book and you'll see what I mean.
Though the story is about Logan and Maxx, let's not forget their friends Luke and Erin! They are also a big part of the story and just as captivating. When they are together you are in for some laughs, especially when Logan's conquests are doing the walk of shame.
But let's get back to Maxx and Logan for a second. These two have gone through a lot with each other. Some things that may have broken a normal person, but they prevailed through it all together. Though there are feelings there that are beyond just friends, Logan continues to turn a blind eye to them.
Once Maxx has had enough of being in friend zone with Logan, things between them start to change. The only question is, will Maxx get what she's be dreaming of having for years now, or will it all just be done for nothing?
Again, hot sexy MMA fighter, hot nerdy girl, some steamy scenes and laugh out loud moments. Really how can you say no to all that?
Blind is an interactive, story that makes you feel as though you are right there with them in the story! Maxx, the woman lead, is a girl with a sad past, that wants nothing more than the boy she has known for what seems like forever. Problem is, he too has his own demons, and they have had each other in the friend zone for so long that any chance of something "more", scares them both. It's not that the attraction isn't there, it's the fear of what happens when you fall in love with your best friend and it doesn't work out....especially when you have pasts like these two!
Xavier Neal has sucked me in! This book had exactly what I love in books. Emotions, a incredible storyline, and a love/hate relationship with the characters!!! Job well done Xavier!! Can't wait for Deaf in October!!!
Wow! I am absolutely blown away that this is Xavier's debut book. Amazinggg!!! I absolutely loved everything about this book! I loved her writing style and how she made us feel we were part of the book by how the characters were interacting with us. My heart breaks for Logan. I'm sad for him because of his past he doesn't feel like he deserves Maxx and the love she so wants to give him and that he wants. His mind is so tormented by his past that it makes him push away the one thing he's ever wanted. I also loved Erin and Luke. I like the dynamics of all of their relationships. I can not wait for the next book! It can't come soon enough!
I love when I get dual first person point of view and that’s exactly what Xavier Neal gives us here. The style of writing kept a smile on my face and had me laughing most of the time.
Logan. MMA fighter. Hot as sin. Dark past. Extreme lover of the v-jj. He lives with his three best friends, Maxx, Erin, and Luke (who happens to be Erin’s brother). Logan has it all going for him. He wins fights. He has hordes of women throwing themselves at him. What more can a young hot single man ask for? However, he is completely blind to the fact that his best friend, Maxx is completely and utterly head over heels in love with him. (usually the case, huh?)
Maxx is a quiet girl who is smart and a complete book nerd. She is talked into becoming a ring girl for the club that Erin works at as a ring girl (also the club that Logan fights at). Erin is trying to help Maxx get a job as an events coordinator and the ring girl position will get her foot in the door. Well that’s not the only door it opens. When Logan sees Maxx in a whole new light, he is second guessing his ways and maybe, just maybe Maxx is the girl for him.
As Maxx and Logan get closer, self-doubt begins to plague Logan. He doesn’t feel that he is good enough for Maxx and it is driving her crazy. Will Maxx be able to show Logan he is good enough? Will the Logan be able to give up his ways and be a one woman man? Read to find out!
I fell in love with these characters early on in the book. Erin is hilarious and I love her sass. Luke…too bad he plays for the other team, but I love him just the same. Logan will make you want to slap him as you’re taking off your panties to throw at him. Maxx, who can’t love a book nerd with passion? I can’t wait to see where Xavier takes us with this series. The book does end in a cliffhanger. Thankfully the next book, Deaf is already out! So while you are 1-clicking this one (which you must!!), I am off to read Deaf!
Okay folks here is the dealio... I liked this book, it made me giggle like a school girl... did I think it was drop dead funny... NOPE but it was cute and I enjoyed it... however it was a bit of a cock tease... I will explain
****Kind of some damn spoilers just an fyi****
This book is packed with so much sexual tension you can cut it with a knife.. and YES we do get some..."relief" but it's not the actual DEED... I mean I was crossing my fingers so hard that these two get it in... then cliff freaking hanger... which doesn't pissed me off because the books are already out but I question.... Do I continue to the next book in hopes that the characters GET IT IN or is this Maxx and logan sexual tension going to continue? Now....
I understand completely for the need to... "keep it simple" because seriously who the hell wants to mess up a friend you have had for years but at the same damn time I am like DUDE comes the hell on.. sigh..
This was a good book, I enjoyed their friendship and how they formed this little family.. it was really really great and they all meshed well.
Signing off.. In the words of 702.. "Can they get it together"
I seriously enjoyed this book especially when the characters talk directly to the reader. I enjoyed this book so much I am almost not pissed about the cliffhanger. Almost. Blind had many elements I like, a sex on a stick H who is an amateur MMA fighter, strong sassy lovely h who does not know how lovely she is, unrequited love between the two, great supporting friends and huge amounts of sexual tension. All that angst swirling around and then just as it's getting good BAM, cliffhanger. All hot and bothered and I have to wait until October for satisfaction. Damn.
I liked Logan and Maxx. I loved the way they talked to me. What I didn’t like was that they aren’t a couple at the end. Logan was sleeping with other women for more than half of the novella. It also wasn’t clear why Logan didn’t want to be with Maxx, but he was attracted to her.
Logan & Max have loved & cared for each other for years, Max lost her parents & Logan was a punch bag for his dad.
logan would climb in Max's window at night seeking comfort & curl up to her ( yep this got me).
Now older Logan is a fighter & Max works were he fights they share a home with 2 Other house mates & they are all like family.
Neither admit there true feelings, Logan continues with his man whore ways afraid of commitment.
Things begin to change & Logan starts to take of the friend zone glasses.
It's witty hot & fast paced & I am so gonna have to read the next book which is the other half really because this is a short read took just a couple hours.
Wow! I didn't know what to expect when first starting this story. The way Maxx and Logan talk to the reader was different for me, but I actually really loved how it was written like that. Logan has so much heart ache in his life that has created a lot of baggage he deals with on a daily basis. It's messed up his outlook on life and love a like. Maxx has always been in love with Logan an the best friend always by his side. But can they possibly have more?
Blind by Xavier Neal is the first book in the Senses series, and it was a great read! This book has 2 main characters, Logan Unbreakable Kellar, an MMA fighter, and his best friend since school, Maxx Hughes. They, together with their friends a young woman named Erin and her brother Luke. all share a nice home, that they bought when Erin and Luke's parents died. They are all so close because even though Maxx and Logan, had terrible childhoods, their friends' parents treated them like they belonged to their family. This works for all of them. In this first book the story centers around Logan and Maxx.
Logan had a hard childhood being knocked around by a drunk father all the time, and one night he came home to see his mother dead on the floor and before he could call the police they were at the door to let his mom know her husband had been in an accident that killed him. Logan did not go to his father's funeral, he and Maxx went to his mom's.
Logan went into MMA fighting and he is the best. This is the way he gets all his aggression out, he does not drink, use drugs, or anything but fight, and have women- different ones- all week long. This is the way he copes with life and the only ones he is even close to are his friends, especially Maxx, who he can't live without.
Maxx loves Logan, has loved him since as far back as she could remember, and it hurts her that he does not see her as a woman but just as a girl to hang out with, no sex involved. They spend the weekends watching movies and eating pizza, and having video game marathons, and after a fight Logan goes out and brings home all kinds of different bimbos, to get rid of the adrenaline rush still coursing through him.
Erin gets Maxx a job as a ring girl at Logan's fights so she can make money, she had just quit her waitress job, and although they would take care of her, Maxx wants to make her own way. It is just temporary as she is also going to be an events coordinator as well. Little did she know how slutty she would have to dress and she is nervous at first about what Logan will think, but she does it anyway, hoping he will finally notice her as a desirable young woman.
The first night into the ring holding up the cards and Logan is a goner, he sees Maxx in a whole new way he has not seen her before and he can't ignore what he has up until this point. He now see his best friend as a beautiful woman and can't help but notice all the guys noticing her too!
Will Maxx and Logan make a go of it? Will Maxx change his ways for her, or will he do nothing, not wanting to rock the boat and lose her friendship and love? You will have to read this book to find out. Also, Maxx gets a new assistant to work for her and he likes her and what will Logan think about this, when she starts going out with him?!
This book was really well written, and Xavier has a distinct writing style you are going to love, once you read a few pages you will see what I mean! The book is filled with a lot of emotional and sexual angst, there are some steamy sex scenes, and the author keeps you guessing about how the book is going to end. Also there is a cliffhanger, and the second book is now available so you will be able to read it and see what happens. The tone of the book while serious about what is going on, also has a lot of hilarious scenes, that will make you laugh out loud at the antics of these characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the next part.
I gave this book 5***** stars and hope to see a lot more by this author!
I cannot adequately put into words how FREAKING AMAZING this book was. I would give it a million stars if I could. Who doesn’t love a story about two polar opposites, in this case a nerdy girl and a hot MMA fighter, finally realizing how much they care about each other? Maxx is a nerdy girl who loves her books but is completely blind to the fact of how beautiful she is, not just physically but in her heart as well. Logan is a MMA fighter who is every woman’s fantasy and has a revolving door of women in his bed. The two of them have been friends since they were children, and Logan would seek refuge in Maxx’s bedroom on many nights after suffering at the hands of his father, but Maxx is in love with Logan and has been for a long time. Logan keeps her in the friend zone since he believes he can’t give her what she deserves even though she offers him stability and love. However, all that changes when Maxx gets a job as a ringside girl at the bar where Logan fights. He is forced to see her in a new light and soon begins to realize he has been blind to the fact that he is in love with her too. Will he let go of his past and give love a real shot?
I could not put this book down once I started. Xavier pulls you in from the first page and doesn’t let go of you even when you are finished. Not only does she connect you to the characters, but she pulls you into their story, literally. You get an inside view of Maxx and Logan’s thoughts, but it is written in a way in which they are talking to you as their closest confidante. I have never seen this writing tactic used before, but she does it perfectly!!! In addition, she draws you into the lives of the secondary characters as well. And, the sexual tension between Maxx and Logan is OFF THE CHARTS!!! SO HOT AND SEXY!!!!
I just couldn’t get enough of this book! My only regret is that it was over way too soon! There is a cliffhanger, but don’t fret! The second book, Deaf, is already out, and the third one, Numb, will be releasing early in November. So, you need to one-click this one NOW! You will not be disappointed. Xavier is definitely a writer to watch!!! I think great and amazing things are in the near future for her!
I love friends to lovers stories, and Blind wont disapoint. It's sexy, sarcastic & the inner dialogue will have you cracking up. I loved how the main characters talked straight to the reader. It was fun & a freash way of reading.
Maxx "Maximus" Huges (Maximus only to Logan.) is a fellow book loving, glasses and nerdy t-shirt wearing, sassy, main character. She's been in love with her best friend Logan "Unbreakable" Keller, for years. Maxx who is in need of a job is pushed into by her freiend and roomate Erin, to take a job as a ring side girl at TKO where Logan fights. Umm can you say SEXY FIGHTER! ;) If Maxx does the job well, Erin's boss will hire her to become the clubs new event coordinator. Something she really loves doing. Maxx, Kinda uneasy about prading around half naked in a ring, takes the job. One perk, maybe Logan will actualy take notice. But Maxx knows her and Logan will never get together. She's use to seeing a different bimbo slink out of his room every morning, afters one of his fights. But that's Logan. Losing himself in women and fights. But she can't control the way she feels. If only Logan would take a chance with her. Logan does love Maxx. But belives, because of his upbringing, that he couldn't ever love her the wat she wants. So he continues to push her away. With some help from there roomates, Erin & Luke. (Who are siblings, and i just love there banter.) tell Maxx, If you want Logan to pull his head out of his ass, then play the same game he does. Make him realize he wants to be with you. Flirt, flirt, flirt, but DO NOT SLEEP WITH HIM! And cue the sexiness! There has definetly been a lot of sexual tenison growing between Maxx & Logan over the years. And while exploring each other's bodies, they start to see how easy it would ne to fall into a relastionship. But Logan is still weary, despite his cocky, sexy attitude. He's a damaged man. His childhood is holding him back from being with Maxx. And Maxx is scared of the heartbreak she'll go through if Logan dosen't admit he feels for her, what she feels for him. But she's determined to make him see how amazing he is.
Friends Maxx, Erin, Luke and Logan are roommates, all with their own stories of how they got to where they are today. For Logan, he is the classic bad boy, womanizer and smartass. Troubled by his abusive childhood he hides his emotions very well, finding release in his profession – amateur MMA fighting. A revolving door of woman doesn’t slow him down or settle him down. But he completely relies on Maxx’s friendship – totally blind to the fact she is deeply in love with him. After all he is known as “unbreakable”. How could she love him? He’s totally broken and not good enough for her, at least in his mind. Erin ropes Maxx into being a ring-side girl for the venue where Logan fights. Never remotely considering Maxx as anything other than his best friend, Logan suddenly finds himself feeling jealous when Maxx steps out into the ring wearing very little and gaining the attention of all of the males in attendance. All of the tension and feelings between the two begin to come out in a playful game of flirting but heats up quickly. With advice from Luke and Erin, Maxx decides to play Logan’s game to try and get him to reveal to her his true feelings. As they get closer than ever before, they both wonder if this game will destroy their solid friendship or bring them closer to becoming a couple. This is the first novel by Xavier Neal I have read. I was hooked by the end of chapter one and now consider myself a huge fan! Her novel was not just well written it was witty and engaging. Maxx and Logan’s thoughts versus their dialog was superbly done and added so much more to their story! This technique allowed me to get sucked into their thoughts and relate to them on a whole different level. Her writing style left me no choice but to cheer for Maxx and Logan. It is a great read and left me scrambling to get my hands on book two in the series. If you are looking for an entertaining story of young love – this if for you!
"What kind of kiss? Like an 'I'm so stoked I won kiss?' Or like a 'You're my prize' kinda kiss?" "Like you're an x-rated porn novel that's been banned across America, kinda kiss................"
NADBB gets to review an author we fell in love with by stalking teaser posts!
Synopsis:
This story tugs at some of our favorite pleasure points. The story is about Logan and Max, friends who go back as far as childhood. Max is in love, but Logan is not in that mind frame and they're just friends. She keeps that to the forefront in her mind. Logan feels the same, but Max would never know it. Too much going on and Logan doesn't think he has much to offer a woman, any woman, (outside of his dick ) but especially Max. He's just a normal guy and nailing chicks is his pleasure. He and Max have been best friends forever and even he doesn't realize how much he's come to depend on her.
Can these two ever make it for the long haul as more than just friends?
The Review:
The Good: So much to pick how can we narrow it down? Xavier Neal makes us laugh out loud and giggle like a school girl. We love so much about this book. From characters we truly like and want to see together to hot steamy sex scenes that make us wish for our very own Logan.
The Bad: There's not much. Sometimes the readers were addressed and while entertaining at times, it could interrupt the flow of the story and kept us from being fully immersed into the lives of Logan and Max. I saw some complaints about a cliffhanger. Readers should be warned this is a continuation series. I'm a greedy woman and tend to like my HEA immediately, but this book kept me so entertained, I'm willing to read on.
I was gifted a copy of Blind in exchange for an honest review.
Well first of all let's start with the cover.... Now that screams READ ME! An extremely hot, fit guy who happens to be a fighter is gonna grab yr attention is it not? Lol.
You've read the synopsis so I won't go into the storyline again plus I really wouldn't want to spoil it for you, you really need to 1 click this bad boy.
Ok, so we have Maxx who is a strong, feisty, sexy nerd... I really liked her attitude and pizazz, then we meet her best friend/housemate Logan, who happens to be the said hottie on the front cover, he's your womanising fighter with issues to which remains closed off.....now the sexual tension between these to is off the scale, it's sizzles and left you wanting more and a cold shower, lol.
Also sharing the house is Luke and Erin who happen to be siblings and they are fab, they're like the friends that everyone would love to have and would remain with you through thick and thin.
This book is very fast paced and I devoured it in less than a day, I found myself reading whilst cooking tea, which trust me is not a good combination but I couldn't put it down.
My recommendation is read it, this book is slightly different in the fact that the characters talk to you, it took a while for me to get used to it but I loved it, you get to read what they are thinking at that given time and a proper look at their personalities and feelings.
Congrats Xavier on an awesome book and I can't wait for Book 2 - Deaf.
1.5 stars I really did not like this writing style. Every paragraphs is broken up with inner thoughts directed at the reader. I can see how some would like that, but i did not. Also, and I know that this a popular thing to do, but the manwhore and sexy best friend that doesn't know she's sexy that has been in love with him forever and never dates or has sex and then someone is interested and suddenly manwhore pulls his head out of his ass? I don't know, it's kind of annoying. I liked Luke a lot. Not Erin, though I guess she was okay. I think part of it too, we get these little lines like "kellar's die early" and "i'm empty" "i can't be what she needs" but there is absolutely NOTHING to back that shit up. At all. Oh, and his mom wasn't looking out for him by telling him its cool to run off while she gets the shit beat out of her. Nope. So, it just seemed like shallow cliches and not enough depth. There are some other installments, so maybe some depth is added there, I don't know. Again, I like Luke and may even read a story about him if he has one, but everyone else was too blah for me.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.
Okay, so this author is new to me. When she offered an ARC I took it because one she's new, and two, the book drew me in. I'm telling you now boy, am I glad I didn't refuse it.
This book is told in dual POV with the inner dialogue being my favorite part. These characters are so relate-able and funny, I was actually laughing so hard I was crying in some scenes. In others well, I was fanning myself because hot damn are they hot.
If you want to read a book with enough spice, and fun, freshness this book is for you.
