The Life of a Dog Named Jack

In book 2 of A Second Chances Pet Rescue Story Series, Kaleigh Mills describes how a dog might react to humans who come to the shelter seeking A pet.

"Love is a strange emotion,"Jack says, "It makes you do crazy, amazing, wonderful things. Things you can understand often, even when you're in the middle of it, and sometimes even after the fact. We are never happier than when our Master comes home. Then when we're pet. Sometimes at different points in my life I'd talk with my friends and we always wondered why we were loved when we were little,"

When a dog sees a potential owner, with his eyes, he sends a message: "Please take me home. Please, please. I am yours. Forever."

"All of us dogs, Jack explains, " know things too that humanoids will never know. Ever. And we know some things in our heart and once the heart is made up, it's done.""

Humans often mistake what is causing a dog to be depressed as Mills illustrates below:

"They left me behind," Jack said," I didn't have the heart to eat or play that night. A Second Chances worker tried to rouse me out of my depression by throwing my squeaky pork chop but even that didn't muster a reaction from me. I wanted Dear and Mommy to come back. What's wrong, fella?” the worker asked me as they did the last round of walks, feedings, and clean up before silencing the jiggling bell till morning. “Are you upset that your friend was adopted out? Don't worry. They went to good homes.”

So True

As the friend of my buddy, I would suggest any one consider reading this before even considering adopting a "buddy", be it dog or cat. My current friend was found as a puppy with the female and two other pup. Their age was estimated to be about 4 weeks old. He was put on a bottle after his mother died. He is now 13 years old! He has slowed down some, as I have, but is healthy and happy!
My wife and I have had dogs since we have been married, 62 years, and have never paid for a friend! I can only imagine the pack that will greet us at the " Rainbow Bridge "! All 8 of them!
This story tells how it must seem to a dog to be pushed aside. That is often the case when a puppy gets older, or a couple starts their family. They have feelings and cares just as we do. Being a buddy, or master if you will, is a huge responsibility! Not to be taken lightly!
Very good read!

His waiting paid off an they came back with a dog they already had to see if it would get along with Jack an they bonded . His forever home finally came .

What a precious dog story finding his own forever family!

I enjoyed this for how the author had let Jack share his own feelings and by telling us his story in his words and ways.
So, I would like to recommend this for anyone who likes happy endings for dogs like Jack, to give it five stars and recommend it for all ages. I received this ebook for free thru KU, and in return, here is my honest review. Great job Kaleigh! By Angela
