Faced with honoring a family obligation and a growing attraction to the young filmmaker, Marc allows Isabel to travel to Italy with him but seeks to limit her exposure to his family’s tragic past. Isabel discovers the untold story and challenges Marc to openly discuss the past. She is forced to expose her own secret as their desire sparks out of control.

I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This breezy romance tales revolves around two characters who are adept at denying their own feelings and emotions to themselves. Isabel, innocent and oblivious to the dangers of the real world, approaches a Marble business magnate, Marc, to help her make a documentary on marble businesses. She wishes to dedicate the movie as an honour for her grand-dad, who has had a terrible downfall from prestige to shame. Marc, hesitant, wary and suspicious at first, reluctantly agrees to let her work on her film. While he fiercely guards his secrets and past, never wanting to give any of it away to anyone, Isabel stumbles upon what he doesn't want the world to know. What doesn't help the situation is that Isabel and Marc cannot help but get irresistibly drawn to each other. Do they manage to uncover, share and secure their pasts and spend their future together, is what the book takes us through.

This was a smooth and casual read and doesn't subject the reader to a lot of intensity. The characters linger in the mind for long enough until the story lasts. While the plot is a tad predictable after a point, many readers will agree with me when I say that at times there is a lot of comfort in that sort of predictability. Amidst a lot of chaos, such stories ease the mind up a bit. I found the narrative pretty good - the exchanges, repartees and the conversations flowed very well.

I definitely recommend this book to romance lovers.

Isabel Neri's first big film project involves honoring her grandfather and the marble industry. To complete the film as she wants it, she needs the help of a reclusive marble mogul named Marc Santoro. She did not expect him to be so handsome, but his ruthless drive for perfection makes this already timid woman even more so. She has her own imperfections to hide, ones she believes would repulse Marc. Yet as their attraction grows, she must either share her secret with the gorgeous billionaire or push him away entirely. Can Isabel overcome her own fears to step out of the dark and into the light once more?

This is a sweet and easy to read contemporary romance. Isabel was at once likable and easy to sympathize with, and no one could blame her for her attraction to Marc. He's a hard edged businessman with a fiery passion for what he desires. The romance is not very intense, but it is the character growth that pulls the plot along. I enjoyed the bits learning about Italy and the marble industry.

As an independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock, I rate Ruthless Perfection with 4 fangs.
Ruthless Perfection is a typical love story where the man (Marc) doesn't see what is right in front of him until she (Isabel) is gone. Part of the story is based in Italy where Marc owns a marble quarry. Isabel is there to make a documentary about the old way of life in the marble industry. In the meantime, there are major sparks between Marc and Isabel. Marc is not interested in a committed relationship and Isabel isn't interested in a sexual relationship.
I enjoyed the story, especially the parts based in Italy and hearing about the culture. It was a very typical story where I could tell what was going to happen before it happened but the characters were likeable and relatable. This is definitely an adult read due to the sexual tension.

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads, so I might be a little bit biased in favor of it (who doesn't love a free book?) but hopefully this gives you a good idea of if you'll enjoy it or not.

Ruthless Perfection is a great cotton candy read; it's sweet, colorful, and doesn't have too much substance. At about 200 pages, it's easy to read in a day or two. Because of its length, the pacing is pretty good although the characters could be more developed. Ultimately, I had a good time reading it which is why the rating is what it is. The book isn't particularly challenging and I do wish it had gone more into the history of the marble quarry carrara, but otherwise I had no complaints. If you enjoy short contemporary romance, Ruthless Perfection is a fun, fast read.
