PART FOUR (of Four) Melanie and Tristan look like they just might have a chance at a future together. At least, until Tristan receives a call that brings his hatred of humans back into the forefront of his mind.
Will Tristan finally overcome his hatred of humans and cherish the female sacrifice who has started to capture his heart? And even if he does, will Melanie be able to survive the birth of her half-dragon-shifter baby?
This final installment answers both of these questions and so much more...read to find out what happens!
Sacrificed to the Dragon: Part Four is 21,000 words of dragon-shifter/BBW romance. It is the final entry in the Sacrificed serial, chronicling Melanie Hall's efforts to fulfill her contract and conceive a dragon-shifter child. The story contains strong sexual themes and language, and is not intended for readers under the age of 18. These stories are meant to be read in order. Thank you!
Jessie Donovan has sold over half a million books, has given away hundreds of thousands more to readers for free, and has even hit the NY Times and USA Today bestseller lists. She is best known for her dragon-shifter series, but also writes about magic users, aliens, and even has a crazy romantic comedy series set in Scotland. When not reading a book, attempting to tame her yard, or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, she can often be found interacting with her readers on Facebook. She lives near Seattle, where, yes, it rains a lot but it also makes everything green.
5*s Review posted here... http://bookpassionforlife.blogspot.co... The synopsis is for part one of the series but I am reviewing parts 1-4 as a whole because that is the story arc for these two characters before we move onto another couple. As the blurb tells us – Melanie Hall has offered herself up as a sacrifice to the Dragon Shifters. In return for a vial of dragon blood that will save her brother’s life, Melanie must live with the dragons for six months and in that time she must try to conceive a child to help the dragons maintain their numbers. Melanie will do anything for her brother so is determined to see it through and use the experience to her advantage by completing her thesis using the information she gains. Unfortunately for Mel, the dragonman assigned to be her mate hates humans and isn’t afraid to show Mel just how much she bothers him – making the partnership very tense indeed. Tristan MacLeod is not happy that he is being forced to mate with the human but will allow it, to benefit the clan. He hates all humans because his Mother was killed in a horrific way that scarred him for life so he is totally unprepared for the woman he meets. His dragon wants her but he doesn’t and when he’s forced to kiss her…. His dragon takes over and starts a mating frenzy that will only stop when Tristan has sated Melanie thoroughly and she is with child….. but then he leaves, he’s done his duty and that’s the end…. but his dragon has other ideas and makes Tristan challenge his prejudices against humans. Needless to say…..I loved this book! I read it all in one sitting because it was so easy to read and very moreish. It definitely ticked all of my boxes for what I love in a paranormal romance and seeing as I share the main characters full name and also live in Northern England – it’s like this book was written for me because if I had to pick a shifter to fall in love with me…..it would be a Dragon! I love the idea that women can sacrifice themselves to basically become a breeder for the dragons, Mel’s was a selfless sacrifice and that showed her character for what she was from the get go. She is definitely a woman who could be admired for her determination, the way she adapts to her circumstances, how she conducts herself and of course the reason she was there. I love when a couple start out hating each other, it’s the best kind of love when barriers need to be broken down and hearts rebuilt and that is exactly what we get here. Melanie challenges Tristan in a way he never has been before and it was great to see this little woman turn the big bad bossy alpha’s world upside down. I really enjoyed his inner turmoil with his dragon, trying to get him to not want Mel, keeping himself away from her – it was fun to read and added to the satisfaction when they do get together. It’s clear to see that Mel is changing him and he has most surely met his match. The storyline was great, most of it was about the relationship and burgeoning love but when you take that away you have a woman who has given up everything for her brother’s life, someone who must adapt to new surroundings and a new way of life. She has studied dragons but of course, nothing can prepare you for actually being in their company and both sides have bad stories about each other. Melanie will learn not to believe everything that is thought to be known about dragons, she will find that there is more prejudice against dragons than she thought and they can crush a womans’ heart just as bad as any human male but she will also discover their sense of family and community, how they will protect their mates and their young with everything they have and that they’re not the animals history has told her they were so she plans to change both the humans and dragons perception of each other. Tristan will learn that not all humans are the same and some can do amazing things, that it is possible to love someone different and that they can make a difference elsewhere. We do get some action in the latter part of the book and it definitely the biggest challenge to Tristan and his beliefs but it is also a challenge to Melanie when the possibility of losing everything she has gained is thrust upon her and will either make or break their love. This is definitely a series to read, I can’t recommend it enough, perfect for fans of paranormal romance that need an easy read with lots of sexytime and a nice dose of hot alpha male.
A solid read! I honestly didn’t think Jessie Donovan’s Sacrificed to the Dragon short serials could get past a 3.5 Hearts rating for me, but lo and behold, this story has passed my expectations very unexpectedly.
What started out as a pass-the-time kind of read, and while this still remains true, this has turned into a very satisfying read with the addition of this conclusion to Tristan and Melanie’s story, despite its unoriginality.
We pick up where we left off in Part Three, and although the cliffhanger in the previous novella promised much intrigue and action, it disappointingly didn’t deliver on that count. However, what it did deliver on was a good romance.
Tristan and Mel have developed so much as characters and as a couple, and this is evident with each new part to their story. They have some ups and downs, but they always find a way to get around them, and come out on top. The beginning and end of this story are a testament to that.
Tristan’s alpha, and sweet side definitely had me smiling like a fool, whereas, Mel’s feisty personality had me grinning. Their banter is one of my favourite aspects of this story. There is never a humorless moment when these two are involved, which I adored. The romance is ever hot, but in this installment it’s focused more on the sweet side, and that doesn’t distract from the main couple at all. In fact, it made me like them all that much more.
This was definitely my favourite part of the four novellas (although I still wish it was one book), and now I am looking forward to reading Bram’s story next! Recommended to all those that sometime don’t mind cliche romances, or just need a quick read to pass 20 minutes with.
*Review for all 4 parts of “Sacrificed to the Dragon”...2.5 STARS* I started this little shifter serial on an impulse recommendation. The whole “dragon-shifter” aspect had me piqued. I went in with low expectations as it IS a serial-which I’m prone to not liking-and because…hello it’s about DRAGON-SHIFTERS! Cool? YES…also the makings for some weirdness….
I’m reviewing this as a whole rather than piece by piece, but I WILL tell you, if you are reading them individually be prepared as they END abruptly….
The whole SHIFTER world that the author created is really interesting and what really drew me to the story….how humans cohabitate with the shifters in a very segregated ignorant way, but we also have this crazy ass “sacrificing” barter system to make babies for healing blood? YEAH.
The “Clans” aspect was cool…the story is a very strong stubborn female meets alpha asshole and within a short time they break each other down and fall in love. It’s a classic HEA with all the erotic steaminess thrown in for good measure.
One thing I couldn’t decide if I LOVED or HATED was that the “dragon half” of the shifter was almost it’s own being…so it would converse internally with the “human half”…..very instinctual beings hmmn? Sometimes funny…sometimes…weird. I don’t even know.
I would definitely be curios to keep going with the series and see what happens to the other characters, over all it wasn’t BAD just a good zone out read.
Despite the fact that a young dragon was captured by the anti dragon extremists, Tristan puts aside his hatred of all humans and tells Melanie how much he loves her. I liked this story. I would have preferred it if it was all in one book.
Just when Melanie’s beginning to believe to her and Tristan may have a chance Tristan receives a call that brings his hatred for humans back to the forefront of his mind in this thrilling conclusion to the paranormal dragon shifter Sacrificed to the Dragon conclusion.
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers hovering on the edge of temptation with suspense, excitement and passion. The story comes to life with well written scenes and details that draw the reader deeper into the story of these two enthralling characters.
The relationship between Melanie and Tristan if finally progressing and hope begins to build when a call about a young dragon in danger endangers not only their relationship but Tristan’s Life. The reader can’t help but get caught up in this story as hope for their HEA becomes possible and then the excitement of the dragon slayers and then finally the exciting and conclusion to this captivating romance.
There is never a dull moment in the final installment of this fascinating serial and I must say that I was very pleased with the ending and I can’t wait to read the next book in the Stonefire Dragons.
This is the fourth and final book. Tristan is finally coming around and is ready to admit that he has feelings for Melanie despite the fact that she is human. His dragon has known from the first time that he saw her that she was special but Tristan's hatred of humans kept him fighting his feelings. It's when he takes her to meet his sister that he finally comes to terms that she truly is different from the ones that killed his mother and injured his sister. But with one phone call, all of that might be lost because humans have once again hurt a dragon. Will Tristan fall back to his old feelings and will Melanie be able to survive the birth of her dragon-baby.
Once again my favorite character in this book is the Tristan's dragon. I love the inner dialog between the two of them. I really enjoyed the series and the ending was great. There is an except for the next book in the series and if it's written in parts as this one was I'll hold off on buying it until it's complete as this one was. That's the only thing kept me from giving it five stars was that each book only had 50 pages or so.
What a captivating conclusion to this serial. Donovan brings the action and suspense to a head, pulling you towards the inevitable conclusion. This novella combines the intricacy of romance with the heat of lust and a side of all things shifter. Her vivid descriptions allow the picturesque realm of Stonefire to come to life in a very real way, while the story itself takes you on a wild ride.
I loved seeing the transformation in both of the main characters in this instalment. They both begin to understand themselves and one another much better. At the same time, they remain essentially the same people that they started out being. Also, through them we learn much more about dragon shifter culture, psychology, and physiology. It was quite illuminating.
I thoroughly enjoyed this conclusion to the first serial in Donovan’s Stonefire Dragons series. I’d definitely recommend this to shifter lovers who can take the heat.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
Complete book one of the stonefire clan series. I think this book was originally published in separate parts then in a complete boxset/book. Makes it confusing when you trying to put in in your reading shelf on GR. Mel brother has survived cancer and gone into remission but because his brother dy is week he now has a antibiotics resistant infection and will die without dragon blood that can cure him. Mel decides to become a sacrifice for the dragons which means agreeing to be a mate to a male dragon and part of the contract states she must bear his baby then can decide to leave or stay. Tristan has hate humans ever since they attack and captured his mother killing her and brutality hurting his younger sister. When Bram his clan leader pulls him into his office saying it's time he take a human sacrifice Tristan is not happy but can't say no. Really loved this world JD has created. Really loved that Mel and Tristan didn't get on and they had to develop their relationship almost all the way through book. Loved ending and HEA.
The cover is again totally awesome, and I love the blue used on the cover too :)
Definitely an awesome conclusion to the serial, and I loved every minute of it. Melanie is an amazing woman and my favorite kind of female lead. Tristan is now an awesome man that I no longer feel needs to be slapped.
Jessie is a phenomenal writer who makes the story come alive. I definitely didn’t want it end. I know she has Bram story coming, so I’m happy about that. I just hope we will still get to see my favorite characters from this serial and updates on the family. The Stonefire Clan is awesome and I can’t wait to read more of their adventures, and I’m hoping we will also get to meet other clans along the way too :)
This series is definitely the best serial I’ve read to date. I highly recommend it to all my dragon lovin’ shifter friends out there.
Tristan and his dragon are finally in agreement and the bickering has stopped...for now. This series is clever, witty, funny and enticing. This is my second dragon shifter series and I'm really beginning to get into reading about them. They are quite different from the usual were shifters but just as fierce. I love Melanie's stubbornness and backbone. She is nothing like the typical sex-starved human female pawn in most shifter stories. Melanie hangs with the dragons and doesn't take any of their crap even if she's shaking in her boots! Although it seems too soon to say goodbye to the Stonefire Dragons, it could not have ended any better. Melanie and Tristan's future is looking pretty good at Stonefire and I get my happy ending. Of course, there is Bram's story...On my Were Scale of Hotness, 4 stars.
Well Melanie managed to tame her Dragon, not till he's set to go on a very dangerous mission does Tristan realize that he loves his human. Will he survive it and be able to tell her how he feels??
Melanie is having twins how awesome is that, but will she survive the birth?? If one could take her life imagine 2, will she survive to live her life with the man she loves and raise their children together...
There is so much suspense in this last book of the series, made me cry, literally...
Great story Jessie, but I can't wait to read Bram's story, that should be very interesting since I have a feeling I know what mate he's going after. I love these dragons...
This review is for all 4 parts of this series. This is a series about a different kind of world. A world where shape-shifting dragons live in England and need human females to bear their young. It was kind of a little out there but surprisingly a good read. In this book, Melanie is desperate to save her brothers life and the only thing that will do it is blood of a dragon. Howver, there is a catch she has to pretty much live with a dragon and have his kids. I have read books with something like this concept before and haven't love them. However, this was actually a good read. The characters were fun and the story was fast paced and still had a good mix of steam thrown in. If you are looking for a good shapeshifting book give this a shot.
So, the final instalment in these mini series, it was worth the wait, absolutely loved this story. If you havent read it yet, please do, start with Part One, or buy the box set. Ive just pre-ordered the next one, Seduced by the Dragon. Jessie is a fabulous writer, highly recommended, the way she intertwines the characters together, you almost believe its real, or wishing it was real, the dragon men are hot, fit, sexy as hell, and a dragon willing to protect you, what could be better. Check out the series, i promise you wont be disappointed xx
Can opinions be changed by one human? Just as things start to heat up and start progressing for the good, Tristan get a call and it’s about Dragon Hunters. Will all the work and forward progress Melanie made with Tristan, now go backwards? Will he ever see her for her and not just another human? This is in my opinion the best of the four books in the series. Lots of action, love, hate and high emotions are running throughout this book. Well written and very enjoyable to read. I was given a free copy for an honest review.
Thank you, Jessie Donovan. I can't remember when I have enjoyed the characters or a story more. I want to guess the answers for the questions that I have, but that would be a spoiler. I will have to wait and read the next story and the next. Tristan and Melanie's characters have become two of my favorite lovers. My very favorite characters and their interaction was Tristan and his inner beast, his Dragon. Jessie you are a great storyteller!
This series is such a great read I enjoyed how Melanie and her Dragon shifter that hated humans but fell in love with her anyways. Melanie also won over his sister that would never come out of her house from the scars a Dragon Hunter left on her. If you like shifter romance novels you will like this series. I give this story a 5/5 the author did a great job with her characters and the story line is one hot read.
Love reading the book and the fact that the male really didn't want to partake in the program the female was in it for the right reasons and stubborn enough to put up with him. I like the way the other humans in the story helps would have like some more information about Clan Dynamics and more of the Dragon shifter history all in all it's a good finish sex scenes were great
This will be a classic it's one awesome series one that I intend to read again. If you want to read a celebration of life you will most assuredly want to read this series. I think it's heart warming and just the best. Reading this book will make you a FAN of DRAGON SHIFTERS, I have given it five stars because I feel that it's a book for ages and one of the best it will be in the TOP TEN before it over it's just that awesome
Wow....don't you just love a great story. Book 4 was just awesome, what a perfect ending! Don't you just love a dominant alpha male and a strong woman to knock him to his knees, well I do and I have have to say i'm really excited to read Bram's story coming in October. This is one of my favourite series in all the books I've read!!!
ohhh my what an amazing journey this was!!!! The last part of Tristan and Melanie at last. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry and i have to say that Jessie did an awesome job! I really couldn't place the book down once i started it and the emotional rollercoster gave me an amazing ride. I really can't wait for more of Jessie's stories!
The reason, I choose his rating was because it is really great. The only thing I dislike was the book was too short and I had t wait for four books so I could finish reading the complete book. Keep writing books about paranormal and shifters; I love reading about them. Great job and waiting anxiously for your other book.
These are short, 5-6 chapters, and really should have been released as one book. This was a first for me reading about dragon shifters, although I have read plenty of other shifter books. These did have a good story line and I did like the characters. My only reason for not giving it just a little more praise would be the separate books instead of just one.
Should definitely have been a full novel or bought as a boxset as i've bought it.
The final installment see's the real action pick up with Tristan and Melanie realising how much they mean to each other even though they were paired together under less than favourable circumstances.
If you've read the previous 3 you have to read this one!
Lots of danger and action here! Melanie shows her love for all of Tristan - the human AND the dragon - and Tristan reveals his love for Mel. Dragonhunters bring trouble and near death, and childbirth does the same. I highly recommend this series of books to you. I can't wait until Bram's story begins!
Oh wow. What they have to go thru to be mates is crazy but I am happy that Tristan realized what he had before it was to late. They had some serious issues to deal with but they overcame them to be together and I think it made them stronger. If you want to know if she made it thru the births then read the book. :)
