Meghan Hawthorne is restless. The last year has been a roller coaster: her widowed mother just married a long-time family friend. Her younger brother unexpectedly became a father and a husband. Everyone's life is changing. . .except for hers. As she begins her final summer of college, Meghan's looking for excitement and maybe a little romance. Nothing serious; this girl just wants to have fun.
But the only man for Meghan turns out to be the last one she expects.
Sam Reynolds doesn't need excitement, and he doesn't want romance. Fun is out of the question. He's been the steady, responsible one since his parents were killed, and serious is his way of life.
When Sam rescues Meghan alongside a dark Georgia backroad, she falls hard for his deep brown eyes and slow drawl. But making him see her as more than just a party girl won't be easy. Sam's tempted by the fiery young artist, even as he realizes that giving into his feelings will mean radical change. . .maybe more than he can handle.

He was the last one she wanted... She was the last one he needed...
That story was very sweet and easygoing... It earned me from the first moment... and i just couldn't stop reading!!!
Meghan had many changes in her life the last couple of years... Her loving father had passed away, before a half year her mother remarried with a good friend of her father and her little brother suddenly had a wife and a kid... All of that were too much to handle them!!! Everyone was moving forward and she just stayed the same... So when she is returning from a visit to her hometown and her best friend suggest to go almost an hour away to a new bar, Meghan accepted and get buzzed until she faded away... But in their way home, the car broke down and a stranger helped them out. Of course, Meghan doesn't remember too much of that night and when she returned back to take her car, she found herself in the unpleasant position to verbal attacked from a beautiful stranger... But she will never see him again, so why she is feeling so bad???
Sam had a difficult life since his both parents died fourteen years ago... At the age of eighteen, he left alone to take care of his younger sister and their farm... Nowadays, Sam is still taking care his sister and her little girl and he is still working hard to the farm. But all these responsibilities made him very serious and a little bit sensitive... So when he saw Meghan almost dead from drinking, he got agree with her and when he met her unexpectantly two days after that incident, he couldn't hold back and he told her that she was irresponsible and immature... But why she had bother him so much??? He is never going to see her again...
But fate had other plans.... A month after, Meghan assigned to teach art to children for the summer to... Surprise, surprise!!! To Sam's hometown!!! And fate had a very sick sense of humor... She had to live in his house, since his sister had offered to take the art teacher under their roof!!!
Well, Sam and Meghan were a little bit surprised when they met again, but they had to get over it and tolerate each other... Most of the times, their encounters were intense and irritated as hell!!! But is it really a problem there??? Or Sam just trying to stay away from the temtation that come in his house and that's why he is acting like a jerk??? And why Meghan can't take her eyes away from him???
Meghan was a little naughty girl. She liked to have fun and that was something that Sam didn't like. Except from that, Sam was having major responsibilities and Meghan was just a college girl, too young for him... These would be the reasons why he had to stay away from her, but the pull was so strong and he couldn't stay away from her. But the same went for Meghan too...
So they make a deal... They will have a nice time together for the summer and then each of them will follow his/her way!!! But what will happen when love will take the front seat???
That was a lovely story full of intension and passion... I liked Sam and Meghan's fights and i really enjoyed the way that they were together... There was magnetism between them!!! Meghan discovered how good could be love and how nice is to belong somewhere... (Oh! I forgot to tell you that i really liked all this country life and the farm works!) And Sam find out what is like to have fun and to be more carefree.... They did only good to each other!!! I also really liked Ali and her little girl... I am so curious and i want to learn more about her story!!!!

A classic story of boy meets girl, boy can't handle how much he wants to bang girl, boy acts like a jackass and treats girl like crap, girl mysteriously finds this sexy.
The central plotline was a little troubling, but the truly disturbing section was the subplot with her "friend" Owen. Owen is infatuated with out heroine and truly believes that they are meant to be together forever. He's basically a stalker. The book (thank God) makes a point of how creepy and weird this is, but gets a bit judgy when our heroine admits to our hero that once when she was blackout drunk she slept with Owen. It is implied that this is an error in judgement on her part which our hero is man enough not to hold against her. At no point does anyone mention or even think to themselves "You know, actually, if your friend Owen took you home when you were so drunk you could not remember your own name and then decided to have sex with you (sex that you were too drunk to remember) then that is not you leading him on or even a drunken mistake. That is rape." I mean, seriously?
Sometimes you just have to let loose one night and get ripe roaring drunk. And that is just what Meghan Hawthorne did after returning to Savannah, Georgia after a visit home. Meghan and her roommate, Laura (also her DD, no drunk driving in this book [=) head to a new bar about 45 minutes away in Burton. On the way home, Laura experiences some sort of car trouble and a nice samaritan stops to help.
Sam Reynolds is as serious as they come. Forced to manage the family farm all on his own (with some help from his younger sister) after his parents died, Sam has no time for fun, romance, dating, etc... When he sees Laura and Meghan on the side of the road, he is instantly drawn the the drunk Meghan, even though she was sleeping pretty much their whole first interaction.
But their "second" meeting...
Meghan returned to Burton (alone) to pick up her now repaired car. As she is waiting for her car to be brought up, Sam walks in. As Meghan begins to thank Sam for helping, Sam RIPS into her for being irresponsible and being a bad friend to Laura. Meghan storms out determined to forget Sam and the town of Burton for good.
But fate can be a funny bitch sometimes...
Meghan has to return to Burton for the summer when she volunteers for ArtCorps, a program that sends art students to teach in areas that lack art programs. AND is staying in Sam's house (with his sister and young niece). From there Sam and Meghan have to learn to communicate with each other without it turning into an epic fight. And once that happens, even they can no longer deny their chemistry.
But can what was supposed to be a summer only fling turn into more?!
Rating: 4 out of 5
**I received an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.**
Ugh. The hero has a major chip on his shoulder and is just really unpleasant. I also don't like the way the romance develops. This book is kind of strange in that it seems sexist at times, with subtle instances of slut-shaming, and yet I also felt like I was reading into things too much. Either way, it didn't sit quite well with me.
My first book by Tawdra Kandle, I didn't read any reviews so I had no idea what to expect.. and I was not disappointed! The beginning was a bit slower but not totally boring. Once things started happening I couldn't keep my eyes off it.
Meghan is art major at university, she's got the "love them and leave them" attitude and commitement is a foreign word to her. One day she and her BFF drove to different (yet close-by) town to try out a new bar. Meg's hammered, barely coherent and their car stops in the middle of the road.
Mystery stranger aka Sam helps them. He's a farmer, reliable, grumpy and if you see him smile once a week you're lucky. When he carries Meg to a rental car, their eyes meet and they instantly connect.
They meet again once again and he's rude as fuck so they part. Then they meet once again, because Meg volunteered to teach art to students all over the US. The place she ended up was the only place she didn't want to be. In his house.
Sam's little sister volunteered to host the art teacher for the summer and because there are no hotels in the little town, Meg has to stay there and bear with him. Sam is even more hostile now then he was before and the attraction he feels towards her doesn't help.
I really enjoyed reading this one. Their relationship wasn't rushed and it was nice to watch the build up. What got annoying after a while was the constant talk about "things being only temporary" - it was on every third page.
Both of them were likable characters and they seemed to match really well. There wasn't an excessive number of sex scenes and they actually build a relationship in the two months she spend in his house.
It was a bit shorter book but I didn't mind. Everything that needed to be said was said. If it was longer I think it'd get repetitive.
The ending wasn't rushed and seemed natural. I was really content with the way things ended.
I'm looking forward to the next instalement where I'll find out more about Sam's sister. I think she's got a lot to tell.
The Last One by Tawdra Kandle is the first book in a contemporary romance series, called the One Series. It is told in dual narrative between Sam and Meghan, and I absolutely loved it. It is technically adult contemporary romance but I think it will appeal to fans of new adult and adult romances alike. The Last One allowed me to totally tune out the world. I could not put this book down, for anything or anyone. I was so engrossed with their story. I loved the dynamic between the two of them. They started out on the total wrong foot and became bicker buddies for a long time after that.
Sam had the wrong first impression of Meghan, but I loved the happenstance that brought them into each others lives for longer than their first meeting. Let me back up and explain. Meghan is a junior in college that has been having a rough time with some family stuff. So her and her best friend go out one night for carefree fun so Meghan can just let loose. Megahn and her friend end up broken down on the side of the rode and Sam comes to their assistance. Meghan is totally wasted and Sam thinks she is just some party college girl. Meghan meanwhile signs up to do a volunteer ArtCorps over the summer. A program that assigns an art student to be a volunteer teacher for a community in need of one. The student stays with a host family for the summer and gives free art classes to the kids in the community. Three guesses who is a part of Meghan's host family for the summer. And just like that you have all the ingredients you need for a sizzling and banter laced-, unresolved sexual tension filled, summer of a good time.
Sam and Meghan are so great together but man oh man are they ever thick-headed. They are each so focused on not getting tied down, that they don't see a good thing when it is staring them in the face. They each need a good shaking from time to time, but that is all part of their journey. And what a journey it is. Fans of new adult and of contemporary romance alike will love Tawdra Kandle's writing. I could not get enough of Meghan and Sam. I can't wait to see what is going to be next in the series. It is Ali's story and I am super excited about that because that girl deserves her HEA.
*Note: I have seen this as Adult contemporary romance as well as New Adult contemporary romance. I think it would work for either of those categories.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found myself thinking about it constantly while reading and even now that I have finished it, I keep thinking about it. Meghan is a art student in college and taken an opportunity with ArtCorps. It's like the Peace Corps, but they send art students to places that have cut their art programs in school in order to create summer art programs. Meghan joined this group and was picked to go to a small town only about an hour away from Savannah, Georgia (whether she attends college). The only problem with this is that she and her best friend went to this town not that long ago which resulted in her getting drunk, her car breaking down, and the wonderful man that helped them chewing her out for being irresponsible. Meghan was embarrassed and not thrilled at all to be placed in his town for the summer. The whole situation got worse when she discovered that she would be living in said man's house. Sam was just as shocked to discover the living arrangements. What Sam was perhaps even more shocked about was his growing attraction for Meghan, the "too young for him" artist his sister arranged to teach the kids of his town.
The story will keep you excited and looking for more. I was very happy to discover the connection to Tawdra Kandle's book The Posse, which is another fabulous read. I am also looking forward to reading the next one in this series. Each book is a stand alone and you won't get too much information to spoil reading one of the others, but my personal preference is that you read The Posse and then read this one.
Wow. Talk about romance with an edge. From the beginning the characters were so real that I was completely invested in them. The sexual tension woven into the story added so much value to the relationships. I will be reading this book many times just so I can spend more time with Meghan and Sam.
I love a book that can make you laugh and cry at the same time. I am so happy my friends suggested this book and I'm going to pick up the next book in the series.
this is my first book of Tawdra Kandle's to read and it most certainly will not be my last. I fell in love immediately. The characters were real and flawed. They loved passionately and were also conflicted. The concept draws you in and keeps you reading.
Here we have two people really at crossroads in their life. Sam is mired with responsibility and feeling as if the whole world rests on his shoulders and Meghan is feeling lost. She is trying to find her destiny. Where does she belong? where does she fit in? And where really is home to her? Going back home to see family showed her that that is no longer where she really finds comfort and solitude. Too much change has happened since her dad's passing and it is not change that has made her feel at peace with things. So Meghan is wandering and feeling lost. Hoping to get grounded soon because she feels if she doesn't she will never really find her compass.
These two have their paths cross one night when Meghan is at her worst. For some reason unbeknownst to Sam, Meghan pulls at him. He feels protective of her but also feels more. Very confused by this, his next time seeing her isn't his finest moment. I would say it was one of his worst. These two fluster each other and yet are immensely attracted to each other as well. The sparks fly off the page as they argue and exasperate one another.
As far as characters in this story goes each is unique and special in their own way.
Ali Sam's sister is the mother hen. Always wanting best for everyone and sacrificing for others like her brother. Her secret she carries is big and I do fear when it comes out what will happen. What attracts you to her is the genuineness that Tawdra has created in her. She truly wants what is right for her family and it shows.
Sam is just really their is no words for him. He is fiercely protective of those he loves. Kind, loyal and a all around good guy. conflicted over his feelings because of his responsibilities to his family and his fear of failing them. He doesn't wish to let anyone down and this puts a large burden on him. One that he is afraid to let go. It almost costs him everything in the end or at least everything that matters when it comes to your heart. He desperately tries to fight his attraction towards Meghan but doesn't fare well which is good for us. these two really are so sweet together. As you read, you can feel the struggles and decisions Sam must make and how he feels with each one.
Meghan- a free spirit in many ways but trapped as well. I think this is what is hurting her the most. She is trying to be free and find her peace. Sam helps her and grounds her but she also doesn't want him to feel burdened with another responsibility. through her summer she finds her place and who she is. Denies it though because of her desire not to lose herself to someone who has other burdens. Almost costs her. a character that is flawed and genuinely kind. what she does to Owen is sad and I do hope he finds someone who truly is there for him but Meghan is not that girl.
Alex-loved him. this guy so deserves a story. He is fun and light. He brings a levity to the story and helps you gain a perspective.
The story is great. One of fighting responsibilities and trying to gain balance between them and your heart while freeing yourself of burdens and falling in love. Finding yourself and where you belong is the biggest part of this story to come home with. Sam and Meghan are each other's home. They are each others support and safety net even when they don't want to be. their love helps to ground one another and bring about the best in each other.
A story of love that will have you smile and laugh as they fight each other and finally succumb to the inevitable each other. A wonderful fun read to curl up with in a chair and get lost in.
Life is constantly moving and changing and the one thing you can count on is that nothing stays the same. This is the story of two people that meet at a changing point in their lives. Decisions will be made to either face those changes head on or stay in that comfortable zone and remain stagnant allowing life to pass by unchallenged.
Sam had pulled over to help the stranded woman on the side of the deserted country road when he realized she was not alone and her friend was in no condition to help. From the moment Sam saw a passed out Meghan in the front seat of the broken down vehicle he was captured. He towed their car back to town, arranged for them to have it fixed and used a loaner to get them back home to Savannah. Sam thought that would be the last time he laid eyes on Meghan but fate had something else in mind. The second time he saw her was when she returned to get her car from the repair shop and once again sparks flew between them. He really didn’t have time for the feelings he felt for her and the way he couldn’t seem to stop thinking about her. Feeling like a total idiot for telling her she needed to be more responsible and not drink so much, he really thought that would be the last time he would ever see of her. But once again he was so wrong.
Meghan could not remember much about what had happened the night she went out with her friend to dance and have drinks. The only thing that she could remember was a pair of brown eyes that seemed to see right into her soul. When she meets the owner of those eyes she is pulled to him like no one she has ever met before and he lectures her about her night out! Thinking that they will never see each other again, Meghan is surprised when the program she has signed up for through the college for volunteers to teach art assigns her to the town where she had met Sam. When Meghan arrives at the home of the family that will hosting her for the summer she is amazed to find Sam is part of that family.
Will the two be able to withstand their need for one another? Can Sam put aside his preconceived ideas of Meghan? Read this novel and find out about Meghan and Sam’s journey to find their HEA!
Would I recommend this book: Yes! This is a beautifully written story of two people finding true love and their journey to overcome the roadblocks in their way. It has sizzling sex and a unique look at courtship, country style.
Would I recommend this author: Yes! Tawdra Kandle writes from a refreshing standpoint about the struggles that some couples experience in their quest to find where they belong. I look forward to reading the next in book in this series.

Hello, welcome back to another book review!!! I find that I’m really into the New Adult genre since the last month, and this books is yet another one that I got approved for through Netgalley.
I had a few problems with the writing at the beginning of the book, unfortunately. I found it really descriptive, way more than needed be, and it took me a while to get really into it. Once I got used to the type of narration, the book flowed well and fast. Heck, I finished in under 24 hours.
About the characters, I liked both Meghan and Sam, but sometimes I just wanted to slap the hell out of them – more Sam than Meghan. I understood why he was “angry” at her and why he wanted to keep his distance, but on 2 occasions, the things he said? NOT COOL!!! Like, at all! But once they get over it, and he gives in to her, the romance is nice and hot and steamy.
Meghan fits in nicely in the farm and small town life, and it feels organic in a way that neither of them has to go out of their way for them to be together and happy. The romance is nicely done, and we can see them crumbling under each other and starting to have feelings way deeper than the occasional fling that they set out to have. But hey, everyone sees it, even them.
Warning though, this is a New Adult book, and it has a lot of sexy times – it’s not overbearingly explicit, but it’s enough. Speaking of those times, these two seem averse at having intimate moments inside four wall… seriously people! The guy owns a farm, a barn, 2 trucks, a stand, did I mention a house? Yet, they end up having sex on the side of the road, near the river, on the middle of the woods, river again… oh wow… Still, the chemistry is very much there and it makes it a pleasurable read.
The plot was predictable enough, though – again – it was nice.
All and all, this was a nice read, but it didn’t go for more than that for me. I had a few troubles getting into the writing, I couldn’t connect to the characters 100% and the plot hold no big surprises for me, so I give it a solid 3 stars. *by the way, sorry for the amount of times I used “nice” in this review*
I am interested in reading the next novel in this series, which focus on Sam’s younger sister and her romance with the father of her 8 y.o. daughter. This book gave clues enough for me to be interested and I really liked Ali as a character. I also want to see how Meghan and Sam are moving forward.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
As an almost strictly paranormal romance reader, it takes a certain type of author to convince me to dive into straight romance. Tawdra Kandle is one of the few authors I will make an exception for. Her writing style is so easy and relaxing that I have to really keep an eye on the time or I’ll stay up all night to finish one of her books. This one was no different, with pages upon pages flowing by without me even noticing. I love the pacing and POV changes that keep my attention from wandering. This story was adorable and gritty real enough to convert even the most reluctant romance reader.
Meghan is an art student who is still trying to find her place in life. She’s still got one more year of college, but it seems like everyone around her has a better plan for the future. Inspired by the opportunity to see other areas of the US and reinvent herself, she signs up for ArtCorps and volunteers to teach art in schools that do not have a current art program. All the while, she still trying to be an impulsive college kid who goes to bars, gets drunk, and dances her booty off. One such night, she ends up passed out in the passenger seat when the car breaks down. A knight in shining armor stops to help her roommate (and only sober girl in the car) by towing the car to a shop. Admittedly, this is probably a bad first impression for Meghan to make, but Sam certainly reacts in his own special way.
Sam is a hard working farmer who is trying to provide for his sister and niece. All work and no play have left him a bit of a grump, and he takes that out on Meghan when he sees her picking up her car. He probably doesn’t know how to deal with the confusing emotions that Meghan stirs up, but he handles it all wrong. Of course, fate deems them compatible and keeps throwing them at one another. It was a lot of fun to watch and we get some solid romance. At parts, I felt like crying right along with poor Meghan, or hugging it out with Sam. This couple was really great and went through some very real struggles along the way.
This is the start of a new series that I’m really eager to dive into. If this story is any indication, we are in for a rollercoaster ride filled with love and heartache. I can’t get enough!
Attraction and passion don't wait for the "perfect" time. The Last One shows that people walk into your life for a reason and sometimes it takes a little longer to figure out what that reason is exactly. Meghan and Sam both are in need of one another and don't even realize it until they are so tangled up in one another that happiness doesn't exist without the other. I give this read a sweet and charming 4 stars.
Meghan goes through guys like water because she can't help but date a lot. She likes a guy, dates him, becomes bored with him, and moves on. She's artistic, independent, caring, and creative. She's struggling to adjust to her mother being married to someone she grew up with as an uncle a few years after her father's death. Meghan volunteers to be an art teacher to young children during her summer break which throws her further at Sam.
Sam lives with his sister and niece on their family farm. After the death of his parents Sam feels responsible to keep the family farm running and look after his sister and niece. He's hardworking, kind, closed off, clever, and funny. When he first meets Meghan he's drawn to her and can't help the feeling of needing to touch her. The second time he meets Meghan he makes a horrible impression and verbally bashes her.
The first portion of the novel involves Sam and Meghan feeling one another out and coming to terms with what they want and don't want. They dance around one another until they fall into a torrid affair that becomes more than either actually expected it to become. Sam gives Meghan all the romance, understanding, and care she needs while keeping her on her toes. Meghan stirs Sam up like no other which works for him. She gets to him and gets him which ultimately hooks him on her.
The Last One by Tawdra Kandle is a sweet romance about an art student teaching for the summer in a small Georgia community and falling for the farmer whose home she is lodging while teaching.
This book exists in the same world as The Posse and is about Meghan Hawthorne, Jude's daughter. Still healing from the loss of her father her relationships with men have been non-existant. She dates briefly and moves on forming no emotional ties. When her and her friend are rescued one night from a bar far out of town she barely remembers the hunky male that helped them get their car to a shop and repaired. He remembers her though. Sam has been taking care of his family's farm since his parents passed away a few years ago. He is doing everything he can to keep it running and to continue to provide for his sister and niece. He has no time at all for a college girl that was too drunk to even remember the first time they met. But perhaps he doesn't have to come off as so rude when they cross paths for the second time.
Sparks fly, insults are thrown and feelings are hurt. It's what happens next that will warm your heart and leave you wishing for the happily ever after.
A beautiful story that may require a tissue or two but will definitely make you a fan of this author's work.
The last one is book #1 in The One series and the first book I have read by this author. I was gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
I love a good cheesy romance and that’s what this book is, good old fashioned romance.
Megan is a nice girl, she’s straight forward and at times a little jaded, but overall she’s a nice relatable character.
God Sam for the first half of the book I honestly just wanted to punch him!!!! He’s judgemental and obnoxious and so bloody self righteous I hated him!!!
Right up to the point when he stopped being a total jackass and starting being a swoon worthy, sexy farmer. Well then I sort of fell for him a little bit lol.
I loved that this book wasn’t angst ridden and dark. Sometimes light hearted love stories are perfect!!
This book has some seriously steamy moments, the sex was hot!!! But I don’t think that Sam really got the hang of the no strings sex thing he was just far too sweet and thoughtful.
At times I did feel like I needed to understand more of Megan’s back-story, her family situation was complicated and it was referred to as if the reader should understand what had happened. To my knowledge this isn’t a spinoff series so I would have liked a quick recap.
I can’t wait for Ali and Flynn’s story she’s a firecracker so I know it’s going to be intense.
This is a great beach read, light, airy and guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
“You gonna introduce us to the lady, boy, or you gonna give your mama a bad name by not using the manners she beat into you?”
“When you touch me, it’s like you set me on fire. And I burn for you, until I think I’ll end up cinders.”
“On the radio, a county singer was talking about checking some girl for ticks. ‘I can’t believe you listen to this.’”
“Love doesn’t always give you more than one chance to get it right.”
My Review:
It was only supposed to be a fun summer fling, but it became more than either of them wanted to admit to themselves or to each other. I enjoyed this sweet and sexy love story, and found it a welcome relief from the angsty romances I’ve been reading lately. The story was well-written, relatively light and easy to follow, spotted with humor, insightful, and entertaining. Her characters were interesting, likable, and worth knowing. The sensual scenes sizzled and snapped… and made me wonder why I never went on a night fishing adventure in my misspent college days, as apparently - I missed out. This was my first time reading Tawdra Kandle, but it won’t be my last, I like her style.
I received an ARC of The Last One in exchange for my honest review. All opinions shared are 100% my own.
Meghan is starting her senior year of college and trying to figure out "what she wants to be when she grows up". All around her things are changing, everyone has their lives planned and mapped out and she's struggling to find where she belongs.
Sam, through sad circumstances, has his life mapped out, living a solid, staid life and a young, college girl is definitely not in his plans.
But fate has other ideas. Their first meeting was a bit rocky, but I liked it. It was the classic right place, right time, nothing you can do about it but give in, scenario. It helped me to remember that everything is about timing. When the time is right, you'll meet the last one you ever expected.
I enjoyed the secondary characters as well; their stories were interwoven nicely in The Last One, not distracting from Sam and Meghan's story.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I enjoyed reading The Last One. Tawdra Kandle's writing is sarcastic and crude at times, but I think that's what I found amusing about it. The story allowed for the fairytale-like workings of fate to come into play without making the love affair seem unrealistic. I adored Sam's character; a rough-around-the-edges country boy with a big heart. It took Meghan a little while to grow on me, but she eventually did. Despite the obvious chemistry between them, it was really entertaining to see Sam try to resist the inevitable. Kandle did a superb job painting a picture of the town and all the people in it. It wasn't hard to find yourself attached to the other characters in the book as well by the end of that summer. I was actually sad for all of them when it came time for Meghan to go back to Savannah. In summary, humor, romance, drama and some good old fashion sex can all be found within this novel; everything you expect from a good romance. I am looking forward to reading some of Kandle's other work.
This book should come with a warning that you should have tissues and a fan handy! Meghan and Sam's story made me laugh, cry, and fan my face from all the heat between these two characterws.
Meghan is a sweet girl with a fiery passion. She takes her new summer job very seriously, and she takes getting to know Sam on a deeper level even more serious. I enjoyed Sam's stubbornness in the beginning. It was able to let us dig deeper into him as a character and really learn why he acted the way he did at times.
This book is written well, true to what we've come to expect from this author. I've read all of her books, and each time I pick a new favorite, she blows it out of the park by writing one that I love more!
I highly recommend The Last One. It's a great story that shows you that sometimes love comes along when you're least expecting it.
These four stars aren't just plain stars - they are bright and sparkling.
I won't deny it, this novel does start out rather slow but it quickly picks up its pace. And as soon as it does you won't be able to put this read down. Addictive - that's what I'd call it. Addictive, cute, adorable and pretty cheesy - but cheesy in its very best way. There isn't much to say about the characters, the plot or the writing style. The characters seemed very alive, I loved both Meghan and Sam as narrators and I absolutely adored them as a couple. The plot maybe isn't the most extraordinary or surprising but I was fine with that. So this really is THE perfect light and easy summer read and that's exactly what I've been looking for. But - and this is a warning - it might cause a lack of sleep.
I couldn't put this down! Meghan's fiery temper and Sam's jaw clenching mask of self control make for a combustible story that is both sweet and smoking hot! I fell in love with all the characters easily, and enjoyed that this wasn't a simple love story where they meet, there is chemistry and they just go for it. Instead they struggled with their own inner dialogue and demons, and came out fighting anytime they couldn't trust their own instincts. I could easily re-read this story!
This is the first Tawdra Kandle book I have ever read and now I'm hooked!!!
"As she begins her final summer of college, Meghan's looking for excitement and maybe a little romance. Nothing serious; this girl just wants to have fun. But the only man for Meghan turns out to be the last one she expects."
This was Not what I expected at all, I read a lot of romance type books and this was far better!! I love the writing, I felt so connected to everyone, they became so real like I was right there with them!!
I cannot wait for the books to follow!! A must read!!!
I was 10% in the story when I know I'm gonna be hooked. Sam's entrance is very natural. It's real life based. You know how people meet, they don't instantly feel the sparks fly. Just a feeling that remains after the initial meeting. Then you'll shrug it off coz you're never gonna see each other. That's how it really goes.
Sam and Meghan get off on the wrong foot. He gets a first impression of her that is less than stellar on a night when she was stressed and needed to enjoy life for a change. Fate intervenes and they meet again and have to spend a lot of time together. This next time, they get it right. :) It was a sweet story.
