Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound.
She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

"Pretend for Me" is the story of Sara and Andy.

This is the story of two long term friends who decide to take their relationship to the next level and explore their attraction when the H is forced to be the h's pretend boyfriend for a family gathering. They bang like bunnies, fall in love but are separated when the h's snobby family questions his lack of excess finances. The H then chooses to run away, instead of fighting for their love, while the h writes books *cough* sad sonnets *cough* about him, crying for his lurve and yearns for him to come back. The H is far away (with their dog) growing a beard and staying away to give miss debbie downer chance with a better and richer man. After a sissy ass tale of whining and eyeroll worthy drama, they reunite and find their HEA.

Boring, long with barely tolerable MCs. Why tf was the H tomcatting and the h having other partners when they were insanely attracted to one another?! MIND BOGGLED!

Sappy and contrived.

It was a decent read if you can get past all of the immaturity, sappiness and contrived atmosphere of the book. Two people in denial and a fasted paced story made it mildly unrealistic.

Otherwise, it’s okay.

3.5 but not rounded up.

Sam Crescent is an occasional read for me and of the hit and miss variety...this book was a hit though. The sex is always good with Sam Crescent, the male characters are definitely well characterised but as a woman the women aren't always relatable to me, nor are the plots and events. However sometimes I just want some hot heterosexual enjoyment without any criminal enterprises or kink and this particular book hit that nail on the head. Pretty damn hard and well. So a fair 3.5 stars but not really enough to round it up to 4 stars for goodreads.

Awwwww. First, this is a fake boyfriend story. I know we're all tired of that trope, but in the end this got really sweet.

Sara (romance writer, rich family) and Andy (owns nightclubs, commitment allergy) have been neighbors for 5 years. In the past 2 years they've become really close. They share keys to each other's apartments. She cooks for him a lot. They watch movies and hang out. They both have crushes on the other but have never wanted to take that step that could ruin their awesome friendship if something went wrong.

So she has an ex that her parents keep pushing her to marry because he's rich just like her family. Instead she brings Andy to her sisters rehearsal dinner where her family treats him like crap. When they get back home her family sets out to destroy his career. When they return for the wedding, things go to hell in a handbasket.

Their love is really sweet. Not nearly enough sex for my preference, but when is it ever? He absolutely loves her and there is no OW or OM. In the end, when they go through the angst, I cried. I wish the epilogue had been a little longer.

I was originally going to give this 3 stars because I missed the sex and the story of fake lovers is played out, but the sweetness at the end won me over. I loved Andy.

Finally!!!!

So I have read 12 books by this author. The Trojan MC series was my introduction and I have to day The I was not overly impressed. I was hoping that by the end of the series it would improve, it didn't. Then I read a few stand alone one of which I could not through the first chapter before I applaud myself that I only downloaded the sample and not the book vector was awful!
That being said I read the premise for Pretend for Me and I was intrigued. Then I read the sample and was hopeful. I completed the book and it pulled every emotion an author hopes to give its audience. I laughed, I got angry, I cried and I fell in love. I loved the fact the H and H did not jump into bed after the first chapter. I loved that they actually built a friendship before they became lovers.
It only took 12 books but I can finally say WELL DONE!!! I am proud to say Sam Crescent you finally figured out that there are other words to be use than the word SLAMMED which was used repeatedly in all 11 that I read. I am very glad you found a thesaurus☺

Sweet sweet read

Love this story from friends to lovers. Sweet and very heartfelt. The h and H are meant for each other and nothing can stand in their way. The h stood up to her family which I love since in Sam Crescents later books the h was weak.

I really liked this book, pretty enjoyed it.
It felt very different, there was lust but it wasn't overdo.
A sweet story about friends becoming benefits but the benefit came because of faking. It wasn't a straight to the line story but it wasn't a kind of story that had drama over drama, just enough for a real enjoyment.
Down to earth peoples versus not so cool people but overall were hell bent into the protection thing.
My review feels like a coding, it's just because I really don't want to spoil the book. I didn't expect to like this book that much, I read Sam Crescent but that author got a style, not that I'm complaining, just book that are good but with a particular style that for me, help me to get off from other readings.

I liked the premise of this story. Which wasn't bad at all. I was curious of how this would be pulled off. She pulled it of great actually. But the reason I gave this one three instead of my usual five, that is I really couldn't help but think that Sara was just more than a little bit naive. She should have been more of a realist. also a bit more of a character. Not just throw tantrums well what seems like little tamtrums, when she is trying to make a point. Andy was just a hot womanizer player you name it. I liked that he couldn't resist falling for her. He was a coward at times though. I was really surprised. The heat was on a slow simmer. The sex was heated. Made me blush.

Loved this book I thought it's just like some of her books I read, the plot and the ending is similar but after reading I realize it has its roller coaster ride. I'm so happy that the author's writing skills is improving I like how she begins and ends it for me it's a so far so good read it's getting well and I like it her dubious characters can make better at the end, while reading I'm like watching a tv series and the ending became a good person I'm amazed and pleased. I recommend this book to any girl who loves romantic story I assure you reader it's a worthy read

Andy and Sara have been friends forever when Sara needs a favor from Andy. The lines between friends and lovers get blurred. Sara and Andy have outside influences trying to keep them apart. I like how Sara tries to go on with her life when it things start to crumble. Sara was such a trooper and Andy finally had to take a stand or face the consequences. This was a really good story and I'm wondering if we will hear more about their friends!

3.5 stars.

I got a bit frustrated with Sara's character at around 14% but things eventually settled and got better. Her family were beyond awful. Andy was gorgeous. The epilogue was sweet although slightly cliche and perhaps a bit cheesy but not in a bad way. The furry friend is a cute addition.

I liked this- it was cute, their attraction was strong. Her family was extremely frustrating though and I'm kinda pissed she never told them about what happened with Dylan. I feel like so much could have been avoided.

Best

This book was great. The love between the hero and heroine was wonderful. The hate between the hero and heroine's family was made quite real. Could not put the book down. A must read.

Slow read, no cheating HEA. Open for other books with side characters, don't know if there are any though.
