The oldest of three sisters, Jewels Stone takes care of everyone, especially those she loves. When she finds out the youngest Stone is duped, she plans to rope and wrangle the cowboy to teach him a lesson on how to treat a woman. Tied to a bedpost and as mad as a hornet, Spark Ryder wants to toss Jewels over his knee and spank her. Problem is, he’d enjoy it too much. Held hostage by rope and wax strips, he tries to convince her that she has the wrong cowboy. But how can he convince her that he’s innocent when she’s out to settle a score against all men? While seeking revenge, Jewels finds a passion that’ll have her hanging by a dream. The pressure is too much and loose threads holding the past begin to unravel. Her brain urges her to run while her heart wishes to stay. Spark wants nothing but distance with Jewels, but when things start to heat up on the Rhinestone Ranch, he samples Jewels’ treasure and finds himself on the wrong end of the rope again—but it’s his soul that’s bound to a woman who will never trust. He wants to stitch her broken heart, but will he walk before his own heart is in need of mending?
Rhonda Lee Carver is a bestselling author of contemporary western and romantic suspense, but she loves to write other genres too. She's known for writing stories that keep readers laughing, crying, gripping the edge of their seats, and screaming all in one book...like riding a virtual roller coaster. Whether she's creating sexy cowboys or tough guys, or sassy, independent heroines, readers are sure to find strong, powerful, memorable characters that are relatable.
By day, she taps into her creative, fictional world but at some point she transitions back into reality where she's a volleyball-stands cheerleader, homework virtuoso (at least she thinks so), amateur nurse to skinned knees, mediocre chef with some awesome microwave skills, pet-guru (all the strays show up at her house), and a Jackie of all trades for her kids who are the loves of her life. Yoga and chocolate keep her sane. Hallmark movies require cuddling up with tissues because she can be emotional. She adds a sprinkle of her own real-life adventures in each story she spins because a little truth never hurt anyone. She wouldn't give up one thing in her crazy, chaotic, ever-amusing life, except, she might do magic tricks for the bungalow on the beach she's had her eye on (GOALS).
Writing for Rhonda is like falling in love and finding a new best friend over and over again. Her characters will find a place inside your heart too.
I forgot how much I love Rhonda's characters and stories. Jewels and Spark are each lovable and endearing in their own right. Jewels is recovering from a bad relationship and decides to get back at the man that jilted her baby sister. She planned to set Spark up, take advantage as well as revenge. He recognises her as his new boss's daughter, but lets her talk him iinto a bit mare than he intended. The result? Hilarity!!!!! Proof that a woman scorned is one thing - but tick of her sister...you're a very brave soul. Once the fact finding mission, identities are revealed and the true story behind the little sister's exploits are revealed, the attraction and chemisty are barely restrained. I think that there is more sneaking around in this book than I have seen from grown adults in a very long time, but the reasonings are solid and each ones beliefs behind them credible. You gotta love the lack of communication in books. This was a fast, fun, and entertaining read that I would highly recommend. I laughed and had my "AW" moments as well.
A woman sets out to right a wrong and seek revenge on a man who hurt her sister. Who knew that meeting a cowboy would change her life forever.
This was a fun story to read. It's the traditional mistaken identities with a hot and sexy twist. I l really liked Spark. He had the makings of an honorable cowboy and gentleman who knew how to treat a lady. I enjoyed the push/pull the two of them had.
"Under Pressure" (Rhinestone Cowgirls Book 1) by Rhonda Lee Carver is a great read. I enjoyed Jewels and Stone's story. This story had humor, passion, hot cowboys, romance, close family, and more. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series. Recommend to all fans of romance, cowboys, and series.
WOW! A tall handsome cowboy and a little ball of fire. When Jewels seeks revenge for her baby sister, it turns out she targeted the wrong cowboy, or did she? Sparks fly between the two after the misunderstanding, but when she finds out that Spark is the new hired hand, he is off limits. Her dad doesn't allow his daughters to socialize with the help. Can Jewels go against her dad to get what she wants? Will Spark give up his job to be with her? This is a must read.
Writing style/dialogue was difficult for me to follow. I felt like I was reading something written by someone whose first language is not English. There were some really funny lines that I did like, so it wasn't all bad. Some of the following "gems" just didn't work for me:
Dropping his mouth to hers in a sideways angle, he buried his tongue deep into her moist cave, lapping up her sweet cotton candy flavor mixed with a hint of beer."
"I could see the yearning in your eyes, feel the heat in your body and smell the scent of sweet juicy pu$sy.” Note: Ewww!
the door opened and Clay walked in.... Note: How did he get into the motel room with no key card?
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was the first book that I have ever read by Rhonda Lee Carver and it won't be my last. Jewels is a young woman who has suffered a really bad break up, finding her boyfriend in the arms of another young girl. She moves home, to the ranch, with her two sisters and her father. Being the eldest, she has always felt responsible for her sisters and when she find that her youngest sister was treated badly by a cowboy, she sets about to teach the guy a lesson. Spark is the guy she is looking for, or so she thinks. The way she gets her revenge had me chuckling.
Living on the Rhinestone Ranch required following Joshua Stone’s rules. Jewels, the oldest of three girls raised by their daddy, was only trying to protect her youngest sister when she broke the rule that would get a hired hand fired on the spot. What was Jewels thinking when she tied up the cowboy? What happens when she finds out it was a case of mistaken identity? The emotions, sassiness, and sex are all running hot! Sizzling hot!! This is the first book in the series. It is an easy and fun read.
Once again Rhonda delivers a hot sensitive cowboy with a strong vivacious leading lady. Jewels and Spark had a forbidden "relationship " after a night of mistaken identity, is that what appealed to them? Or was it more? It's human nature to want something you can't have, but can they have it if they really want it. Or have they hidden behind the rules, screw the rules and just enjoy the ride
I loved this book. It is a well written story. I encourage everyone to get this book. It is worth your time and effort. A quirky romance that has a girl with a rope. I got some laughs out of this book. I loved these characters, Jewels shows you don't mess with a girls sister. Spark doesn't know what hits him. This is an enjoyable book to read. Another hit from Rhonda Lee Carver.
Ms. Carter is a new to me author but I thoroughly enjoyed this fast, sexy read. It was sexy, emotional and kept me engaged. I'm looking forward to the next in this series.
