** Book 2 of the Prom Impossible Series! ** Prompossible Plans: the guys have their say!
Follow Cassidy’s senior year from the perspective of Zeke, Jasper, and Michael as they fight their own battles, make mistakes, and fall in love with the same girl.
Laura writes about spies, murder, and mystery. She’s the author of the exciting Circle of Spies Series, the Prom Impossible Series, and the Heist time travel mystery series. She’s a former elementary teacher and currently lives in New England. After spending time reading books to her kids and loving a good plot turn, she put her fingers to the keyboard. Don’t ask her about the unfinished quilts and scrapbooks. Stories are way more exciting.
She writes to entertain and experience a great story…and to be able to work in her jammies and slippers.
The Holly Hart Cozy Mystery Series releases starting in May 2015!
This book was one of those light hearted easy reads that you can finish within a couple of days. It was funny and romantic and just a typical teen read. I can't wait to read the third and final book in the trilogy to see what happens!
A book from the guys' perspective? Count me in! If you read my review of Prom Impossible, then you know I thought it was SO cute. I loved Cassidy's antics, but I know we were all thinking…what, exactly, were the guys thinking through all of this?? Well, now we get to know! This story spans the same amount of time as Prom Impossible, ending on the same scene (albeit from a different perspective). Zeke takes the first part, Jasper has the middle part of the story, and Michael finishes us off. I actually started this, and then went back to reread Prom Impossible so that all of the events would be fresh in my mind.
Zeke: This was cute. We know from the reformed bad-boy persona that Cassidy sees that there is way more to this boy than meets the eye. Here, we get to see Zeke's initial thoughts about Cassidy as well as their time together in the Adventure Program. It was an interesting perspective. We truly get to see all sides of Zeke and what he's going through, as well as his backstory.
Jasper: This one was my favorite. Jasper has so many sides to him, and let's face it, they weren't all positive. I enjoyed getting to see his perspective, on why he agreed to the fake dating with Cassidy etc. We also get to see him interact with his family and little siblings which was adorable. I really liked getting to see Jasper from his own perspective. I just wish we got a few more events from his POV, like when he was being a complete jerk. AND we finally get the story behind the moccasins ;)
Michael: Although Michael was Cassidy's fixed obsession in book 1, we didn't really get to know much about him. Well, he really is a super-geek. I didn't feel that connected to him. I do appreciate getting to know him more and what he was thinking, but I don't know, I couldn't really muster up any sympathy for him.
All in all, this was a cute and perfect companion to Prom Impossible. I enjoyed getting to see the story through their eyes. Although there were a few events I would have rather seen from a different perspective, it flowed well and I enjoyed it.
I received an eARC from the author, this did not affect my honest opinion. This review first appears on The NerdHerd Reads
This book is the companion to Prom Impossible and it follows the viewpoints of Zeke, Jasper and Michael as they too make it through the hardest year Cassidy has ever had.
Firstly, we start with Zeke. He is by far the character that I was the most interested in. He's a real hothead at times and I truly wanted to understand why and how things made him so mad and so changeable. His viewpoint actually dealt with a whole other side to him; the part that wallows in his fathers imprisonment and tries not to go down the same path. While the book did show some reasoning behind his volatile temperament, this was much more about knowing who he is underneath all that, and seeing that he liked Cassidy all along.
Second up was Jasper, who was actually kind of nice until he dug himself a giant hole by being a general ass. I still don't understand that boy. Third was Michael, whose viewpoint was nice but perhaps not even essential except to show his realisation that he actually did like Cassidy after all.
Saying all of that, the voices of these characters were great and they we so distinctive. You can truly understand why Zeke says some pretty terrible things as he is a very emotional character, and we really get a feel for that here. Michael's voice really came alive with references to The Lord of The Rings and Star Trek, whilst Jasper's obvious narcissism was just perfect.
I would have really liked a little bit more of Zeke. Since the viewpoints were split up to cover the year in three sections and three voices, the book felt pretty solid, but I would have liked to see the other boys interjecting a little, maybe alternating. For example, nearing the end it would have been great to get Jasper's point of view instead of Michael's. We got a peek of Zeke's romantic side, but we would have seen way more if it was his viewpoint in the giant heart scene.
The book was short and could have had a lot more packed in, but it was enjoyable all the same. I am really looking forward to more of Cassidy in the next book, Covert Kissing. Now we know where everyone stands, I can tell it's going to be one heck of a summer for her.
After reading Prom Impossible (read my review here) I wanted to know more about the three guys who got involved with the cute, rambling and delusional Cassidy. And when the author asked me to review Prompossible Plans, a companion novella told from the guys' perspective, I was more than happy to read it!
Zeke, Jasper and Michael have their say in this novella; it was nice to learn about their background, and without any doubts Zeke was my favorite of the trio. He was the only one who truly wanted to get to know Cassidy, and even though he was afraid to end up in jail like his dad, I don't think that will be his fate. As for Jasper, he surprised me with his big brother role. I didn't expect him to have that sweet and tender side, and I think that he could have been a great great guy if he wasn't too proud and full of himself. Lastly there was Michael, who was my least favorite of the three. He ignored Cassidy the whole year and suddenly the day of prom he saw the light and realized that she was the one? Nope. Just no. He was so annoying and foolish, and I truly didn't like him.
I also had an issue with the story; I didn't like how it was divided into three parts, each one told by a different character. I think I would have enjoyed Prompossible Plans more if the narrator varied from chapter to chapter.
From the way the story is going, it seems like Jasper and Michael will do anything to win Cassidy's heart, but I truly hope Cassidy doesn't mess up her relationship with Zeke! Now I'm both curious and anxious to read what will happen in Covert Kissing!
I received a copy of Prompossible Plans from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Zeke's we learn some more about his background Jasper's who is not the guy you thought and Micheal's sorry boy you're a little to late not rooting for you at all
Guess who I liked most? the guy I hated in book one Jasper. But I want her her to be with Zeke.
I enjoyed reading the original storyline from the three guy's perspective. Love Zeke, but think I love Jasper more! Please tell me Jasper will have his own story, maybe? Please?
