War had come at last. Zane stood ready to man the defense.
He and the other heroes of earth were charged with defending a perilous stretch of space known only as the Frontier. Hordes of long-forgotten Monsters would pummel them, breaking free from the mysterious Dungeon X to terrorize the galaxy once more.
But with great danger came great opportunity.
For the first time in living memory the System Store was unlocking, granting incredible bounties to whoever could slay the most Monsters.
Zane was more than up to that task.
But the more of a threat he showed himself to be, the bigger the target on his back.
The Monster Overlord knew what he’d become. And it’d created a monster bred to take him down, the hunter that hunted hunters. A creature that might just be strong enough to end him for good…
Don't miss this action-packed blend of LitRPG Apocalypse and Xianxia perfect for fans of Defiance of the Fall, The Primal Hunter, and Road to Mastery!
Much better on giving the hero more character. It's easier now to see he's being portrayed as a strong silent type versus a lug head as in previous books. Better character development overall.
The way of the rock is mysterious, it's secrets ever shifting. The legends brought down by the way of the rock may not be firm believers but, they will never forget the Bonk that started them down their humble path 😂. Thank you for the book.
Some typos, highlighted for a hopeful future edit. That said, I’ll take typos if the books keep coming out this fast. Nothing epic, just a fun OP romp through the stars.
Zane's role/part in the SUMMIT while on Australia was brilliantly hilarious!
He manages to get a chuckle or three out of me in each book, but I very much enjoyed Zane being featured more, with Reina's steady support on the occasions he got pushed past his danger zone (under 25% in health). Zane's independent interactions proved he has adapted to using his tactical & strategic skills, though I couldn't stop giggling when he almost desperately invented his personal Martial Arts Technique of the Rock for both his cover story on Astra and his fighting style. The best part was how he got away with, performed, and sold this special "technique" at a much lower talent and strength level. Zane imposed exceptional control & masking of his immense aura, soul, and strength on himself with impeccable consistency, for the most part. He did struggle against a few amazingly gifted fighters who sensed his true power base, largely because he wanted to keep his real powers, rank, & abilities disguised.
Moreover, I liked Zane's distance from Reina's in this one, although they still maintained their sexual exploration & practice relationship (Kama Sutra?), without the repetitive details that laid out Reina's uncomfortably massive dependency & need for Zane. She literally saves his life a few times, but interactions & scenes were sweet, without being corny or ridiculous.
The author has a genius level mastery for creative world building, character development & diversity, as well as a wild imagination, skill, & an affinity for tactical, systemic, & battle formations, that translate into applied strategies & techniques between fighters. Marvelously entertaining: if you haven't started this series yet, you absolutely will not regret delving into Zane's fantastical, meteoric journey to the top rankings in the world & universe. Maximum stars, in spite of the typos & other errors in format, syntax, etc. (Barely noticeable). Great writing, overall.
The spelling and writing of this book is awful, random words in sentences. Ridiculous battle scenes. I'm not even 300 pages in and it's annoying the heck out of me.
Spoiler: We're having a space battle near the astroid belt in the solar system vast emptiness surrounding us and it's so fierce it destroys 3 planets and caves in a forth. What planets, where did they come from how did they get there. No explanation just insanity. Now if he's destroying some asteroids or some moons that maybe makes sense. But it's god awful visualization. I feel like this book was written by a child.
