Smudge the Cat #1

Misty Hollow Cat Detective

Rate this book
Have you ever wondered what Smudge the cat gets up to while Darcy Sweet is out and about solving mysteries? Well, it seems he is Misty Hollow's one and only mystery solving cat detective. Here are just a few of his stories!

The Letter: When Smudge's friend, Twistypaws, comes to him for help he can't say no to the beautiful girl cat he has a major crush on. Her owner is in trouble and it seems that Smudge is the only one that can get him out of it, with Darcy's help of course.

The Rat's Trail: It's Smudge to the rescue when Rolo the timid cat has a rat problem. Why would a rat be trying to evict Rolo from his home? Smudge is on the case to find out.

The Sparkly: Corvin the crow is beside himself when he loses a special sparkly people feather he was going to give his new girlfriend. Smudge must find out what happened to it and get it back for Corvin.

Stealing Heidi: Twistypaws enlists Smudge's help when she receives an SOS from Jocko the guinea pig. It seems that his owner's belongings are going missing one by one. It's up to Smudge to work out what's going on.

The Circle of Life: Smudge the cat has only eight lives left. We learn how he lost the ninth life and it's not how you might think.

I've had this for a while but put off reading because I thought it would be too silly. But with the 2020 social isolation dragging into May, I decided silly sounded pretty good.
It turned out to not be silly, but sweet and witty and heartwarming, especially for a cat lover. It was an easy and fun read that I really needed right now.
So I'm off to read the next one.

Snel te lezen, vlotte verhalen vanuit het standpunt van een kat. Ik heb een paar keer hardop gelachen met de kat zijn commentaren.

This Book is OMG Funny

This is a book written from a cat's perspective. Smudge is a helpful cat who believes in helping anyone in trouble, no matter the species. It also has a little romance between Smudge and Twistypaws, a pretty girl cat. If you like cats you will definitely enjoy this.

A cat’s eye view of Misty Hollow!

This is a series of shorts about Smudge, Darcy Sweets cat and partner in investigating mysteries in Misty Hollow. It isn’t only people who ask for help, sometimes it is the animals asking Smudge to help their owners. The stories are quick and cozy and Smudge is a dedicated sleuth and crime fighter. This is a fun read with mystery and a little kitty romance.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

This book is a collection of 5 short stories told by Smudge, a cat who solves mysteries for the animals of Misty Hollow who are in need of help.
Smudge is the cat of Darcy Sweet, who has a cozy mystery series of her own. While ironically I can't stand Darcy as I find her TSTL, I really loved reading about Smudge.

The animals in the story have unique personalities and even though they can "talk" with each other (but not to humans), the remain animal personalities without becoming "little anthro humans". I thought that aspect of the book was very well written!

It's a quick read, but very entertaining. I hope to see more of this series!

I was really looking forward to this book where its more about Smudge than his human but i was really disappointed i dont know if my expectations were to high or if the book really was that bad. Its a series of short stories written in the simplest way i would say this would be more suited to young people rather than adults

Cute snippets, funny and so entertaining.

I do think the last short piece should have been the first short piece. My opinion only. I really enjoyed this collections of 'cat & friends frolicking' in Misty Hollow!

Cute set of stories starring Smudge from the Darcy Sweet Misty Hollow series, as a cat detective.
It's funny reading about his adventures & his interactions with his friends. A perfect piece of fluff to read when you tire of reading more serious tomes.
