Robert M. Kerns (or Rob if you ever meet him in person) is a geek, and he claims that label proudly. Most of his geekiness revolves around Information Technology (IT), having over fifteen years in the industry; within IT, he especially prefers Servers and Networks, and he often makes the claim that his residence has a better data infrastructure than some businesses.

Beyond IT, Rob enjoys Science Fiction and Fantasy of (almost) all stripes. He is a voracious reader, with his favorite books too numerous to list.

Rob has been writing for over twenty years, and "Awakening" is his debut novel.

Great addition to the series

Nice continue to build to the finding of earth. The hints are evident but it is still a good reading ride to get to it. Definitely want to see where this story goes. Looking forward to next book. Thank you for your dedication to writing and putting out books in a timely manner like it is a job. Very much appreciated!!!

Can't keep the pace

As expected, this story is about the defense of Luxeen. At first the story keeps the pace, there's a lot of emphasis on Alex not doing things the conventional way or the "Navy" way. Got a little boring to keep hearing the same thing recited repeatedly. We then get into the development of the battle plan, and it's just wrong. There's so many last minute things being developed when one asks "why wasn't this thought of before?" More than usual grammatical errors. The Lolly Song kept popping in my head. "Buy your adverbs here." Many excess words, words out of order, misspelled words. Seemed that a final reading had not been performed. Story is still interesting despite this. Looking forward to meeting Lucy.

Sorry Kerns. Your idea of rhe size of merchant sparetips suksess. Figure out how many metric tons one ounce of suppleres for a colony populasjon of 50 million wpuld be in tons. For comparitoin, a medium sized seilskip 19th century, brigantine, went up to a thousand tons. Also number of escorts and fee does not correspond with the total. And compared with your other series that I have enjoyed, Alex is too clueless concerning sex.

Not as good as the first two books in the series. The first two-thirds of the book seem like padding, to get to the rear-third that actually had the core action and plot. Perhaps this should have been a short story. Alex, the character, has not evolved very much in new settings and situations. No one could be this hopeless about people and have so tiny an internal life. Not sure about continuing with the series.
