Take a trip down south and discover just how hot those sultry, southern nights can get with the Boys of the South series by New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Marquita Valentine.

In small towns, dirty little secrets don’t remain secret for long…

Everyone loves Parker Morgan, especially the high society ladies who pay thousands for his time. Becoming a male escort hadn’t been something Parker wanted to do, but when his family needed money to survive, he compromised everything he believed in to make ends meet. But there are two things he refuses to do—one, be paid for sex. Two, let himself fall for his beautiful new neighbor. She’s too pure and sweet for him. And that sadness in her eyes… he doesn’t want to know the cause of it. He has too many problems of his own.

A war widow at only twenty-two, Brooklyn Reeves has lived a shadowed existence for two years. Desperate to start over, she moves to Forrestville, never dreaming her new neighbor would be so sexy—not that she wants a relationship of any kind with him. Besides, he’s completely hostile and rude anytime they run into one another. Unfortunately, he’s also her handyman, and she’s forced to repeatedly call on him when one thing after another goes wrong with her rental house.

But as spring turns to summer, Brooklyn begins to sees a new side to Parker—one that makes her reconsider her opinion of him. Sparks fly, igniting a hunger that neither of them can resist.

But are either of them prepared for the consequences, once Parker’s dirty little secret comes to light?

Need You Tonight by Marquita Valentine
Book #7: Boys of the South Series

My Rating: 5/5 stars
My Review:

Yes, dear reader, this is the book we have all been waiting for! PARKER!!! For six long reads we have been teased and taunted with little snippets of Parker Morgan. He has been the boy to love his sister unconditionally, come to his brother’s side without fail and without question, work like a dog to help his family and, sneak off time and again to who knows where with little to no explanation. For six long reads we have wondered, hypothesized and, speculated about Parker and now we know the truth!!

At 15 years old, Parker Morgan knew his family was in trouble. His mother, Crystal was a train wreck waiting to happen (again and again) who had little to no desire to actually be a mother to her children. After all of the moves, the past due bills they simply couldn’t pay, the collection agencies coming to his door and, going hungry on more than one occasion, Parker decided to take matters into his own hands. Even at 15, Parker knew he was pretty and he certainly never lacked for female attention so when an opportunity to make a lot of money cropped up, Parker took the deal. Over the course of the next several years, Parker used his looks and his body to please his very wealthy clients. As an extremely high-end escort, Parker made loads of cash and ensured that his family had a roof over their, their bills were paid and, they had food on the table each and every day. Given the circumstances they were used to, Parker’s family asked very few questions about where the money was coming from and as the years wore on, Parker was happy to keep his dirty little secret.

Brooklyn Reeves never imagined her life would have something other than a happy ending. The day the men arrived on her front porch to tell her that her husband of three short years wouldn’t be coming home alive, all her illusions were shattered and her world was turned upside down. For two years, Brooklyn has lived with the ghost of her husband and the memories of what they once shared. Her grief has crippled her at times but she is finally feeling strong enough to begin taking baby steps toward reclaiming her life. Her first baby steps? A move to Forestville, find a job, make some new friends and, with any luck somewhere waaaaay down the road, a man to share her life with. No longer a naïve young girl, Brooklyn knows the move is going to be a very hard but very necessary step toward her eventual happiness and she is finally willing to take the risk. Within hours of moving to town, Brooklyn encounters what is very likely the most stunning man she has ever seen, Parker Morgan. By coincidence, Brooklyn has moved into the house once occupied by his brother’s grandmother-in-law – that a thing, right? – and Parker has been enlisted by his brother to look after the new tenant and serve as the property handyman.

From the moment he meets Brooklyn, Parker is certain of a few things: she is desperately sad, she is desperately lonely, she is the most strikingly beautiful woman he has ever encountered and, he is in no way good enough for her especially given his past. With each encounter, Parker becomes more attached to Brooklyn and convinced that she is the woman God made just for him. His feelings for Brooklyn are strong and if he can just drum up enough courage to tell her about his past, then maybe, just maybe she will accept him. For Brooklyn, Parker is a confounding man who, on the one hand runs very hot and other seems to be pushing her away. Her feelings toward Parker grow very, very quickly and this, of course, causes Brooklyn a great deal of guilt and confusion. Though she understands she can’t remain alone forever, Brooklyn also has a hard time accepting that after only two years, she has met a man she can love as much as she loved her first husband. In many ways, Parker and Brooklyn’s road to an HEA is one of the hardest yet to be experienced by one of the Boys of the South.

The Bottom Line: SO. WORTH. THE. WAIT. Parker has intrigued me from the very beginning and Valentine has done an excellent job of keeping Parker’s dirty little secret under wraps the entire time. With all the teasing and the taunting over so many reads, I expected something huge for Parker and that is exactly what I got. I devoured this story and truly had no idea how much I adored Parker until I dove into this read. Though Parker certainly doesn’t think so, he is an honorable and good man who is more than deserving of Brooklyn and her love. Parker has a controlled aggression that I really liked and it played well with Brooklyn, a character who wants to move forward with her life but is almost terrified to do so. Brooklyn is a beautiful balance to Parker and once all the cards are on the table, there is no stopping those two. Additionally, Parker and Brooklyn are likely the hottest couple to date in the Boys of the South series. Parker has a wonderfully dirty mouth that he very much enjoys using on Brooklyn. Seriously, I bookmarked a few of those passages  In all, I am still completely thrilled with the Boys of the South series and have no difficulty recommending it to all NA+ readers.

Need You Tonight - Marquita Valentine

5 stars

Okay so if you know me you know I love me some M. Valentine. Girl can write a book. Love her.
This, the 6th book in the Boys of the South series, sits right at the top of the list of favorites of hers.

Parker Morgan is just an over all good guy who did some unsavory things when he was younger to help his family get by. Getting out the business he was in was a bit tougher than he thought it would be. He wanted to make sure he had enough money to take care of himself, his brother and sister, moms rehab bills, and still have enough to move away from Forrestville. His secrets were running him out of town. He had just quit his line of work when his brother notified him that a widow was moving into his wife's grandmothers vacant house and he would be needed for her handyman and help watch out for her.

Brooklyn lost her Marine husband, Braden, in the war. She'd only been married 3 years and had a whole lot more married life to lead. Unable to get over his death and still hurting over it she never moved on with her life heartbroken and alone, 2 years later she finally made a move to Forrestville to maybe start a new life for herself.

Parker was beyond rude when he met Brooklyn at the house to deliver her keys but he sure didn't miss the way he felt when he looked at her. But for Parker he doesn't even think of acting on those feelings. He thinks no one could love him or care about him after he reveals his secret but is he right?? Would his family turn their backs on him? Would a potential new love interest turn him away?

Brooklyn still reeling from the death of her husband is caught off guard as well by the feelings she had when she met Parker but could she turn away from Braden like that? Could she possibly love another man the way she loved Braden? Would Braden's family ever forgive her if she tried to move on?

As Brooklyn and Parker begin to spend more and more time together, the attraction grows. The desire, the want, the need - they are all so tangible in this book. You can feel the emotions and the rawness of the hurt that both of these characters endured in their lives. Oh and the hotness level - burn, baby, burn. It's that damn hot!!

There is a very serious issue that is brought up in the book and I thank Marquita for handling it in such a wonderful way. Because it does happen and it does need to be talked about more.

I love this series and cannot wait for Rowan and Seth's story in December!

Posted on What I'm Reading

Once I started Need You Tonight I was trying to figured out why I wasn't feeling such a strong attachment to Parker and Brooklyn. I mean the story was pretty good. I was crying at the first chapter and who wouldn't. Right at the very beginning Brooklyn finds out her husband died on duty. To actually go through what she did, I could relate on some level, but not completely cause I have never had that happen to me or knew anyone that has happen to. Then jumping ahead two years. Parker is finally done being an escort, and he's about to reclaim his life when Brooklyn enters his life. Lets put it this way Parker wasn't his effervescent self, more like an a-hole. It takes him a couple of tries for him to realize he was being an a-hole.

Then you have Brooklyn who has been barely managing her grief. She hadn't moved on, and that's when I realize why I was having so much trouble. Because Brooklyn hadn't fully come to terms with the death of her husband, she was still living in the past. She was so focus on trying to keep his memory alive that she forgot how to live. It wasn't until Parker called her out on it that she was able to move on. Once that happen it emotional charged the story and helped me along with the story. That was the emotional catalyst I needed to feel the story. Cause in away, I was focusing on Brooklyn and there I was stagnate. Once that break through happen a lot stuff starts to unravel at that point.

What stood out the most was Brooklyn and Parker needed each other to heal. Both of them needed each other to see things from an outside perspective without judgement. Sometimes thats not the easiest thing to find. Once Brooklyn started to move on in her grieving process is when story picks up in the emotional department. Yes, there were other emotional parts, but that was when the healing started to take place.

Overall, a pretty good read. I think Marquita did a good job on having the reader be empathetic towards Brooklyn. As I said it wasn't until Brooklyn realize she needed to move on to grow, when I felt I could move on with my feelings with the story.

Need You Tonight was a great little second chance story. It started off sad, with the death of Brooklyn's husband and her trying to cope with the loss, but we don't spend a lot of time mourning his death. I was glad to see that. If the book had stayed in the sad and depressing too long, it would have been a very different read. Instead, it was more hopeful, with a two-year time gap we didn't live along with Brooklyn. When we are introduced to her again, it's when she's moved into Forrestville and meets Parker. She's not entirely moved on from the loss, but she's willing to make changes and try to live again. There are some sad moments throughout, but overall the book has a positive and hopeful vibe. I'm glad it was that, and not overly angsty.

I loved Parker and Brooklyn together. I mean, I loved them separately, but they were even better together. Their relationship did move a little fast for me, but when it's right, it's right. I definitely wouldn't consider it instalove, more like giving in to attraction. They were both moving on from painful things in their pasts and I liked how they helped each other through, even if Brooklyn might not have known his history when they met. These two were sweet and sexy together. It wasn't all sunshine and roses, but it was real and believable.

Need You Tonight was a quick and sexy read. Fans of the series will enjoy catching up with some of their favorite characters and couples from the previous books. I know I did. Marquita Valentine's Boys of the South series has grown into one of my favorite in the genre. It's sexy and sweet with likable, relatable characters in a small-town setting that reminds me a lot of home. I'm excited to see what's next!

The Boys of the South series by Marquita Valentine is one that I have thoroughly enjoyed. The latest installment, Need You Tonight, is Parker Morgan's story, and I have been dying to read it. Parker is the brother of Cole Morgan, who we met at the very beginning of the series in Live for You and Only for You, the books that started it all. In each subsequent companion novel we have gotten to know one of the guys, who are all friends, and the girl he falls in love with. Parker Morgan has appeared in each novel and I've really grown to love him. He's had a rough life, and in Need You Tonight, we find out just how rough he has had it and the things he has felt he had to in order for his family to survive. We also get to find out just how hot, sexy, and drool-worthy he really is.

The female main character is Brooklyn Reeves, a young war-widow whose world had been shattered a few years previously. Moving to Forrestville is supposed to be her new beginning, but the last thing she expects is to meet the hot new neighbor/handyman with his panty-melting smile, eyes that mesmerize you, and broody attitude. Then again, Brooklyn is far from the old white-haired lady Parker was expecting to. There story is heartbreaking, beautiful, romantic, and of course steamy. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two characters who thought their pasts would forever keep them from loving anyone again, come together and find love despite the fear and all the hurdles, bumps, and boulders they have to face in the process. Need you Tonight is a wonderful addition to this series and is something than both fans of the series and fans of contemporary romance will want to check out.

What a read Need You Tonight was!!! We first meet Brooklyn Reeves when she finds out there her husband has been killed on his way back from war. Now two years later she comes to Forrestville to start over. Little did she know that the handyman at her house would be helping her in more ways than just fixing locks on doors.
Parker Morgan is the toast of the town, everyone wants a piece of him, they are even willing to pay for his time. Since Parker had been 15 he has been a male escort, it was something he felt he needed to do in order to help his family.
This was the first book in The Boys of the South Series that I have read and I was not disappointed. Of course now I want to read the first 5 books so I can see more of Parkers’ friend’s story, I have feeling there is a lot more to find out about them.
I though the story line for Parker was very interesting, at the young age of 15 he was taken advantage of and exploited, which we don’t see often in novels. I also thing they way he deals with his feeling and ultimately trusting Brooklyn to confide in her was great, I felt the torment he was going through and I just wanted to yell, “Tell Brooklyn the whole story!!”.
Brooklyn on the other hand wanted to just move on, but not forget the memory of her late husband. Parker allowed her to open her heart and to love again. She was right by his side the whole time, and wanted him to just open up to her. When he finally did, she was there in the end.

This is only the second book I have read in this series, although it is the sixth book in the series. But I have read almost all of Marquita Valentine’s Holland Springs series and I loved them all, just as I have loved the couple I have read of the Boys of the South series.

This story is about Parker Morgan, a young man with a troubled past who did some things he wasn’t proud of to ensure the survival of his family. He’s left that behind but will others that know let him move on? Then we have Brooklyn Reeves, a war widow at the young age on 22, she is finally trying to put her life back together two years after the death of her husband right before he was to return home. She decides to move to a new town, to start her life anew. She rents a house and Parker is her handyman, while he is getting ready to leave town. While their initial meeting is nothing if not volatile, they soon realize (each without the other knowing) that they are attracted to one another.

Things are moving along nicely, both realizing they have feelings for the other when Parker is suddenly called out of town. That’s when things really hit the fan. And you will have to read it yourself to find out what happens. If you are looking for a sweet love story, with a bit of dirt, some tear-worthy scenes and just the right amount of heat, you will want to read Need You Tonight.

As this was my first book by this author, I can truly say that she now as a major fan. I loved this book. I loved Parker and I enjoyed Brooklyn.

Parker Morgan, the over great guy that everyone loves, has a secret that has him wanting to run far away from his hometown. He plans to leave after the summer to start over fresh in another state. But as all good plans, there is always something that causes them to go array. Enter Brooklyn Reeves.

Brooklyn Reeves has been living the same life for the past 2 years. She has not been able to move on from her husband’s death. She needs to learn to let go of the guilt and pain that she has felt everyday for the past 2 years. So a move to a new house, a new town is exactly what she needs. What she wasn’t expecting was the way her body reacts to the handyman, Parker.

As Parker and Brooklyn get to know each other more each day, the attraction and desire seems to grow bigger too. Will Brooklyn be able to finally let go of her past and move forward with Parker? Can Parker let Brooklyn into his life and share his past with her? And will she still accept him after learning his secret?

I have to go back and read the rest of this series. I loved Marquita’s way of writing. And the story that she is able to tell will have you not putting the book down until the last page is turned.

Parker Morgan has lived a tough life thanks to some bad choices by his mother and recently revealed father. He has made tougher choices to help his family survive. He has a heart of gold that no one seems to have seen. Booklyn is the sweet girl who married the bad boy turned Marine, then turned widow at a young age.

This is not my first glimps of Parker as I have read almost all of the other boys of south books. This book helps clear up where he is alwasys going in some of the other stories. No matter what though you can't help but love Parker and so want him to get his happy ending with Brooklyn.

The two dance around their feelings a bit and fight their attraction but when they finally stop fighting the sparks truly fly and we are not disapointed. I loved how they related to each other and confronted so many issues. I wanted Parker to tell Brooklyn the whole story sooner, but the book would not have been as good that way so what do I know.

Overall this was a great story with loveable characters, views at past charachters from the series and a wonderful love story. I found this to be a quick read and very hard to try to put down. I have loved every book I have read by Marquita and I can't wait to see what is next!!!

Brooklyn is a widow who lost her husband in the war. A few years later she has relocated to another town to start over. Parker is the handyman who takes care of the house she rents. When they first meet he offends her and then plays hot and cold with her. He goes back and forth between not wanting to take advantage of her to thinking he isn't good enough for her. When they finally do let down their walls around their hearts, they fall hard for each other. The only problem is that Parker's past could come back to bite him and change everything for them.

My heart broke for Brooklyn when she received the news that her husband wouldn't be coming home. I just loved her as she was so very brave. Moving to a new town where she didn't know anyone and trying to navigate her life in her own way while everyone told her how she should do that. Parker is good for her in that he pushes her out of her comfort zone and reminds her how wonderful love can be. There were a few times I wanted to shake Parker, but I hurt for him too as he shared a bit about his mom. This is such a sweet and spicy love story and I loved reading about Brooklyn and Parker.

I give Need You Tonight 4 hearts!

Need You Tonight provides a highly emotional start-not just for Brooklyn but for Parker as well (even though he would claim quite the opposite). And as you get to know these characters, you can easily see that they are perfect to help each other heal and start over. The scene where the two meet in person for the first time really shows the raw emotion Brooklyn is still going through.

Watching the two of them get to know each other and slowly come together makes for an intriguing story, while you stay a bit on the edge wondering what will happen if and when Brooklyn finds out about Parker's past.

I was rooting for the two of them from the start since it was so obvious that they are meant to be together. And the smooth writing and compelling secondary characters have me wanting to go back and read the rest of the books in this series...because after reading this story, I'm surprised I haven't found this author sooner!

An emotional, romantic 4-star read, I'd recommend it for anyone who loves a story of healing and emotion with a bit of scandal thrown in for good measure.

Need You Tonight is the first book I’ve read in the Marquita Valentine’s Boys of the South series. It will not be my last. Be warned give yourself some time when you start reading this book because you will not want to put it down.

We are first introduced to Brooklyn Reeves when she finds out her marine corps husband has been killed in battle. We are introduced to Parker Morgan in a completely different way since he is a paid escort. Both have been broken by these events. When Brooklyn and Patrick meet two years later, we can see the sparks fly. Can they finding healing through loving each other and get the happiness they both deserve. Keep reading you will not be disappointed.

Let me start by saying wow. To be honest, this is the first book I've read by this author. This is one emotional, sexy, romantic book! I couldn't figure out if I wanted to cry or smile. Brooklyn and Parker are my new favorite couple.
"The taste of her is addictive. I can't help but want more."
The characters are well written and now I'm dying to go back and read about the other Boys of the South!

It was nice to see a guy with a little bit more emotional range than just pissed, protective, romantic. Parker had some serious range and it made him a better character for it. Brooklyn to me, though she thought she was weak, I felt like she was stronger than she knew. I have fallen in love with this book and am anxious to go read the rest!

Parker and Brooklyn are made for each other and not only do they make great friends but they help heal each other. Brooklyn is a widow who lost her husband (a U.S. Marine) just days before he was due home and two years later moved for a fresh start. Parker has just finished his last job as an escort and is planning on moving out of state at the end of summer. First Parker is going to help the widow moving into Miss Voilet's house but he is in for a shock when he meets Brooklyn. The ride they go on together is definitely worth the read and I recommend it!

Of note, this would have been a full on 5 star rating from me if it wasn't for the constant changing POV which I found confusing and dizzying and the many spelling errors from being an unedited ARC.

Parker and Brooklyn find each other when they are both broken down emotionally. Parker is hiding a huge secret and he his running as fast and far as he possibly can go. Brooklyn is grieving her military husband's death. Neither one is looking for love, but the physical attraction is absolutely combustible between the two of them. Can they figure out how to make it work? Will their love end before it has even had a chance?

Loving the Boys of the South Series. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books in this series.

I was given an ARC of this book in order to give an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

Loved it!

Since I've read all the previous books in Marquita Valentine's Boys of the South Series, I definitely have been looking forward to Parker's story. In this one it comes out that Parker has been working for an escort agency for years. Just as he is getting things ready to leave town at the end of summer a tenant for Miss Violet's house moves to town. Brooklyn Reeves is a war widow, who after losing her husband two years ago, finally moves to Forrestville to start a new life for herself. I recommend that you read how these two meet up and help each other heal from things in their past.

The latest in Marquita Valentine's Boys of the South series, Need You Tonight, is Parker's story. I couldn't wait to read this one! The book starts with heartache and delivers a very satisfying happy ever after.

With each Boys of the South book, Valentine continues to deliver an engaging story filled with characters the reader will want to know and remember. I loved Brooklyn and Parker, my heart hurt for both of them. The moment they meet with their reaction and attraction to the other hooked me into their story. I couldn't put Need You Tonight down until I read the final sentence.

I'm looking forward to the next in the series, Take the Fall...can't wait.

Parker is always thinking those dirty thoughts when his girl is concerned, "automatically, my mind wanders to all the ways I could show her naughty. All the ways, I could make her dirty and talk dirty." He's willing to go through a little pain so see his girl get the maximum pleasure possible, "I used to have my tongue pierced. Maybe I should re-pierce it just for you." Parker he wants to do everything for his woman, "you don't have to move in with me. I'll do whatever you want. We have time. Hell, I'm taking you out on a proper double date this Thursday with West and McKenzie. You'll-" Before I can finish, Brooklyn is kissing me." I liked Parker I loved reading this book.

Loved, loved, loved this book! Parker's story is a great addition to the Boys of the South series. Parker is ready to get out of Forrestville as soon as he can, until Brooklyn Reeve's shows up. She's a grieving widow and he knows he should stay far far away from her but he can't. The pull is too strong but is it enough to overcome her grief and his sordid past? A fantastic story that I recommend to everyone!

Brooklyn lost her husband at war. She is having a hard time moving on with life after him. Parker is a male escort who hates who he is and can't wait to leave his life behind. When he meets Brooklyn he feels an instant connection. He supports her and helps her to let go of her past in order to have a future with him. Brooklyn is faced with Parker's lies and what he has done in the past. I loved this couple. This whole series was great, but Parker and Brooklyn were one of my favorites!

Brooklyn is trying to start over. Parker is trying to get away from his past. This story is mostly about their relationship and how they helped each other heal. A light read with not too much drama. I think what could have been considered drama was skimmed over. It's really 3 1/2 stars but I gave it 4 because Parker has a dirty mouth and likes it dirty. Good epilogue with a HEA.

Between 3 1/2 and 4 Stars.

I really enjoyed Parker's book and I'm so glad I finally read it. It's very hot and steamy, but also angsty. I did feel like the falling in love part was a bit rushed, but otherwise I don't really have any complaints about this book. Valentine is a favorite author and I'll definitely be back for more of books!

This is probably my favorite book from Marquita, and I have read them all! Such a sad beginning but such a wonderful ending. The way we wish everything in life turned out. I was so glad to learn more about Parker, whom always seemed like such a mystery. Brooklyn was definitely what he needed in life, and he is the perfect addition to his.

I love this series and I've been waiting for this book for a long time. This book tore my heart apart and mended it over and over. I'm so glad we got to learn Parker's story and he truly got the ending he deserved.

Great read! The beginning made my heart hurt, but I am a big fan of series and this did not let me down! I loved the ups and downs and a good happy ending! Fans of boys of the south will remember Parker!

Brooklyn is a war widow that just move in next door to Parker is a male escort to help his family out in troubling times. Brooklyn and Parker has a lot of charisma together it captures you from the beginning and will not let you go.
