Scoring with Love #2

On Three... Baby Reed

Rate this book
What’s the harm in one night right? Darcy Whitestone thought her best friend’s wedding night was the perfect time to let loose with the one man she deemed off-limits. The Playboy was known for his disinterest in commitment and bachelor lifestyle. They would get it out of their systems and move on.

Tatum Reed never saw himself having children until he got the call from Darcy. The woman he was undeniably attracted to but couldn’t give her the commitment he thought she would want. Until she says she’s pregnant. With his child. Now that his whole life is going to change… He isn’t opposed to it.

It was only supposed to be one night. That is until six weeks later when those two pink lines popped up. Now Tatum and Darcy are forced to face their feelings while navigating parenthood together.

I've been wanting Tatum and Darcy since book one and this did not disappoint! I love that the beginning of this starts with them being MOH/Best Man for Mav and Kodi and that we get to see a lot of the friend group throughout the story! I loved that the storyline kept up with each week of the pregnancy and the chapter titles!! My favorites!! They were so fun and I loved that Katelyn wrote them that way.

Third act conflict in this book took me OUT. I was basically screaming at the two of them because?!? Other than that I had a great time reading this book and I can't wait to see where Katelyn takes the rest of the Scoring With Love series!

Tropes:
One Night Stand
Accidental Pregnancy
Found Family

HAPPY RELEASE DAY to On Three... Baby Reed!!! It's available on KU <3

Tatum and Darcy's love story was so good. They both had an attraction to the other but finally had their f-it moment during Kodi and Maverick's wedding. Six weeks later, they had a little wedding surprise. They decide to co parent and live together. Both want more but not sure if the other does as well. As they grow closer, they begin to date and fall more in love. After the birth, they both struggle with parenthood, especially Tate. Their relationship is put in jeopardy, can they come back together?

ARC kindly provided for the author in exchange for an honest review

Darcy & Tate were everything I hoped for, albeit in a different way: I'm always excited to read any book that includes the pregnancy trope because it's one of my favorites, so my expectations are ALWAYS high for these stories. But I didn't expect Katelyn Snyder to give me such a sweet, tender, loving and vulnerable storyline with these two characters (especially Tate). I loved returning to this universe; reading Kodi, Sin, Hars & Darcy together again was beautiful, and the guys were even funnier than in the first book. Plus, I loved that in On Three... Baby Reed, the author gave me even more of that found-family vibe that I loved so much in her first book, so now I'm even more in love with Katelyn's writing, and I can't wait to find out who's next in the series!

I really liked Darcy since the previous book, and I didn't expect her to be the next heroine in Scoring with Love, however, I REALLY enjoyed reading her. I loved learning more about her strained relationship with her parents, how important her friendship with Kodi is to her, and her dreams of becoming a romance writer. I also really liked her personality, how she set boundaries when necessary, how she had a sassy side that appeared early on with Tate, and how the girls ALWAYS support and love her. It was so lovely to read Darcy fitting in so well with the Reeds, forming a beautiful and tender bond with Rose, and experiencing the true love of a family with them.

And if I didn't expect Darcy to be next, I didn't even see Tate coming as one of the heroes of this series. I think he was one of the book's biggest surprises because I never imagined Tatum would be the sweet, tender, loving, thoughtful, and responsible man he portrays from the beginning of the book, especially not after everyone described him as a playboy in Shot to the Heart. One of the things I LOVED most about Tate (and the book in general) was reading the healthy and close relationship he has with his family: his parents are adorable, and the twins are SO FUN. I also really enjoyed reading about the unconditional support he receives from the guys, even Darcy's friends, and how important his friendship with Mav is to him.

Darcy & Tate have been attracted to each other ever since they met through Kodi & Mav, and I love that they both use the fact that they are the bridesmaid and best man at their best friends' wedding as an excuse to have a chance to their one noght stand! I also really liked that Katelyn shows us the connection between them in that one night, especially because it results in an unexpected pregnancy that brings Darcy & Tate even closer. Plus, I think this love story was a real heartwarming experience because this couple is one of the sweetest, most tender, and loving I've read so far this year. I also think that for the people who don't enjoy the pregnancy trope as much because they have doubts that the main characters' connection is real and not out of obligation, they will REALLY enjoy this book because their feelings for each other are there from the beginning and it's pretty obvious. Another thing I LOVED was the vulnerability that Darcy & Tate show throughout the book, how they manage to talk about what they feel, how terrified they are of the changes in their lives and the fear they feel of making mistakes, but it also shows the reality of how deep people's insecurities can be even when they are surrounded by people who love and validate them, so On Three... Baby Reed is a true gem and you won't regret reading it!

After reading Kodi and Mav’s love story, I couldn’t wait to meet Darcy and Tatum! One thing I love about interconnected series is getting the perspective of previous characters while the focus is on meeting new characters. I think Katelyn did this aspect really well and cannot wait to see how book 3 goes! Cried multiple times at the airport and on the plane throughout reading this book. Some parts hit a lil too close to home.

One of my fave parts of the book was the fun chapter titles. I feel like I had some reaction to each one, but my favorite was definitely “it could let in a child” and I fully went “is this play about me?” The “semen demon” nickname had me laughing because I, too, refer to children as that. The nicknames Darcy and Tatum gave to each other? 5 stars. No notes.

I usually avoid accidental pregnancy because it’s not a trope that I like and I don’t usually like how it is done, but I loved Shot to the Hart so much that I wasn’t going to let the trope keep me from picking up this book. The third act breakup gave me whiplash and I was READY to fight. Honestly, the resolution was a lil too nice but I know romance requires a HEA and all…

Overall, I wanted to slap Darcy’s parents and Tatum multiple times throughout the book and will forever be team Darcy!

Cute but not for me

The book was mostly okay but I just didn’t really care for any of the characters. Also, I felt like I missed way too much by not reading the first book. It seems like the author could have thrown in quick little explanations about who some characters were rather than assuming we knew the backstory.

Other than that it kept me entertained however (SPOILER)

the main issue I personally didn’t like was the kink the main characters had. Calling each other ‘mama’ and ‘daddy’ but not for the benefit of the child, but as a kink. It started out with him calling her that as some kind of pet name and I hated it immediately. It’s one thing when you’re saying it around your kids or even out of habit but before the baby is even born just made it sound weird and I cringed every time. He rarely used her real name. It was ‘D’ or ‘mama’ throughout the book. Then she started calling him ‘daddy’ and that was a turn on for him which just gave me the ick. I don’t kink shame usually but I feel like people that are turned on by that kink need to have their computers/phone searched. Just doesn’t sit right with me.
So if you also are someone who finds that kink gross then this book is not for you. It is used quite a bit in the second half.

ARC Romance Book Review

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is the second book in the Scoring with Love series

It starts off at the Wedding of the main characters two best friends. They are of course the maid of honor and the best man. Darcy (MOH) makes the joke that the maid of honor and best man are supposed to sleep together at a wedding. There has always been attraction between Darcy and Tatum since they’ve met, and this is the push they need to give into their attraction and have a one night stand.

To their surprise, this results in Darcy accidentally getting pregnant. The story continues of Darcy and Tatum going through the ups and downs of the pregnancy while trying to decide if they want to act on their growing feelings for each other.

I have been an ARC reader for both books in this series so far and each time I cannot wait until the next book is released! These characters just draw you in to want to read more about their lives.

I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series!

Tropes:

• Professional Hockey Romance
• One Night Stand
• Accidental Pregnancy
• Mentions of Anxiety
• Found Family

This was such an enjoyable read. I love that Tatum is the hockey PR guy and not an actual player of the team. Not because I don’t love hockey romances, but because it’s always fun to see the other sides of the hockey universe. Tatum starts off as your typical bachelor with no plans on settling down or having children. You really see him change the closer he gets to Darcy. It’s super sweet.

Darcy is so strong and independent. She refuses to rely on others or love too deeply. Yet, getting pregnant forces her to wear her heart on her sleeve and take the risk of relying on a significant other.

It took me a minute to process, but I love how it’s also not immediately easy for them to find their groove. Relationships take effort. Having a baby together? That’s even more pressure to making it work. It’s normal to make mistakes and after my own personal turmoil, I admit that the angsty bits were just as important as the fluff.

If you’re into the surprise pregnancy trope with a little side of found family, this is the book for you. Thank you Katelyn for letting me be a part of your ARC team! It has been great getting to know and chit chat with the team.

I have been in my surprise pregnancy/friends-to-lovers era for a minute so when I heard the plot of Katelyn’s next installment I was like “Sign me all the way up!” Darcy and Tatum were bound for each other. I mean they take their Maid of Honor and Best Man duties seriously…so much so that it ends with a baby! While the story was a bit rushed Katelyn did a great job at conveying their baby journey.

I did get upset with Tatum at the end (no spoilers) but he did redeem himself. I really liked that the characters were open and hoe st with one another. So many times there is so much unsaid between the mains that you want to scream “JUST TELL THEM ALREADY” especially with the surprise pregnancy trope. This was not the case with “On Three... Baby Reed” thankfully.

This can be read as a stand-alone but to fully grasp the team and friend group dynamics I do suggest reading Shot to the Hart first!

First of all I want to thank the author for sending me the ARC for this book.
In order to not give away any spoilers I cannot write about one of the reasons why for me this read was a 2 star. It had to do with the 3rd act breakup. I like reading about 3rd act breakups but in this case, it was badly done.
Another reason is that throughout the book even if we had dual POV the tone stayed the same.
It felt like there was no growth for the characters, the FMC was not independent as she was supposed to be, she just came across as not very into the MMC. There was nothing to actually depth to either of the MC.
There is nothing to actually look forward into this book, you keep reading it just so you can finish it, in my opinion.
I found it impossible to connect with any of the characters. Yeah, they are okay but there is nothing else that I could say about them.
The writing was good and I am sure there will be people that will love this book. While it was everything that was advertised, unfortunately it was not grabbing my attention enough.

This was probably the ARC I’ve been most excited about reading. One night stands are definitely one of my favorite tropes, especially when the one night stand happens at the beginning of the story. I also love that the accidental pregnancy is one of the first things that happen. Lots of times it’s not until the middle of the book. The nicknames Darcy gives to the baby are so funny and add such a nice humor to it. Especially “semen demon”. That one made me laugh out loud. The pacing was pretty fast, which made this have the potential to be a nice refreshing quick read. Other than that, the story itself kind of lost me. I don’t like it when authors claim tropes that don’t really apply and I would definitely not call this “forced proximity”. It was more like “chosen close proximity”. There also wasn’t really a lot to do with the hockey portion of it. It didn’t really matter and had nothing to do with the story. The drama with Darcy’s family could have also been interesting but they kind of just brushed over the issues there. I really wanted to like this, I just didn’t.

i really enjoyed this story, i read it in one day LOL! i love the dual POV, especially by the time it’s towards the end bc WTF. i was SHOOK at what was going on. the spice was lovely, especially their nicknames iykyk. i love how the story tracks with the pregnancy timeline, that is so clever and cute. i loved seeing our beloved characters from book one. i do wish we got to see more of the conflict being resolved on our end because there were definitely some choice words i had for a few characters LOL. this book definitely had me emotional overall because of my wife & i’s journey with creating our family and this book kept speaking to me until i read it. i really felt like it helped me live through the characters in that way and has got me even more excited to be a daddy (outside the bedroom too that is, *wink wink*). it definitely left me wanting more but in a good way. i can’t wait to see what comes next!

I was an ARC reader for this and was so excited to share my thoughts about the book.
Tatum Reed and Darcy Whitestone give in to one night of passion and wind up with a lifetime of commitment in the form of an unexpected bundle of joy. We get to go along with them on a super fun and complex journey from playboy and career focused woman to one happy family.

Katelyn Snyder is fantastic at writing cute and funny banter, delicious spice, and the emotional and physical toll of pregnancy and the postpartum experience on both momma and daddy. It's an incredible journey from one night stand to HEA and honestly - these two were headed there from their first meeting in Shot to the Hart.

This made me laugh, it made me cry, and I loved the positive representation of taking care of your mental health for both men and women when there are major life changes.

I can't wait for the next installment of the Scoring with Love series!

Spice scene count will be added later

Never thought I would have enjoy the nickname Mama in a book.....but this author changed my mind 🤣🤣

Tatum and Darcy have a one-night stand after their best friend's wedding. Typical best man and maid of honor activities. Well fast forward a few weeks and Darcy got a little souvenir from the wedding. This book takes you along the journey from deciding initially to be co-parents to watching Tatum try and woo Darcy. What he doesn't know is very little wooing is needed 🤣

This book does a great job of showing the fear and worries of parents especially first-time parents. You especially get to see Tatum struggle trying to settle into becoming a dad.

I will say that I think my favorite couple is going to be the next book so I am looking forward to that book!!

Great job to Kaitlyn Snyder because I am officially roped into this series!

If you're looking for a cute, quick romance this is a good one to pick up. This one deals with accidental pregnancy, friends to lovers and HEA.

On the good: I loved the friendships and the groupings. I love the fact there is the next couple books set up with pairings starting in the background. It was a fluffy read, which felt nice after some heavier books. The character's did have some open and honest communications.

On the bad: the characters did feel a bit surface level, there wasn't much growth. The third act really threw me off because it was a huge change in characterization. The main FMC claimed to be super independent but I didn't see much evidence of that.

Thank you to the author for an ARC of this book. This review is left honestly and voluntarily. While it wasn't the biggest hit with me, don't be afraid of picking it up!

ARC Review: 4.5⭐️
On Three… Baby Reed is book 2 in the Scoring with Love series featuring Tatum Reed & Darcy Whitestone.

Tate & Darcy are the best man and maid of honour in their best friends wedding. While dancing they joke about how they’re supposed to hook up, which eventually leads to them doing just that.

Six weeks after and one positive pregnancy test later and the two decide to enter in a co-parent relationship. But the more time they spend together, the more it feels like they should be all together as a family.

Throughout the pregnancy Tate is by Darcy’s side, but after the baby is born he gets in his head about being a bad dad and winds up leaving without saying anything.

Will Tate come to his senses before it’s too late to ruin their little family’s chance at happiness ?

This was my first book by Katelyn and I really enjoyed it! I loved the friend group and I can’t wait to see who’s next ! Thank you Katelyn for the ARC!

The surprise pregnancy trope is my favorite trope; when it is done well, I enjoy it immensely. This book is really good; I related to much of the book's dynamics and enjoyed the relationship between the MMC and FMC, especially how the MMC cared for the FMC throughout her pregnancy. The spice was very good as well.

I even enjoyed the exploration of the first few weeks of postpartum and have never seen it portrayed in quite that way also focusing on the male POV.

However, the MMC does something towards the end that I think is unforgivable. It didn't come out of nowhere because the seeds had been planted, but wow, I was emotionally charged and pissed off and felt like the FMC forgave him too quickly.

The third act alone makes me not want to reread it, which is a shame because I enjoyed so much of the book before.

***ARC Review***

If you’re looking for a cute, quick read with low angst, heavy on the found family and tight knit friend group, then this is the book for you. A fun and spicy story about the clichéd best man and maid of honor hookup, with none other than the surprise pregnancy. I genuinely wanted to be in their friend group; the back-and-forth text banter was so funny! And one of my favorite microtropes – he takes care of her, I definitely swooned. Tatum gave off the secret pining vibe from the very beginning and I loved that!

This is book 2 in the series. I did not read book 1 and I didn’t feel like I needed to in order to understand what was going on, but I do think it would have helped to establish all of the characters in the friend group. These side characters seemed to play a bigger role in the day to day of the FMC and MMC than I was expecting, so I think it would have been helpful. It also might have made me or less excited for book 3, as it that was set up throughout this book as well.

On Three… Baby Reed by Katelyn Snyder 🏖️

(Now available on KU)

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book had some of my fav tropes and was such a quick, easy read!

Tatum was hands down the sweetest MMC. From the moment he found out about Baby Reed, he was all in. He went above and beyond to put Darcy’s wants/needs first.

I felt like Darcy was a little demanding, at times. But, she also had a difficult family dynamic she had to work through.

Tatum’s family was a dream. The amount of love they showed him and Darcy, was the sweetest. Found family will always be one of my favorite tropes!

Can’t forget to mention what they named baby Reed 🥹 cue the waterworks!

Thank you @authorkatelynsnyder for this arc! 🥰

If you’re not into the accidental pregnancy trope, On Three… Baby Reed won’t convert you. This one starts with an unprotected one-night stand—no, really—and leans into forced proximity and friends-ish to lovers. The banter and spice are decent, and there’s a cute undercurrent to their dynamic, but it’s tough to enjoy when the premise feels careless.

On top of that, the hockey details are wildly inaccurate. As someone who reads sports romance for the sport and the romance, this missed the mark. It might’ve worked better if it didn’t try to wear the “hockey romance” label.

If you can suspend disbelief and you enjoy surprise babies, spicy tension, and vibes, there’s something here. But it wasn’t for me.

This is the 2nd book in this series. I have been an ARC reader for both! I was excited for this book to come out.

Darcy and Tatum being best friends of Kodi and Maverick from the first book really topped this off for me. I absolutely LOVED this book.

Accidental pregnancy is one of my favorite tropes, so it got to me even more.

Tatum was great to Darcy throughout her pregnancy and it made me swoon. I couldn’t put the book down! I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I did.

To Katelyn: thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this journey with you. I can’t wait for the next book. ❤️

now i love me a good accidental pregnancy romance and katelyn did such a good job with darcy & tatum’s story 👏🏽 he was so supportive of what she needed and made sure she was emotionally and physically healthy. the way he was there for her was so flippin sweet but katelyn for sure kept me on my toes with that little shock towards the end…didn’t see that coming 👀

also i loved how welcoming tatum’s family was to darcy and their situation especially since her parents were the worsttt!!! and shoutout to their amazing group of friends helping out and being there for them through it all…can’t wait to see whose gonna be coupled up next, fingers crossed that my theories come true 🤞🏽

Thanks so much to Katelyn for sending me an ARC💜

I ate this UP. OMG I was obsessed from the first chapter, it was so easy to read and to fall in love with the characters and the nickname Tate has for Darcy, LORD TAKE THE WHEEL.

I read this so freaking fast, it definitely pulled me out of my book hangover and I’m hoping we get book 3 with Sin & Dom’s story!

This book features so many of my favourite tropes & microtropes

Katelyn is back again with a fantastic book! This book starts out with a bang in the spice and then goes sweet and slow in the best way. The characters are so easy to fall in love with and I love getting to see characters from the first book make appearances in this one. With this being Katelyn's second book, you can see how far she has come from her first one in the writing and I cannot wait to see her writing continue to grow as more books come out. This book is fun, cute and has moments that have you non-stop reading because you just need to know what happens next and overall just so fun to read!

”She tastes sweet like vanilla cake, but the feel of her lips on mine is as natural as breathing, I won’t stop unless she makes me.”

On Three…Baby Reed is the second book in Katelyn Snyder’s Scoring with Love series. A one night stand at their friends’ wedding bonded Tatum Reed and Darcy Whitestone. Since her introduction in book one, I’ve been looking forward to Darcy’s HEA and Katelyn delivered! This flirty and funny romcom was charming, relatable, and surprising. Katelyn explored family dynamics and NHL front office logistics. I love sports romance series that take the POV of off-ice staff as well as players. Tatum Reed was a unique MMC with a yummy protective, caretaking side and a swoony obsession with his baby mama. I loved the character catch-ups with Darcy’s besties and the Tampa Bay Manta Ray family.

✨Special thanks to Katelyn Snyder for the advanced copy of this sweet romance.

Great read

This book was so fun to read, but (and this goes for A LOT of accidental pregnancy books) the pregnancy weeks being based off the date of conception and not based off of the first day of the FMC's last cycle is frustrating. That is how every doctor I've ever heard of does the weeks of pregnancy...it's honestly such a small detail, but it drives me insane!!

That being said I LOVE these two!! Darcy and Tate were adorable and I knew that they would make an adorable couple in book 1. I loved Tate so much going into this book, and was excited to see where his character went! Amazing job!!

This will have spoilers for the end of the book so you’ve been warned.

This was cute. I personally love accidental pregnancy books. He was great with her and treated her like she deserved. HOWEVER… what he did, disappearing for a week was crazy. When it was only 6 hours at first I was like wow, he’s def in trouble and it would take a minute to forgive that. But then it shows a WEEK later and he’s fallen off the face of the planet. I’m glad maverick put him in his place and I’m glad she didn’t give in right away but it would take a lot for me to trust him again. That honestly kind of ruined the book for me. I’m hoping Collin’s and Harley’s book is next.

Very, very mushy-gushy—like Hallmark dipped in glitter levels of mush. The author’s writing style isn’t totally my vibe, but as a sucker for a one-night-stand-turned-romance, I had to see it through.

It’s the classic setup: maid of honor + best man + wedding hookup. Their dynamic was written like they had this deep, complicated history… but if that backstory was actually explained, I must’ve blinked and missed it.

And of course, we’ve got yet another serial playboy who leaves behind more than just a smirk and a sore throat after a ONS. Predictable? Sure. Entertaining enough to finish? Also yes.

Tatum was a cutie pie once he realized his feelings.
