Revenge sealed their fate, but a meddling princess changed it all.
When the table is flipped, two opposing forces must put their revenge aside and instead, work together to find a solution.
Christopher has hidden from reality for far too long, so when one truth after another begins to surface, he must decide whether ignorance really is bliss, or if he can trust the captor that he's secretly fallen head over heels for.
Elody’s heart is a castle. Stone walls, iron fencing, and haunted halls. With new evidence to support Christopher’s innocence, her hope is slowly tearing down her defences. But you know what they say about cracks - they let the light in, and sometimes, the darkness comes crawling back in too.
When betrayals and secrets come back to taunt them, will the trust they’ve built be enough to keep them on steady ground, or will they be thrown for a loop as they again turn on each other?

Summary: Elody’s rebuilt her fallen kingdom and is wrangling a generation of powerful sun-gifted wielders, while Chris, the ever-complicated King of Carceval, is battling ghosts from his past. Book two cranks up the chaos... magic, meddling, and an ending that refuses to let you breathe.
Review: I’ve been way too excited for this one, and yep — it absolutely delivered. The story’s finally going in a linear direction (a merciful treat for my ADHD brain), but we still get the split POV between Elody and Chris, and let me tell you, seeing things through both their eyes is the best kind of headache.
Chris deserves a shoutout because the character development here is chef’s kiss. He’s still a brat...don’t get me wrong, but now he’s a brat with depth and actual emotional understanding. Elody, meanwhile, is still fiery, still quick to blow things up metaphorically (and occasionally literally), but her growth is noticeable and makes her all the more addictive to read.
The new characters are exactly the kind of chaotic additions I wanted… though now I have more questions than answers. The pacing was stronger than book one, smooth enough to keep me hooked, but then the last two chapters kicked things into overdrive. I actually had to go back and re-read just to make sure I hadn’t blinked and missed anything.
And that ending. Even though I’d been teased about it, it still left me yelling at my Kindle. Now I’m stuck climbing the walls, waiting for books three and four because apparently patience is not my strong suit.
Shadowless is book 2 in the Sincere Shadows Series by Daisy Florence. Absolutely loved it! There isn’t too much spice in this book but the tension is hot and heavy and when the spicing does spice 🥵🥵
Chris and Elody are my favs! I am loving reading these 2 characters grow as individuals. Their chemistry and connection is just perfection and their banter is great as well. Everything you need for 2 amazing MC is in this book.
This book is set in their current timeline and seeing them allow their emotions and vulnerability show has been great, especially with Elody has she keeps her vulnerability too herself and her closest friends only.
My fav quote for the entire book “we can still fight in the chaos, but let us love in the peace” 😩😍
It does end on another cliffhanger but it’s definitely got me all excited for what’s to come in the next instalment and I cannot wait 😍
Thank you Daisy for allowing me to be an ARC reader along this journey with you 🩷
Daisy never ever fails to shock me with her twists, turns, easter eggs and genius mind. I’m obsessed with the entire world she’s built and how the mystery of Larrakiel’s downfall (and perhaps all of our favorite characters) remains to be revealed, and it’s keeping me right on the edge of my seat!
Shadowless was less about world building, and more about character building, an element of stories that I constantly find myself loving. We see the relationship between Chris and Elody evolve over the course of the book, and the slow burn was truly ✨slow burning✨. So many times throughout my proofread I was screaming, yelling at the characters, or swooning altogether.
I can’t wait to see what Daisy does with the final books in this series. I desperately want the mysteries of the story to be uncovered and I just know that when they are, I’ll be going right back into Sun Blessed just to read all of the tiny easter eggs that her mind throws in there.
Highly recommend to any romantasy lovers with a good plot twist that you’ll never see coming!
I loved book 1 and I just knew I’d love this book as well. I loved the personal growth that’s showed in this book for the main characters, Elody and Christopher. Especially for Chris on how he ran the kingdom and his people. I loved their relationship dynamic and I can’t wait to see how their story continues. I’m on the edge of my seat, waiting to know what happens in book 3.

I loved this whole book. Seeing the corruption in Chris' kingdom. The emotions blooming between him and Elodie and the betrayal/assumed betrayal.
This whole book was brilliant, the fact it's left on a cliffhanger is simultaneously annoying and making me want book 3 already. I highly recommend this book! It's so brilliantly written with an amazing plot line.
ARC review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ As an ARC reader for Sun Blessed book 1 of this series, I knew I needed to be an ARC reader for the rest of this series and thankfully Daisy blessed me with an e-ARC of Shadowless and it did not disappoint!
Shadowless gives a quick recap of the story so far from Sun Blessed, which I loved especially as a book partway through a series a recap of the key plot is a great reminder for readers. The dual POV is continued in this book focusing strongly on Elody, Chris and the conditions in which his rule left Carceval. Shadowless is very plot and character development driven, there is still some amazing world building seen in this novel but it isn’t at the forefront like it was in the predecessor. The plot twists in Shadowless honestly take you on the most amazing roller coaster right leaving you reeling right on the edge, right until its cliffhanger ending. Daisy! How dare you do this to us! I’m going to suffer in the abyss of unknowing until book 3 now.
Elody is ever stubborn in her ways, as she progresses further through her trauma and shares more of herself with Chris and we see Elody in various states of vulnerability. As per the first book however she continues to flounder through her emotions for Chris trying decide if she does or doesn’t love him, does she hate him or not. Does he annoy her as much as she thinks he does. All while this internal emotional battle is happening, she has another internal battle happening with Morgan as she tries to determine where her feelings truly lie.
Chris remains naïve for a good portion of this story too but can his naiveness be blamed on him or the overshadowing of how his parents and grandparents ran the kingdom and taught him to do so? Morgan and Elody smack Chris in the face with the truth by showing him the state of the worst parts of Carceval and this is where his character really starts to develop. Chris does everything in his power to redeem himself and prove loyalty to Elody and his kingdom. My favourite quote about his realisation “I am. I promise, I am. I haven’t stopped thinking about my people since last night. I don’t want to be the person hurting everyone else. Fuck, I can’t think of anything worse.”
The forced proximity of Elody and Chris you can feel the heat and intensity and boy does it make you swelter; the slow burn was simmering so hard it was on the verge of a boil and I can tell you now, you will be slipping off your seat until the very end! The snipes and banter between these two as their relationship goes back and forth from love to hate and back again it’s so frustrating in the best way.
The plot twists were so well written I could not and did not predict that cliff hanger and as the blurb states when betrayals and secrets come back to taunt them… But who’s betrayals? Who’s secrets? Honestly the cliff hanger is so well written you cannot tell it appears as if Chris has betrayed Elody but was it recently or before his change of heart? Was it Chris’s cousin? His kingdom? The details literally leaving you gaping and screaming because you cannot tell. I am dying for Star Crossed (book 3) like yesterday. It is going to be a hard wait! Daisy why did you do this too me!

Even if I hated how we got here, she’d brought the light into my life, and even though the darkness of realising how much I’d fucked up came with it, she was pouring goodness into me along the way. To be fair, this is actually a 4.5 stars for me, but just because of a tiny little personal preference, because overall I adored it. And the ending made me want the next book like yesterday.
Our MMC’s growth is astounding, if in the first book I was unsure about him, I have now changed my mind. He is amazing, so flawed and imperfect, so willing to learn from his mistakes and be a better person. I adore him.
For me this book is a huge level up from the first one, even if in terms of events happening there’s not as much as in the first book, the characters’ development and the focus on their relationships blew my mind. I loved it. I can’t get enough of it. I want MORE. I devoured this book, I couldn’t stop reading. I also think the author herself and her writing style have grown and improved quite a lot in this book, compared to book 1!
The internal battle of our FMC in this book is so REAL, so human. Her thoughts so mixed, confused and relatable. I enjoyed quite a lot being thrown in her head. At times It was hard to follow her constant changes of heart on Chris, but I actually appreciated that, because, as I said, it only made her struggle more real: when you are torn between two opposite emotions it’s impossible to think clearly or rationally make sense of what you are feeling.
The only reason I’m not giving this 5 full stars is that I wish all of this hadn’t happened so fast timeline-wise. I wish a few more days had passed between Elody showing Chris the villages of Carceval and her starting to think he could actually be redeemed and begin her internal battle. I wish she had observed him and his efforts for a little more time.
Aside from this little note, this was amazing, I can’t wait for book 3!!
Thank you Daisy, for allowing me to be an ARC reader for this book.
I was kindly gifted an E-Arc of this book by the Author and I have previously ARC read the first book: Sunblessed.
Shadowless is every bit a worthy successor to Sunblessed. I absolutely enjoyed every second of reading this book! It was great having ARC read the first book as it felt like visiting old friends and I loved how Shadowless picked up straight where it left off.
What I Loved about the book: * Sunblessed recap: good to have a recap on what happened previously ready to start the second instalment. Love it when authors do this! * The difference in the characters from Sunblessed to Shadowless. We see Elody evolve into a a capable leader rebuilding her fallen kingdom like the queen she is. Chris’ character development in this book is incredible & really resonates as he battles his past demons and questions what he wants in his future. * Slow burn romance and tension between Chris and Elody. It was simmering the whole way through and I was here for it waiting for it to tip into spicyyyy territory. * More action packed and different pacing in comparison to book 1- loved how quickly things unfolded and built up. * The banter and comedic timing was everything. It’s really hard to portray humour in books sometimes and the author did this well. My favourite bit hands down: Elody sending Chris to his room like the naughty boy he is 😉 literally had me howling with laughter. * The last 3-4 chapters of the book where *chefs kiss* the action really ramps up and explodes. The ending = mind blown. BRB while I impatiently wait for Books 3/4 to drop.
My Favourite quotes:
“We can still fight in the chaos, but let us love in the peace”
“The chaos inside me was calming. It was growing quiet, tame. It was working. And it clicked. It was us.”
Shadowless takes everything set up in Sun Blessed and sharpens it—both in pacing and emotional impact. The story finally finds its stride, weaving a tighter timeline that lets the tension and character growth shine. What I loved most was the split POV between Elody and Chris; experiencing their journey through both perspectives made the emotional stakes hit even harder.
Chris in particular stood out this time around. He’s still insufferable at moments, but now there’s a real depth to him—layers of vulnerability that make his development feel earned. Elody, meanwhile, continues to be fiery and stubborn, but her growth is just as noticeable. The push and pull between them is as addictive as ever, with the slow burn romance threaded through sharp exchanges and heavy tension that had me hooked. And that ending? Absolutely brutal in the best way, that cliffhanger left me cursing and immediately needing the next book.
Daisy has raised the stakes with this sequel, delivering not just more romance and angst, but also deeper character arcs and a storyline that promises even bigger payoffs ahead. If you enjoyed book one, Shadowless will keep you glued to the pages and leave you desperate for what comes next
Shadowless which is the second book in this series absolutely delivers and raises the stakes in every way. It’s a second chance romance wrapped in a rich romantasy setting, with all the delicious tension of grumpy x sunshine and enemies to lovers (and maybe back to enemies again?) that keeps you glued to the pages.
Where book one felt more sprawling and layered, this installment moves with quicker pacing and a tighter, more linear timeline that makes the emotional beats hit harder. The slow burn is executed beautifully…the tension is heavy, constant, and unrelenting, making every stolen look and sharp exchange feel charged.
Beyond the romance, the personal growth and character development shine here. Both Christopher and Elodie are pushed to confront not just each other, but themselves, and it makes the romantic payoff (and heartbreak) feel that much deeper.
Just when you think you’re safe, the book leaves you dangling on a cliffhanger ending that guarantees you’ll be counting down to the next release. If you loved book one, this one takes the world, the angst, and the emotions to the next level.
With Carceval now being overseen by Elody and Chris in her custody, the aid begins to help Carceval heal. As much as she wants to think he’s the enemy, something keeps drawing Elody to Chris. She shows him all the bad parts of his kingdom and Chris shows real effort to change and help rebuild his kingdom. But other enemies threaten Elody and truths are revealed that make both Elody and Chris decide where to go from here.
This was such a good continuation from where Sun Blessed left off! There’s so much yearning and tension between Elody and Chris and I loved it! This felt like he was going to get a bit of a redemption arc but the cliffhanger on this one makes me wonder. Since we have 2 more books to go, there’s still time. My biggest challenge with this series is that there are SO MANY side characters and it makes it hard to keep them all straight. But otherwise, this has been a fun series so far and I’m looking forward to last 2 books!
First off, I was so incredibly thankful for the little recap of book 1, it had been a minute since i read it and this helped me get back into this world. I really enjoyed this one, it was definitely a slow burn but it certainly pays off with a decent amount of spice in the second half. In the middle it felt a little confusing with a few small details of the storyline which totally could have just been me not paying proper attention, but it almost felt like maybe 5 or 6 chapters were written differently than all the others. Nothing specific it just felt like a different main character for a minute and then brought itself back. The book ends on a huge cliffhanger that leaves you ready to immediately tear into book 3.
This ARC read of Shadowless, picks up at the end of Sun-Blessed. Chris has some choices to make, as well as, Elody.
Chris being a perpetual man-child, remains wildly ignorant of his family's history, but Elody (with the coaxing of a dear friend) will try to help him see the errors of his ways. Will he mend them or continue down a destructive vengeful path?
Will he learn of his condition and how it possibly relates to Elody? Will he continue to have the irresistible attraction for her?
Daisy's Elody and Chris are the "enemies to lovers to who knows what" that you didn't know you needed. Coupled with more history of what Elody had to endure, the book is a little slower paced, but with a killer cliffhanger that will keep you guessing what will happen in book 3!
Thank you so much to the author for the chance to be part of this series of ARC and getting the chance to review!
Book 2 was much anticipated as book one left us waiting for our power couple to take off.
Chris and Elody, my oh my, 🔥. I love that this book takes place in the present as it was a little easier for me to keep up with- the way the author builds the world to overlap and the Easter eggs you realize from the first book- genius.
This series has become a new fav of mine and I hope anyone on the fence takes the chance on a new author and a great series!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ -Enemies to lovers -Fated mates -Grumpy/sunshine -Opposites attract!
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The tension was tensioning, the banter was bantering!! Definitely enjoyed this second installment, and the refresher at the beginning of the book was greatly appreciated. Loved the character development, and how much we got to learn about the characters- even though I’m now left with more questions!
Elody is a powerful and magical Queen. She, with her allies, has defeated her enemies and is connecting with the people in all of her kingdoms. Chris, the King of Cerceval and a captive, is becoming aware of the life and struggle of his subjects and wants to help those in need. Elody has hope and is beginning to trust that Chris can change and be part of her destiny, but old habits and fears die hard.
What an ending!! Eagerly awaiting the next book.
I suggest not to skip the recap of Book 1. It gets you ready for the adventure of Shadowless.
This book has a much different pace and structure from the first one. It is a lot more action packed which I loved. This book will make you begrudgingly start liking Chris. You'll find yourselves even feel sorry for him, so be warned! I laughed, cried and raged. Thank you for providing me with the safe space to let my emotions flow freely as I followed Ellie in this journey.
This book has a different vibe from the first one. But, not in a bad way. I couldn’t wait for this and it really delivered. Elodie is rebuilding her kingdom while Chris faces his past. Both had amazing character growth. The ending left me yelling at my phone. This book focuses less on world building and gives light to characters old and new. There are lots of tidbits that are like Easter eggs. Daisy is a clever writer. I need more and cannot wait for books 3 and 4.
Disclaimer: Was gifted this ARC for review exchange
If you have not read Book 1 do so before reading this.
Amazing continuation to the storyline. I flew through this in an hour needing more. I loved the romantic development in this continuation. Ends on a cliffhanger for Book 3 You will want to throw the book in anger because it’s a good cliffhanger
Loved getting to know more about Elody and Chris. Great story so far and loving cliffhangers because you just know it builds for an exciting and tension filled next book.
Cannot wait to read book 3!! That cliffhanger 😫 daisy you had me at the edge of my seat for the whole book, I love Chris and elody’s chemistry ❤️ and getting to know the other characters more
Earlier this summer, I had the opportunity to ARC read Sun Blessed by Daisy Florence. I absolutely loved the book and happily accepted to read the ARC of the second book in the series, Shadowless.
These two books were so different in terms of vibes. Whereas book 1 started with a heartbreaking prologue and first chapter, followed by a very spicy chapter 2 and tons of world building and action, book 2 was much more mellow. This book was definitely slowed paced and focused more on the FMC and MMC’s relationship with each other after the events of the first book. I loved the character development of both Elody and Chris as they tried to navigate through their complicated feelings and errors of the past, while trying to figure out whether or not they could ever truly trust one another despite this overwhelming pull they feel towards each other.
As I mentioned, this book is mostly slow paced… until all of a sudden, a betrayal causes all hell to break loose towards the end of the book. After everything is said and done, you’re left wondering what is truth and what is a lie, who is really responsible for the betrayal, and more importantly, where do we go from here? This book was a 5 star read for me and I cannot wait to see how this all plays out in the next book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book tropes include: ▪️enemies to lovers ▪️age gap ▪️fated mates ▪️second chance romance ▪️redemption ▪️opposites attract ▪️grumpy sunshine ▪️he falls first ▪️dual POV ▪️trauma ▪️grief ▪️ plot twists ▪️spice ▪️slowburn
Daisy (the author) warned us ARC readers that this book would be different from the first one, and she was right! Whereas Sunblessed (book 1) was a lot of background and world-building that alternated present and past timelines, Shadowless (book 2) is chronological and mostly character and relationship-building. I won't say one is better than the other, they're just different, and it's good to know that going into it.
Overall I have to say that I wish these two books had been combined into a single book. In my earlier review of book 1, I mentioned that the middle 50% of the book didn't grab me. By combining the two, the book would have been more exciting overall (with the end of book 1 as the climax) and still ended on a cliffhanger (the end of book 2).
All of that is to say that I will be reading Star Crossed and Moon Struck (books 3 and 4) of the series because I'm so invested in the characters and I have to know what happens to them. Those books will release in November 2025 and January 2026 (fingers crossed!).
