Jungle Heat was a quick paced story filled with some interesting shifter action, Amazon ladies and evil plotters. The romance was actually very sweet, specially for a shifter story, which made it stand out in this genre for me.

Adara isn't use to seeing men walking around her forest, specially foreign ones. So, when she runs into one that can turn into a tiger looking man, well let's just say her first instinct is to strike first and ask questions later. She can't help but doubt his words and actions when she has no experience with men let alone one who's got fangs an claws.

Rei is a rare tiger shifter, he's the last pure blood left of his kind so he should probably find a strong mate to sustain his bloodline. Ironically, it takes his arrival in the rainforest to find such a worthy woman. Only problem is she doesn't notice him at first, and when she does she just happens to stab him. Between having to win the heart of his Amazon princess, the trust of her tribe and ward of the guys who want to destroy him, he's got his paws full.

There is lots of sex so this is 18+

Incredible, what I wouldn't give to run into a tiger like that!

It's about time that those Amazon Women let a male of that caliber into their midst instead of Indians, not that the Indians are bad, but oh those were's!

Adara princess of the Amazon Women runs into Rei a weretiger, in the forest and is enthralled by his magnificence. But he is half man half tiger! She soon realizes that she has been living a very sheltered life and is ready to become a woman. She takes her new found love Rei, to her village and he is accepted by her mother, the queen.

But there is the werepumas, will these unknown men be good, or bad for the Amazon Women, will they be able to coexist and reproduce with them?

Is this a good idea, will the other werepumas attack them, or will they learn to live together in peace?

Lots of action and passion, good start to a promising series.

I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review.

JUNGLE HEAT prodded me to do a little research about the warrior women called Amazons, because I wasn't sure if the "history" mentioned in the blurb was just part of the story or based on fact. Amazons are women who are part of an all female nation and originated in Greek mythology. They are typically tall, very beautiful and excellent fighters, and the women of JUNGLE HEAT are no exception.

How does an Amazonian woman find someone to share her life with? I can imagine that it is fairly difficult since the Amazon village is hidden, making it difficult to find the women. Then, of course, there is that little built in trait of "total bad-ass" that probably intimidates most men.

When Adara, princess of the Amazons, ventures outside the confines of her village, she is greeted by a curious weretiger named Rei. He seems more intent on claiming her than attacking her. Once he makes his presence known to Adara, everything about the world she has known becomes jumbled and confused. From a very early age, she is taught that men are evil and are simply a means to an end, and that end being reproducing to insure the survival of their bloodline. Despite her misgivings, Rei is determined to teach her all the pleasures her elders have been so adamant about keeping hidden from her and the rest of the young Amazon females.

I loved Adara's naiveté even down to the most innocent of things, like kissing. I also loved that Rei entertains her "I am the future Queen so you must do as I say" attitude all while smirking and poking a little fun at her Highness. Rei and Adara are a great match. Only a man like Rei in a powerful body possessing a sharp mind would be worthy of Princess Adara and though he has "chosen" her as his mate, he enjoys keeping her a little emotionally off kilter.

JUNGLE HEAT was like a quick escape to a secret world. It was exciting and a little different from the typical shifter story. The sexy weretiger was a nice change... there really should be more tiger shifters in the paranormal world, they have a lot of love to give.

This novella is as steamy as the Amazon jungle! There are many dangers in the rain forest – more than most people imagine. A tribe of Amazon women who shun men, except for the annual “mating” ceremony, are used to taking care of everything themselves. Afraid of being taken over and dominated by males, as had happened in the past, they have become fierce in their independence, allowing no man into their village. Adara, the tribe’s princess, next in line as queen, is an adventurous woman as well as being a fierce warrior. She is the perfect heroine, set against a handsome Russian biologist who has been turned into a weretiger and has other weretigers out to kill him. What a perfect setting for a romance!
Sarah Makela weaves a thrilling & romantic tale, with lots of smexy scenes, in her usual flawless manner. Once you start reading, you are in for the whole experience. Well written and with plenty of action thrown into the mix, this is a great start for the first in the Amazon Chronicles series.

Well written story full of action, danger and steam

This is a great first book to the series and I enjoyed the difference angles of this paranormal romances. Our gal is an Amazon princess, soon to be in charge of her isolated tribe of fellow warriors. She meets, and feels an undeniable attraction to, the strange animal man that has apparently been watching her secretly for quite a while. He's totally head over heels for her and strives hard to win her trust. Of course, nothing's all that simple so expect danger, suspense, action and change occur to the peoples of the rainforest. Good fun!

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Adara is to be queen of the people in her village. Going out alone was never ok but sneaking out at night was dangerous when a male creature chases her through the forest she learns there is more in the world than humans. Something has drawn Rei  to the female watching her has become his obsession until she runs from him instant is to chase but when he caught her what than? Even if she is drawn to Rei, Adara has to think of her people but can she have more too.

Wow! What a wonderful story! I love it! Sarah Makela excels at taking the unusual and crafting it into a a wonderfully entertaining story full of fantasy, adventure and paranormal romance. Jungle Heat is Makela's first book in her amazing and refreshing Amazon Chronicles series which is set deep in the Amazon Rain Forest. The story is exciting, entertaining, thrilling, riveting, romantic and sensual. The dialog is smart and well written. The characters are fascinating, captivating, intriguing, well developed and sexy. She uses these elements to weave a magical and heartwarming story as only she can about an Amazonian princess, Adara Rukan and a pure blood weretiger biologist, Andrei "Rei" Makarov. Rei was able to escape Siberia and travel to the United States where he began his studies in biology. He's lost his entire family at the hands of cruel human hunters and is now the last of his kind, a rare pure blood weretiger. He was not bitten or turned but was born as a pure blood with special abilities. He has traveled to the Amazon Rain Forest to continue his research. While out in the jungle in his tiger form, he saves a young woman from a puma attack and is instantly attracted to the beautiful creature. For the last 6 months he has watched and waited for the perfect opportunity to introduce himself to the beautiful woman whom he now knows is the Amazonian princess and future Queen of the Amazons, Adara Rukan. Although he has suffered a great loss as a result of human cruelty, he can not deny the attraction he feels for the brave beautiful human, Adara. And it seems after a rather painful introduction, quite literally, the beautiful princess Adara is attracted to the handsome weretiger as well. But will they ever be able to overcome ancient prejudice and practices to allow their love to bloom into a lasting relationship? Can two people from different worlds find common ground and be happy together? Or will old enemies destroy their hope and claim their lives? No spoilers here! You'l'l just have to read the book but I will say this.....Handsome sexy weretiger-check! Beautiful courageous Amazon princess-check! Danger, drama and enemies with evil intentions-check! Instant attraction, sweet romance and a little angst-you bet! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Jungle Heat book1:( Amazon Chronicles Series ) OMG! WoW! This is a awesome story! It's exciting, entertaining, thrilling, riveting, romantic and sensual. The dialog is exciting and well written. The characters are sexy, fascinating, handsome, intriguing, captivating and well developed. Sarah uses magic to weave a heartwarming story. That is set in Amazon Rain Forest.

Adara Rukan is a Amazonian princess and Andrei "Rei" Makarov is a rare pure blood weretiger who happens to be biologist. Their love story is amazing and refreshing. Rei escapes Siberia without being killed like so many of his kinsmen and now he's almost the last of his kind. Those weretigers who aren't bitten and turned but was born as weretiger are known as pure bloods and they have special abilities. It gets steamy hot in the jungle…

The Amazon rainforest truly is inhabited by strong, beautiful women and Adara Rukan is their princess. Inhabited entirely by women, their village thrived by being self-sufficient and only seeking male companionship when necessary Rei Makarov was a biologist studying in the rainforest. Born a weretiger, he understood the meaning of lineage and heritage. Rei had saved her life once and their first formal meeting was not an accident. As the future queen of her people, Adara had to fight her instant attraction to Rei. He did not fit within the rules of her people. With danger dogging their steps, they were helpless to stop the feeling they had for each other. They had to figure out a way to survive, together.

This read has good storytelling, likable characters and smoldering heat; all the things I am used to from this author. The relationship does go from zero to sixty in less time than it would take to make a cup of coffee. I guess a symptom of being a novella where there is a lot of ground to cover in a short period of time so there is no slow buildup or lots of in-depth character development. I sure am curious what the Amazons do if they have boy babies. A great to a new series and I’m looking forward to more weretigers in the jungle!

I received an arc for an honest review. This is a different kind of shifter story, which I am liking very much, the characters are developed well, you get some background on them, and have a good understanding, while Rei and Adara's story unfolds before your eyes. Rei is one of the last born, not made, shifters left in the world. His kind are dying out, Adara is one of the few Amazon women left in the forest. Not just any woman mind you but the future queen of the amazon women. These women were taught all their lives not to trust men, so you can only imagine what their first meeting was like. Not done yet, will update when I am. But what I have read so far I'm really liking. Give it a read you will love it too. Well Kyle didn't turnout to be what I expected, after he had attacked Rei. He showed up with a warning. Now the dreaded trip back to her tribe, to tell them of her mating. Wow the meeting with Adara's mother went better than I expected. Well I was very pleased with this story. I love this book and hope there are more of these characters to come. You will enjoy it give it a read.

JUNGLE HEAT by Sarah Mäkelä

The Amazon rainforest still contains a few secrets, and one of those is a tribe of women who live their lives taking care of each other, they're fiercely independent and don't allow men into their village. The only time they interact with men is when it's time for their annual mating ceremony.

Adara is the village princess and a fierce warrior. She llikes to spend time in the forest going on adventures. There she comes across a weretiger and biologist, Andrei "Rei" Makarov, whose on assignment. As she has no experience with men, she doubts his words and actions. Can Rei and Adara find love enough to heal her clans past hurts, and bridge the gap that separates their two worlds?

This was a really intriguing and exciting story. I've read many shifter books, but this one is really unique. The storyline is interesting and quiet captivating. This author captures and describes the two worlds perfectly, and it had me gripped from the beginning. I loved Rei and Adara who are quiet different characters, but well suited as a couple. A very entertaining read!

Change is never easy, trust has to be earned! I really liked this book!

Adara is an Amazon princess. She is walking through the jungle near her home when Rei, a weretiger, starts chasing her. When she trips over a tree root, Rei pounces. While defending herself she stabs Rei with her sword and is shocked when he pulls the sword out of his belly and gives it back. He soon makes her his mate, but there is trouble with rouge werepumas. Rei's one-time friend Kyle, a werepuma, warns Rei that some of the younger wetepumas want a chance to mate with Adara. Rei helps Adara return to her villiage and there are mixed reactions toward Rei, and his claim of their princess as his mate. When Kyle, Rei's friend shows up at the villiage with a group of werepumas he trusts, he warns them that the rouges pumas are planning an attack on the villiage. They help defend Adara's people. Adara is now queen of the Amazons and enters into a peace agreement with Kyle and his group of wetepumas.

Amazon Princess Adara Rukan ventures into the forest to find the were-tiger Andrei "Rei" Makarov waiting for her but the Amazons are supposed to conquer all men...right? Can love overcome their painful histories in this captivating paranormal romance.

Strong, compelling characters and a fascinating hidden world grab reader's attention from the very beginning as the fast paced and smooth flowing plot ensnares readers with suspense and passion. The attraction between Adara and Rei burns hot but cultural differences stand in the way of happiness and the reader can't help but enjoy this quick and passionate romance as they strive to make changes and reach for the HEA. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and excitement builds as an unexpected danger threatens to destroy them. I was completely caught up in the story from the very beginning and I am looking forward to reading the next Amazon adventure although I do wish it had been longer.

It's different and it's Hot! I mean what's not hot about a kicka$$ Amazon Princess and a sexy weretiger biologist that's Russian? Adara Rukan the Princess likes to sneak out of her isolated village into the jungle for some adventure. She didn't count on that adventure being Andrei "Rei" Makarov a male weretiger. Rei had been watching Adara for awhile and wants her as his mate. When they "bump" into each other in the forest sparks fly. Both kinds but that doesn't stop Rei fron wanting to get to know her. Rei wants to protect her from the dangers that lurk in the forest. *long dreamy sigh* it's so sweet! His once best friend Kyle a werepuma is proof of that danger. Adara discovers new things with Rei *giggles* and gained a lot of confidence beside him. She was so isolated from everything because of her village's distrust, it's sad. They opened each other's eyes to all sort of new things. It's a beautiful story of discovering love and strength to accept change.

I enjoyed Jungle Heat as a short paranormal story Adara a Amazon Princess and Rei a Siberian Weretiger fell for each other fast even though she was uncertain he was absolutely sure he wanted her for his mate and had fallen very much in love while watching her without her knowledge She realized there was something that attracted her to him it had nothing to do with procreating but to love and keep as her mate. Rei made her see that they were good together and that it was possible to live with the Amazons and not try to enslave or kill them as most men were know for doing as Princess she was scared that her family and the other Amazons might not take kindly to her bringing her mate back to her village but she had the courage and love to bring Rei with her and he was willing to stand against the Amazons in order to keep his mate. The author did a good job with the characters.

Jungle Heat is set in the Amazon and the setting makes it a unique shifter novel. The story moves along quickly. The main two characters Adara and Rei have a mutual attration for each other. Adara has been taught to not trust men because they are dangerous and destructive. Rei is a Siberian weretiger who has been living in the Amazon doing research. He took notice of Adara and wants her to become his mate. So, they obviously have obsticles to overcome from Adara's beliefs, Rei and Adara's painful past and losses, other shifters and the Amazonian women who Adara is the princess of and soon to be queen.
I was given this ARC and just asked to give an honest review. I enjoyed reading this novella I thought the author did a good job in keeping the interest of the reader in the book. It was sweet, entertaining and heartwarming.

Adara Rukan was an Amazon princess. Her people did not trust men. They would seek out local Indian men tribes when needed to reproduce, but never kept any male children that were born. So when Adara met this weretiger Rei in the jungle she was very hesitant.

Rei had watch Adara for a while and even had protected her once. He admired her courage and beauty. He knew he wanted her as a mate but was uncertain how her and her people would except that. So what better way than to seek her out and confront her about it.

Kyle was a werepuma. The rogues of his kind did not take to kindly to Rei wanting Adara. There is danger at hand and everything must be done to protect the Amazonians. Will Kyle and Rei be able to keep the woman safe? Will Rei be able to win the heart of Adara and her people?

I received this book for an honest review. I was a great book and I truly enjoyed it.

How could something so fantastical be real? 5 GOLD KISSES

WOW! What an AMAZONING & JUNGLELICIOUS story! It may be a shorter story, but it lacks for nothing! It is PAWSITIVELY SHIFTACULAR!! The creativity alone makes this a story worth reading, but there is a whole lot more PAWESOMENESS inside too! There is the surprisingly well-defined characters - I say 'surprisingly' because there often isn't time with a shorter story to develop them, but Sarah not only does just that, but also gives both sides a great history/background! Plus Rei & Adara are characters that intrigued me from the start! Talk about animal magnetism!! WHEW! *fans self* Rei sure helped to change her stripes! Very TIGERRIFIC! With Sarah's FURNOMENAL talent this shorter story reads like an ABSO-AMAZON-LUTELY full Furry Tail! I am BEYOND excited to read the rest of this series!

Can an Amazonian Princess fall in love with a male weretiger?
Picture yourself as an Amazonian Princess out for a walk and happen upon a half man half tiger. What do you do, fight or run? And what a cat going to do if you run but chase. You've never seen a naked man before and when he changes to full man, well not what? This wonderful story has some nice action in it as well as a few nice love scenes. Some werepuma’s that want to take what doesn't belong to them. Will the Amazonians accept a man around them and into their village? Well written and very enjoyable to read this nice short story. Looking forward to finding out what else may happen. This may be part of a series but it is a self-contained story. I was given a free copy for an honest review.

I received this book as a gift in return for an honest review
This is the first book in the series, and I am looking forward to reading the rest of it. It has a unique twist on shapeshifters, as well as bringing in the new concept of a new breed of jungle residents via a tribe of Amazonian women. The story has a good backbone, giving it lots of potential for future spinoffs (hopefully within the rest of the series). The characters are interesting and blend well to the tale. Sarah has a unique style that keeps you wanting for the next book to come sooner than later. Enjoyed this and would recommend to anyone who enjoys not only the paranormal, but a good love story as well.

Adara is an Amazon princess, as such she doesn’t trust men. When she comes across trouble in the jungle she is ready to defend herself. Rei is a weretiger that has been stalking Adara and wants her. Rei and Adara have to come together to defend Adara and her village against some rogue werepumas along with the help of some other werepumas.

There was suspense as Adara tried to return to her village and she felt danger and then as they fought the rogues. Jungle Heat is a fast paced race to protect the Amazons. There were some points of the story that felt a little disjointed but as an over all story it as a good and fun read.

Amazonian Princess Adara of the finds herself in quite the predicament; She has been chased down, knocked unconscious by a beast and wakes up to a very sexy stranger…problem is even when she has feelings for him she fears taking him home, her village despises and distrusts all men. Rei, however, is not a normal man he is a born weretiger, a very rare race, and he is determined to make Adara his mate. Just as Adara and Rei may be making headway with the villagers, trouble erupts in the form of a group of werepumas, dead set on tearing Adara from Rei…literally. Short and steamy with enticing storyline and interesting characters!

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed each of the short stories. I like how the characters intermingle within each other's story. The characters are interesting. The emotions run strong throughout all the stories. I felt that I didn't have a grip on the timeframe or the passage of time during the book, it appeared as if "true love"was quick to come to each couple, but that could have just been me. Each short story has the mating theme, so this isn't a young reader anthology - mature readers only.
I have always been a softie for a happy ending, so this short story anthology fit that.

But then a mutual attraction blossoms between the pair she is forced to have to go back to her village to explain her interaction with this new male overall it was a really good read.

This was a very quick steamy paranormal romance story. Since this is the first book I have read by the author I was unsure what to expect. Other than the story being far to short I enjoyed it and will check out other books by this author. I really enjoy any type of cat shifter stories, so this one with a tiger made me enjoy it more even though it was short. I hope to find other longer stories by this author because I enjoyed her style and the glimpse of the characters available in this one.

Contained sweet heat between an amazon Princess, Adara and a weretiger biologist named Andrei "Rei" Makarov. Loved their chemistry and passion as they fell for each other fast despite their differences. Author's writing style keeps you entertained. Promising start to a good paranormal series.
