Coalition Properties CEO James Howe has a mandate. As the new leader of America’s largest military contractor, Howe has been tasked by his board of directors with doing the one thing that his predecessor Richard Brown could not—Capturing and containing the elusive pattern reader, Alex Luthecker, along with Luthecker’s partner, Internet hacker Nicole Ellis. But Howe has different ideas. He sees Luthecker and Ellis as a threat to his overall vision, and he wants them both dead. And Howe recruits one of the most ruthless inmates in the private prison system to do the job. Lucas Parks is a shadow economy kingpin. He’s made billions running an empire based on drugs, guns, and human trafficking. And he’s run it all from a Coalition Corrections Facility prison cell. Howe offers Parks a deal—Parks freedom and legitimacy as a Coalition Properties partner, in exchange for the lives of Alex Luthecker and Nicole Ellis. Howe believes that by combining forces with Parks, laws and borders will no longer matter, and the two leaders will run the world’s first and only corporate superpower. But first, Parks must kill the two people who could expose it all. Parks agrees and is released. Now all he has to do is find them. Since his stand off with Coalition Properties one year ago, Alex Luthecker has suffered from severe, incapacitating migraines. When western medicine will not help, Alex and Nicole travel halfway across the globe to seek out the one man alleged to have the same predictive abilities as Alex-- A monk by the name of Kunchin who resides in a cave beneath the famed Potala Palace Monastery in Tibet. When Alex finds the elusive Kunchin, the Monk turns the tables on Alex, and tells him why he “The one you love the most will die, and this time, there will be nothing you can do to stop it.” RISE, the sequel to the critically acclaimed novel LUTHECKER, is a fast paced thriller that explores the nature of change and the conflict that arises between the forces that fight it, and the one man who can enable that forgotten freedom in all who cross his path. From reviews of “...Fast paced, great story, great martial arts. Get this book!” “What a fun suspenseful story of twists and turns.” “Strap yourself in and hold on tight. Luthecker will take you for a ride.”

The story continues to intrigue me. What is up next for the group Master Winn trained? Trilogy reads do not interest me much, but this is one I thought I would try, largely to the reviews I read on Amazon. This is a very good read, and I don't anticipate the last one to let me, either.
As he demonstrated in the first book, the author has an excellent grasp of his subject matter. Character development has been well done and the story, well thought out. I look forward to the next in the series!
Really enjoyed the concept and the story, but the grammatical errors, misplacement and misuse of words, and general sloppy proofreading are annoying, and distracted from the exciting and compelling storyline.
