5 ++ Stars Max knows who he wants…for keeps.
This is an awesome new series for Elizabeth. There are no power struggles in Max Diatras’s territory because he has it locked down. Nothing moves without his knowledge. Max is the picture of quiet confidence and complete control in everything. Max is also one delicious man. Lexie is a lovely woman who just met a fascinating man at a party. Max and Lexie just clicked. As a High school Literature teacher, Lexie’s not his usual choice for companionship, but Max knows right away that she’s the one he’ll be happy with forever… except when she finds out who he is…what he does…how much control in everything he has. Lexie puts on a good chase, which just drives Max even wilder. I love these two.
Lexie doesn’t even know that her connection with Max has made her some enemies, and these bumbling “criminals” bring so much humor to the story.
The Epilogue is so funny and endearing. Max and Lexie sure got a wonderful, happy love story. Linda

It backfires and things get really interesting! We have a politician running for governor who wants Max’s support so he can win. An ex girlfriend of Tony one of Max’s men, her goal was to get rich and move up in society and finally, Enzo’s girlfriend who wants Lexie out of the picture. This is quite the adventure!

Lexie, a school teacher, is blackmailed into attending an event so an underling can get an audience with his boss. This boss happens to be her ex-boyfriend and also a mob boss. He knows something is wrong, but she won't say anything. When things become dangerous, she runs to him and this time he won't let her get away. While they are different, they clicked. Lexie is able to see him and understand how he does his best to keep everything in control. She worries that he wants to control her as well, seeing it from his POV, he understands he can't and works hard to have her understand it in the way she can. Things get interesting when several people are upset about their relationship and try to do something about it. I'm excited for the rest of the series.

An excellent start

This is one of my favorite authors and this is her first book about the mafia. She H is a mafia boss but we don’t see any of the violence associated with that world. The h is a school teacher who met the H at a gala. There’s immediate chemistry. They started dating but when she discovered what he did and who he really was, she left him. A year later they run into each other at a party, she was blackmailed by some low level thug, she goes to him for help. He loves her and they start a relationship, she still have her fears but he proves himself to her. The plot is very good and the 3 kidnappers were funny. I just wish we knew what happened to all of them. Great epilogue.

This is a new series and the first book that involves Lexie, a school teacher, and her ex, Max, a mob boss. Lexie gets blackmailed by Enzo, a lower level underling who wants more, to go to an event with him to get Max’s attention. Enzo is a slimy, creepy, power hungry man, otherwise bad news. Max knows something is wrong when Lexie shows up with Enzo, but she’s stubborn and doesn’t say why. Max just knows, he’s not going to let Lexie leave him again. It’s an interesting story with the mob aspect, a bit different than our normal troupe but it holds your attention.

This was an entertaining read. Lexi is a strong woman and not someone who will give into Max’s demands easily. Living with him she sees a different side to him and falls for him once again.
This was a great start to a new series and I look forward to reading more.

Really loved reading Max & Lexie's story! I must say I wasn't too sure about the whole mafia romance but I absolutely loved it!! The protectiveness of Max, guarding his territory that is Lexie, the love, the need, the passion is so nice to read about. I just couldn't keep the book down! Lexie and Max. What a different book from Elizabeth. It was interesting to see how Elizabeth explained all the power Max yielded but made him seem human. The romance between Lexie and Max was hot. I really enjoyed Max giving Lexie control and not controlling her. Loved it!
