Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was a Scottish writer and physician. He created the character Sherlock Holmes in 1887 for A Study in Scarlet, the first of four novels and fifty-six short stories about Holmes and Dr. Watson. The Sherlock Holmes stories are milestones in the field of crime fiction.
Doyle was a prolific writer. In addition to the Holmes stories, his works include fantasy and science fiction stories about Professor Challenger, and humorous stories about the Napoleonic soldier Brigadier Gerard, as well as plays, romances, poetry, non-fiction, and historical novels. One of Doyle's early short stories, "J. Habakuk Jephson's Statement" (1884), helped to popularise the mystery of the brigantine Mary Celeste, found drifting at sea with no crew member aboard.
This survey pleased me a little less, mainly because finally, we do not know the bottom of the story. Sherlock Holmes very cunningly unmasks the culprits but does not reveal the motive of their crime which left me a little frustrated.
The Adventure of the Crooked Man
A novel without much interest if not to occupy us during a short trip or a short break. The rather original idea of the plot, unfortunately, lacks consistency certainly because the novels abridged. However, the design plays the role, and we entertain for a short time.
The Adventure of the Resident Patient
I enjoyed a lot this novel whose plot is more mysterious. And this time again the justice is rendered without intervening the forces of the order.
The Adventure of the Greek Interpreter
Sherlock joined forces with his brother Mycroft to solve a mystery.
The Adventure of the Naval Treaty
I liked this novel which is a little longer than the previous ones, with a more developed plot, which is more to my taste. Sherlock Holmes remains a formidable efficiency in this affair of the most nebulous flight where suspects are not lacking, all like the motives of the crime.
The Final Problem
There are malicious investigations where Conan Doyle removes his favourite character. To better make it reappear at the corner of a dark story, dismounted with the help of the rational of dear Sherlock! Once it is not customary, the TV series of the BBC brings an extra touch to the character of the paper.
The Adventure of the Empty House
The return of Sherlock Holmes !! a thunderous return !!
The Adventure of the Norwood Builder
Another mystery brilliantly resolved by Sherlock Holmes.
The Adventure of The Dancing Men
The dancing men. A man comes to find Sherlock Holmes because he is worried about the appearance of strange drawings on his doors, but what annoys him most is that these apparitions seem to affect his wife more than reason. The case is of interest to the famous detective, to the point of worrying him and making him fear the worst when he discovers the threat contained in the last message.
