Rate this book
A woman on the run…
Abused wife, Jill Thompson, knows she has to get out of her bad marriage. Like yesterday. With no money, no job and no friends, this small town girl can’t find a safe harbor. But when she sees a news report that The Program, a US military base, is seeking women to be matches for their genetically enhanced soldiers, she sees her opportunity. If she is lucky enough to be a match, her snake-mean husband, Jack, won’t be able to find or hurt her ever again.

A man looking for acceptance…
Rowan Blacker is the only soldier of his cohort to request a breed match. He’s the newest soldier on campus and, thanks to his genetic defect, he feels like an outcast. Matching and breeding with a woman will help him fit in with the team. Unfortunately Rowan’s match is nothing like the sexy, fun woman he was hoping to romance. The woman they claim is his perfect DNA match is a scared shell of a woman carrying a trunkful of emotional baggage. Against their better judgment, they move in together and as Jill shakes off the shackles of abuse, their attraction ignites.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
'Desperate Match' by Lynne Silver is book five in the "Coded for Love Book " series. This is the story of Jill Thompson and Rowan Blacker. This is a standalone book but it does reference some of the other books.
Jill has been married to her abusive husband for about six years. Jill starts to work out a plan to get away from him by joining 'The Program' of elite soldiers who were built generically to be strong soldiers. If Jill DNA match with one of the soldiers she would be his mate.
Rowan has been with the program for about a year. Rowan has never really felt like he was a part of the team / nor fit in with the team. So decided to join the group of men looking for the DNA / life mate partner. Rowan does have an issue with his arm being missing and when he first meets Jill he thinks she was taken back by it. This had a really emotional story of abusiveness, disability overcoming and just falling in love. Great Story.

****ARC provided by Beyond the Page Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.****

I really enjoyed reading this book! I didn't read it in order and did feel a little lost since some of the events mentioned in this book happened in previous books, but I felt that I was able to follow along with the story without being lost too much, though I would recommend reading this in order.

Initially I wasn't sure how I felt that the heroine, Jill, was already married for most of the book including when she meets the hero, Rowan. But I kept reading and really enjoyed how their story unfolded. I also wasn't sure how I felt that neither was attracted to the other at the beginning because being 'matched' in this world meant that they there should've been instant attraction and neither felt that way, but I got over that since it was very important to the character development.

The one thing I really didn't like was Jill's initial reaction to Rowan's disability. I mean, really, she was an abused wife who was belittled by her husband and then she has the gall to look at Rowan initially with disgust because of his arm? I think this is what prevented me from giving this book 5 stars just for that one part, but other than that I really enjoyed this book.

A copy of this book was provided by the author for an honest review at The Romance Evangelist.

This review contains spoilers for previous books in the Coded For Love series. You can read DESPERATE MATCH as a stand-alone, but I think you’ll enjoy it more if you have read the entire series.

DESPERATE MATCH is Lynne Silver’s fifth Coded For Love book, and the first to be self-published (all previous books were released by Ellora’s Cave). Although I have enjoyed the entire series, I have to say that this story is the best one so far. Perhaps it’s because the ever-present threat of the evil Dr. Paulson was finally eliminated in the previous book, or perhaps it’s because Lynne Silver is just getting better as she delves more deeply into this world of The Program. Whatever the reason, it’s great to see yet another erotic romance series that I discovered at Ellora’s Cave continue with an well-written self-published entry.

DESPERATE MATCH starts with a look at the woman whose current living situation is the source of the desperation noted in the title. Jill Thompson is only 24 years old, but the last five years of her life with her abusive husband have aged her in a way no person should ever have to bear. Jack’s need to control every aspect of her life seemed charming back when they dated in high school, as she mistook his behavior for some starry-eyed notion of true love. It was only when they were both out of school and married in a home of their own that the true Jack appeared, leaving Jill with few options for rescue. But now Jill has found hope in a news story about The Program, the decades-long classified military project for creating enhanced soldiers, and their search for female volunteers to breed the next generation. Their heavily guarded military compound in Beltsville, Maryland is only a few hours away from where Jill lives in rural Virginia, so if she can get herself approved as a volunteer DNA match for a soldier there, then she can finally be safe from Jack and his fists.

Back at the Beltsville campus, Rowan Blacker has volunteered to be matched for breeding if a woman can be found for him. Rowan’s birth defect has always made him feel like less than a complete member of The Program, even though he’s otherwise enhanced as much as everyone else. When the woman who is supposed to be his perfect DNA match appears on foot at the front gates, emaciated and bedraggled, Rowan wonders what he’s gotten himself into. Meanwhile, Jill’s first thought is how can a man missing one arm possibly protect her from Jack when he comes looking for her? Needless to say, this first encounter between Rowan and Jill does not bode well for their future together. And yet the attraction, however muted, is there. When Rowan discovers what propelled Jill to put herself in the hands of The Program, he vows to help protect and free her from Jack, no matter the cost. As Jill begins her slow and painful recovery from years of abuse, she and Rowan carefully begin to trust each other, even as her presence soon becomes a major liability for her protectors. For Jack isn’t going to let Jill go without a fight, thanks to the help he gets from a secretive group intent on attacking those who believe in the mission of The Program.

I’m a big fan of this series, but I was relieved to see that this new book was going to be more about the hero and heroine finding their way to happiness with each other and less about the external threats to The Program and its members. Being accepted by The Program for their breeding program was Jill’s last best hope to escape her abusive marriage, and I cheered her on as she planned her successful route to freedom. Although it was painful to see her initial negative reaction to Rowan and his missing arm, it would have been unrealistic for her to accept him with no questions asked, especially given her condition when she arrived on base. And certainly Rowan wasn’t expecting his DNA match to be a woman so literally beaten down on arrival that she barely had the energy to flinch whenever he tried to approach her. It would take lots of time and tender loving care for Jill to return to the woman she had once been, and for Rowan to see more than just the shell she had become while living under Jack’s oppression.

The best part of DESPERATE MATCH began when Jill was finally back to her old self and better able to appreciate just how much Rowan really was the best partner for her, even as she continued to work toward a semblance of independence from him and The Program. Rowan had his own growing to do if he was ever going to accept Jill as his equal partner in love and life under the auspices of The Program. By the time they reach their HEA, both Rowan and Jill have transformed from the two people who met under strained circumstances at the start of the book to a loving couple who are ready to support each other in every possible way. It’s a beautiful end to an compelling journey, and a wonderful continuation to one of my favorite erotic romance series.

This is the first book I have read in this series. I like Sliver's writing a lot and was looking forward to reading this book about an imperfect Super Solider and his fated mate who was recovering from abuse.

The book has lots of things in common with The New Species Series which isn't a bad thing but also seems to suffer from the same plot limitations and cliches.

The writing was rough and the romance suffered sadly from lack of communication. It had promise.

I received this book from the author and the Some Like It Hot group in exchange for a honest review.

My Thoughts: Loved this book! It featured my favorite theme - the abused heroine. Even through I had not read the previous books in the series, I was not lost. I also liked all the secondary characters and will check out the other books in the series.

The Hero: He was a sweetheart, but also had a tough side. He was caring and considerate with the heroine at all times. He never took undue advantage of the heroine. He was born with only one arm and sometimes jumped to conclusions and thought the heroine was disgusted by him. She was never disgusted that he only had one arm.

The Heroine: She is resilient after finally getting up the courage to leave her crappy, abusive husband. During the course of the book, she comes out of her shell. She is wary of the hero at first, but slowly begins to care for him. This soon turns into love.

The Background: Years ago, the government created "The Program" in which genetically enhanced soldiers were created. The public views them with distrust and suspicion. Every soldier in the program can request to be matched to a woman. A match means that they both have a DNA connection to each other.

The Story: Jill has concocted a plan to escape her abusive husband. She submits her name into the program to be matched to a soldier. She receives word that they have found a match for her. She leaves her husband and shows up unexpectedly at the base.

They put her in a room to await her match. Rowan is summoned and goes into the room to meet her. Things don't start off good so Rowan tells her they will not suit. So, then she offers herself to him as a last resort. Eventually, Rowan senses she is not into it and puts a stop to it. He then gets her to tell him the truth. Once he finds out the truth, he is determined to protect her and tells his superior they are a match.

The rest of the book deals with the difficulties that Rowan and Jill go through to get to their HEA.

This is really a good book. Rowan is finally feeling like he belongs somewhere and is settling in. Jill is desperate to get out of her abusive marriage and has risked everything to be a match so that she can be protected. They are a match but she hasn't thought much further than that and when they first meet it isn't like the others. He catches her look at his stub that is his right arm, she is petrified and Rowan picks up on in and doesn't understand until she turns around and he sees all the bruises on her back.

Rowan decides to accept her for his match and to protect her. This causes trouble from day one and it brings out the protectiveness in Rowan. He decides to get to the girl she once was and then make a final decision.

Her ex gets hooked up with a militia that is against the Program and they coach him to go to the press. She doesn't know until Dr. Wise I forms her how much trouble she has caused and she decides she is done being a victim and go to Loren to go to the press herself. She keeps this from Rowan because she knows he will try to talk her out of it, like he did with getting good a job off campus.

While she is gone Rowan also finds out what Dr. Wise wants her to do so it is a very bad day for him. After they fight about it she leaves. He goes after her and things between them get worked out.

This is a very sweet emotional journey between these two and the Program goes through some changes. You'll want to read this.

This is the 5th book in the series but my second book I have read in the series. I did like book 4 better, but this book had a heroine, Jill, that came from an abusive home, so I understand why the story was a bit slower. The author needed to show how Rowan helped Jill to heal before they could truly build their relationship as a couple. The other unique part of this story was that Rowan, an enhanced soldier, was born with a birth defect so he had his own issues he was dealing with. Having so many books in the series, I thought it was a great way for the author to make this story stand out compared to the other. I also liked how even though this book is focused on Rowan and Jill, you still get to see the other couples and supporting characters evolve in each installment.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

While I've never read anything by this author. The blurb is what drew me in.

I really enjoyed the plot of how both characters were both wounded but in different ways. I loved that they took the time to build a stable and loving relationship. I think Jill was a character any woman can relate to. The fact that she stood up to her abusive husband hopefully help other women who are going through a similar situation. Rowan was such a joy to read about. His fears of acceptance from everyone because of his defect drives him to believe no one would want to commit to him.

I'm definitely going to read her other books.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Rowan got his story! I was wondering if we were going to see him again after he played such a big role in Adam's book. Now he gets his chance at a match and watching him and Jill get together was a lot of fun. She's running from an abusive marriage and seeks the safety of the Program. Matching with Rowan gives her that safety, but they're both treading carefully, unsure of their place in the world.

Again, I loved the story of these two, but I feel like there was stuff left missing. I know the next book goes back in time for Shep's story, so I want to know when I'm getting resolution for all of this stuff!

Lynne Silver's Coded for Love series continues with this intense read that deals with two scarred souls who are told they're perfect for each other but must discover that for themselves. Whereas the previous installments dug deep into The Program itself and the evil machinations of traitorous villains, this one takes us on a more personal journey where love helps heal old hurts and makes them stronger than they both ever knew.

Jill suffered bruises, unrelenting fear, and a burying of her self-confidence at the hands of her abusive husband until the day she decides to leave him before he kills her. Her escape plan has her hiding out on the campus of The Program where she's surrounded by genetically altered soldiers who can keep her safe. She's the genetic match to a soldier newly installed in The Program who has issues of his home but is kindhearted enough to want to keep her safe. Her time with him sees her flourishing under his care and attention. She slowly regains her self-esteem and gains confidence in taking care of herself through the support of individuals seen as abominations.

Rowan grew up on the run because of one man's manipulations. He always felt out of place because of his deformed arm and felt overly sheltered because of his protective brother. He's a bit touchy about how people perceive him and his disability and he needed to be Jill's protector to regain his own self-esteem. He's extremely charming though and willing to take things slow with Jill which made him even more of her hero. I enjoyed his humor and how he used it to defuse tense situations. As a disabled person myself, I found his disability dealt with in a believable and positive way which had me fully immersed in his outcome.

Jill and Rowan's relationship evolved slowly as it definitely wasn't love at first sight. They had to become friends and confidants before morphing into an intensely sensual life-altering connection. I enjoyed being reintroduced to previous couples as it leant a sense of family to the story which showed these enhanced soldiers as human. Amongst these positive aspects comes the negativity of Jill's husband who was truly vile and took every opportunity to hurt her and his connection to the crazed religious group looking to infiltrate The Program left me rooting for his, and the religious group's, downfall. I also found Doctor Wise extremely unsettling in his discrimination toward's Rowan's deformity and leaves me questioning his loyalty from this moment on. From start to finish I found myself drawn to this couple and their imperfections which bound them together perfectly. This series continues to entertain and I look forward to the next installment and the continuing uncertainty of the enhanced soldier's futures.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I should probably begin this review with the confession that I am a sucker for a damsel in distress who is rescued and saved by her perfect man. So when I was offered the opportunity to read Desperate Match by Lynne Silver, I jumped at the chance. I m so glad that I did because this book had everything I could want in my romance story. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Silver and what an introduction. She can now count me as a fan.

Desperate Match tells the story of Jill, a victim of emotional and physical abuse at the hands of her husband. When she sees a news story about The Program, the decades-long classified military project for creating enhanced soldiers, and their search for woman to help breed a new generation, Jill sees the opportunity for escape. She believes that The Program is the only safe place for her and she is so excited when she receives her acceptance.

Rowan has volunteered to be genetically matched for breeding. He has a genetic defect that has caused him great insecurity and believes that a match will help him fit into The Program better. When he first meets Jill, he is not impressed by her appearance, but once he hears her story, Rowan is determined to protect her. As they spend time together, the attraction and connection grows. Eventually the two fall in love, but Jill’s husband won’t let go of her that easily.

I really loved the two main characters in this book. Even within the concept of genetically enhanced soldiers, Ms. Silver kept Jill and Rowan real and believable. Jill’s escape from her marriage and her desire to grow stronger and confident, made her a woman to admire. I appreciate Ms. Silver’s explanation of why Jill chose to stay with her abuser. It all made sense and helped me see Jill less as a victim. Rowan’s own insecurities had a profound impact on his relationship with Jill and yet made him seem more human.

There was so much sweetness in this book despite the tension from all the drama. Ms. Silver wrote a moving story of the healing power of love and a woman’s determination to improve her life. I was so immersed in the story and found myself cheering for both Jill and Rowan. Even when they made bad decisions based upon their past experiences, I still admired them and wanted them to find their happy ending.

I had not read the other books in the Coded for Love series and had no difficulty following the story. However, now that I have been introduced to The Program and the other love matches, I admit to being curious about the other stories. So I guess I’ll be busy reading them while I wait for the next match, I mean book.

What first got my attention was the plot. A woman running away from an abusive relationship into the arms of a super soldier. Of course I wanted to read that. The fact I haven't read the other books in the series is no problem to be able to follow the story. Though I will be reading the other ones too.

Right out of high school Jill got married to her boyfriend Jack and now six years later she's only a shadow of herself. After years of living under his tyranny, Jill doesn't know how much more she can take. When she finds out about the Program, she sees it as her chance to escape. Being genetically matched to one of those soldiers, she is sure she can find safety there.

Luckily she is a match and as soon as she finds out Jill is gone. Just showing up at the compound and giving herself up to a stranger, shows how brave or desperate she is. Though meeting her match, Rowan, he is nothing like she expected. Slowly Jill starts coming out of her shell and even starts thriving in her independency. I really loved to see her strength grow throughout the story. She was beaten down, but she rises stronger of it.

When Rowan meets his match for the first time, he believes the doctors might have made a mistake. The woman before him is scared and it seems he repulses her. He was born with a defect, not having the lower part of one arm and because of that he's gotten quite the attitude. People have always been very protective of him and he always had that feeling of showing people that he is capable. So now he has someone he can look after and protect, and he likes it.

The attraction between them is not instant. I really liked that it grew slowly from a friendship into more. Jill still has those issues from the situation with her husband and that doesn't go away that easily. They both take their time to get to know each other, though like all couples they will need to learn how to communicate.

Even though Rowan is a super soldier, he doesn't come across as violent or super intense. He is actually really sweet when it comes to Jill. His first instinct is to protect her, other things can wait.

The focus was mainly on Jill and her issues, not so much on the military stuff, but I liked it. It was just so sweet and I loved Jill's growing independence and self-discovery. Overall a great story. I really enjoyed reading this one and like I said, I will be reading the others in the series.

The Program: an organization of elite soldiers with superior strength, agility, and intellect. These men put their lives on the line to execute the government’s most dangerous missions.

Rowan Blacker is the newest member to the program, which he found out about recently when his brother Adam visited him after a lengthy absence. Jill Thompson has planned for months how to escape her abusive and controlling husband Jack. She signed up to be matched to a soldier in the Program. When she shows up at the front gate with the clothes on her back and a few odds and ends stuffed into a small backpack she is shown to a room and told to wait. She has to make this work. If Jack finds her she knows he will kill her this time.

Rowan walks into the room after being told his match is there. Surprised he looks over the pale, desperate woman sitting on the couch. He can see the abhorrent look on her face when she sees his missing arm and know match or not this will not work at prepares to leave. Jill seeing her safety net walking out the door lunges for Rowan. When Rowan catches sight of her bruised back and side Rowan is sickened that a man could do such a thing to one as fragile as Jill and offers a way to stay. Pretend to be his match, get her divorce and have a chance to start a new life. Things begin to get more complicated when the media are convinced that Jill has been kidnapped and brainwashed by the members of the Program to be used as breeding stock. Will she have to stand alone against the government, media and Jack? Can Rowan save the woman he has begun to love or will she run? My rating is 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

This had a pretty interesting plot: a woman who if the victim of domestic violence seeks to match herself to a genetically engineered soldier in hopes of escaping her husband. I even like the added twist that the soldier the heroine was matched with had a birth defect. It was a nicely paced read and I didn't need to read the other books in the series to be caught up in what was happening.

Jill had been married to her high school sweetheart, Jack for six years. She had become a shell of the girl she once was when she first started dating Jack. But when she discovered The Program and the hope that she could be genetically matched to an engineered soldier, she began plotting her escape. Despite how beaten down she was, Jill was a stronger woman than she gave herself credit for...especially when she shows up at a military base without knowing whether they'd let her in or not. She started coming out of her shell around the other women on the base and even opened herself up a bit to Rowan.

Rowan was a nice guy and he would do just about anything for Jill, even when he thought she wasn't his match. But he harbored a bit of a chip on his shoulder when it came to his arm and he jumped to a lot of conclusions about other people based on that chip. I felt like he held Jill's initial reaction to his arm against her. Despite her saying she loved him, he still thought she felt he was less than because he wasn't "whole" like his brother. I liked him a little less because of that.

Rowan was very sweet with Jill when it came to intimacy between the two of them. He knew what she had been through and kept to his promise of going at her pace. But I loved how dirty he got with her when he knew she getting more comfortable. I love nothing more than a man who dirty talks and he had a good dose of it for Jill.

I received this book as a Goodreads First Reads and quickly became a fan of Lynne Silver.

Lynne expertly portrays troubled, tormented characters that try to put the past behind them and open themselves to new love and new friendships. Rowan is a man struggling to fit in, no longer allowing his disability to hinder him. Jill is a young, insecure woman who has only been with one man, her husband, Jack, who repeatedly abuses her. But when she escapes to The Program to be a genetically selected match for Rowan, Jill finds the situation more preferable than staying with her abusive husband.

As both Rowan and Jill combat their insecurities, they begin to trust one another. Their humor creates comical relief during some tense scenes, and the other characters are dynamic and interesting, adding the relief and helping both Rowan and Jill regain their confidence and move forward in life. (The other characters also have troubled pasts and I can’t wait to read the other books in the series to learn more about them.)

For Jill, the process of regaining her trust in others is slow going. But Rowan is willing help Jill rebuild her confidence in herself, and in the possibility of finding love. But as they keep secrets from one another, they begin to lose their ability to trust in one another.

With the help of others in The Program, Rowan takes advice from his friends and realizes that to hold onto Jill he will have to be open, honest, and straightforward. To keep from losing Jill for 30 years, like what happened to his parents, Rowan has to communicate his feelings and desires for the woman who has accepted him and has blossomed into a headstrong young woman that has captured his heart.

Jill was late getting home, her husband Jack of six years was home before her.Jill wasn’t sure how things would go . Jill had been at the library to set up an email address. Even though Jack taunted her and called her college girl she had never went to college she had the grades but married him right after high school. Now in a desperate attempt to be free of Jack, Jill used the computer at the library to sign up for a program that had to do with super soldiers and finding their match through DNA testing. . Jill prayed she would be chosen , only three weeks to wait then she could get away permanently from the abusive man she had married. Rowan was already part of the program and went to Shep asking to be put in for finding Rowan a match. Then Rowan was notified his match was already on campus a little ahead of time but she was there. Rowan was born with only one full arm. He had lived with that for thirty years but when Jill first met him he had seen the look in her eyes.
I loved this story it was great. It was awesome of Rowan to see how desperate Jill was and decide to fight for her to be able to stay there and not have to leave the compound. I liked that Rowan got to Jack and let him know what it felt like to be powerless . There was a lot of pluses story. I also love how Jill grew in self confidence and toke on Jack on tv and started to heal from her time with him. Just was a good read all around, enhanced human soldiers, a disability, a program domestic violence, desperation, understanding, personal growth, true love, friendship and a lot more. I loved the characters especially Jill and Rowan and all the ups and downs they went through. Except of course didn’t like Jack or the hate groups. I highly recommend.

Desperate Match was a book that I liked overall. As far as classification, it's contemporary romance with elements of military romance as well. What I will say is that there were some steamy moments, but the part of the book that drew me in were the characters - Rowan and Jill. Jill is in an abusive relationship, and when an opportunity to flee her husband presents itself in the form of being a possible Match for a soldier at The Program, a governmental run base, she takes it.

From the beginning of the book, I found Jill to be a very sympathetic character. Her husband controlled every element of her life, and made her dependent on him for everything. There were a lot of times in the story when I wanted to slap Jack - her husband. Watching Jill's transformation from the beginning of the book to the end was one of my favorite aspects of the story line, and she was a character that I found easy to cheer for. On the other hand, there were times when, as a reader, I found myself thinking she could have been a little more forthcoming about certain things, but knowing what I knew, I think I can understand her hesitance.

Rowan, a soldier at The Program, was facing handicaps of his own. He was born without one arm, and initially, the two are a little distant, with neither one sure they're actually right for one another. Over time, a relationship develops between the two of them, and things do eventually heat up. Once that happened, I thought they made a great couple. I also liked a lot of the secondary characters, and Xander in particular, along with Chase.

This is a book I'd recommend to those who enjoy contemporary/military romance. My rating is 4/5 platypires.

Desperate Match is book 5 of the Coded For Love Series by Lynne Silver. It can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend that you read them in order to meet the entire team of men from the program.

Rowan Blacker has decided to throw his hat into find a match even though he's a new addition to the team, he's Adam's brother who has been training him for quite awhile. He does wonder if not having an arm will turn off his match or could it not matter to her once they meet.

Jill Thompson has been married to Jack for six years and every one of those years were abusive. She hears that the Program is looking for possible matches to their men and she escapes to the library to put in her name for a match. But will she be able to leave her husband without him finding out? Can she fall in love with her match and learn how to really love a man without fearing him?

Once Jill is notified that she has matched with soldier, she plots to escape and meet her possible mate. Rowan and Jill meet and they decide to take it slow to discover if they are true matches. However, her husband has a devious plan to try and get her back. Everyone at the Program compound is very leery but protective of Jill once they find out what has happened during her marriage.

I loved how the women (or match) of the previous books rally around both Jill and Rowan and how they come up with a plan to finally break free from Jack Thompson. All in all this was a great addition to the series plus there is a snippet of book 6 featuring Shepherd and his possible match.

Yay! Rowan got a book.

Since book 2 I thought Rowan was an interesting character. He had a fun personality and I liked the way he was able to joke about his own disability. The fact that he feels insecure in his place in the Program only made him more interesting as I wanted him to fit in and feel liked he belonged.

I think this book and Xander's stories are my favourites in the series. I feel the author has developed her writing over the course of the six books and that they've only got better as they progressed.

The story in this one was a lot more of a standard romance--abusive husband, wife freeing herself etc., just with the difference being she runs to an enhanced soldier compound to be matched. I thought the author dealt with the subject well and that Jill's emotions were believable. She didn't just fall at Rowan's feet or feel the instant pull that matches are supposed to, and I respected Rowan for taking things slow with her. He was a great guy and they're a couple you root for entirely.

As for the plot, it is predictable. However, that didn't stop me enjoying it. I even thought the ending was more satisfying in this book. There are a few unanswered questions, and I'm not sure if I'll find answers in book 6, but the at least there was a satisfying ending to the romance this time.

Overall, another good addition to the series. I'm moving straight on to book 6 now.

The stories of the men and women who live their lives under constantly scrutiny, and the speculation about their secretive existence, have become must read favourites and seriously addictive too.

Rowan is unique to the Program, due to his less than perfect physical appearance. Back in the early days, no one wanted to admit that a Program soldier could produce a disabled child and fearing for her child’s safety,Rowan's mother fled the compound, never to return.

But many years later, Rowan is reunited with the father he thought dead, and choses a life entrenched in the Program and pledges his allegiance to their ranks. And even though he's never alone, loneliness comes in many forms, and Rowan craves the love his brother shares with his mate; so he volunteers to be matched with a DNA compatible partner.

Never in a million years could Rowan have prepared himself for the fragile, frightened and physically abused young woman who shows up at the compound gates and embeds herself deep within his heart. After years of being beaten and broken mentally and physically, Jill seeks protection in the only way she knows how; among men strong enough to fight her demons and guard the life, she's unable to defend.

Desperate Match is a wonderful story of two beautiful souls who find themselves learning to trust, saving each other, and rebuilding their faith in human kindness on the road to their HEA.

Awesome Series! I love these stories! Lynne is an amazing author and each and everyone of her stories is unique and full of love and passion. this one touched my heart again and again as Jill and Rowan found love in one another and the strength that all couples aspire to be.

Jill knew it was only a matter of time before her bastard of a husband killed her in one of his rages. 6 years of marriage and the beatings have only gotten worse not better. When Jill learns of the Program Solders and the breeding and matching program she applys secretly hoping upon hope that she will be a match and that she can escape the horror that is her life.

Hoping to fit in better by being matched Rowan is the only one that requests a breed match, not only is he the new kid on base but thanks to a genetic defect he always feels like an outcast. When he meets his match she is a far cry from the other matches he has met though, instead she is a scared shell of a woman running for her life.

Rowan can't help but feel he must protect her and they decide to make a go of it and move in together. with a crazy ex, enhanced solders, and a media circus what could go wrong?

I so loved this story and I really loved the character of Rowan. He was so sweet and kind and sexy! I would defiantly recommend this book! TBR it today!

Desperate Match by Lynne Silver is the fifth book in her Coded For Love series.

I felt a little out of my element when I realized this was the fifth book in a series, but found that it wasn't a hinderance to have NOT read the previous books. I'm sure it's better to have read the previous books, but it wasn't a hinderance.

The plot was very different from anything I've read before. An abused wife secretly volunteers to be a mate for a genetically engineered soldier. Except genetically engineered soldier has a birth defect that freaks her out at first. Of course, the abusive husband she left behind is not happy with her leaving either. Lots of romance, and just enough drama to keep it interesting. I would definitely enjoy reading more from this author and perhaps starting the series in the right order.

"A way out"
This is remarkable!. The story line is amazing!. The characters are awesome!. Jill is an abused wife. Then one day she see's a news report about a military program called "The Program' the program was looking for women to be matches for their genetically enhanced soldiers. Jill see's this as a way out!. She knows she has to go for it. Jill had lived to long with her husband Jacks abuse. By all the tests the program run's Jill is the perfect match for Rowan. Rowan Blacker is one of the genetically enhanced soldiers. Only Rowan has one defect he has only one arm. When Jill and Rowan meet things do not go so well. Jill tells him her story and Rowan is such a sweetheart he helps her even though he does not know if they are a match. Are Rowan and Jill match's ? Can Rowan protect Jill from her Abusive husband Jack? Can the program help her get away from Jack for good? . This book is incredible! . Lynne Silver is a remarkable writer and I enjoyed reading this book a lot!

Marie's Tempting Reads Netgalley ARC Review:

Desperate Match is MOST ASSUREDLY my favorite one so far in this series. I FREAKING LOVED LOVED LOVED Rowan! Even with one arm, he was the most heroic, sexy, protective of the soldiers and is my favorite hero and definitely my new book boyfriend. I loved how he was with Jill. Sweet, kind, caring, and protective of her, he truly is the kind of man that any woman would want.

Jill is strong in her own way. Bruised, scared and desperate to escape her husband, she runs right to the Program for help and gets matched with Rowan. At first, there didn't seem to be much spark between them. But soon, a slow spark, becomes a slow simmer, and a HOT BURN soon after. I just downright loved this story! Loved this couple and everything they did together.

This stunning book, gets a FANTASTIC FIVE SHOOTING STARS! If I could pick one of the soldiers from the program, it definitely will be Rowan!

I love this series. With each book from page 1, I was drawn into the lives' of the main characters. With each book, I fell in love with the entire community of enhanced soldiers and their ladies.

Jill ran from her abusive husband to the only place where she knew it would be safe....The Program. Now with her match, Rowan, wants to help her and give her the time she needs to heal from the abuse she experienced from her husband, Jack, who is a snake.

I love series. Getting to read about previous characters and learning what they are up to is a favorite of my. This series is a must read. I have already read Book #6, First Match, and loved it, too.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Jill is in a desperate state with an abusive husband and the program might just be her pray answered if she is a match. But when she arrives she may not be welcomed or a match by the handsome Rowan.

Rowan is one of the newest members of the program and is trying to find his fit and show everyone that his handicapped are not hindering him in any way. When Jill comes on campus and looks beaten and worn down. Even though they are a match the sparks don’t fly like they thought they would but they both have things to overcome before the sparks can fly.

This was book five in the Coded Series and I enjoyed this one as much as I did the first. The way the book brings in past and new characters and keeps the twists and turns going are great. Makes for a great read and looking forward to more of the Program Men.

Rowan is the newest member of the program, a group of elite soldiers with superior strength, agility and intellect. He wants a match but it unsure anyone will want him because he is missing an arm. Jill decides to enter her name in for a match as a way to escape her abusive husband. Rowan knows that Jill is turned off when she see he is missing an arm but knows he must protect her from her abusive husband. Unfortunately Jill’s husband won’t go away quietly. Great read. This is a fast paced story with plenty of drama and suspense. I lived the characters. Rowan and Jill were really good for each other. I loved it.

Truly a unique story. I really enjoyed this book. The idea of the Program with enhanced soldiers was similar to something like Robocop when I started thinking about it. Then with Jill being an abused wife trying to escape from her husband, I wasn't sure if this would end up being cheesy. Once we met Rowan and he was such a genuinely sweet man that wanted to help her, I couldn't stop reading. I was enthralled in the story and the love that developed. I found it a very warming and passionate read.
