“This series just gets better and better with each new book!” – Amazon Reviewer
Some communities keep their secrets buried deep—in blood and bark.
In the remote forests of Northern California, a body hangs from a gnarled tree, marked with a ritualistic symbol. It’s the first of many discoveries—six bodies in total. Each victim bears the same eerie mark, prompting the rookie sheriff to pass the case off to the FBI.
FBI agents Sadie Gray and Brad Tulle arrive to investigate, but the locals are tight-lipped, the sheriff’s office is useless, and the forest itself seems... alive. With each hard-fought lead, Brad and Sadie uncover a chilling web of occult activity and unexpected violence, only to learn that the murders are part of something much darker and far older than either could have imagined.
The deeper they get into the case, the more danger burns bright, time seems to warp, and the line between reality and hallucination blurs. What started as a hunt for a sadistic killer becomes a fight for survival as Sadie and Brad rip back the layers of an ominous legend, buried deep in the heart of the forest, and the cult occupying it.
Nothing is as it seems, and the murders aren’t random—they’re part of a larger, twisted plan, one involving the FBI, and Sadie in particular. Will Sadie survive her strangest case ever? And if she does, who will she be when it’s over? Prepare for the unexpected, and an ending you won’t see coming…

FBI agents Sadie Gray and Brad Tulle are solid partners in this creepy crime thriller. They've got "go bags" ready for their next crime-fighting adventure that's in Northern California. It's beyond gruesome as they find a dead person hanging from a tree and five other people who suffered bizarre, satanic, ritualistic murders. Sadie and Brad are "kick a** and take names later" and this case was no problem whatsoever for them. Plus, Sadie had the pleasant distraction of a new guy, Barret, but there were very few references to him throughout the book so it seemed to be an irrelevant sub-plot.
With all that's going on in the world today, it was tough to read about the occult and how horribly evil people can be to one another. Also, I read this book then quickly realized it was #6 in the "FBI Agent Sadie Gray series so I probably should have read those books first. Ah well.
I love this series. Sadie, Brad and all the other amazing characters make this a mystery thriller full of sarcasm, humor, wit and really, really bad people. Once you start it you won't want to stop until the last word. Clear your calendar and mind so you can dive deeply into this book. So, so good!!!
You can count on Ryan for a great read, no matter the series, or time frame. His writing is captivating and keeps me turning pages long past bed time. I can't even pick a favorite anymore. The Sadie Gray series is awesome and I'm always eager for the next book to come out. READ ANYTHING RYAN, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.
Another awesome story in the FBI series. I just love the Sadie-Brad Duo. They work very well together and I love the way they are so comfortable with each other. Very well written with some twists & turns. This one made my heart happy too. Can't wait for the next installment. A must series.
This book didn't disappoint, a good continuation of this series. The plot had enough twists and turns to to keep the reader interested. The pages flew by and the end seemed to come way too soon. The characters in the book are a bit different but mesh well to make the story flow.
Another, can't put the book down story about Sadie Gray. The stories keep getting better and better. You find yourself laughing, gasping, afraid and can hardly wait to read more about Sadie, Brad, JC, and now Barrett..
