Mostly an interesting read with some new insights I’ll definitely try out! But the writing felt pretty flat and gave off ChatGPT vibes, which threw me off at times.
‘You can use your mind to worry, stress and overthink or you can use it to believe, create and focus. The choice is yours.’
wow, what a book! i am the kind of reader who usually prefers reading fiction over non-fiction, however, this is an extremely brilliant exception to that rule. maya’s down-to-earth, simplistic approach to breaking down one of the most complex topics—the power of the mind—had me hooked from the very first page to the last. even more, i immediately wanted to start reading again just to consume and fully internalise her wisdom, carefully collated personal insights and experiences, knowledge and visualisation techniques.
i can’t wait to put this into practice & start building another compelling, yet definitely challenging healthy habit soon!
I feel this would have been more useful if I had listened vs read, the entirety of part 2 didn’t resonate when reading but I will be going back to this section as and when needed so perhaps I will gain more now that I have finished reading. It would have been great to include a few of the visualisations for those who’ve purchased via an exclusive link to really strengthen the book.
There are some interesting points in the book that I liked. This could have been a 40-page booklet or a long blog post. There's so much repetition over and over again especially in the visualization techniques.
The structure of the book is all over the place. In the first part, you try to convince why visualization is good in order to setup the premise of the book. Second part should be focused only on visualization techniques but it goes on and on still trying to convince you in-between showing the techniques. The Visualization playlist is essentially different songs from the same set of artists. The last part is a mishmash of some other productivity books like Atomic Habits and siblings.
Overall, skim through it, skip if you see repetition. Visualize, think and feel in your mind that you have read the entire book.
I think this may be the most important book I've read all this year (2025). I've been looking for a good visualization instruction for a while and this one checked all the boxes for me and I just can't wait to put in the work.
I certainly got more out of it than from a certain classic visualization book. I know myself enough now to know I need more than vague, fluffy 1970s hippie speak, as well-meaning and helpful as it may be. I am a millenial; I need you to hold my hand and lead me right to the water, please.
I've read many books on this topic but Maya made this so incredibly easy to understand I wish I read this before any other over complicated book on this topic.
Since implementing practices she talks about my mind and body have transformed and I've become a high performer who loves life no matter how hard or easy it is.
Every day is the best, because I know I have full control of my mind at any point.
Maya has a unique skill to distill complex topics into digestable and easy-to-understand ideas. If you have goals, dreams, desires but feel stuck in your mind, with fear and doubt, this is a foundational book for you. It is the beginning of a journey that will change who you are, how you show up. It is a book I will coming back again and again to find inspiration. The practical and step by step visualisations are a game changer
Loved every bit of it. I've read it once and plan to use it as a guidebook. It's such an excellent book on Visualization. Practical exercises to help you succeed. It is a must-read book for all the dreamers, doers, and people who plan to achieve big and do great things in life. Thank you Maya for this wonderful book.
I've been looking for a good book on visualization, since I find it hard to visualize - and found this great book on visualization! Love the clear, straightforward breakdown on how to visualize, and will definitely be implementing these techniques (in the 30 day challenge at the end of this book).
I FINALLY believe that I will be able to visualize! Thanks Maya!
the visualisation technique then athlete example rhythm of this got very very old, i didn’t think this was particularly well written. good message just badly packaged. practical techniques give it some value and i may return to the challenge at the back in future, for now i am glad to move on to something else
The writing is rushed. I follow Maya on IG and I love the way she explains concepts and but the book doesn’t serve. A book is a mirror into the author’s mind, to go deep into a subject. This book also feels like an IG algorithm, touching the surface level. At times, it feels so rushed that the author is in a hurry to reach somewhere but where? But kudos to Maya for her first book!
A fantastic tool box for improving performance. generous in the sharing of strategies, tightly focused in scope and manages to be personally engaging without being navel gazey.
