Another excellent historical fiction novel by Ray Drayton. Many readers will be familiar with the geography and recent history of Fiji and also around London & UK's Counties. The novel brings to near reality the nuclear age and the tensions between the nuclear powers, as acted out by the UK's MI6 Secret Intelligence Service and India's equivalent, with some CIA thrown in for good measure. A mix of Fiji's Military Coups, ethanol , nuclear missiles , some love interest and the power struggles between the native Fijians and Indo-Fijian's makes for a volatile mixture. As is common with Mr Drayton's books , there is a powerful storyline woven through some strong but realistic characters, interspersed with his penchant for well researched military details.
Mr Drayton's depiction and understanding of the native Fijian's bearing & strength of character , along with his unique characterisation of MI6 agents and their progression from Special Forces to Intelligence services in spot on. I think that makes it 6 of Mr Drayton's books "read" for me.
Excellent read, highly recommended, cant wait to get the next one open.

Liked it, but was hard to get into

This book was hard for me to get into. Went back and forth from the current to the past and it did not transition smoothly. I found a lot of this story unbelievable. It was interesting but it was not the book for me.

Mediocre

The story held my interest, however the writing was rather stilted and the very much needed editing was non-existent. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is a stickler for proper editing.

Very interesting

The premise of this novel is very believable. It made me think that this may have gone on in the past, and may be going on today.
