In this line of work, being alive was a gift of its own.
At a distance, there are cotton trees that sway together, like lovers who are shy and yet are hurrying toward each other. When a loud series of crackle sounds from afar, here, it becomes mere humming. When a bomb blows at the foot of the mountain, the branches merely sway here. The flowers only shudder softly, wisps of their petals floating in the air. How beautiful, this place.
