God Must Be a Fly Stories of Grace, Water, and the One Who Cast the First Line
Finding Faith in the Flow of the River - If God created trout and rivers, then surely He must know how to cast a fly.
In God Must Be a Fly Fisherman, Daniel Bryant blends faith, storytelling, and the beauty of the sport into a heartfelt reflection on how the river can teach us about life, love, and the divine.
Through personal experiences and spiritual insight, Bryant shows how the quiet moments on the water — a perfect drift, a sudden rise, a still morning mist — become encounters with God.
This book is for the angler who feels there’s more to fly fishing than the catch. It’s for those who believe that creation is speaking, and that the river is a holy place.
Perfect for fans of John Gierach, devotionals with a rugged twist, and anyone who’s ever felt closer to God in nature than they have in a pew.
Whether you’re a seasoned fisherman or a spiritual seeker, God Must Be a Fly Fisherman will cast light into your soul and hook your heart.
Daniel Ott Bryant, a Desert Storm/Desert Shield veteran, retired from the US Air Force in 1995. As a Middle School Teacher, Historian and storyteller, he has a deep appreciation for all things ancient as well as a vivid imagination for all things to come. Daniel is also the Head Track & Field Coach at beautiful Berea College, in Berea, KY. Married to the same wonderful woman since 1980, he has three children and currently has three grandchildren. Working with his students, athletes and spending time with his family and playing with his dogs are his favorite activities.
A short and to the point story written by a real flyfiser, who has a relationship with God. There are so many wonders one misses until one stops and dwells on the surroundings. God is present; we only have to look. In addition to the wonders of creation, one gets to hear Mr. Bryant give a review of the world's greatest rivers, of the world, in addition to some of the best small streams of the western states. It helped me re-live days in my past.
This book really put the beauty and art of fly fishing into words so poetically. Not only that but I loved how the author related fly fishing to scriptures and God. Truly a nice little light read! I also loved that the author shared some personal stories of his fly fishing experience.
As a Christian and fly fishermen I really enjoyed this book! I am looking forward to my next outing on the water to recall this book and pause to better appreciate the beauty around me and knowledge that our Creator is good and was also a fisherman!
