Disappointing 2 stars.

I haven't shelved this as I couldn't decide where to put it. It's not romance as I really didn't feel there was any romance throughout. Not sure it falls under erotica either.

Story... Brina is sent to spy on Luke and his computer company who are number 1 and the top designer of new apps etc. She works for the competition and is supposed to find information on their new products. However, upon meeting, her aims change as she and Luke fall for each other.

I feel I was missing half a novel. There was no build up. The romance had no build up as Luke and Brina were sleeping together within an hour of meeting. A few days later there is a declaration of love. The sex scenes didn't have any build up and the actual characters never really fully revealed themselves. We never saw characters building and developing. I felt left disappointed as this could have been a great story. Brina and her family's history could have led to a great storyline which would have had me totally engrossed. The concept of her spying on the opposition and gradually falling for him could have been great and enthralling with a huge 'will they won't they' element. For me this was the theme... could have been great.

"Slow down, pay attention, and drink it in. And don't forget to share it with the ones you love."

"But I didn't want to rush things with Brina. She was the kind of girl I could see myself marrying and I didn't want to jeopardize that just to satisfy my intense sexual craving. There was more to our relationship that that and I was determined to prove it"

So after I read Chase by Cassia Leo (See my review for that here), I just had to pick up Luke! I am a really big fan of Cassia Leo's writing style. She is tastefully erotic and descriptive without being too over the top with the raunchy sex scenes or anything like that.
Now did I like Chase more than Luke, yes I did. But the only reason why is because I felt like Luke was a little too drawn out. I read the whole thing and all 7 sections has something else to offer and are entertaining, but I was done with the characters and their story after second 5 or so. But that is not really a bad thing, the last two were still well done.

Luke is wonderfully written and stays true to himself the entire story. I love how warm and caring he is and how he is not scared of his emotions. I had a bunch of awe moments with him for sure!

Brina is great! She has dealt with some major tragedies, staying as strong as to be expected through it all and really is a woman that I can respect. I really enjoyed her POV and being able to be in her thoughts.

My favorite parts were all the ones on Luke's boat! I mean, they are just so great!!

Completely baffled by the overall rating this series has on Goodreads.
****Spoilers below****

This was a poorly written story, and was rushed in parts 1-3. The whole story was just all over the place, and it didn't flow well at all. The storyline jumped all over...was it meant to be a series about corporate espionage, a story about a women/man recovering from issues within their family, was it about a couple finding out they could make it through betrayal...pick a friggin theme or if its gonna be multiple, please relate the entire story. And if its about sex, then please give something more than what equates to a paragraph romp in which everyone is having toe curling, name screaming, earth shattering multiples. And let's just throw in a "oh no...who's the daddy" situation. And the reality of looking at your breasts and thinking oh no I must be pregnant is utterly stupid.

Mostly listened to this because of a challenge.. and I don't regret it one bit. Mostly.

The Luke Series definitely had it's ups and downs. Some books I liked and some I didn't. Some characters I liked and some I didn't. Do I even need to mention the story lines?? The one thing that I liked throughout the book: the smut!!

The entire series is about Luke Maxwell and his relationship with Brina. She's a spy in the beginning but eventually becomes his girlfriend/fiancé/wife throughout the book. It gives you your fair share of drama, which some honestly made me roll my eyes. It also gives you sweet moments when they are a couple too. I enjoyed getting to know them and watching their relationship grow.

These two realize that they can do anything when they take on the world together. They also realize that no one else matter to them (other than their children) because they are with their person. Their love of their life. It was a match made in dramatic heaven. I liked them and these short books but I kind of wish it was longer?

I got the first one initially in this series - MIRROR - because it was free on Amazon. Saw it promoted on the author's Facebook and thought it looked interesting enough to read. I read her book "Relentless," and was very impressed with it, so I wanted to see the other sides of her imagination. The first book was short and ended rather quickly so, since it left me with many unanswered questions and a need to know more, well, the only thing left to do was to buy the rest of the books. Imagine how happy I was to see it was sold as a collection.

Now, you may become annoyed with my review, but that is because I will not give you a play by play of what it is about, since the book descriptions tell you that...nor will I go into specific detail since you need to journey with the characters all on your own to truly become submersed in the rollercoaster of emotions and not live vicariously through whatever little spoiler nuggets might be placed in a review. This story, while similar to some other popular reads currently circulating the literary world about the rich, hot, hung man has a different back story and a much different demeanor and personality.

While it is true that most of your rich, young entrepreneurs are cocky, slightly conceited, domineering, bossy and may often seem distant and cold, Luke Maxwell was more like a rich hug than just a rich boy. With first impressions always being what we often remember, his first impression was somewhat misleading. He drew you in and forced you to wonder just what that was all about. His matter of fact approach demonstrated certainty and a knowledge of what he wanted, but as the story progressed, that impression slowly transformed into something that resembled insecurity, fear, uncertainty and a desire for something bigger than his ever growing company and bank account.

Get that idea out of your head if you are thinking he is like two other high powered young rich moguls you know with these extremely traumatic, scarring pasts. The real damage is suffered and caused by Brina, not by Luke...although he does end up a tad more scarred after some revelations and realities surface. But Brina is the one who comes into this not just with a mission, but with her own full set of Samsonite luggage full of her mental and emotional torture that she carries with her EVERYWHERE.

Now, there were many times in this book series as it progressed that I said to myself, "why isn't he/she asking this?" or "why is he/she doing or not doing that?", but then I had to remember that in true human form, we are all a bunch of idiots when it comes to any and all matters of the heart and betrayal. we all look back and wish we said or did something differently and, most times, we never get that chance to make that correction. That sure didn't leave me with questions answered. I can tell you, I still have the same questions in my mind I wish were spoken and I guess I will always wonder what the answers would have been.

The series is not a long series, but I found myself more concerned for Luke's well-being than that of Brina. Her behavior warranted her suffering and I am not too sure anyone would feel all that sorry for her, but you still wanted Luke happy. And even though there was a moment where my heart and stomach sank when you get to experience his progression and new form of happiness, you knew he deserved that happiness despite what you knew to be the truth of his heart, his hopes and his wants.

Tit for tat are also not forgotten in the grand scheme of things when it comes to human behavior, as Ms. Leo makes sure that there is a subconscious revenge enacted from Brina. One that later on almost comes back to haunt her once she realizes something is amiss with her, which was made evident accidentally by Luke.

I wished this series was longer and had more of a development into their journey, but there are twists and turns, there is exceptionally bad behavior from Brina, and there is a guy who never forgot where he came from, how he got where he was, what it felt like to climb to that status, what his past was, what needed to be done to rid himself of his one true demon, how to move on and, more importantly, how to be kind, even in a world where he truly seemed to crave a sense of completeness and love.

For a guy who seemed so kind, gentle, lovable and a tad shocking (one sex scene in this book was rather forward, unexpected, presumptuous and confusing since it made you think you were either wrong about Luke or you were more right than you thought and he just truly was consumed and excited by what Brina brought to him) he truly seemed to be consumed inside with a sense of loneliness...it seemed like a type of loneliness that may have had him leaping over the ledge before he actually had a chance to truly get his footing.

Fortunately, a series of very unfortunate events take place, break his heart, almost break him, but force him to face his truth and put everything back into perspective so he could embrace what it is he needs for his future.

Again, I wish it was longer, but it was refreshing to see a rich, hot, young guy be more "boy next door" as opposed to someone almost untouchable.

I liked Luke very much, and find that he has been happily admitted as one of my many "Fictional Boyfriends." He truly was a good man and seemed to be the sort who would be honest, loving, faithful and would always carry himself in his woman's absence as he would in her presence. what more could a girl ask for...Plus he is rich, hot and HUNG...what a winning combination...Love a GOOD man....4.5 ✩

This didn't work for me.
Woman - secretly an industrial spy btw- goes for a job interview with 28 year old self-made hawt billionaire from Seattle (yup, I thought that too - what is it about Seattle and billionaires?), he asks her one question, he hires her and asks her to go for a ride (ahem) on his yacht. An hour later they're having sex. No build up, no chemistry, nothing.
It didn't get any better sadly. They were in love in days - so they said but I wasn't feeling it - but she's still planning to steal his secrets. Uh?
The witty banter was this book's saving grace and some sections of this were better than others but overall it didn't work for me. The sex scenes were ok but nothing special.
Disappointing.

I read the stories separately, not as the set, but its just easier to review them as one. The first two stories of Luke and Brina were enough for me to buy the rest if the series but it really wasn't until the fourth that I really fell in love with it. In the fourth the real emotions started coming out and I felt what they were going through. That is the work of a good author. My heart ached for the pain Brina was feeling from the loss of her brother. Don't we all wish we had a Luke in our lives to help ease some of that pain and take our tears away?

In the Luke series Cassia Leo delivers readers a to-the-point story. For the avid reader it is a quick read series that delivers. You get the feeling that Brina is an ace at what she does, until she finds the subject of her newest and probably biggest job irresistible. Luke did not get to where he is by chance either so when the two meet, it becomes an explosive, and often steamy, relationship. As all of us, these two have a past that makes it hard for them to open up personally. This series deals with two issues that I found very personal to me. This is what kept me reading to the point of not wanting to put the book down (or in my case, turn the Kindle off). Thank you Cassia for bringing steamy scenes along with real-life issues. This book also offers POV's from both main characters which I liked very much. Most books in the erotica genre come from the woman's POV and leaves readers a desire to know what the male character is thinking. There are some unexpected turns in the series and she does a wonderful job at bringing everything around to sum it up at the end. A must read!

The beginning was a little to fast paced for me. The following may be considered spoilers once I'm over my initial hesitantion I love the characters. They are cute together. They take a break and have a great time as friends while getting to know one another without the pressures of her previous job. I really enjoyed midway through when the author gave both their POV's.

Worst case of “insta-love” that I have ever read. Just downright awful.
Spoiler: The heroine comes into the hero's office for an interview, & they end up screwing within the course of an hour. WTH?!?
Has this author ever held a corporate job before? I realize that it's "fiction" & that I'm supposed to suspend my disbelief; however, this novel's opening chapters were just too over-the-top.

Let me start off by saying I LOVE LUKE! He is unlike any Billionaire I've read about. He is sweet, caring, kind, smart and sexy as sin. Oh Luke....

There is five novella's in this series. There is another two out there as well!! A Valentine's short and #6! Both are MUST reads as well... Anywho, lets to get this review.

In Mirror (#1), We are introduced to Brina Kingston and Luke Maxwell. Brian is undercover for a rival computer company, trying to learn Luke's secrets. Brina gets her foot in the door, but she never plans on falling for Luke, yummy Luke. I didn't known If would like him because he was all about sex right off the bat.... And there is Milo... I don't like to talk about him until towards the end...

In Memory (#2), We find out that Brina is taking care of her parents and a little bit about her brother. While reading, you can tell that Luke and Brina have this connection and Brina keeps getting sucked in more and more. Then she finds something that could totally change her life....

In Linked (#3), We are introduced to Brina's bestfriend Jill, whom I LOVE! We find out that it's Luke's birthday and he invites Brina to his birthday party. Luke wants Brina has his girlfriend... Swoon... And he makes a huge confession that links them together. And then she does something stupid and of course Milo is involved...

In Password (#4), The novella goes to both Brina's and Luke's POV... I LOVE THIS!!! Milo helps Brina try to fix things.... But of course things get screwed up... Brina and Milo get a little too close.. BOOOOOO BUT End the end of this book, Luke finds Brina and they make a deal.

In Timeout (#5), 30 days of just being friends.... Nothing... to make sure that they could face anything together... This novella is in both POV's too! I'm not going to reveal too much, but I love this book! It was probably my favorite. The ending wasn't what I expected. <3

I love this couple. This series is a must read, especially if you are over the controlling, possessive dominate males! Luke is just amazing.

One of the worst books I have read. I hate doing bad reviews, but I have to be honest. There is no real story line, no build up to anything, you turn a page and it jumps to something else. it lacks the depth and emotion and the 'in between' bits. I paid £2.99 for this, and read it in a short few hours s its short book, its not worth the charging price. I felt as if the writer has shoved anything together without any real though to the story or characters, leaving so much out in-between that its left to the reader to 'imagine' this is something that as a reader you should not have to do. You cant really connect to the characters, far to much is shoved in to make a story line without any real content, lacks any real sex scenes and character development. the story is unrealistic from start to finish, within hours shes meeting him had sex and in love! and the pregnancy part is ridiculous, hes looking at her bog breasts and so oh no she must be pregnant! i mean come on! atlest make it realistic and exciting the whole book is based like that, unrealistic. Very poorly written. Had there been a romantic build up, more engagement of characters and getting to know them more, this book would have been a good read, instead its almost as if the writer has no clue how to write this kind of book, shame when writers produce poor quality, over price it to milk it and put no thought or heart in to it.

I am finally making a dent into my Edinburgh reading list for July! Yay!

Okay, so overall I gave this series a four out of five stars. It did read very easily and kept me wanting to push onto the next section of the book.

However, at the end of this series, I did find myself asking the big question of whether I would read this series had I purchased each one separately. My verdict... Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't have.

The only reason I say this is because I wasn't entirely feeling the first two books. And for this reason, it would have probably stopped me from reading on. I don't know...

BUT... And this is a BIG but! I do think that the story takes off from the third book. I was literally glued to it and wanting more. So for that alone, I upped from three to four stars.

I did really like Cassia's writing, so I will pick up more from this author in the future.

Young rich CEO in Seattle - what else does one need? Throw in some technology espionage and a fast pace romance and you get it all packed into this story.

Brina works for the competition, but soon she will be working for Luke Maxwell and will learn the secrets of his new program. That is if she can avoid falling hard for the hot CEO. Luke knows about her past - but as he gets to know her better he realizes that the pain goes much deeper than he thought.

This was a great short story series, although Luke seemed to be so eager to fall in love and that he came across as so private at first - it seemed odd that he was such an all in type of guy.

But I did enjoy it - he was uber-sweet and was just a hint of an 'I get what I want at all cost' type of guy. Brina's character was endearing and with just the right amount of broken that made you want to hold her while she cried.

I have given this series two stars because I liked the characters and the storyline was ok, but... it had a few problems which was disappointing because the storyline had so much more potential. Problem one this reads Luke; the complete series, this is one book with seven parts to it, each part having 5 chapters.Problem number two when having a job interview with a potential new boss a normal person does not have sex with him within 10 minutes, that's just nasty, I kid you not this all happened before the end of the first chapter. Problem number three there were two main characters in this book but everything revolved around Brina's problems, even when Luke was dealing with a family death she turned it all around to be about her. Over-all I am disappointed because this series could have been so much more. Narrated by Kristen Leigh and Lee Samuels who both did a great narration.

I just want to start by saying I know I am not a writer, and I understand and appreciate the difficulty of being a writer. In no way do I want my review ot seem rude. I just am giving my opinion as a reader.

I chose 3 stars for this series for a few reasons. I felt like this was a story line I have read multiple times before; it seemed rushed; and it had unnecessary add on stories. With that being said, I know as a reader you are supposed to use your imagination to create some of the story, but I felt like some key details were left out where they needed to be and some added details were placed where they weren't needed at all.

In general I like the overall story. I just wanted it to be a little more polished/developed, and I didn't need the extra at the end. I would still recommend this read to a friend, because while there were things about it I didn't quit like another would.

WTF keeps going through my head now that I've finished this book. There were so many WTF moments in this book. Such as:

1. How incredibly fast Luke and Brina's relationship began
2. Luke telling Brina he loved her after like 5 minutes
3. Their working relationship (whatever that was)
4. The fact that Luke paid for her brother's funeral?? huh
5. The fact that Brina "forgot" she slept with Milo
6. The fact that Brina stopped taking her pill due to depression, then wasn't sure who the daddy was

This was a poorly written story, and at times, it felt very much like I was watching a bad porno movie. The whole story was just all over the place, and it didn't flow well at all. The only thing that made it worthwhile where the steamy love scenes.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Just can't get enough! I freaking loved this series!!! Luke was such an amazing lead character and you couldn't help but fall in love with him. The love story between him and Brina exploded through the pages as well as the love scenes. You couldn't help but feel the sexual tension between the two. I liked some parts more than others but overall it was a great book that kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't wait to read more and didn't want to stop. I was sad to see that it was over but very glad with the ending! Great series!!! Cassia is such a fantastic author and I can't wait to read more from her!

This was a fun, HOT fast paced little read.

I bought all 5 of them when they were on sale for $5 each.

I’m not going to tell you about each one in detail, well because I can’t remember what happened in each one as I read them all in a row! LOL

I can tell you that I loved Luke Maxwell! I didn’t agree with some of the stupid shit he did.. Ie – try to move on by moving in with another chick? That really pissed me off!

And I certainly didn’t agree with some of the stuff that Brina did either.

But all in all we got:
Some hot scenes
Some witty banter
Some hot scenes
Some drama
Some more hot scenes

And a sweet sweet HEA!

What more do we want really?

DNF at page 15. These two lines did it for me:

1. --Dude takes her to his yacht 3 minutes after meeting her across town in his office. in wheelhouse... "He smiled as he led me toward the ship's wheel. 'Go ahead, touch it'." Really, author???? Touch my hard wheel? Saw this one coming, unfortunately.

2. --Chick giving Dude head 1 minute later after touching his hard ships wheel... "He tasted clean and juicy with just a hint of saltwater. A true seaman". *shakes head*

HMMMMMM LOVED IT!

Short and sweet, this book was perfect! Luke is what you call an erotic romance and it has just enough erotica in it for me to be pleased but not bored with an insane amount of sex scenes.

I loved the story!!!

If you're looking for a fast read that will make you happy, read Luke!!!!

No build up

This could have been a really good book. However there was absolutely no build up of the characters or of one specific plot. This book had about 5 different plot twists but they were never fully developed. Everything from the sex, love, betrayal and ultimate "happiness" where rushed and never built up into anything.

A solid 4.5 stars for me. There were some details I feel we're missing from some scenes but I dig the love between these two characters so I guess it works regardless.

I would love to hear what happened to Milo. His character played a large part in the relationship of Luke and Brina and I would like some closure. He seemed hot. Maybe there should be a series about him *wink*

Are you freakin kidding me with this book? I did not even finish it, and that's extremely rare for me. Brina has absolutely zero ethics or character, and she and Luke sleep with each other after 1 conversation, why?!! It's so ridiculous. Ugh.
