I most often compare my work to Twilight meets 50 Shades (my vampires in Cora's Choice are more dark and angsty, and the S/M elements grow more and more pronounced as the series progresses), but the names that readers most often mention are Anne Rice and Sherrilyn Kenyon.
In Cora's Choice, Cora's Bond, and the following series, I wanted to show a heroine's journey from ordinary girl to someone super tough. This is a journey of months--years, even. So many stories start with an Anita Blake-type, able to kick ass and take names from the first we meet her. I thought it would be awesome and really interesting to show someone becoming that person through tiny changes that build on each other.
My world puts a different twist on everything from vampires (they're alive) to elves (aliens) and demons (interdimensional djinn). The Alpha's Captive series features a kickass heroine out of the gate, while Cora's Choice series--followed my Cora's Bond and others--has my "big" character story line.
Yes, there's an HEA. :) But the story keeps going on!

Same review posted to all parts of this serial.
Since this is a serial and I more or less read all the books in one sitting, I'm reviewing these books as one. All the books follow wolf shifter Levi and Harper, his voluntary hostage. Levi never really kidnapped Harper, she kidnaps herself. He steals her car and seeing as much as she loves the car, she jumps into the car while Levi is driving away.
The characters have good chemistry and hit it off from the very first page. Both Harper and Levi are a little dense as none of them ever consider their phones having GPS that can be tracked. It's something I saw from the very beginning, and it annoyed me that it never dawned on them even though the bad guys kept finding them time and time again. Seriously, how stupid can these characters get? I kept shaking my Kindle in hopes to shake some sense into these characters. True fax.
Levi and Harper kept putting themselves in these crazy situations that made me want to smack them upside their heads. There is a lot of drama and even more action in this story. At times it gets to be a little too much. It's that “too much” that pushes the books into annoying at times. An engaging story, though I'm not completely happy with how the story ended. It feels unresolved. Open ended.

Another fantastic cover, Levi is looking very awesome in either form :)
This is a serial novella series, and this is the last book. You must read them in order, or you will have no idea what is going on.
This book was jam packed full of excitement and steamy sex scenes. I really love Harper’s ability to talk her way out of anything :) Both of them would do anything for each other, and I find that really sexy :) Their ability to have sex in some of the most dangerous of situations amazes me, and it’s very ballsy.
So this ended way too quickly for me, but I loved every moment. I really hope that we will get to see more of both of them in future books by V.M. because I want to know what happens next and does Harper get what she wants. V.M. is an amazing story teller and her vivid writing bring everything to life.
I highly recommend this serial to shifter lovers everywhere who enjoy serials. This serial is complete and a very enjoyable read :)

I really enjoyed this last book. They still went to the party like I had hoped, and it ended in no way that I could predict. Everything about it was intense until the end. The one thing that did bother me was about Levi's old captor showing up out of where. That whole part was barely touched upon and the ending came up so quickly I feel as if I was cheated. All in all I really liked it and recommend it to anyone looking for an easy entertaining read,

This is the final installment of the series. Harper and Levi- I really do love these two characters. They are so flawed and yet so perfect for each other you can't help but fall in love with them. They now must both go to Mortenson's in order to be able to decrypt the micro-drive using the infamous "toaster" hidden somewhere on the estate. The book is not lacking in both Drama/action and hot sex scenes.
The only reason I gave it a four star rating was because the story ended too abruptly for me. It left me with some unresolved questions. I felt that there still needed to be some closure, some vindication for Levi to prove his family wrong after they turned their backs on him.

I am giving this review for author V.M.Black. This is part 7 of the novella series The Alpha's Captive from the author.
Harper and Levi are now making their way into the vampire grounds in order to complete the mission and get the complete goods on Mortensen to help bring him down. Little do they know that it will not be as easy as they first thought but with help from Beane they do find a way out.
I love the characters Levi and Harper because they are so funny and real like. The story line flow was very smooth from start to finish in this novella.
This novella and series is for mature paranormal romance readers because of sexual content. It was a pleasure to read this book and series by the author and I can't wait to see what new stories comes out of author VM Black mind.

Awesome series!!!!
Harper and Levi - you have to.love them both seriously!! this series keeps you o. the edge of your seat. Harper is the girl you wish you could imitate! she can work on cars drive a motorcycle and dress up to the hilt! Levi has more skeletons in the closet and I was screaming for him to finally spill it and tell us his secrets!! the only thing negative I have to say is I wish it was longer somethings just went to fast but OMG you just have to read this but heads up you need to read them I. order!!! Happy reading!! hope you all enjoy them as much as I did!! :)

Harper was being chased in the hotel and she is hoping Levi comes and help her soon when they cornered her at the taxi. Levi is trying to get out of the hotel and is hoping they are following him instead of Harper. When Levi came across Harper fighting some men he was not happy and he went and helped her. Levi is talking to Chay about what they're going to do to get in and out before anyone notices that they are there. There's a set back when he bumped into the one person that could recognize him after all these years. Time is running out and hopeful Chay comes through with getting the information of the SD card.

A great finish to Harper and Levi's story. I have to admit that I was hoping to seeing Veronica and Mortensen dead. That would have been icing on the cake; maybe give Levi and the werewolf community some closure.
The finale picks up right where book 6 stops. The action is immediate and doesn't stop until the last page. I'm curious to see if this couple makes an appearance in any future stories. Will Harper get her wish to be like Levi? We'll we see more of Mortensen or Veronica?
No doubt that I'll continue reading V.M. Black's books.

Where we all held our collective breaths at the end of Ms. Black's last novel, this one answered all of our prayers....including Harper's. Finale was just that, the end of this series that I loved so much, sad to see it go but the author did not disappoint. But seriously, if it's your last night to survive how do YOU want to spend it?

This installment is a good finish to the series. Levi and Harper have a wild ride until the end. Their confrontation with Mortensen and someone from Levi's past makes for an intense, but satisfying grand finale.

Levi has rescued Harper for Mortensen's goons, and they are on their way to the party. after sneaking in, they must find a way to slip into the office and attach the wifi and thumb drive to the toaster. With Beane's help, what can go wrong. It's an ending to keep you on the edge of your seat..
