A short time ago, Dylan was an average teenager living in the domed city of Genero. Now, however, Dylan knows the truth. She is far from normal. She’s not even human. She and all the kids of Genero are hybrids, a mixture of angel and human DNA created specifically to save Lily, the dying soulmate of the first of the fallen, Luc.
Dylan thought she knew who she could trust, thought she could rely on the few people who had chosen to rise up and fight against Luc and Lily. However, she learned that was not true when first a fellow sister from Genero, Ellie, turned on her.
Then again when Ellie marched her into an amusement park so that her former guardian, the same woman she had thought she could trust above everyone else, could hand her over to Luc.
Note: The 4th and final book will be out mid-October.
I really enjoyed these books, i very nearly all four in a week. I couldn’t put them down, fortunately I had bought all four of the books in this series because I can’t find the author on Amazon or any other selling platform to buy others that she’s written
I am writing this review for all3 "books" in the series so far.
First of all, why these were published as separate books is a mystery. All 3 are little more than short stories; I read all 3 in 5 days. The double spacing of the print makes these read fast.
The story itself is another post apocalypse story, this one about 40 years after a nuclear war destroys civilization. The story then takes a supernatural twist, as the angels and gargoyles step in, each with their own agendas for humans.
The main story, however, centers on "hybrids", with mixed angel and human DNA, most of whom were created in a lab to produce a cure for a virus that is killing the angels, and one 17 year old girl, Dylan, in particular who has the perfect blend of mixed DNA. All of the competing factions want something from Dylan.
In some ways similar to H Alt's "Oblivion" the story is fun and does keep moving. There is one more installment coming in this series next month that I will be looking for.
I technically finished this last night. However I didn't want to write a review without thinking about it. I have and I like this book. I don't love it. I like the ending, the progression but why doesn't it finish?
The series feels like a trilogy, and realistically it could have been. Theres a new book and I'll not prejudge before I've read it, but really she could have wrapped this whole thing up in 200 more pages of this book.
Nothing else to add except I have enjoyed reading this series, and I think I'll try and catch Brenda L.Harper's books again, this is the second series I've read that shes done and I like it. Her writing style suits how I read.
Yes, I love this series and moving on to book 4 the moment I finish writing my review. This has been enjoyable journey into a world half familiar to us and half not. The characters have been worth following and great storyline to match! Definitely recommend checking out this series =).
I loved it. It was definitely a great young adult book. It was good to see stiles got to go back home with some of the others. I can't wait to see what happens next now that Lily is gone. And too see if the humans and hybrids can coexist together.
Again good book and well paced for a short read! Felt like this was the end of the series though by the end of the book. Will be anxious to see what is in store for the final book.
