[THIS REVIEW COVERS THE WHOLE 2024 RUN OF SHANGRI-LA FRONTIERS, SO THE VOLUMES FROM 18 TO 21].
The narrative arc of Shangri-La Frontier in which our protagonists go hunting Ctnaridd is unfortunately a let down in respect of the GGC arc of the previous volumes. Instead of giving us a narrative focus or an expansion of the lore, the manga proposes a full fanservice part of the plot in which gender swaps, masks unveiling, lovers who are helped by the loved ones and, in general, a study on what the fan desired the most are the core instead of the great ideas in fights of the previous ones. The enigmas are very cool, and the way our protagonist achieves a new form outside the game is original in the sense of what this manga represents: a tribute to MMO. Also, the fact that the way for arriving to Ctnaridd boss fight reminds a lot of Dungeons & Dragons, as a liar ready to be ambushed and even quotes and references by the characters, adds another layer of nostalgia into a production which is very well balanced in this sense, another tribute of fantastic level. However, these elements are secondary in respect to the focus of the big struggle of these chapters, in which, while being motivated by the plot, the whole patterns are based on satisfying the reader's fantasy.
this volume had me at the edge of my seat like my excitement was over the top Amazing Praise for the people that invested their time and energy into this masterpiece and the readers 👏👏👏👏
