A Sensitive Heart

Rate this book
Raini Smith was first introduced in Cynical Heart. She had finally gotten away from her hateful sister Cassandra Kendell and became a nanny to Cab and Dana Howard’s baby girl. Raini had a very dark past and she kept her secrets to herself out of fear that if her new employers discovered her shame, she would have no other alternative but to return to her sister and live the remainder of her life in hell.

Dizzy Howard was the most sensitive of the five Howard Brothers, and ever since he was a small boy, he felt obligated to help the downtrodden or wounded, be they animal or human. When he first met Raini Smith in LA, she was the type of person that his heart always went out to. So he befriended her with the intention of bringing her out of her shell and showing her that just like anyone else, she too could have a happy life and existence. Unfortunately, there was a problem. He had no intention of ever falling in love with Raini, but he did, and if what his siblings were telling him was true, then Raini had fallen in love with him as well. Although she never voiced how she felt for him or ever displayed any kind of affection towards him, Dizzy felt that even though what he was feeling was right, the timing was all wrong. Raini was far too fragile to deal with any kind of emotional entanglement in her present condition and because of that, he tried his best to remain emotionally detached. But Dizzy didn’t kid himself. He knew that in spite of the oversized drab clothing that she always hid herself inside of, there was a beautiful woman underneath just waiting to be released.

When his sisters took a dowdy Raini under their wings and gave her a coming out transformation of sorts, Diz was floored by the beautiful butterfly that had finally emerged from her cocoon. He wanted her now more than ever, but being a little confused by his feelings for her, he stubbornly refused to let his heart go and set out to dowse the flames of his growing attraction, offering only a token friendship instead.

The book was so engrossing I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down!!! No spoilers, but I will say that the villains in this, and one of the preceding books, A Cynical Heart, make Cersei Lannister look like the sweetest lady in the world!! 🤣🤣🤣I'm typing this review at 8:45 am and now I need to take my ass to sleep!!!💤💤💤

OMG! Everybody heart!

This is my second time reading this story in the Heart series! Omg there are envious people in this world, but to have your own mother turn against you...snatched your heart outta your chest! To be mentally and physically abuse...no words to describe the pain. This story BRO wrote so amazingly, prices there is God present, all around! Loved it more the second time!!!

Great addition to the series

This one kept me guessing and it was a great read. Nice to see Dizzy grow into a man in this book. And as always a great intro to the next in the series.

Riveting

As always Vivian delivers again. The growth in her characters along with their depth keeps you riveted. So much happens and I appreciate her characters opening up and communicating to each other instead of running away and dragging it out.

Dizzy and Raini

These men this family had to overcome many obstacles, but they overcame them determination and love. Dizzy and Raini , loved each from the start. It just took some time for Dizzy to get it together. Beautiful story.

Filled with surprises

Dizzy and Raina went through so much as they found their way to each other. Obsession and jealousy could have destroyed Rai but the love of family saved her.

Hated!

I am truly heartbroken. I used to check Amazon out at least several times a month looking for new releases by this author. However with this series I've seen a shift in her writing that makes me believe someone else wrote the previous books. It's just not the same (still typos but the engaging characters are gone). Anyway on to my review.

This book contains abuse both physical and mental. Not only that, it contains molestation attempts by a step parent. I'm am not a fan of children or young adults being sexually abused in my romance novels. Kills the vibe. In addition, I wasn't able to connect to the characters and believe them. The author did not convince me that the heroine had no choices in her decisions. Each plot twist seemed over dramatic and not realistic.

This is the sixth book of the Heart series and I absolutely love this book, this family and this series. I have read previous books by this writer and they were lackluster but this series gets a plus. I love the original plots for all the books, I felt the writer always gave a little extra. By now I wished the writer/editor knew the difference between plurals and possession. The same editing mistakes in book one that were never corrected continue on to all the books In the series. As the story got exciting words were missing and I found myself filling in the blanks. Did I mention I love the book and the series???

Truly (Heart warming)

The last Howard family book is intriguing, enraging, loving, exciting, and heart breaking. However, the best part is redeeming and forgiving. I love the ladies and how they love and compliment the brothers. This is truly a great read. I gave 4 stars because there are so many type Jo's. Sorry.
