The first short story based on the Latakia Billows trilogy, The Copper Scroll introduces Walter Billows, Latakia's grandfather, in an adventure beginning in the caves of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Walter unearths a strange copper scroll, and the contents send him on a journey through the desert in search of an even greater prize.
Tom Treweek used to be an award-winning journalist, but now he finds more satisfaction telling his own stories. He is a bald, tattooed skeptic who would rather be completely off his rocker than anything resembling normal. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Tom has since lived in New Mexico and Arkansas, although he still considers the places in his imagination as his home. He watches way too many of Gordon Ramsay’s television shows, even though he is dismayed by the lack of profanity. Even though he loves sushi, he has no idea whether or not he should eat the shrimp tails. Dutchman’s Mine is his first, and likely his most family-friendly, novel.
What a great short story about the length of a long chapter. It introduces us to Latakia's grandfather and his adventure after finding a copper scroll in the caves of Qumran, it takes off into the desert with his new found companion in search of a great treasure Looking forward to the next short story to keep me going until the next full length adventure arrives. Thanks Tom love these stories and characters.
