Nora Jennings quit her job as a photographer for a small community newspaper to fulfill her dreams of traveling. First stop- Kashmir, the land renowned as heaven on Earth.
But dreams have a terrible habit of turning into a nightmare. And suddenly she finds herself bound and gagged in Afghanistan, ready to be wedded to Pashtun brute, Adam Afridi.
Note: The story is a short reads series and unfolds over a multiple of volumes
Clarissa Cartharn is the author of romance novels such as Captive,Perfect Vengeance and the action/romance Jar series.
Traveling, learning new languages and cultures are some of her interests which have inspired her books. She turned her love for writing into a full-pledged passion with her first romance, Winter's End and has since never looked back. After almost ten romance novels, each with eclectic themes ranging from angsty Cinderella inspirations to thrillers set in the barren war torn lands of Afghanistan, Clarissa is currently on a new adventure to find her next love story.
Her Writing Style: 1. A premise 2. Romance 3. Realism 4. Heat. Yep, yep and yep 5. Vulgarity- where needed be. Oh come on, if she's gonna be writing about warlords, arms dealers, drug traffickers and rough-necked soldiers, then please don't expect them to be minding their tenses and grammar. 6. Oh yes, and a plot! Especially, a plot! A darned good one!

This is the 2nd part of this series although you don't have to read the first part to understand part 2 I highly recommend it.
*Spoiler alert for those who haven't read the first part*
Nora Jennings has been though alot in a week; kidnapped, transported twice while being bound, gagged, and drugged, almost raped by Mateen and now faces a forced marriage to Adam Afidi the leader of Dahrul-Ilhaam in Afgahan. (All this happens in Captive #1 and #2 picks up where it left off.)
We start off with Amy and her boyfriend Jake. Amy is worried about Nora's lack of communication and has contacted an agency that says their is nothing she can do and just wait for her friend to call. Then Jake proceeds to distract and comfort her and then we flash back to find out what is happening to Nora.
From Kasmir to Paktika and now Kandahars, Nora is doing the traveling she wanted but not at all like she planned. One picture and her fate was changed and now she fears either becoming a sex slave or killed.
Adam holds her life in her hands. He thinks the only way to save her life is to take her as his wife. Of course being a male who doesn't share his feelings, plans or much of anything he doesn't tell Nora this.
So to sum up we get a quick part 2 of Nora struggling not to mentaly break, Adam trying to 'convince' her to agree to the marriage, and another dreaded cliffhanger.
Will Nora consent to the marriage? Will she ever get free and see her bestfriend Amy again?
Ohhhh my gawd what a cliffhanger. How ohh how could you leave it like that? So can't wait to find out what happens next.
*I recieved a copy from the author in exchange for a review.
Having read book #1 I had high expectations for book #2 well done Ms Cartharn you suceeded! Another awesome story...
This story begins with Nora's best friend and her lover, her friend adamantly believes Nora is in danger, wanting to find her bf she contacts the overseas citizens service only to be told that she has no legal right to look into Nora's affairs.
Nora still held captive by Adam Afridi and being prepared to become his wife? Who are you...? Your husband...
Nora becomes a little unstable and honestly who wouldn't be held captive in a foreign country with no knowledge of what to expect...Adam although mentions that Nora is just a toy and plaything he is starting to react to her as more than his captive...will his growing attachment to Nora change the outcome? What does this mean for the future?
A well written, intriguing and thoroughly fabulous story filled with suspense, drama and a lovely erotic scene that make me want to learn more, not only about Nora and Adam but Nora's best friend Amy and her boyfriend Jake..
Now to eagerly await book 3 in this amazing series..
Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve been hanging out for this second part of the story
I was so pleased to see this second part of the ‘Captive’ story published, having thoroughly enjoyed the first instalment. The story continues with a great introduction to the heroine’s best friend, Amy, and I couldn’t help wondering if she was going to play a crucial part in the story as it unfolded. In this intro, we have a lovely erotic scene. Our heroine, Nora, meanwhile remains in a precarious position, even having been rescued from her potential rapist by the mysterious hero, Adam, her plight is dire. I loved the tension in this story, and the exceptionally well-drawn settings. I was hoping Adam might explain himself to Nora, or at least show some of his growing attachment to her, but what I got was fabulous, a total surprise and exceptional storytelling expertise at the end. I so hope this author is publishing her next part of this story soon, as once again I can’t wait to read it. Great story, gripping drama, so atmospheric, I loved it, must have 5 stars.
I was given a copy of the book for my honest review.
While I was initially intrigued by the story, I am finding some of the editing and writing a little harder to accept.
Part 2 finds Nora still being held captive and being forced to marry Adam. We also get a little more detail on her BFF Amy and Amy's boyfriend Jake. And as this is a serial, this part ends in a cliffhanger.
I am enjoying the actual story, but having a hard time with some of the dialogue. I don't know if the author intends for it to be this way, or if it's just poor editing. I can understand some of the conversations being like they are, when it's the locals speaking. However, when Nora says her groom "smelt" good, I started to wonder....
Now I am invested in the story and wondering if I can continue and just self edit or if I need to cut my losses. I really would like to know how the story ends.
I happened to read the synopsis and found the story to be captivating and hoping that I would be picked to read this short story and review the book. I was not disappointed at all.
Part 2 is the only story that I have read and I was able to keep up with the story and not miss any major points from part 1. Nora has been taken by Adam and is being held captive and being forced to marry Adam. We get a bit of backstory on Amy Nora’s friend and Amy’s boyfriend but not much at all. The most is learned about Adam and who he is.
Overall the story is interesting and has possibilities I am intrigued to see what part 3 brings and if there are more parts the story has the makings to keep me buying Clarissa’s short stories.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. The second part starts out with Nora’s friend Amy telling her boyfriend a personal secret and trying to find out where Nora is. I truly am hooked on this story, but I felt there needed to be more interaction between Nora and Adam. Nothing Adam does is making me like him and I feel like the relationship needs a boost and soon. The sex scene was good and interesting, but I want the relationship between Nora and Adam to evolve quicker. Again, I love where the story is going and am very intrigued as to where the author is taking Adam’s character.

Just.... wow. 'Captive #2' pulled me in just like the first installment of this series did. Nora's living hell just kept getting worse for her. I loved how the story played out, and then at a critical point, bam!, cliffhanger. Although, I shouldn't be surprised. I was aware that this series is a collection of novellas that tell Nora's story. But still, I can't wait for #3 to come out. I loved the characters. Adam seems conflicted and I almost like him. But I'll hold off on confirming his goodness, of sorts, until I learn more as the story plays out. Definitely a must add to your tbr list.
This is a continuation of Captive Book #1 (read #1 before starting this). (copy received from author for honest review)
Adam is an awesome Alpha Norah is an interesting woman. She is strong and stubborn yet has moments of weakness. This book has so much going on - foreign intrigue, danger, sex, angst. It's a short read with a cliffhanger (but #3 is already out)
I really like the story that the author is creating here. It's a unique and different story from all the typical Billionaire meets shy girl. Each character has a depth to them that I find appealing.
I think that if you read them all and in order this author would rock your literary world. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to read Captive #1 but the author sent a copy of #2 to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. It was ALMOST good enough to be a standalone book all by itself, but I was warned it the foreword that such would be the case. Hence the four rating. There was action, and GREAT sex scenes. Weddings, romance, terrorists and smugglers. This book has them all.
It is wedding time in this book. I think I like the character of Adam. He is trying to save Nora's life and he is not all that bad. I think he is like most people are good and bad but I chose to see the good in him. I hope in the next few books that Nora will start to see it too. Can't wait to read the next one to find out what happens next. * This book was given to me from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Captive: Book 2 by Clarissa Cartharn was good, although a little disjointed. Again, like the first book, I felt a need to know these characters more. Ethan needs more, not to just be a former SEAL turned bodyguard, trying to find himself. Aisha, I can get her character, but her need for her mother seems to be like a quick addition (a "by the way"). Yes, they found each other and have struggles with commitment, and what it means to love, but I feel like I need more.....
OMG another clifhanger !! The moment. I started reading couldn't stay away from it!!! Adam is a heck of an Alpha male! I loved , and Nora is a strong women who is struggling to keep her sanity in a foreigner world! I need to know more... Please M Cartharn don't toy with my émotions like that... Hurry up I need to know what is going to happen next!
