Parvez Alam is a Bangladeshi writer and activist. He uses blog platforms to write on history, religion and politics and also writes for newspapers and magazines. His first book ‘Muslim jogoter gyantattik lorai’ (epoistemological battle in the Muslim world, 2011) is about the history of battle between liberal and conservative thoughts during the rise and fall of Islamic golden age of science and philosophy. His second book Shagbager Rashtroprokolpo’ (State-project of shahbag, 2014) deals with the question of secularism in Bangladesh and provides a historical narrative of Shahbag movement. His third and foruth book ‘Jihad O Khelafoter Silsila’ (Geneology of Jihad and Caliphate,2015) and 'Muslim Duniar Khomota Shomporker Itihash' (History of power-relation in the Muslim world,2016) does historical analysis of some of the political Islamist and jihadist ideas and beliefs that are central to many debates in the contemporary world, and a historical analysis of plurality and diversity in the Muslim world. Parvez recently also wrote an English book titled 'Disappearing Public Spheres' which is a brief history of the rise and decline of internet era public spheres in Bangladesh.
