Twenty-year-old Kiersten Grey is done pretending. This BBW virgin has spent her life saving herself for real love—but all she got was Johnathan, a pretty face with a poisonous soul. Verbally abusive and a habitual cheater, he’s dragged her through emotional hell, leaving her questioning her worth and losing pieces of herself just to keep him happy. But that ends now. Kiersten is ready to break free, reclaim her power, and finally learn what it means to choose herself first.
Only problem… Johnathan’s not the type to walk away quietly.
While Kiersten fights for freedom, her older brother Saint Jefferson-Grey is caught in a different war. A self-made hood millionaire with deep ties to the streets, Saint's loyalty runs thick, but so does the pressure that comes with his name. In the midst of it all, he finds unexpected peace in Jream, Kiersten’s bold, beautiful best friend who’s tired of being overlooked. The chemistry between them is instant and dangerous. But with Melody, Saint’s unpredictable on-again/off-again ex still in the picture, love gets complicated fast.
As love and betrayal collide, the streets get hot—and Kiersten finds herself pulled into a deadly game she didn’t ask to play. The bullets ain’t got no names, and when the smoke clears, nothing will be the same.
Will she survive long enough to finally live for herself? Or will the war she didn’t start claim her before she ever gets the chance?
This one was interesting because it was told from a few different POVs, so I honestly wasn’t sure who the main couple was supposed to be. 🤷🏾♀️ Still, the storylines of everyone involved kept me interested enough that I want to see what happens next.
Messy, chaotic, and entertaining but not fully locked in for me yet. (3/5)
Disrespectful, Low-key verbally and physically abusive, unemotionally available, selfish, arrogant is how Johnathan is towards Kiersten. His silly ass his cheating too. Johnathan tried to tear her down with word's. Belittling her work. Kiersten finally gotten fed up. Realizing her self worth and self respect. Kiersten walked away from the relationship. Chaotic ,toxic, loud, childish, wretched, draining. Melody refused to see that Saint was tired of her and her antics after dealing with it for four year's. When things don't go her way. She throws a temper tantrum. Hell I got tired of her ass. Jream have captured Saint attention. Jream brings peace, sanity, and a save place and space. Saint deals with enough noise, drama, and chaos being in the streets daily. He don't want to come home to it. Saint have told her it was over but Melody is stuck on the history they have. She also sees something is brewing between him and Jream. Melody is up to something. A scorn woman is a dangerous woman. The way this ended had my jaw dropping. Kiersten was viciously attacked. I know Jonathan have the "If I can't have her, no one else will" mentality but him doing it would be predictable. I believe Melody is behind it. Melody know how Saint is about family. Hurting his sister Kiersten would definitely be the type of revenge her bitter ass would have done.
Ever, u wring for that ending. But I guess u can calm down for a few was till Part 2 comes out. I ate this right on up today, storyline went at the correct not too many weak FMC. But that dam Mel, gurl how many ways can a ninja tell u I don’t want u and u to toxic for me ma. Dammm
Oh my goodness I can’t believe that ending just when I thought my girl Kiersten was on her way to a HEA some bull happens. I know it was Jonathan because he about to jump of a cliff i don’t know who more delusional him or Melody I know she gone be a problem for both Jream and Saint before they can get started… On to book two because I’m fully invested
Loving the vibe and story so far. I can already see the type of time Jonathan is on. Saint and III need to give him all the smoke. Hoping Sire knows how to be a true King and don’t fumble w woman’s heart. As usual, people don’t know what they have until they no longer have it! Onto book 2.
All I need to say is the delusional thoughts of both Jonathon and Mel got me wanting to throw Holy oil on this here kindle!!! Smdh Vee thank you love!! You always keep me glued to the pages. Now I’m going to my prayer closet until VL 2 hit.
Like always this story was so good. I dislike men like Jonathan and women like Mel. They don’t know how to let go. Kiersten and Saint are tying to move on,but they not letting up. I’m ready for part2!!!!
I don’t know if that’s Jonathan or Mel but it could be Mari that did that but I believe Jonathan would’ve taken her to the apartment whoever it is just started a war I can’t wait to see how this plays out
Wow that’s crazy her man was cheating and got caught now he mad he got caught and mel She played so many games now that it’s over she don’t believe is over , Mel and Jonathan are delusional, i’m about to get into the book 2 hoping it’s better than book 1.🤗
Everybody in the book has a story. You get to read about what's going on with everyone. Somepeople just can't do right but can't let go. I can't wait to read the finale. Grab this book
Johnathan and Melody both are delusional! Melody trying to ruin Jream life all because of her own insecurities. I wish kiki was more open with her family about her relationship
This book was really good it keep me on the edge I'm trying to figure out what's going to happen next and then somebody else part comes so this book keep you wondering I'm excited to read part 2 fight girl fights
The family dynamics? No real detail so I don’t think the mom should have been mentioned. No back story on Sir or the friend and brothers relationship. It was hard to follow with so many questions.
I loved to this book from beginning to end. Sir and Saint are such strong men—I truly hope they end up with the women of their dreams. The men Kirsten and Jream are currently with are just plain toxic. Jonathan and Melody are crazy. Let's go part 2!
Huh? Now why in the heck did this book end with Kiersten get her behind beat up like that? And who did it? Ugggh I hate when a book leave me hanging like that, Let me go to the next book and see what’s going on.
Kiersten Grey was fed up. Her boyfriend Jonathan had checked out of their relationship but thought that she would just stick around and be miserable. The final straw was when he put his hands on her. She packed up and left that same day. You know the saying, "You don't miss your water till the well runs dry?" Jonathan's well is dry as hell!
