He’s my peace, but I might be his ruin…

I have been so busy taking care of my brother as he struggles with his addiction that I have forgotten what it’s like to put myself first. Or maybe I have never known.

Have I ever wanted anything for purely selfish reasons? I don’t think so.

Until I met him.

Nate Carson was…everything. Sexy. Romantic. Protective.

Like me, he’d survived more than his fair share of tragedy. The last thing he needed was to get tangled up in my chaos. I should’ve kept my distance.

But I didn’t.

Now, I must figure out how to keep my brother healthy and alive all without scaring off the man who might be the love of my life. Failure isn’t an option.

Especially not when so much more than just our hearts are at stake…

First, this book does deal with addiction so if that is a trigger for you just know that ahead of time.

I really enjoyed this book. I love the character of Olive and how devoted she was to her brother. He was attempting to recover from his addiction and she was caring for him. As in most situations like this, the caregiver has a tendency to forget about themselves because their total focus is just on the person that they're caring for. That was Olive in the beginning until she met Nate.

Nate is former military and he and his friend Jack opened their own private security business. While on a job with a high profile client, Nate meets Olive and just immediately becomes smitten with her or I should probably just classify it as he found her intriguing.

The problem with Olive is how does she focus on herself and something that she wants when she has her brother and his issues to deal with? I liked watching the evolution between Olive and Nate. I almost felt like olive kind of felt like she didn't deserve Nate and that if she chose him then to some degree she might appear selfish. So seeing the progression between the two of them was actually very appealing.

I like that this story showed the vulnerability of the characters especially when it came to Benny Olive's brother. The brother, sister dynamic is generally strong in real life and I loved that that dynamic was portrayed in this book as well.

I definitely recommend this book.

Great spice 🌶🌶🌶

Nate and Jack Sanders are ex military and owners of Nash Security based in Nashville. They are working as the security company for Jenny, a country singer in her national tour.

Olive is a flight attendant and she has a new contract with Jenny, who needs a flight attendant for her tour. Olive needs this job but it is also worried about her brother Benny, who is fighting his drug addiction.

Nate falls for Olive in the same moment he saw her. He tries to talk with Olive but the conversation turned wrong.

In this moment Olive doesn't want a relationship. She knows by experience that her love life would have to wait until her brother is totally fine. Olive doesn't know that Nate won't give up, he believes she is the one.

Level of spice 🌶🌶🌶

This story is the second book of a series but you can read it as a stand alone. I will read the first book of this series and will wait for the third.

I won this book on a Goodreads giveaway.

Book 2 in the Nashville Security series: Nate and Olive
This series are interconnected standalones.
This is a “he falls first”, bodyguard and flight attendant romance with trauma background and NA addiction (not with MC’s) rep. Also, it was so refreshing have MC’s in their 30s, loved that (MMC 39 and FMC 33) I really loved both Nate and Olive, both individually and together. I really loved that this wasn’t a typical “bodyguard” trope, I really liked how it was done. The addiction representation and how it affects loved ones was done so well too. All around a great read. Can’t wait to continue the series

Won in a giveaway. This book was just OK for me. I’m not really into books that fully hinge on one character just not communicating to the other and that being the main point of conflict. Loads of this book could’ve been solved with a conversation or two. Oh, your addict brother is in trouble with a dealer? How nice that you happen to be with a private security company that could possibly help? Nope, just try and handle this situation all alone, seems super safe and smart. I also don’t know how this woman kept her job when she kept leaving with no notice.

The bodyguard and the attendant—such a good read!
I know a few people who could really relate to Olive, and it was so heartwarming to see her find someone who cared for her the way she cares for her brother. I loved how Nate didn’t let her push him away. He was patient, understanding, and never judged her situation, just showed up for her.

It’s a beautiful story of love, healing, and second chances. That said, if addiction is a trigger for you, this might be one to skip.

Thank you, Sarah, for the ARC! 💛

Nate is on an assignment when he first meets Olive, and it truly is a case of instant attraction for both of them. Despite that, Olive resists Nate as she is having troubles within her family.

I loved how Nate was so protective of her, always hoping to ensure that she was well and safe. Cade, her friend, was also perfect in helping to bring both of them together.

The last act in particular was fast paced and I liked that the misunderstanding did not cause further issues in their budding relationship. What they share is truly worth the sacrifice.

This was such a good book! I love when I can relate to a character and their experiences in a book. And this book gave me that! I love Olive’s character and her relationship with her brother. Olive was one of those characters that has a heart of gold and cares deeply for her brother. He’s got his own struggles with addiction and she stands by his side.

Tropes:
🖤Flight Attendant
🔥Security Guard
🖤Addiction Rep
🔥Romantic Suspense
🖤HEA guaranteed

This was a pretty new trope and plot for me. The MMC is a security guard which I haven’t read before. I loved the way Olive and Nate’s relationship progresses and I thought their chemistry was perfect. Mostly I loved the hard parts of this book and the mentions of addiction and the effects it has one the caregivers really spoke to me. I think this book will appeal to many people because of the relatability of the characters!
