. This second book introduces UNNECESSARY profanity, a continued love triangle, as well as practicing both good and black magic, instead of choosing which kind she wants to embrace since it is impossible to do both at the same time.
There is much more description involving the romance triangle or lack thereof, rather than an effort to focus on magic. She seems utterly unable to make any definitive decisions about changes in her life at all. It is rather boring . . . limping along from moment to moment.
The pace was entirely too slow, profanity not welcomed, and the characters were not captivating, So, I found it necessary to place this on the DNF shelf.
I am in search of a new adventure that will provide an escape that includes wit, humor, and imagination.
Sahara is a witch with a problem. She is trying to find out whether she is more inclined to good magic or black magic. And she is also torn between two men but can't decide which one she really wants. Will it be Robert or Donavan. It's a very interesting story and I liked it.
I liked the book cover art - it caught my eye and drew my interest. The book title was a tempting promise, but the story failed to engage me. The 1 star rating is for the story, the cover art and title belong on a better book.
I very, very rarely stop reading a book but I could only get to 56% on this book. I was hopelessly bored.
I kept waiting and waiting for a story plot to developed. It never did.
Over half a book of bouncing between I love Robert, I love Donovan… and she’s only known the men 3 weeks. Not very realistic. Also bouncing between I want to practice “Good” magic, I am drawn to “Black” magic. Over and over and over and over and over. Absolutely no plot.
I’m sorry to say, to me, this book is a failure. The “promise” was a lie. I don’t know WHO could read this book and enjoy it. Even a boy crazy, middle school aged girl would soon be bored. That’s my honest opinion.
Sahara is still learning how to be a witch. Studying with Paris on the acts of good magic are proving to be a challenge but she’s also secretly studying black magic with Paris’s sister Abigail and it’s going much better but is she truly cut out to be a dark magic witch? She’s generally a good person so will studying black magic change her as a person? That’s not the only thing that she is struggling with either, she still hasn’t chosen between the two men that she is dating. Should she choose Robert who is older and more mature or should she choose Donavan who is young and care free? She has grown quite fond of both of them and every time she feels that she has finally made her decision something will sway her the other way.
It pains me to say this because I am a huge H. T. Night fan but this book was not for me. I read the first book and really enjoyed it but this one took more of a love triangle twist than paranormal. There was hardly any witchy things in it all, it was mostly her trying to decide on whether to keep dating Robert or Donavan and she was no closer to deciding at the end then she was in the beginning. I hated how the book started, like I came in in the middle of a conversation, I hated how it ended as well and let’s face it… the middle wasn’t all that great either. I found pretty much the whole book extremely boring and I almost gave up numerous time. I did finish but I can’t see myself reading the next book.
I love when a second book in a series picks up right where the last one ended. HT Night continues this fun series with Sahara…Robert…Donovan…Paris and Abigail with Sahara still in a conundrum of what to do with her love life and which way to go with her magic! Paris is pulling her one way towards good magic and Abigail is hell-bent on having Sahara be her partner in black magic….which will Sahara choose?? Well…if you want that answer and also the answer to who Sahara will choose to be her boyfriend…the dashing, handsome male model Donovan or the ever faithful, not bad to look at, sincere Robert you will have to get a copy of this book and find out for yourself! This was a fun…light and great read. I love the way HT Night’s writing can make me lose track of time with his wonderful stories! The Witch’s Magic is definitely one of those. I couldn’t stop reading until I had turned the last page! I am so looking forward to book three and all the fun and adventures with this loveable cast of characters! Thank you HT for another enjoyable story!
Can I give a three and a half star rating? I loved the first book, but this one so left me flat. The first dealt with the power of a blooming witch trying to decide between good and black magic and the decision that needed to be made between her two great guys. Unfortunately, book two was more of the same angst. Nothing got resolved.
I was happy to hang out with old friends. I had grown to really like the characters, even the not so good ones. But I got very frustrated without any progress being made in this book. In the first book, there were even bits of seemingly real information about how to find your center and power. Not much was in this one.
AND I might have been happy just hanging with the friends as I mentioned before, but the book needed more editing. There were places I had to reread sentences to make sense of things. A word left out or not the right word. A sentence of present tense mixed in with mostly past.
This is NOT a stand alone book! In fact, in Book 1, we find Sahara (a new witch-in-training) with decisions to make. As book 1 ends, she finds the decisions she thought she had made were causing great doubt and heartache. Book 2 is completely about her inability to make a decision between two charming men, knowing that the relationship could not continue with both, but to choose would cause heartache and pain for all involved. Another choice she must make is whether to practice good magic or black magic.
The more I read the more I got aggravated with her inability to make a decision and her selfish way of thinking. I got tired of it, but was determined to finish the book, thinking that it surely would have some merit. Alas, it didn't. Unless you buy all the books, don't even start this series.
This book was great fun! It's a quick and easy read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I found myself smiling as I read. This series has heart and is very interesting. I look forward to the next book. Of course, I have my choices (I feel quite strongly about) that I'm rooting for... I hope Sahara makes the choices that I'm rooting for! I'd recommend this book & series. Read books in order to get the most from them.
I'm a fan of this story and i like where it's going. I wasn't quite a fan of the quick ending but it is a series so there is more to come. H.T. Night is a great author and his books are always worth a read. I loved the dedication!
Two books into this series and i am still not sure. There is something that is making me continue to read these books, however, not a great deal has happened so far. There is a lot of character development, which is perhaps why I am compelled to carry on.
cliff hangers are one thing. But this was 1/2 a story, leaving it up to you to purchase the next book to finish what should have been in this book. I was very disappointed when I came to the last page.
