Damien, Alpha of the San Antonio pack had thought it was an awesome idea to take his mate, Scott, back to his ex-home pack to catch up with his parents and ex-Alpha. He had assumed that his power as a wolf, and the fact that he was from such a large pack would guarantee both men a good time.
A homophobic Alpha and a disgruntled mother are just two of the problems the men face. In fact if Damien isn't careful his mate might not make it back to Texas alive.

This is Book 3.5 of the Cloverleah Pack series and is based on the characters in Book 3 (When No Doesn't Cut It). While it contains enough back story to be read as a standalone, if you want to know more about the characters then please read Books 1 - 3.
Warning: This book is about gay wolf shifters. It contains some violence, male-male sexual acts, anal intercourse, oral sex and rimming. If you object to these things please look elsewhere for your reading pleasure.
Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams. Unable to resist the lure of her stories, Lisa decided to switch to fiction books, and now stories about her men clamor to get out from under her fingertips. When Lisa is not writing, she is usually reading with a cup of tea always at hand. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate. Lisa will do anything for chocolate. This book was another really good addition to this series! With this book we get to see some more of Damien and Scott together while Damien takes Scott back home to see Scott's family but unfortunately it does not go as planned. I felt so bad for Scott to have a mother who is so horrible and to have people treat him the way they did just because he was gay was honesty terrible I could not help feeling so sad for him to have to go through what he has had to. The first half of this book was Damien and Scott but the second half was Malachi finding his mate which I thought was awesome because I loved his character in the previous book and I was hoping to see him get his HEA. I will not say to much about who his mate is because I really do not want to spoil this book for anyone but just WOW!! I was so happy for them and thought it was awesome the way the author mixed these two stories together so not only do we get more of Damien and Scott which I loved but we also get to see Malachi get his HEA too!
All together I really loved this book! I would recommend this book and this series! I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.
Bk 3.5 2 books in one. bk 1. Never go back. Is the story of Scott going back to his home pack with Damien. His home pack had kicked Troy his twin out for being gay and Scott followed soon after to be with his brother. In his absence his father had found his true mate a female human, and his mother had him banished for being Gay. What a horrible pack this was. bk 2 Malacai finds his mate. While visiting the above pack, Scott demand to see his friend Elijah. Elijah's mother and the Alpha had planned for Elijah to marry a female from another pack and he refused. His mother the crazy woman that she was placed him in a whole in the kitchen until such time he would follow her orders to bond with the female. He was rescued by Scott Damien and others. Malacai, takes him into his arms and refuses to give him up, not knowing why until Elijah is cleaned up. Both are great stories. Entertaing to read.
Cute continuation to Damien and Scott's story. Basically this book is two short stories put together. The first is Damien and Scott's POV of going back to Scott's birth pack. Then it is Malacai and his mate's story.
Sometimes it's just better to leave well enough alone as Damien discovers when he and Scott show up at Scott's ex-home pack. The homophobia that drove Scott and his twin away is still present and worse than ever. When Scott left he sensed that one of his friends might be in a situation similar to his own. As the homophobia becomes more evident as introductions are made before dinner the need to find Scott's friend Elijah becomes even more urgent. Families are complex things, and reconciliation after a rift difficult, but sometimes it's just better to cut the toxicity out of your life. This may be a fantasy but there are too many real life stories so similar to this that its downright scary.
I've been putting this off for a while. Why? Because I would have wanted Scott and Damien's trip in the previous book. I wasn't crazy about how the trip was mentioned, but not followed through so I put off continuing the series.
In this book I got my home coming. It was good, but a bit anticlimactic. I had a bit of a problem with Scott's mood swings. And there was not enough about Scott's father and his mate. I would have liked a bit more of that.
These two delightful short stories really fill the blanks in the storyline of the series. I loved the characters and am so glad that after 80 years of searching Malacai finally found his mate. The fact that second short story carried on from the first also made it more like a novella than any thing else. The storyline was engaging and well paced. Definitely worth reading.
In this short story we have Damien and Scott again. This time they are going back to Scott and Troy's birth pack. There we meet Elijah who is the true mate of Damien's second in command. This is a good book to have since its goes in between Scott's story and Troy's which is next in the series. Hope you are enjoying the series as much as me :)
Finally managed to finish this 🙌 (reading with my eays it's so tiring 🥲)
I was happy to get some more info about old characters and new ones but as always with Lisa Oliver it's love/hate for me (as in I hate that I love it 😅) because the writing and the stories are objectively kind of trashy, but 🤷♀️
Malacai has been looking for his mate almost as long as Damian. Glad to see him get his HEA, even if he has to get it through his thick skull first. Elijah is such a sweetheart and deserves to be cherished. His mate truly does cherish him, he just has to learn how to show his feelings first.
The writing is getting better I give the author that. However I'm done with this series. I am tired of the word brought being written as bought and the brit speak is beyond annoying now So if in the future rewritten copies come out then ill reread them but until then these were bearable at most.
Two short stories in one both great the first is Scott’s trip back to his home pack which was good to see what happens there and the second was Damien’s second finding his mate in Scott’s old pack which was lovely really enjoyed .
Scott and Damien travel to his old home pack and discover that although his mom still hates him for being gay his father doesn’t. Whilst there second in command Malachi finds his true mate hidden under his house by his crazy mother
Two stories in one. Scott the Alpha Mate and his lover, partner The Alpha Damian decided to visit Scott's orginal pack where his parents still live. The visit didn't go well.
This was a wonderful addition to this series. I loved reading more about Scott and Damien, and Elijah and Malicai story was icing on the cake. This was just as good as the previous books and I can't wait for the next one.
I'm loving Lisa Oliver's books more and more with each one I read. These two shorts were super sweet, super romantic, and with the right amount of suspense. Highly recommended if you're in the 'Awww' mood.
I loved this peak into Scott and Troy’s past. The sweet meeting for Malacai…despite the rough start! The poor San Antonio pack cannot catch a break from drama, but the Alpha Mate has it handled!
I really like the characters in this series. I’m rereading the series. I enjoy all of her books. I’m looking forward to reading the next book she writes.
Honestly, this book could count as one story, rather than two. I see why it's been assigned as two different stories, but they thoroughly work well together.
Good/typical Cloverleah (short) story of a shifter-mating with a rescue (the abused nerd) theme, but some nit-picky problems for me
I'm a fan of the Cloverleah series as escapist, often over-powered shifter/shifter mating. This "shorter" (really two full stories continuing over what are really two joined novellas) installment overall has the same feel (a little cheesy, a decent amount of tough shifter heat, interesting if sometimes a bit simplistic characters), but without the super-powered supernatural elements and a submissive mate for a tough enforcer.
I actually enjoyed having a nice break from two-uber-powered/aggressive Alpha types being together (even Scott, a beta wolf, was as tough as hell). However, some of the aspects of the story didn't work quite as well for me. Elijah's extreme abuse followed by a rapid recovery seemed out of sync, including visiting a gay dance club just days after being rescued from months of starvation and incarceration in a dark pit.
Also, the setting (Cleveland Tennessee) seemed appropriate for an extremely conservative, anti-gay pack, but the treatment of gay couples in the hotel and the presence of a thumping gay club seemed a bit out of place (but I'm not a native to the area and my experience with the town is 20 years old, so my take on it could be out of date or incorrect). Finally, the homophobic Alpha seemed to be able to overlook his hate when it served his political purposes, which didn't ring quite true to me. His disdain seemed very real, and his ability to dismiss his previous venom during later political maneuverings seemed to come too easy.
Still, one doesn't read a series on extraordinarily strong supernatural creatures for it's realism, and the general mix of shifter characters, male on male sizzle, and an interesting enough story (if not overly compelling plot and writing) make it a nice addition to the extended Cloverleah setting.
