I think there are some interesting ideas in this book, that are unfortunately let down by subpar writing. You can definitely feel the video game (and anime?) inspirations when reading this book, with terms like "desire sensor" or the fact that there are literally scythers for some reason.

But this book reeks of plot convenience. The main character is given a super special power-up, because she was born with a special quality thanks to her special parents. The system "works to give people what they want", so whenever she wants something new (e.g. new weapon, new armor, etc) the system decides to give it to her. She was given enemies that were very easy/suited for her to fight. On top of that, the writing of the book itself just doesn't feel particularly engaging. Some of the fights can be interesting, but a lot of the writing I was just bored reading. There's also nothing surprising that happens in the book. Everything just works out in her favor. I think Astrid might've been a slightly more interesting character, but the characters outside of them were boring. I also thought that as a LitRPG this book made a lot of odd choices. We're told early on that stats are but aren't indicative of what people are actually capable of, and that the scaling isn't linear, so it immediately gave me the sense of "then what's the point?" As the story progresses we sometimes have large chunks of leveling where she gets new skills and stuff, and the character is like "Yep, got some new skills and tried them, they weren't very good, moving on". Some of it was so vague it was like, "Lol, like have you just not thought of these skills yet? Like, just gonna save three (blank) skills to be inserted at a narratively convenient point later on?" Also some of the worldbuilding was introduced through the main character just speculating about things for paragraphs, but some of it I just left feeling like... "What the fuck are you actually talking about?"

Overall, there were interesting ideas, and I liked the basic idea for the premise. But there's just so much about the book that didn't work for me. Personally, I'm not interested in reading another book with a character who's too cool to care about most anybody else, where absolutely everything works out in her favor and the system gives her everything that she wants.

A repeat of another book

This is basically a repeat of the authors scarlet wolf series we have. Enigmatic, somewhat of a loner MC, a sister (or sister figure in Scarlet's case), cute animal companion, missing parents, randomly gains powers way above anyone else around her, super powerful grandfather. Really hope it deviates more in future books.

must read if you haven’t please do. Excellent fast paced very well done.

I read so much, I don’t remember reading any of these authors Other works, I will now. I’m giving this five stars because it is an excellent book, fast paced excellent world building marvelous MC. The MC is smart, witty, and very likable. I have a few issues which are my own personal pet peeves. I don’t like the fact that the MC cannot assign any of her points that she received during level ups. And there are too many stats that are red that I considered were not necessary. I.e. that should only be read when the MC achieve some sort of milestone, not for repetition. Besides these two pet peeves. The world building was great, there was plenty of story, intrigue and threads left hanging, and the side characters were written very well, explaining some of their own motivations which took place during the book I know the author mentioned in his notes that eventually he would try to get some of his books read on audio, myself being a long time spoken word, listener, over 40 years. This would make an excellent audiobook, but use Topflite narration talent. Some narrators I can think of that come to mine for female leads are.Savy Des-etages,Emily woo Zellar, Emily Beresford, Andrea Parssneau. I do not know these narrators and I am not personally advocating for them. I’m just saying that they are excellent narrators and would do a marvelous job as female leads. If you decide to do Audiobooks fine talent like these it makes a great difference in bringing the audiobook to life. I will definitely read the next book when it comes out if I don’t decide to read the nex chapters on Patreon, that’s how good I think this book is, and it’s going to the top of my shelf as must read

Awesome

I am a reader who started out on Royal Road, and I have to say that this series is highly entertaining. The main character isn’t the most emotive with strangers, but you can tell she absolutely loves and it’s very close to those in her inner circle.

The capabilities of the main character are very interesting, and I feel this is a unique take on the Grim Reaper idea. I also feel like the pace of the story is fast enough to be very fun and entertaining, while still working on some nice character growth for the main character and the side characters. The story certainly gets to the point and to the action pretty quickly, but that’s a nice selling point for this kind of story.

The various twist and turns that you run into during the course of the story are also some nice added spice. And everything nice lol. Anyway, the character backgrounds are fun, and I enjoy how you don’t have to worry about certain characters getting left behind. I won’t clarify so there’s no spoilers, just that it’s nice to see.

Overall, I would have to say that book one is very well written, the abilities are entertaining, and the action is thrilling. I think you should give at least book one a chance to see if you like the writing style, because I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Hopefully you have just as fun a journey as I did.

A good start, with some hiccups

The pacing felt a little off at times, with half the book being stuck in one place and a mad dash to level 100, I feel like exiting the dungeon and the leader board stuff should have been the end of book one. Maybe after the store. Just sort of feels rushed to the end. And way too little content of anything else. The road from 89 to 100 felt like a few chapters in comparison. That said. With the info dump at the very end I'm excited to see what's next. Good job author.

Good Read

the characters are interesting and entertaining, especially the MC. I like the new class and how she uses it to battle. I like her pet bat Luna. I look forward to the next in the series. The only I would have liked is a deeper explanation of the Tiers and what it takes go advance in skills and
evolution. For example, how many Tiers until someone becomes an Ascendent? I hope the next book answers some lingering questions.

It’s not bad, though at the same time nothing original. My evaluation is based on everything I’ve read so far, including the unpublished material released on Royalroad: it’s readable, entertaining enough , but the fact that the protagonist never encounters what I would consider real difficulties and—above all—the fact that the character’s psychological growth is ZERO prevents me from empathizing and becoming fully engaged, which is a shame.

Awesome Read

So jumped into this book from another Shane Purdy series 'The Wolf of Blood Moon'. Just like the other series it boasts a female protagonist/female lead. The story is engaging and hard to stop once you start. Read this in about 2 days cause of work obligations and needing sleep.

Mostly about leveling, fighting, and community building, racing to to accomplish feats. No cultivation and no crafting from main character.

See yall I'm book 2

Great story ........

The storyline is great Except for The use of the word Anyways the use of that word makes both the author and Character sound like an Idiot because the word is anyway an S is not required Because Anyway is not A verb or an adverb It is a transition word that does not require Pluralization

Love it

I really loved this book. The story is really captivating and I couldn’t put the book done at all. The adventure flows so smoothly and even with the story jumping between characters it was easy to follow and not once dit I feel like I was loosing interest. Thank you this was amazing and can’t wait to start the next one

A fun start to a new series

Let's start with some VERY solid world building, along with a fun main character and several interesting secondary characters. Add in great pacing, and you have a fun story.

Good book - LitRPG with interesting character

Interesting story, interesting world, and good heroine. I’m not gonna be mad if she gets with the Dragon Prince! ;-) But no hurry, it’s fun watching her grow into a badass!

Excellent read

Decent idea for a system apocalypse; this time it's a total reset. Not seen that particular take before.

Good characters, and back story. I highly recommend it.

Same Character Different name

If this characters name was Scarlet I wouldn't be able to tell the difference in books. Four more words needed.

This was good. Lexi reminds me of Scarlet quite a bit. So, in a sense, I feel as if I’m dealing with a familiar main character. I don’t consider that bad at all. Onto the next. Thank you for this.

Good plot, wrong tense

I did enjoy the plot but it would have been better in more of a past tense instead of first person present tense. Other than that it was rather enjoyable.

An okayish beginning. The Mac does not struggle at all and this is kind of boring. She just flies through all of the trouble and a lot of good things just happens to end up in her lap....

Really cool concept, but nothing else.

Take Rise Of The Winter Wolf, find and replace Wolf with Alexia, replace ice with glitchy purple and voila, you get this. There's just nothing interesting here. The entire system got reset and instead of doing anything interesting with the fallout, everyone reacts like it's just another Tuesday and goes on with their life.

System gets reset, first 50% is the nobody-MC solo grinding a single generic dungeon, after that she comes out as world strongest. Everyone says "Whoaaa", goes back to solo grinding and that's pretty much the entire story.

(The cover is incredible tho)
