This book drops you into a world on the edge of ruin — realms breaking apart, shadows stirring, and monsters creeping back into the light. It’s dark, tense, and full of that looming sense that something bigger is about to shatter.
What really worked for me were the characters. Selara and Elliora are absolute standouts — fierce, layered, and unforgettable. Caelum brings that mysterious, broody energy that makes every scene with him magnetic. And the romance? A true slow burn. Every glance, every moment of softness, carried so much weight that when the payoff came, it was worth the wait.
The action scenes were another highlight — fast, intense, but never losing that emotional thread. They had a cinematic quality, like watching a battle unfold on a huge screen, full of shadows, storms, and magic colliding.
Now, for a little honesty: while I adored the world, the characters, and the story itself, the writing style wasn’t completely my taste. That’s purely personal preference, and it didn’t stop me from enjoying the journey. The heart of the story, the emotion, and the imagination absolutely shine through.
And obviously it ends with a cliffhanger!!!

4.25⭐️ She told me it was dark and at first I didn't believe her, until I met Khaosor. He makes me grind my teeth with anger!!! The divine are ruthless and cruel, and thats an understatement.

The ending SHOCKED ME TO THE CORE!!! Did not see that coming and cant wait to jump into book 2.

I loved the concept of the Eonsa and I haven’t read anything like it before. It pulled me into the story and had me hooked. I struggled a little bit with connecting with the characters emotionally and also the pacing of the book. It felt a little rushed and lacking description and depth, however this is just my personal opinion.
Regardless of the above the story is captivating and ends on a cliff hanger and I cannot wait to read the next book. Thank you to Brenna for letting me read her baby 🖤

It is a book that clearly has a lot of ambition and a strong hook, making it an engaging ride for anyone who loves stepping into an original speculative universe.
However, the narrative execution stumbles a bit, for me, when it comes to the pacing and the passage of time. Throughout the book, time feels incredibly fluid, making it difficult to gauge exactly how much time is passing between individual scenes or how long the characters have actually known each other. Because the chronological markers are so vague, the emotional development between the characters often feels like it is making massive leaps without the necessary grounding. Relationships suddenly feel intensely deeply rooted before the narrative has fully built the emotional foundation required to make those bonds feel completely earned and believable.
This sense of detachment extends to the world-building, which currently operates at a very high level. While the foundational elements of the universe are captivating, the details remain somewhat sparse and surface-level for the time being. October 26, 2025Selara has been stalking the realm, destroying void creatures while she slips through the shadows like a wraith. Elliora is mouring the loss of her parents, and set to destroy the one who caused them to disappear, along with the help of her close companion Caelum. At a crossroads, they realise they must work together to uncover their own secrets, and save the realm.

I was genuinely hooked on this from the first few pages. The writing style is descriptive and beautiful, the third person narration is done flawlessly and melds the characters and their thoughts and feelings so well.
The world is described in bits and pieces that slowly build the realm they exist in, with the authors clear passion for the story she wrote is laid out in the long and detailed chapters. All of these do a beautiful service to the story, however the length of the novel is it's downfall.
If this was double the length, there would be time to develop relationships and plotlines that instead felt incredibly rushed. There's so much care put into the rest of the story and prose, that it was jarring to have characters meet, hate, and then profess feelings all with a rapid timeline, with very little externally occurring to cause those changes. The affection felt unnatural and rushed, despite a long journey on the road that could have described those feelings going forward, instead of telling us they existed.
I also found the points in the plot to be incredibly interesting, especially the traumatic ones before the end, but instead of letting the tension and stress simmer and draw out so the reader can really feel it, they were almost immediately resolved within pages of them occuring. Between that, the repetitious battle scenes spaced closely together, and Caelum consistently choosing to speak in another language the reader couldn't understand, it left too many loose strings that wouldn't make this a favourite read.
Despite all of the above, this author has phenomenal potential. If they chose to write a much longer fantasy novel I would absolutely read it.

Voidwalker by Brenna Kasey is one of those books that completely thrives on atmosphere and visual storytelling. 🌌⚔️ The environments in this book genuinely FEEL alive with storm-filled skies, ruined villages swallowed by ash, shadow magic curling through moonlight, endless black oceans, and landscapes that feel like they’re actively dying around the characters. Multiple scenes felt straight out of a dark fantasy film. The visual storytelling is easily this novel’s strongest feature. 🖤🔥
Selara was the standout character for me. Her trauma, emotional isolation, and constant battle with the darkness inside her felt raw, believable, and emotionally heavy in a way that really carried the story. 🥀 The dynamic between her and Caelum had a strong emotional pull throughout the novel. Their tension felt rooted more in fear, trust, restraint, and survival than romance, which fit the darker tone of the story perfectly. ⚡🌑
That being said, this book also clearly shows huge potential for growth moving forward in the series, especially with plot structure and character progression. 📖 While the emotional tension between Selara and Caelum is compelling, some interactions revisit similar emotional beats without enough progression afterward. The same issue appears within the overall plot direction at times. The atmosphere remains immersive enough to keep you invested, but portions of the middle start feeling slightly murky. 🌫️
The worldbuilding itself is genuinely fascinating, but because so many unique terms, powers, creatures, and concepts are introduced quickly, some readers may struggle piecing everything together at first. 🌑 Keeping all this in mind … the glossary is your friend. Don’t skip it. 👀🗝️📜

I absolutely love the world that this book is set in and the premise of the plot draws you in within the first few pages. The introduction to characters and the slow building of the plot feels very natural and steady paced- with the characters being displayed to you in a nice, subtle way. In saying this, parts of the character building can sometimes feel quite rushed and I struggled to become invested in some parts due to this. This book would hugely benefit from being elongated into a longer, more steady paced novel.
The overall plot and enemies really showed a lot of promise and I am so excited to see how this develops- I think that this world and its creatures definitely have a lot more to give and I can’t wait to delve deeper.

Somewhere around 3.5 stars. This was a really interesting idea! The writing style was not necessarily my cup of tea. I didn't always see the character relationship developments and transitions between scenes sometimes felt jagged, but I thought the concept was super cool, original, and well thought out. I appreciated the idea of the Eonsa (I would love a pronunciation on this!! I've been saying Awnsha in my head). The characters were interesting and had nice nuances to them. It was a nice change of pace for the girl to have the shadow powers instead of the overused "shadow daddy" trope.
The void creatures were a cool monster to be fighting, I wish there was more expansion on them! It felt a little battle heavy sometimes with not as much differences between the battles as I would have liked, but I liked the BBEG and hope there is more development with him in future books.
Overall I enjoyed the story and I will check out the next books, and I also look forward to seeing this author develop as this was a nice debut book!

Right away you are thrown into a realm that is full of darkness and ruin. Something is always lurking in the shadows, a monster creeping in the background, and void portals opening out of nowhere. I enjoyed the world building and character development because it gave me the illusion as if I was there right along the way in the story. Selara and Elliora are fierce FMC’s, but man Selara can be stubborn and she tends to like to push Caelum. Caelum definitely gives off that tough and bored energy and he wants to keep Selara safe. There is tension building between the two of them and the romance, it’s a slow burn for sure. The battle scenes were some of my favorite! They were high action and intense, kept me engaged and wanting more. I also loved the scene where they were in a town and Caelum was playing with his powers and the lightning and the children loved it, just something about it made me see him in a foster and less broody side.this book needed on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to dive into the second book to see how the story continues.

This has so much going on! It's great! I really like Selara, Caelum and Elliora. They are all strong individuals and are pivotal to the storyline. I like the magic aspect to this and the void portals.
I like the amount of imagination there can be with magic and unknown creatures, shadows and portals. So good!
Selara has healing powers, which when you live in a world where things can come through a portal and attack, a healing ability is very useful!
I feel sorry for Caelum at times, although a big, strong guy, he still has feelings; obviously, but when Selara gets returned, he's in two minds whether to comfort her or let her process first. Knowing what he's just been told, will time heal the wounds?
Straight into the next book!

Voidwalker is a fast paced and immersive fantasy read. The world is dark and often felt like a dream. There were moments I wish could’ve been expanded upon and some scenes that felt a little rushed. But I loved the writing style and the plot twists. The plot keeps you engaged because of the POV from Orinthe the Soulseeker.

Fantasy-Romance? Me? Never… Until Now!
Okay besties, hear me out—I never go for romantasy. Like, mythical realms and third-person POV? Not usually my jam. But "Voidwalker" by Brenna Kasey pulled me in like a Caelum-sized gravitational force and wouldn’t let go. Selara and Elliora? Total powerhouses. Caelum? Mysterious and broody in the best way. The build-up? Necessary. The romance? Slooooow burn—but worth every smoldering glance and emotionally tender moment. There is a spicy scene, but it is not graphic, but what’s there is gorgeous and beautifully written.
Now, let’s talk fight scenes—because yes. Think Avengers meets ancient gods and goddesses. Epic battles, rich world-building, and an author who knows how to craft tension and action without losing that emotional thread. Even with third-person (which usually isn't my thing), Brenna’s writing made it so immersive, I forgot my preferences.
And yes, it ends on a CLIFFHANGER. I need book 2 like yesterday.

I am surprised more people aren't talking about this book, this is top tier fantasy reading. It has some romance, but I think it is more fantasy. The mythical realm world-building was so good, the romance is a very slow burn. The characters have strong unique personalities. The fighting scenes were "movie-like" for lack of a better term. They were really well done. The tension and emotional turmoil were felt. It does hang on a cliffhanger so I will be getting my hands on book 2 asap.

One of my favorite things about fantasy is discovering a completely new world, and Voidwalker made that experience feel effortless. From the very beginning, I felt invited into its world rather than overwhelmed by it. The glossary gave me a solid foundation before the story even began, making it easy to settle in and focus on the characters, mystery, and adventure as everything naturally unfolded.
One of the things I appreciated most was how approachable the world-building felt. Rather than stopping to explain every piece of lore, the story trusted readers to uncover the world naturally. Each new realm, creature, and revelation added another layer to the story, making every chapter feel like another piece of a much larger puzzle.
The pacing was another highlight for me. It struck a great balance between action, mystery, and quieter character moments, so I never felt like the story slowed down. Every chapter either expanded the world, developed the characters, or revealed another piece of the mystery, keeping me eager to see what would happen next.
The relationships were also a standout. I enjoyed watching the trust between Elliora, Caelum, and Selara develop over time. Nothing felt rushed, and seeing their opinions of one another gradually change made their interactions feel genuine. Selara quickly became one of my favorite characters. Her sharp wit, guarded nature, and the layers slowly revealed throughout the story made her incredibly compelling.
If you're looking for an epic fantasy that eases you into its world while delivering compelling characters, intriguing mysteries, and a journey that keeps unfolding with every chapter, I definitely recommend giving Voidwalker a try. The final chapters left me excited to continue the series and discover where these characters' journey leads next.

Voidwalker drops you into an imaginative world of divine beings, creeping darkness and ancient mythology from the very first page. The premise is compelling, and once the story found its footing, it was hard to put down.
The three central characters are the heart of the book with a dynamic that is charged and entertaining. They form a reluctant alliance between personalities that could not be more different, each carrying secrets and wounds that slowly surface as the story progresses. The writing style conveys emotional subtext well, letting what isn't said carry just as much weight as what is. The action sequences are dynamic and seamless, and the threat driving the plot has a satisfyingly ominous weight to it.
My biggest point of criticism is the dense collection of invented words. I found myself keeping notes from the start to help keep track of it all. From realm names, titles and character names to an entire ancient language that appears throughout with inconsistent translation, it was a bit harder to simply sink into the story the way I wanted to.
In the end it was worth pushing through because the story that emerges is atmospheric, emotionally engaging and sets up what could be a very compelling series. Fantasy readers who enjoy deep world-building and slow-burn character dynamics will find a lot to enjoy.

I think this might be the start of my new favorite series. It's labeled as fiction, but it had me asking real questions the whole time ... what does justice actually mean? What is the cost of power? The eonsa seem like gods, but they're flawed, raw, and deeply human. I felt connected to one of them in particular. Identity plays a huge role in the story, and it really sticks with you after the final page. If you've been through anything, this story will make you feel seen.

I quickly fell in love with all the characters in this book. With how well developed they are it's hard to believe this is Brennas first book! I can't wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds I just hope my heart can take it! If you are looking for a well thought out dark fantasy story this is a must read.

If you want a dark fantasy with massive world building and nonstop tension you need to pick up Voidwalker. This book features an incredible fractured universe built on deep lore , explosive and cinematic battles. I was completely hooked from the very first page to the end.

This book took me by surprise! I knew I would like the plot from the blurb. I knew I would like the prose after just a few lines of Chapter One.
But I’m surprised because it balanced plot, prose, and world building SO. DAMN. WELL. Voidwalker might be one of the best Stuff Your Kindle finds I’ve read in a very. long. time.
This book is beautiful, and I love how meaningful the title is to the story.
The void is an actual place (of nothingness, as you’d guess by the name). And Selara is connected to it in ways she doesn’t understand. Perhaps because she has no memory of her own history. Or perhaps it’s just her personality to fight the monsters that pop out from the void and not ask many questions. She’s a lone warrior fighting the good fight until one day, two gods find her. And decide she’s dangerous because of her magic.
I’ll let you read to find out what happens next. :)
Also, this book is very easy to devour in one sitting! And the good news is, books 2 & 3 are already out, and book 4 releases very soon!
